Fantastic boat and cruise

Review for a South America Cruise on Viking Polaris

This is a fabulous cruise from Argentina through Chile, a part of the world most people have never encountered. The weather is not totally ideal and can be a bit limiting but Viking does everything in their power to make up for it and provide alternatives. The ship is beautiful and the size is perfect for making many new friends! I loved the zodiacs, Special Operations boat, and of course the ...

Incredible chance of a lifetime to see unexplored planet earth

Once we got on the ship, our trip was seamless. I have gluten and dairy allergies and the executive chef and all of the staff were wonderful about making sure that I was not "contaminated", which I deeply appreciated. Nothing worse than getting sick while on vacation! The food on the ship was incredible...so many choices and we kept discovering different places to eat and areas of the restaurants ...

Priced right and good dates to Chile which we wanted to experience when previous trip to Chile cancelled. Outstanding service and staff. Expedition/science lectures great. Liked Chris Johnson’s friendly personality and knowledge. Star gazing night was bright experience for us even in darkness. Sharing info on scheduled events somewhat limited. Paperless makes info flow challenging. Would liked to ...

Octantis provided an amazing expedition experience

Review for a South America Cruise on Viking Octantis

My trip of a lifetime to Antarctica on the luxurious Viking Octantis was a thrilling experience. I must use a walker to move about but the expedition staff and crew told me that they would do whatever was necessary to ensure that I could enjoy activities off the ship. Because environmental rules would not allow me my walker ashore, I never set foot on Antarctica but nonetheless I had a very ...

Some highlights…but also lowlights

This was our fourth Viking cruise but first expedition with our earlier experiences being river cruises. I would give the river cruises the highest possible rating which might be why this cruise did not live up to our expectations. First, the air transportation provided by Viking was abysmal. The flights involved many seemingly extra connections and in Chile, couples did not get seats next to ...

We were on a tour and this cruise was part of it. Loved everything about it, especially the crew. The waitstaff (including Matias the amazing singer) , the expedition team and the zodiac drivers all were outstanding. Scenery - magnificent. Food- excellent. Presentations- terrific. Lovely to come on board after a blizzard and be welcomed with hot chocolate laced with whisky. Disembarking on Cape ...

Just About Perfect

This was our 14th cruise, the second on Ponant, and we sought it out because we are tired of the large ship cruises. Ponant offers expeditionary experiences, rather than the traditional "rest, relax and party" cruise, so we approached our time with that expectation. We were incredibly impressed. The ship is graceful, beautiful and very comfortable. Appointments are sophisticated and of the ...

We scheduled this cruise on the spur of the moment when we received a flash sale email. It was our first Viking cruise and it couldn't have gone better. The fact that the Polaris was only 1/3 full gave the ship a kind of surreal atmosphere (we wonder what it would be like with a full compliment of guests). Reservations at the specialty restaurants were easy to get, excursions were easily ...

We would not normally book Viking due to cost. We did book this cruise due to timing and a very deep sale in effect. However, after this experience, we are convinced that Viking is virtually an all inclusive experience...rather than nickel and diming you at every junction. Although our jr suite included unlimited laundry, every deck had a free launderette with 5 washers and 5 dryers for guest ...

Conflicted About Flora Experience

Who We Are American, Married (M/F), mid 50’s, experienced active/adventure travelers/global trekkers, fit Why We Chose Flora Flora was recommended by our travel advisor. While we do not prefer cruising, and our experience with mass market cruise lines is limited, we felt that this was the most efficient way for us to visit the Galápagos Islands as one element of our itinerary to Ecuador. ...
