SHIP – The Eurordam is a good size ship. We enjoy the mid to smaller size cruise ship and this fit right in to that - not the mega-ships. Even though the ship was sold-out, there were still plenty of places to sit and read and relax without feeling overwhelmed by people. It’s a very clean ship and things seemed to be in good repair. I think the pool is a bit small, but then we were cruising the ...
SHIP: The ship was good size with lots of options for eating, drinking, walking, exercising, relaxing, or reading. It was very clean with hand sanitizer dispensers spread throughout the ship. The pool was a little on the small size, but most people were very content to use the lounge chairs around the pool and just relax. The "adult pool" was a smoker's paradise so we avoided it. Not a lot of ...
After a year absence from cruising, things had changed. Food is important to us, I think it has improved, my wife wasn't sure. Service was excellent and professional but fewer stewards. The room was good, clean and in good repair. They have reduced the room stewards by maybe 2/3rds, they work hard and do a good job but cant measure up to more stewards. The crew around the ship is smaller, ...
My husband and I (60s, late 50s) have just returned from our wonderful Baltic Adventure sailing. Almost 40 cruises for myself as a travel agent since 1978, and my husband has sailed on around 20. We like that Holland America is keeping their ships from the Megaship model. We'd dined at the Pinnacle Grill, (excellent, we both had beef), Canaletto was a tasty option one night. Tamarind has a lovely ...
I've cruised approx. 8 times on other cruise lines, mainly Princess. This was my first cruise with HAL. I found the vibration of the ship, even in port, to be excessive. I've never experienced anything like it. It made me nauseous. When eating on the Lido deck, I had to choose an area that spanned the width of the ship. The flowers on the tables were shaking.
Also, I did not care for ...
I really liked the Eurodam and the semi obstructed oceanview cabin was a really nice size and very comfortable.
Dining was excellent and the service on board was really quite good. There was a huge variety of food available in the Buffett and on the menu at dinner times. We found the wine to be very very overpriced and the selection of wines was very poor. Our group of six Aussies are a bit ...
Agree with many other folks that the Eurodam is definitely in need of a facelift - tired furnishings & worn appearance. Shore excursions add HUGE dollars to your overall cost. Yes, the liquor policy is very restrictive; each person may bring ONE bottle of wine at the beginning of the cruise but then you must pay for HAL'S overpriced alcohol. No more bringing ANY liquor on board. You are ...
We (late 50's couple) did the 12-day Baltic cruise in July 2015. This was our 2nd cruise on HAL (9th cruise overall) and after this cruise, I think HAL may become our "go-to" cruise line.
Design of the Ship -- I want to start with this because there were three things which I loved about this ship and which would make me want to sail on the Eurodam all the time. 1) There is a real promenade ...
Generally the ship was "tired" even though it's not very old. Carpeting, wall paper, furniture and bathrooms were all shabby and in need of updating. Food in the Lido and Rembrandt went from mediocre to terrible with service good one day and lousy the next. The premium restaurants ($10-$49 per person per meal extra) had very good food and very good to excellent service. In the Rembrandt ...
What can I say? We loved it. The weather is perfect in July for touring. Chilly in the morning... warming as the day goes on.
Sailing into Stockholm is beyond peaceful and beautiful. (Veranda cabin pays for itself that morning alone!)
HAL's excursions in St. Petersburg were the only ship excursions we did. The canal ride to Church of the Spilled Blood during the day and the Hermitage ...
