Bermuda cruise turns into a Canada Cruise

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

At 5:00 pm on Oct., 17th we received multiple texts and emails from RCCL that we will not be able to go to Bermuda due to Gonzalos and that we will cruise to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. We knew Bermuda was out but were hoping for the Bahamas or Florida, but that did not happen so we decided to make the best of it. I traveled with my husband and our two daughters ages 23 and 20. We drove from ...

This was the second time for me sailing on this ship since 2008 - this time with my boyfriend, and it was his first time. We are a young couple in our late 20's. We were notified around 6pm the night before departure that due to Hurricane Gonzalo, we would not be sailing to Bermuda, but instead to Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. John, New Brunswick. WHAT?! I was about to start my work shift when I ...

Happy, but with concerns

The cruise itinerary was outstanding. Our cabin arrangements were wonderful as was our cabin attendant. The embarkation from Port Liberty was as good as one could expect, as the port is being upgraded and there is considerable construction going on around the area. We found the layout of the ship made getting from one area to another very accessible . We chose "My Time Dining" for our evening ...

As first time cruisers we were not sure what to expect, we were very pleasantly surprised with the 10 day cruise on Explorer of the Seas from Bayonne NJ to New England and Canada. Not all of my comments are criticisms but just that, comments and observations. The embarkation process went smoothly enough, meeting Alex who was at the embarkation point promoting Portofino Restaurant was a bonus. We ...

This is the third time we have been on the Explorer of the Seas. As many folks know this ship will be out of service soon, to be refurbished and updated, etc. It is very obvious that it is in need of this reno. The ship left/returned to Bayonne, NJ. Yes, it's a disgusting/old place, but really, who cares? We weren't there long enough to really care. With that said, the staff are wonderful, our ...

Good cruise, not great

We booked this cruise after going 2x on Mariner out of Galveston, hoping to get out of Texas summer heat. This cruise was a few weeks too soon to see any fall color but we did get to see an occasional tree that was starting to turn. Our corner aft balcony (8690) was fine, but the deck 8 corridor port side, for the length of the ship, smelled moldy. We walked up the starboard side, it did not have ...

In January 2014, my sister and I began looking for a vacation spot that we could both enjoy for our first "sister's vacation". She would be travelling from Washington State and I from Minnesota so many options were considered before we settled on this Royal Caribbean cruise. The package we purchased included a 2-night stay in Manhattan at the Sheraton NY Times Square. The idea of having an agent ...

My DH and I embark on our first Back to Back cruise this last month. We first did the 9 day to New England and Canada and then stayed on for the 5 day to Bermuda. It gave us a full two week vacation and we enjoyed both parts of the cruise. We live in upstate NY, near Rochester, and drove to the port the day before. We stayed at the Hampton Inn on Staten Island. We have done this all three times ...

I loved this cruise. The Explorer of the Seas may be an older ship but the last RCI ship I sailed on was the Vision of the Seas, and that one hadn't been renovated yet! The EOS was a much bigger ship, grander and more impressive. It even had a ice skating rink! I loved sailing out of Bayonne because it allowed me to spend a little time in NYC before sailing. It's such a great city! I did research ...

We choose this cruise because if the itinery and we were not disappointed with the places we visited. The embarkation was fantastic with quick friendly service. The veranda cabin was typical with cheap chairs and table on the balcony. The bathroom toilettes were non existent. You would getter soap at a Super 8 motel. The lovely shampoo pump in the shower goes to show how they are cutting ...
