We had 10 cabins and were there to celebrate a birthday. I was expecting an unruly party crowd and was surprised to see people behaving maturely on this ship. Perhaps it was the time of year and the fact that kids were still in school. There were kids there but most were kept in check. The ship was easy to navigate and nothing was too far away. Cabin has only one plug so bring a strip. Nothing good on tv that has two complimentary movie channels. Casino is nice with all games, including craps. Bingo paid well if you won unlike Celebrity’s bingo. Water slide looked like a blast but it was too cold on this voyage. Entertainment that we saw was pretty boring. Dress like the 50’s, sing 50’s songs. Next night, dress like the 70’s, sing 70’s songs, etc. The high energy cruise director made things fun when he was in charge. Service in the cabin and the dining room were excellent. The food was good but not memorable. Karaoke was fun as was Papas and Beer in Ensenada. I would go on this cruise again. For an inexpensive getaway it can’t be beat. Read Less

This New Years cruise met every expectation of a fun filled and beautiful holiday. The ship itself is an antique lover's paradise. The statues, the paintings, the sculptures, the murals, were startlingly gorgeous and so rare to find on ships other than Holland America. The food was excellent.Menus in the dining room included those of celebrity chefs-David Burke and Rudi Sodamin. Rudi-Holland's Master chef usually has seafood offerings in the Pinnacle Grill but this cruise unfortunately not. However his creations of coconut shrimp and pot roast served in the Vista dining room were exceptional. The music especially the BB King band brought the whole ship to life in the evenings and the New Years celebration with all the ship's musicians was memorable. The passengers were a wonderful mix with many young families with children on holiday as well as multi generational families.Beautiful to see! The children's clubs must have met the children's needs as they did not seem to want to leave the clubs. Mexico was a happy holiday itinerary and San Diego -what a beautiful port to leave from. Always the service on Holland is wonderful and the bartenders and the housekeeping staff made this cruise such a pleasure to be with them. Now for the star of the show-The Captain!! Captain Rens van Eerten was so visible around the ship-even picking up glasses, talking to everyone, humourous and engaging,. His spirit and presence around the ship was 5 star!!Thank you for contributing to a memorable New Years Cruise! Read Less

The good: It was a wonderful and festive cruise. We had never been on a Christmas cruise. The ship was decorated to the max. The crew was feeling the atmosphere and it showed in their interaction with the guests. The shows were outstanding. Footloose, Elements, and the Beatles show on the last night should not be missed. We were also treated to a special presentation on Christmas day that was right up there with the others. Excellent voices. Great showmanship. These were the best shows we have seen on any cruise we have been on. The food was hit and miss. Favorites: The filet mignon at Teppanyaki and the brisket and banana pudding at the Q. The low, the carving brisket at the Buffet that was inedible. It was like chewing on a rubber band. The weather was clear and warm at all three ports .North of Cabo it was cooler and windy. That's the way it is in the winter. The bad: At al the restaurants there was a long time between placing your order and when it arrived resulting in a lot of meals not eaten there by us. We had an aft balcony on the twelfth floor. Every evening from 9 to midnight you could hear/feel the boomba, boomba, beat from the nightclub above which was loud enough that we had to wear earplugs. The other problem was the soot. Little black spots that glob on anything on the balcony including you. One night at about 3am, I opened the slider door to get some fresh air. I was greeted with an aweful burnt stench. What were they burning? As a result, no more aft rooms for us! This was not a reflection on our rooom steward who was friendly and did the standard of keeping our room neat and tidy. The ugly: The embarkation was ugly. There was a 1 !/2 hour delay getting started. We got in a line that was moving through a tent, but when we got up to the tent we were told it was for Haven guests. Not a problem. They paid for it. The Port yellow vests told the rest of us to line up against the white tent going east. Most people did so. The line ended up being a big "U" that went well past the entrance to the port terminal. They had the black ribbon partitions. around the front of the opening of the tent and in front of the people in line against the white tent.. One of the port guys opened one of  the black ribbons not in front of the people in line. Then a wohle bunch of people not in line bum rushed into the terminal. People in line started yelling and.opened their ribbon. Then it was a free for all. Not a good scene. Nobody was hurt that I know of.but an ugly scene nonetheless. Signage was needed for guests to be in the proper line. Once inside and through security things went smoothly. Read Less

This was our first cruise while we are world travelers. This cruise was beyond our expectation in every way you could imagine. An amazing organization from the start to the end with impeccable staff & all you need to enjoy in 10 days. From the entertainment including great shows, comedy, singers and dancers, then the fitness center with spa, hair & nail salon, relaxation, tanning on the deck, watching top movies, for food, several dining rooms & buffet with variation in taste & freshly prepared meals, & many more to keep every one happy on the cruise. The 4 Mexican ports the ship stopped were really worth visiting. Anything you needed was at your disposal with great services & front desk as your guide. The Captain was always anouncing the big events & keeping us informed of the weather & sailing condition. Thanks to the entire crew. We highly recommend the Grand Princess. Read Less

My family of four just returned from our seven nights on the Joy, and we couldn't be more thrilled about our vacation! This was our first time cruising with Norwegian but our eighth cruise overall. We have previously sailed with Royal Caribbean and Carnival, and after reading about how much Norwegian has improved over the years, we couldn't wait to give them a try. Think NCL is the red-headed step-child of the cruising industry? Think again! From our experience, and while there are some areas that can be improved, they are right up there with the other top dogs, and I'll explain why. -Embarkation Day- We flew into LAX from Chicago the day before we set sail as it is always nice to have a cushion in case anything decides to go crazy. When we arrived, we took an hour long Lyft from the airport to Long Beach where we were staying, conveniently located about ten minutes from the port. With the airport being so far from the our hotel (and the cruise port), it was a good $50 to get us there, and you can expect to pay more on peak travel times during the day (more on this later). Finally its the day we've been waiting for for MONTHS, and we couldn't wait to get going! On the morning of our sailing, we took another Lyft to the port around 10am and arrived with no issues. After handing off our bags, we walked into the terminal to find a massive amount of cruisers already there. Overall, the embarkation process was pretty smooth. They separate you into lines based on which deck your stateroom is on, check over your documents, give you your sailing cards, and send you on your way. However, since we arrived before the ship was ready to board, we ended up waiting a little bit which was the only minor drawback. For this sailing, we booked a Concierge level stateroom (in between a regular stateroom and The Haven), so we were given a dedicated line and area to wait in. Still, there were many other excited cruisers waiting in a small corner, along with those in regular staterooms waiting in chairs in the main area. Given the size of the terminal, it can fill up quite quickly if the ship is not open yet, but if you arrive after opening, you should have no problems. When they opened the gates, we were the first to board, so it was a pretty painless process. -Ship- Stunning. Elegant. Beautiful. CLEAN. So many great words to describe the Norwegian Joy. Being just recently refurbished after relocating from Asia, everything looked, felt, and smelled brand new, and the crew made sure it stayed that way. We always saw crew cleaning, polishing, you name it. As for getting around, the Joy is easy to navigate for the most part, although there are some quirky spots. Along with NCL's app, there are touch-screens located on every deck by every elevator bank to help you get around. Need to look at the daily activities? They are there. Need to find where the closest restroom is? It'll tell you. Had too many drinks and don't remember how to get back to your room? It'll give you step-by-step instructions and a map on how to get back, and so much more. See how full dining rooms are, make reservations, and view menus all at your convenience. -Activities and Entertainment- This is where the Norwegian Joy really shines. There is so much to do aboard the ship it is nearly impossible to be bored. Let's list them: Two water slides, two pools, hot tubs, go karts, laser tag, Virtual Reality Arcade, mini golf, casino, music, bars, lounges, shows, games, competitions, comedy, and the list goes on! When was the last time you saw go karts on a cruise?! These things were FAST and so much fun to drive. We did them during the day and night, and being on the top deck, it was neat to see the track and ocean at the different times. If you choose to do laser tag, definitely book it at night. We were highly impressed with the setup and quality of the game. One area many reviews complained about was the up-charges for these activities. Go Karts will put you back $15/person, laser tag $10/person, the Galaxy Pavilion (VR) $7/game (or $20 for four), and Wine Lovers The Musical ($12/person). At Wine Lovers, you receive SEVEN generous wine tastings and a three-course lunch all while enjoying the comedy musical put on by the Footloose leads. It was an incredible value that'll leaving you laughing and feeling good on your way out. We loved all four options and definitely found them worth-while, plus you're on vacation! Experience what the ship has to offer if you would enjoy these things. On the same note, if these activities were free, I couldn't imagine the lines and headaches it would cause trying to get four thousand people a chance to participate. The small cost helps control the flow which we found to be quite painless. A few other can't-misses are shows Footloose and Elements with a fantastic and talented cast, Deal Or No Deal game show, Bejeweled Heist, and countless other activities found at any given time around the ship. Lastly, don't forget to make reservations! Shows can be reserved in advance, but go karts, laser tag, Bejeweled, and comedy shows need to be reserved as soon as you board. Reservations can be made in The Social, a process that could certainly stand to be improved, but we managed. -Dining- And here we find some criticism. Norwegian offers a unique take on dining called Freestyle Dining. Essentially, you eat what you want when you want without any set dining times or attire. This sounds (mostly) great in theory, but it did raise a few problems. To understand why, we need to compare to how other cruise lines do dining. Traditionally, you receive set dining time (either earlier around 5 or later around 8), and you are assigned the same table and waitstaff each evening. This allows you to be seated right away, the waitstaff to gets to know you and your preferences, and it provides plenty of time to dine before the next seating. What we experienced on this cruise was quite the opposite, while admittedly we could have planned better. The Joy has three main dining rooms: The Manhattan Room, Savor, and Taste. The Manhattan Room is the largest of the three, but each one offers the same menu every night. On the first evening, we arrived at The Manhattan Room around 6pm to discover a huge line of people waiting to be sat. Granted this is peak dining time, so we were quoted a 45-minute wait, while the other two dining rooms had a wait of an hour. We did not expect waits to be this long, especially because we were used to just walking in on previous cruises. Eventually we were sat, and we found these dining rooms to operate like normal restaurants. They were focused on getting tables in and out, with little to no personability from the waitstaff. Sure they were pleasant, but we felt rushed and like we were in the way. Every evening in the dining room was like this, although we planned better on following nights. From a food aspect, it was delicious, fresh, and prepared perfectly. We also had a dining package for three specialty restaurants. We chose to eat at Ocean Blue, Le Bistro, and Cagney's Steakhouse. The experiences here far outshine the main dining rooms, and I would HIGHLY recommend buying this package if your booking doesn't already come with one as it as a great value. Our final bill we would have paid came out to be over $300 for four people at Cagney's, but we actually paid around half that with the package. Overall, we were happy with our dining experiences even though we were caught off-guard the first evening. You CAN make dining reservations for the main dining rooms (and specialty if you choose) online before you sail which I absolutely recommend doing. Other free dining options include The Observation Lounge for lite bites, The Local for 24-hour options (free but with a 20% automatic gratuity added), and The Garden Buffet which we were highly impressed with. -Ports and Excursions- Cabo: We chose to do Norwegian's Luxury Day Sail and Snorkel which was so much fun! We shared a very nice sailboat with about 10 other people and were accompanied by a photographer, captain, and two guides. The sailing lasted about three hours, and they provided a snack, lunch, and unlimited drinks, as well as stops at popular spots and some time to snorkel. While we didn't really spend any time on land, we got some beautiful views of the port, delicious food, and high-quality service from everyone on board. Highly recommend! Mazatlan: We chose not to book an excursion for this stop, but we ended up getting an open-air taxi once we arrived. The driver charged $25/person to drive us to some hotspots which lasted around 4 hours. The port itself is beautiful, and we got to see a great deal of it. Puerto Vallarta: For this spot we booked the Vallarta Outdoor Zipline Adventure, but it ended up being SO much more! We began with a 20-minute speedboat ride to a secluded location to begin our journey up the mountains. We then rode in an off-road vehicle up to base camp where we found our absolutely excellent tour guides. After getting suited up, we rode mules the rest of the way to the first zip line. In the end, we completed five zip-lines, a repel down a waterfall, a free-fall down another waterfall, two water slides, and a zipline "roller coaster." The entire thing lasted about 6 hours, with time for refreshments and viewing pictures afterwards. Our tour guides, especially Edgar, were incredible and quite possibly the best I've had anywhere. If you choose this adventure, you MUST bring a swimsuit and change of clothes. You do get fully submerged in water, so bring closed-toed shoes you don't mind getting wet or water shoes. I would give this excursion 15/10 stars. Incredible time! -Disembarkation- For us the disembarkation was a non-issue, but I imagine it was quite the headache for others. The deboarding process was supposed to begin at 7am, but the ship was not cleared by customs until around 8:30. For anyone with early flights this was probably a nightmare. Luckily we stayed in LA another two days so we weren't pressed for time. The only small annoyance was once we were in the terminal. Since disembarkation was behind 1.5 hours, all of those people were released into the terminal when the ship was cleared, so we ended up waiting in line for customs for nearly an hour. We got off the ship at 9am and weren't out of the terminal until after 10am. Grabbing a Lyft outside was quite easy, and we were on our way. -Summary- While improvements could be made with dining, we were highly impressed with the Norwegian Joy and the quality of service that Norwegian offered. We had an amazing time and were constantly taking part in different activities around the ship. As I always say, your vacation is what you make of it, and Norwegian makes it easy to make it great! We booked this cruise almost 18 months in advance. My husband and I were so excited to go on this cruise. Embarking the ship was so easy, the employees guiding us were so nice and courteous. The cabin was very clean and pretty spacious. We had a deluxe balcony and I loved being able to sit outside with a little privacy and just relax to the sound of the water and beauty of the ocean. The ship is beautiful, golden and glass fixtures everywhere. It is really impressive. We booked two shore excursions, one in Puerto Vallarta and one in Mazatlan. They were both good and I recommend the beach excursion in Puerto Vallarta. We were bussed to a resort where we were able to sit under a large umbrella on the beach. We had our choice of infinity pool or ocean to swim in. The outdoor resteraunt at the resort serves the best fish tacos. We actually lost time in Cabo because of issues with speed on the ship, something with the generator. We were supposed to be at port from 11am to 8pm, we ended up porting from 6am to noon. It didn't even seem worth it to me to get up at 4am to get dressed and ready to disembark by 6am. I was really disappointed and felt like we got cheated out of this port. This was disappointing to say the least. The entertainment on the ship, in my opinion was terrible. It was boring and dry. There was no "adult" entertainment as far as I was concerned. I expected the entertainment to change from G rated to at least PG13 at night. This ship seems to cater to an older crowd of people, and the music was also horrible on deck. They played the Tommy Dorsey band on loop at the adult pool and I wanted to fling myself onto the lower deck. Alot of activities during the day had to do with back pain, foot pain, neck pain, etc. I'm on a ship to have fun, not get diagnosed. My husband and I are in our early 40s and would have liked to have seen and heard a better variety of music, shows, and activities other than chinese herbal remedies for hemorrhoids (I made up the hemorrhoid part). The Medallion App that they are so proud of is a gigantic waste of time. The app was down from Saturday until Wednesday on the Android app. We couldn't see what was going on unless we walked to a board near the elevators. Also they spoke so highly of the journey experience to see where the ship was, this portion of the app never worked on our Android phones. The food was mediocre at best. Nothing knocked our socks off, not even the Captains Grill. We paid extra for this experience and it was nothing to write home about. I had lobster here and actually ended up getting sick. After losing every bit of substinance in my body, I was finally able to stop sweating and get some rest. Terrible experience. My experience with the staff was also not a positive one. I usually bring 150 with me to tip above and beyond my prepaid gratuity. I am from Las Vegas, and we tip people when they do a good job. Needless to say, I have 130 bucks in my pocket. The only person I tipped was my steward. He was fantastic. My experience with the employees were that they were unhappy and maybe overworked. We didn't ask for any unusual requests. We are usually pretty self reliant. But when I speak to someone and say good morning, or hello, I do expect a nod, smile or a hello, some kind of acknowledgement. Apparently this is too much for the majority of them. I cant tell you how many times I walked up to a bar or a coffee stand to order something and was completely ignored. After a while I got tired of having to ask the person manning the counter to help me, so I gave up. Also, the Princess Live bar was the same. The bartender was making a drink doing some pretty fancy stuff with his shaking and pouring, and my husband said "wow, you reminded me of Tom Cruise in Cocktail". The bartender responded under his breath out of earshot, so I called him out and asked him to speak up. He turned his back to me and said something I could not hear, so I again asked him what he said. At this point he ignored me and pretended like we weren't there. My opinion is that some of their employees need to go through some extensive customer service training on common courtesy. This being said, I had more fun on a 4 day carnival cruise for a fraction of what I paid for this. I realize it is the same company, but it's obvious to me that customer service on the section 8 carnival cruise is way more important to those employees than the Royal Princess employees. I don't think I will be cruising with them in the future. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we cruise with carnival in the past and really enjoyed the experience we’ve had. We knew that this was going to be the inaugural cruise for the panorama and we’re super excited to get on board with a balcony room. Our experience all started off with our luggage being delivered and having a Broken shoulder strap caused by the luggage delivery service that carnival provides. While in route to Ensenada our first evening we had gone to sleep only to be awoken around 3:15 in the morning to water dumping into our room and onto our bed while we were sleeping. We called maintenance and they promptly moved us within the next 30 to 45 minutes to another balcony room. The on-duty supervisor said they would call us the next morning with some sort of compensation for the trouble we had gone through between the water dumping into our room and my back being delivered in a broken condition. They never called us and I actually had to go down the next morning and engage the contact only to have them give us a $50 meal coupon to bonsai sushi for the negative experience that we had. We gratefully excepted the meal coupon but also welcomed something more than just a meal coupon. Fast forward to later that evening where we went to check in for our anytime dining. We had a check in time for our meal at 5:45 PM we waited in line at the front of the dining hall for over 30 minutes and what seem to be absolute pandemonium trying to get into the dining area with people shoving to get to the front of the line. By the time we gpt seated, it took an additional 20 to 30 minutes to have anyone even acknowledge us at the small table at the furthest most rear part of the ship. After some water and bread we decided to just go back to the room and order room service which turned out to be a big mistake. Later that evening and into the early morning hours after consuming a Caesar salad in what looked like more of a soup, my wife started experiencing stomach pains which was followed by dry heaving and vomiting. For the next two days and last two days of the cruise my wife was stuck in the cabin in bed with what appeared to be a fever and flu like symptoms. She could barely get up on her own accord and was only able to get out for about an hour on the second day then right back to bed. When I made the infirmary aware of what was going on they told me to give her some aspirin which they charged me for. I’m not complaining about the ship but our experience was absolutely terrible. Carnival had every opportunity to make it right and they’ve only offered us $100 per person to use towards our next onboard credit. I am quite frankly disgusted with the lack of customer service we received or empathy for that matter and more than likely will not be cruising with carnival ever again. Read Less

My husband and I were looking for a relaxing end of the year cruise. I have read quite a few reviews from people with quite a bit of complaints. First of all, the ship was beautiful. The crew does a fabulous job keeping it clean and maintained. I will also mention at this time that the crew were friendly and helpful. Steward would come in late morning, straighten up the room, put out a fresh bucket of ice and was there for anything else we needed. Nighttime turn down included some chocolate and all the information/itinerary for the next day. Our cabin was clean, and apparently passengers on this ship have not been on other ships when they complain about the size of the room. We stayed in a deluxe balcony room, which has a pullout sofa. Plenty room to hang all your clothes as well as a cabinet for your folded items. Everything about this room was standard for a cruise ship, so all the complaints about a room being "too small" and the balcony "only having 2 chairs" is how it is on all ships unless you pay for a bigger cabin. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept great. I did not hear any outside noise except people moving around the chairs on the deck, no big deal. We kept the AC/heat off and chose to keep our deck door open for fresh air while we were in the cabin. There was a great selection of things to watch on tv when you needed to relax a minute in your room. The complaints about the elevators were not really a thing for me either. I booked a room on deck 15, towards the very back. We would go from the front of the ship to the back very quickly by just going up to the first deck that was staterooms and walk through the hallway until we were to the last set of lifts. You can move very quickly from front to back by doing this. The only elevators that were crowded were the ones that were mid ship. Entertainment was fun, we like to participate in trivia games and "game shows" as well as watch demonstrations. Dining was really good in the dining room, the buffet did tend to have same items at breakfast, but, if you didn't eat one of everything everyday, you will be fine. Nobody seems to realize that there are over 3500 people onboard, how much food do you think they can fit? Also, I have been on ships that are constantly closing buffets after 2 hours to get ready for the next meal. This buffet is open 24 hours. They always have one side open with a ton of choices. Lastly, I enjoyed the medallion class. Made everything so easy. It was our anniversary and when we went to get a drink, the bartender told us to "hold on" and went and got us a bottle of champagne. So having all of our information on that one little token was great. Super easy to get into the room. Easy to identify us. I loved it. If you are thinking of going on this ship to Mexican Riviera, do it. My friend has been on this ship when it goes to Alaska. He loves it. Great vacation. Read Less

The Good: Food was excellent. Footloose was excellent. The Beatles revolution was great but make sure you show up an hour early if you want a seat at the cavern. Magic Show was okay. Elements was great! Go Karts surprisingly a lot of fun. They were faster then I expected. Most of the singers in the restaurants were not that great except for Katie Weddle who was one of the best singers I have ever heard. The ports of call were great except for Cabo San Lucas which kinda sucked because people were really aggressive trying to get my business. The Bad: I found myself bored often on this ship. between 6pm to 11pm there is stuff to do. Other times it's very hit or miss. The nightlife was terrible the first few days on the ship. If you like to always have something to do I would not recommend this ship. Also the specialty restaurant Q is not that great. The portions are way to big and quite frankly there are much better barbecue places in the world. The fact that Go Karts, Laser Tag and the Arcade cost extra is a bummer. The 7d game in the arcade is awesome though. I really missed not having a sports complex. They didn't have a ping pong tournament. Lots of little extra things like that seemed to be missing which made it boring at times. The dance lessons offered on the ship were not that good. The Gym seemed a little small. The public bathroom doors were left open all the time every day on the ship. It was gross. You could both hear and smell things at time. Not to mention I don't enjoy people being able to see me use a urinal. Also, you better bring your own band aides because they will charge you an arm and a leg if you need one. Ridiculous. Overall I enjoyed myself but would not do this ship again as I like to have more things to do on a ship. I've done the Norwegian Getaway which I believe is the same class of ship and liked that boat a lot more! Read Less

This was our second cruise with Carnival. Our experience was beyond expectations. Our cabin steward Henry was very accommodating and helpful. I had requested some bathrobes and said the next day would be fine. When we came back from brunch there they were. Our cabin was on the Panorama deck, room 8250. It was a perfect location. One flight of stairs up and we were on the serenity deck enjoying some drinks and peace and quiet. Our first night we dined and Nick and Nora’s. The atmosphere, service, and food was way beyond our expectations. So much so that we booked an additional reservation for the end of our cruise. The main dining room was awesome. Our head waiter Eduardo was always smiling and making sure we were completely satisfied with our dining experience. We requested his section for all of our breakfasts and dinner meals. Our favorite bar was by far the Alchemy Bar. Katie was totally entertaining and always smiling. The only negative we experienced was in the Red Frog Pub on karaoke night. We were sitting at a table and the female server had an attitude with us because we would not buy the more expensive larger drinks they offered. I had to go to the bar to order a drink fir my wife and myself. Other than that the entire cruise was exceptional. We are planning on a 5 day cruise next year followed by the 15 day Hawaii cruise in 2021. Carnival Miracle will akways be our ship of choice. Read Less

We felt like family when we went there. Very personalized and awesome treatment and concern about our experience. They deserve a raise! Those guys can make or break a guest experience and they were expediting drinks and bringing joy to each person they interacted with. I was sick..cold..while there and they tried to help nurse me back with tea honey recommendations and soup. Tired to help me to participate with ob stage events and give confidence but I was too shy...love them guys .Job well done! Thanks for my amazing trip while I was there. Cant wait to go again! My friend actually won this cruise and asked me to go with her. I was thrilled to have this opportunity to enjoy this beautiful ship and meet new friends along the way. When we were finally able to enter we were greeted by sanitation stations all over the ship, some were people physically squirting sanitation on our hands and others were do it yourself stations. I was amazed at seeing the employees literally scrubbing down the walls and handrails to our stateroom twice a day. We were lucky enough to have a cabin with a balcony and the cabin was great. Honestly I was thinking it would be so small you could barely move but it was spacious and well thought out. Despite the situation I thought that the crew really did everything in their power to keep all of the people on this ship is safe as possible. I had a really great time on this beautiful ship and would diffidently recommend anyone to enjoy this ship and crew. The cruise director Roberto and Assistant cruise director Bianca were amazing at keeping everything so lively, fun, and entertaining. I have to give a shout out to a couple workers in the Garden Cafe. The food was surprisingly good with a good selection for different pallets. The special shout out has to go to June, Clyde and Mark because they were friendly and kind and were always willing to help whenever they could. Thank you all for making this cruise amazing. So the day we arrive is an easy transition. The boat boarding goes very smooth. Were greeted by pleasant employees that carry infectious smiles on their faces. As we arrive we payed for early to the fun so our room was ready. Our room appearance was neat. However the ship was out dated! It had a smell that I couldnt really figure it but it wasn't pleasant. Our rm was u110. We were right next to the electrical room. Every night was HOT! MISERABLE ! THE ROOM SMELLED LIKE BURNT WIRES AND NEEDLESS TO SAY we woke up with severe headaches every morning. We tried to be positive and ask for a fan. Even offered to pay in which we were denied. The ship is of fair size but the ship had alot more movement than many others I have been on. Seasick to say the least. AT THE PORT OF ENSENADA, we get off the ship to do our activity paid and chosen that we paid 189 to do . We rode the four wheelers maybe 30 mins. However the drive to get to them took an hr. No where to use the restroom for hrs. No where to get a drink. However the tour guides were great but did mention because of our American President Trump he could no longer get a passport. Kinda made me wonder. The excursion had so much driving to get to the event we didnt get to explore Ensanada. Back to the ship. The food was nasty except for the outside cooking. The outside food was so much better than the inside. Lastly I'd like to thank the staff because they were tremendously wonderful and were ALL FAR TOO GOOD FOR THE SHIP ITSELF. Read Less

i hadn't been to Mexico in many years, so I wanted to check it out. Princess offered me a comp, so why not. Cabo was great but the shore excursion to the "resort" ended up being on a very crowded public beach with dirty couches and no lounge chairs for us. the beach is typical now - the drop in the sand to get into the water was just as bad as many Caribbean beaches these days. I found Mazatlan to be dumpy. The last time I was in Puerto Vallarta there were only three or four hotels. what a change. we went to the Hyatt away from the masses and the resort was great. my room steward was great and I showed him my appreciation. Being on Keto, I ate in the buffet almost all of the time. Many choices, good food but they should open for dinner at 5 pm instead of 5:30, no biggie. The casino comped me at the Crown Grill - food and service was great - left a pretty big tip - maitre d' even asked me if I was sure if i wanted to leave that much - well, turns out he ended up sending in a charge to my room for the meal even though I handed him the casino invite. After a visit to guest services and being questioned, they reversed the charge. a high point was that i lost my watch at the pool - someone actually turned it into lost and found and I got it back. service overall was good but they have the same problem with the slow bartenders at the bars so i just waited til i got to the casino to drink. casino was filthy and it seemed as though it was never cleaned during the week. machines pretty much sucked but i did manage to get a jackpot which covered most of my losses. embarkation and debarkation went very smoothly. the new medallion is not all that it is supposed to be - at least not yet - many of us were charged for items we didnt buy - if you walk by a bar or a store, for some reason, a charge seemed to appear. Also, I do not like my name posted outside my cabin. it was nice, though, to be able to walk up to your room and your door unlocks. also, they advertise heavily how you can use your medallion anywhere on the ship to place an order. I tried four different times and different locations and each time I was told that I was not in an area serviced by the medallion. the internet was just as shoddy as on other ships. it worked probably half of the time. sanctuary pool area is the only way to go if you dont want to be around kids. they did have the most amount of hot tubs that i've ever seen on a ship - at least 10. plenty of chairs to sit anywhere - unlike MSC Meraviglia and Seaside - we could never find a chair. The showroom does not have enough seats for a cruise of over 3500 ppl. I could not get a seat at any of the shows. Ppl put their bags on the seats next to them to take up seats. something needs to be done about that. i wrote that in my review with princess. let me know if you have any questions. if you don't know, san pedro (pier in LA) is in a pretty lousey area so be aware. that's about it mj in ny Read Less

I wanted to experience a new ship. I don’t like to be negative but I really wasn’t impressed! Nice staff but I had issues with the television and air conditioning unit. Signal on tv was lost constantly. I think the entertainment was pretty weak and wasn’t really age appropriate. Two of the saunas we’re inoperable and it left over crowding in the remaining it seemed that some staff weren’t very happy. Hard to understand some while others seemed lost when I asked questions. I think if I were to rate this cruise overall I think I would give it a 6 at best. The price was fair but I’d rather pay more for more enjoyable features. I really think that everyone working for this ship should be more informed and educated so that when questions are asked the answers should be correct. All in all I had a fairly good trip Read Less

because of need, requirement!, to reserve show times i never saw a show. both early showings of jersey boys where reserved out by 4.30 on day of sailing and could sign up on line before cruise. boat had not left the dock and i could not reserve a seat. many of the other shows had same requirement -- did not see a show!! spa was a complete rip off -- they wanted more for 7 day cruise then i paid on longer cruise, 12-21 days. after heavy handed spa tour where u are solicited for all their service u are provided card for free drawing BUT u most be present to win. if i had been told that i had to come back at 5.30 to win i would never have submitted myself to 20 minutes of time share type sales pitch as i had bought package before and new all about the spa benefits. oh and no steam or sauna room access after work out, some ships allow, not the bliss did love the many food locations -- it made for short lines in buffet and main dinning rooms. BUT did wait for more than 20 minutes for service in craft beer venue, left w/o buying a beer. EMBARKATION - NCL still has not got this figured out, some people had waits of over an hour. ADVICE either show up WAY early or WAY late if u don't want to stand in a VERY LONG LINE. NCL seems to be the only cruise that has a serious problem getting people on and off their ships Read Less

This was my first cruise and it was great! So much food! Sometimes the food wasn't that hot as I thought it would be, but it still tasted good. There was so much to do! I wish the Go Karts and Laser Tag didn't cost as much. But both water slides were fun!! The pools were little disappointing. They were very small and there's 4,000 guests. Still too small even if 2,000 guests wanted to be at the pool . There was a lot of places to lay out in sun, but you couldn't really get into the pool because all these people were there. We decided to just go to the adult area of 18+ and it was nice. At least there was a water feature to cool off under. The hot tubs were nice too. The other activities and music were fun. I loved Jersey Boys and seeing Comedy shows. I didn't like that the casino smelt the cigarettes. Was there smoking allowed in the closed off part of the casino? Read Less

I joined this cruise because a friend from my past cruise told me about it. My brother joined me on this cruise. It was his first cruise, my third. We both had transfers from and to the airport thru Norwegian. My brother got in 2 hours before me and it took 30 minutes to find the transfer person that would eventually get him to ship 2 hours later. I never found the transfer person at my baggage claim terminal. I wasted an hour and a half asking the info desk where they were, being sent to 2 other terminals, calling and being disconnected from 3 NCL customer services reps, and finally having to take a 50.00 lift ride to the ship. Once we got to the port gate, the port authority guard said they closed the gate at 2:45pm, It was 2:50pm. There were 7 others in front of me and 4 others came after me with the same issue. We all tried to call NCL customer reps, to let them know we weren't being let thru the gate, and all of us got hung up on or disconnected in the process. I ended up calling my brother, who was already onboard, to let the customer service desk on board, that 12 people had been left at the airport by the transfer company. After talking to 4 people, one of the reps got a hold of the port authority guard and they finally cleared us to go thru the gate. No one ever apologized as we went through the check in process. we got on board around 4pm after going through all that mess. Once on board, the cruise went fairly smoothly. The ship, overall, was a beautiful ship. I thought the pool area was poorly designed compared to my 2 other cruises on the Getaway and Breakaway. But I also realize this ship was designed to go to Alaska most of the time, and not to the Mexican Riviera. The dining was great for the most part. A couple people, in our group of 10 to 15 people, had some bad experiences a couple of the nights. The entertainment was pretty good. Jersey Boys and the Beatles put on great shows and the comedians were really good. The ports of call were beautiful, but the excursion variety was lacking for my taste. We did our own thing on 2 of the ports and did one boat sight seeing excursion on Cabo. Not quite as advertised. The service on the ship was excellent, as always. As opposed to the issues getting on the ship, Getting off was the quickest I've seen in my 3 cruises. LAX is possibly the worst airport I have ever flown in or out of. It is a train wreck. The best thing to come from this cruise was all the new friends we made. We met a couple people from my last cruise on day one. within the next 2 days we had a fun group of 10 to 15 people hanging together at different times and places. We always met up in the Solo Lounge at 5pm to get the nights started. Read Less

We chose this cruise primarily for the convenience of the location which required a short plane ride. The Royal Princess was a very nice ship. The Cruise Director was great, and the room steward was outstanding. The beds were one of the best ever! The issues we had that took away from the trip we had looked forward to include a room that was as far from the elevator as possible - we were both medically handicapped and this caused us major issues in the distance required from the elevator to the room. We had many conversations with Princess about our conditions in hopes of a room that would be more accessible. Once they had our money, the could not have cared less about the "guaranteed room" status or allowed us to change our choice to being able to pick our room. Additionally, the A/C was not working in our room and there were seven nights of waking up soaked in sweat! Miserable times. The dining room was o.k. except the service was so slow between courses. The beverage choices were extremely limited if you didn't have the beverage package. Our choice was water, coffee or tea. No lemonade unless you were eating at the buffet. The food did not meet our expectations in comparison to Royal Caribbean's dining room choices. (not even close!). The elevators were on their own programming and it wasn't unusual to wait 5 or 10 minutes for it to stop on your floor. Also very disappointing was the lack of evening shows. Very little was published about what was going on in the showroom. Overall, it was o.k. but definitely not to the standards we had become used to on our other cruises with Royal Caribbean. Particularly since the prices were not any less. Read Less

I have never cruised before nor had a ever wanted to. My friends talked me into it and I am beyond happy they did!!! Can’t wait for my next one. We chose The Bliss and I was blown away with this ship. From the minute we stepped aboard to the sad moment we disembark was the best holiday I have EVER had. I brought all the things for getting sea sick, gravel, bracelets etc. Never used a thing!!! You didn’t feel like you were moving at all, sometimes you forgot you were on the ship. Wow what an experience!! The fun at the pool, always something happening, games or a band, so much fun. Delicious food and such a variety. Cagney was my favourite!!! We had a balcony stateroom and I would sit out there and watch the beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The entertainment was unbelievable, we saw the Jersey boys, a Beatles cover band and three comedians. FABULOUS!! The three ports we went to were amazing, I liked Cabo the best. When I told people this was my first cruise they all said the same thing, you have set the bar high on this cruise, you will never see entertainment like this on any other cruise. Oh well guess I better stick with Norwegain then. Thank you to all the crew on the Bliss, you all were amazing. Thank you to the booking staff as well, you too were amazing and so helpful. This cruise trip was arranged more than 1 year ago. We had never been to Mexico and we wanted to give it a try on the newest NCL ship, Norwegian Bliss. The gorgeous looking Norwegian Bliss was beyond my imagination. We had a wonderful holiday and had fun exploring the 3 cities which Bliss had brought us to. We also enjoyed dancing at different venues in the evenings. With the specialty dining package, it enabled us to try out different food types and dining atmospheres. The shore excursions to Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas were interesting that they had showed us the culture of Mexico and the beautiful cities. I wished the port stay in Cabo San Lucas could be longer as it’s such a beautiful place. We didn’t get much time to shop at the port area after few hours of shore excursion. The dining venues were busy every night but we didn’t have problem getting seats when walking in to any of the main dining restaurant. As our package included 4 specialty dining, we had booked the dinner way in advance with the help of NCL Australia office. Luckily we did it because on Bliss, most specialty dining venues were fully booked on most of the time slots. The “Jersey Boys” was probably one of the main highlights on the ship that the response was overwhelmed with people queuing up outside the theatre as standby. The “Six” is a new show on the ship but the response was not bad as well. The Guest Services team sent a note to my room to welcome our group and helped us with the dance class arrangement. We are grateful to Cruise Director, Jake for this special arrangement, and the kind assistance from Marina from Guest Services. During the trip, I wrote a feedback regarding the time confusion as the NCL app was showing a different timing from the time we were asked to adjust back. Surprising the relevant staff was able to find me at the dining table that particular night to follow up regarding this. Bliss’ public area consists of many nice details and we felt very comfortable at every corners. My personal favourite place is the brilliant Observation Lounge at Deck 15. I enjoyed the light breakfast and watching sunrise from there. Ladies will definitely feel pampered by the shopping spirit on the ship, especially on port days. It will be great if NCL could broadcast more about the shopping offers in Mexico prior to boarding. Bliss is quite unlike the other NCL ships that it is between premium and the mass, it is just so special and lovely. Read Less

My younger son turns 13 in October 2019 and wanted to go to the Splash Academy one last time before he is "too old" as his birthday gift. So, we booked this cruise when we were on NCL Escape in November 2018. Again, we learned from the same mistake, never booked our cruise too early as NCL will drop their price dramatically as they cannot sell their rooms during the regular periods of the year. However, we still love the NCL shows although there are lesser and lesser available. The crew members are still hardworking and most of them are very good! We still love them! Drinks are still good and NCL is still kids friendly! Overall, as a regular NCL cruiser, I am disappointed with NCL on their arrangments on the food they served. They only serve Lobster at the Ocean Blue and Caney's now, and they are not as good as other ships. The crab cakes at Q were too salty, so did the scallops at the Teppys. The lunch's menu at the two "sit-down" restaurants have not been changed during the entire 7-day-cruise. The only good thing is "The Local" still serves good Burgers, but the chefs could not hold the qualities of the wings that they served. My wife and I are both agreed that it is time for us to start sailing with other cruise lines and stat building our membership-tier. Read Less

We wanted to try out something that’s fun and relaxing and were told Carnival Cruise Line could be one good choice. Since the itinerary was able to fit into our overall schedule touring LA and taking another cruise ship, we decided to sail on Carnival Inspiration. We were impressed by the Long Beach Cruise Terminal which is run by Carnival Cruse Line. The fun element started when we were brought to a cocktail table where they would verify our identify. Everything was really just like s flash, scanned and we saw our photo. We didn’t have to go go thru another round or registration and the key card was sent to the stateroom by 1:30pm. The activities on the ship were American orientated but people were enjoying on the ship. It’s Halloween season and many guests were dressed up every day in their own favourite Halloween characters. The main dining room had very friendly and helpful staff. Most dishes were nicely served, which we didn’t have any problem. Except for few Asian / international delights which might need some improvement in terms of the naming of the dishes and cooking styles. I enjoyed the brunch and hi tea on the last sea day, they were deliciously presented. Ensenada is such a nice port in Mexico and I was glad we signed up for a city tour which brought us to the town area. In the evening we would explore few places for dancing and realised Salsa and Bachata were popular on this ship. Great Singers! Though Carnival Inspiration is not a premium ship, it provides the general comfort and fun elements to the guests. For instance, every dinner the staff would gather to dance with the guests. A large variety of complementary food was available 24 hours a day in many different places. The only complaint I had, was not being able to bring any type of soda or water, only Pepsi products were available. We are Dr.pepper fans. The photos were nice, expensive as usual. I was not informed in advanced that getting reservations was going to be so difficult. the last two days of the trip i was finally told to go to the restaurants and see if they could seat us.
