Hmmm...what a I missing?
"This made each dinner time unnecessarily stressful, standing in line for "open dining" and hoping for a table within the next couple of hours, despite SEVERAL open tables within eyesight. We sailed with a group of 10 and were not able to secure any kind of set dining time, despite having a 2 year old in our group...."Read More

Blah trip. Decline in service, food, value.

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Eurodam

This was our fourth HAL cruise, and we were very disappointed. Holland America has been wonderful in past years, and we have extolled it's virtues, but this Eurodam cruise seemed understaffed, and the service was lackadaisical at best. We booked a Signature Suite but found that it was just a larger verandah stateroom with absolutely no "suite" amenities. Upon initial boarding, there was no ...

On par with the Jewel of the Seas

The Eurodam and the Jewel of the seas are almost identical in size. The Jewel has a more customer friendly central area that can be used to host music and dance events, too. It has a larger outdoor pool with far more sunbeds than the Eurodam. The Eurodam has a more enclosed, covered pool area as if it was designed for overcast, chilly North Sea sailings. The Jewel also has a solarium type warm ...

A very mixed review

I swear that cruise lines encourage (or at least allow) employees to slack off, or more likely, weaponize incompetence on the first and last days of the cruise. After a smooth embarkation we were aghast that not only was the maître d’ not available to fix the incorrect dining assignment we had been given, but we were told to stand in two long lines that were both the wrong line. It turns out ...

Losing its competitive edge

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Eurodam

The Eurodam is a stately, well-kept ship. We very much enjoyed its classic ambiance and lovely public spaces. Embarkation was quick and flawless. Our rear verandah stateroom was immaculately appointed and our room stewards were top notch. The main dining room and Tamarind restaurant offered impressive fare. But our experience included three major disappointments, and as such this was the ...

This was my first cruise since COVID, and all cruise ships may now be the same, but I really missed all the small niceties on this ship. We sailed with a group of 10 and were not able to secure any kind of set dining time, despite having a 2 year old in our group. This made each dinner time unnecessarily stressful, standing in line for "open dining" and hoping for a table within the next couple ...

Family Christmas Week Caribbean Cruise

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Eurodam

This is the second time I've sailed on the Eurodam this year. In February, my husband and I sailed to Hawaii and liked it for a leisurely senior sailing (we read lots of novels)--but it was also a great choice for a three-generation family Christmas week cruise. Let it be said that there were some skeptical cruisers on board--but they were won over by the low-key ship, the good food that included ...

Declining services and bad ports

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Eurodam

After sailing on the Eurodam two previous times in the past 14 months, we were looking forward to this trip. Our disappointment was primarily in the fact that the ship’s services have declined significantly. The ship has discontinued its production shows. And the level of talent being hired for the main stage is also declining. Further, the ship no longer offers lunch in the dining room ...

Met my expectations!

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Eurodam

I consider myself a veteran cruiser and, having done my research, thought it was time to try my first HAL cruise for my 'bucket list" Panama Canal trip. It definitely met my expectations and more. This was also my first sailing from Ft. Lauderdale. Having flown in the day before, we stayed at a hotel near the port. Embarkation was smooth with just a short wait. The terminal is smaller ...

Wow. What a great ship and cruise line. We have been cruising with Princess the last four times and thought it was time for a change. And I’m glad we did! Embarkation and disembarkation were an absolute breeze, service was excellent. From the pool guys to the officers, everyone was wonderful. The ship layout was lovely and simple to navigate. Our verandah room 8014 was lovely and quiet. We never ...

Wonderful Experience on the Eurodam

The service onboard was outstanding, the food was excellent, and we plan on sailing with HAL and the Eurodam in the future. We pretty simple in our tastes, and don't need ice skating rinks climbing walls, water slides, or big screens on deck to enjoy a cruise. I like the fact that HAL still embraces the traditional Promenade Deck, as a relatively quiet place to relax, read, or take a stroll ...
