Viking Octantis - Brazilian cruise

Review for Viking Octantis to South America

Have never been to Brazil and was excited about the experience with the new expedition ships the Viking has developed. As expected Viking is a first class way to travel on any of their fleet of ships. Enjoyed meeting the expedition staff and the incredible informative including seeing/learning about microplastics, seeing the Hangar and Science Laboratory and the (BRUVS) Baited Remote Underwater ...

Excellent "Expedition" Cruise, even though Peru didn't allow us in

Review for Roald Amundsen to South America

We choose this cruise because we have travelled with Hurtigruten twice before: the Norway coastal ferry route & Greenland Expedition. We loved both previous cruises for different aspects and were curious how they would do a South American coastal cruise. This cruise was modified the last minute because Peru wouldn't allow ships in if that had a single covid case aboard. Hurtigruten offered ...

Fantastic trip with incredible crew

Review for Celebrity Flora to South America

We are so happy we switched from the smaller Celebrity ship to the Flora for our Galapagos cruise. The ship is like a mini-Edge class and the infinite verandah stateroom with bed facing the window was perfect to relaxing after lunch while waiting for our next excursion. The crew was simply incredible. On the first day, my wife had left her phone in the Discovery Lounge and didn’t even know she ...

Everything I wanted and more!

Review for Celebrity Flora to South America

We wanted to see the Galapagos and initially chose the Xpedition until learning it had NO elevator. The Flora has an elevator, the ship is the newest in the Galapagos fleet, and the "tender/zodiac" design is excellent, especially for shore excursions for some of us seniors with minor mobility issues. An actual set of stairs allowed easy access to the tender, the rigid design allowed you to walk ...

A Trip So Magnificent, it can only be seen inperson.

Review for Celebrity Flora to South America

To be honest, as a 14-year-old boy, I was expecting lots of boring walks, hours of looking at boring fish, and lots of old people. I was completely wrong, on the second day, there was so much to explore, new animals, new terrains, and overall new culture. This was a completely different environment, from places like Hawaii. The animals had grown up with very few natural predators so when a human ...

An experience of a lifetime

Review for Celebrity Flora to South America

The Galapagos is best described as a place that you can’t truly describe, only experience. Celebrity Flora is incredible with a team of naturalists, who are employed by both the cruise and the national park. Essentially, these people know what they’re talking about. The naturalists lead walks, kayaking and snorkeling voyages around the island, giving great insight about all the amazing animals ...

We booked the 7 night Galapagos Outer Loop cruise with the extra nights in Quito. From the minute we stepped off the aircraft in Quito we were given the VIP treatment from Celebrity. We had a private luxury transfer to the beautiful JW Marriott where we were met by more Celebrity staff and given a COVID test. The rooms at the Marriott are large and beautiful and the breakfasts are exceptional. ...

Seriously Spoiled!

Review for Viking Octantis to South America

Viking never fails to offer an exceptional cruising experience. From their all-inclusive itineraries to their casual/fine dining, Viking, in our opinion, is heads and tails above the competition. We love having our flights, transfers and tours all organized for us. And, we enjoy the casual, sophisticated ambiance of the ocean cruise. Truly, Viking offers like-minded people an opportunity to ...

Beautiful new boutique ship

Review for Viking Octantis to South America

A change in itinerary gave this trip a total of 10 consecutive sea days. I wondered whether that would prove to be too many for us and whether we would be bored on a small ship with only a handful of fellow passengers. Turned out I should not have worried. The Octantis is very comfortable and perfectly familiar to anyone who has cruised on Viking Ocean previously. The small size made for a ...

A four stars + hotel sailing through the Chilean fiords

Review for Stella Australis to South America

User Avatar

2-5 Cruises • Age 70s

My main interest was to visit the beautiful fiords in the South of Chile from a cruise that would also allow for some land visits in order to get in touch with the local nature - glaciers, specific flora and fauna. All these goals were fulfilled to perfection. Furthermore, the ship was most comfortable, large, clean and beautifully decorated; cabins were excellent, similar to rooms in a four stars ...
