Excellent diner service staffs, cheerful and knowledgeable, specialty restaurant has excellent food quality but frankly was too much for us, tradition diner has good choice of food and menu every nights for 15 nights, deserts were so good all over every dinning facilities, can't stop eating even we are not sweet lovers. Entertainment was so great, we were at princess theater every single night except may be the night out to excursion, Breakfast buffet has so many variety of fruits and never short of, staffs was so helpful to find for us on some special requests, Ship captain always keep us in the loop for unexpected and he was seen touring around decks always, One main reason for us to book Grand Princess again is because we loved its shows when we cruised with them to Mexico in 2017, was such an unforgettable experience then and now too, our next cruise to Alaska in May should be them too but unfortunately the itinerary won't suit us, so choose our 2nd choice Holland America instead, We even put down future cruise deposit, so we will be cruising with them to either Europe or Australia next year. Selected cruise for its Hawaiian ports and warm weather plus sailing on the Grand via San Francisco. Amazing cruise, amazing service by Grand Princess staff, and beautiful islands. Highly recommend Grand Princess for its world class service, wonderful and warm staff, and clean ship. Though it's an older ship, staff work hard to maintain the Grand Princess, and officers and staff were present throughout the ship 24/7. Had an excellent cabin steward and professional and wonderful dining room wait staff. Amazing trip onboard the beautiful Grand Princess! Like our waiter, Jonel Bola said, "The Grand Princess is known for #1 service out of its entire fleet of 18 vessels." The entire dining room staff was amazing and wonderful to all its dining passengers. The food was good, plenty of desserts to choose from, and staff are generous with service, extras/portions, drinks, and smiles! All staff throughout the ship were kind, courteous, warm, and provided consistent service and were very hard working. Service throughout the ship was consistent and amazing! Ship Captain, JP Bryant, was very nice and courteous and always greeted passengers pleasantly. This was a 16-day cruise! Have done shorter and longer cruises, but a 16-day is a perfect amount of time for a winter getaway! I highly recommend the beautiful Grand Princess! Others might be concerned that it's an older ship but I find it to be quaint, comfortable, has character, beautiful, has internet service, and has excellent and consistent customer service. I've sailed on the Grand 6 times and each time I've experienced consistent customer service! And, if something wasn't right, staff will work quickly and very hard to make the problem right! No complaints when I'm on the Grand! Read Less

My first Review. Let me start off by saying we have cruised for more than 180 days so not newbies. We were at the point where we were ready to stop Cruising. Staff and Ships were always good, just tired of Companies themselves. Food was good, always is. Not perfect but with 3500 people on a Ship all eating within 3 hours very good.A big shout out to George and Cezar our waiters in Portafinos, always looking out for us. The Shows and Entertainment were fun, Ships Singers and Dancers always putting on a great show. Not everything was my cup of Tea but others matter as well. Life is not always about me. We generally get an Inside. The Cabin layout was great. You can walk around the bed when set-up as a King, not so on a lot of lines. The Bathroom is also seperated from the room by the closet, so at night you don't flood the room with light (we normally use a tap light). Our steward always had our room made up even if we only left for a short time. Tiki Dave's Ukelele lessons were a blast, he brought about 70 for loaners. All staff were friendly and always smiling. Be that Person that says "You are doing a great job Thank You" the Genuine smiles say it all. I had the opportunity to meet so many great people, and am feeling Blessed. Ignore the Negative, Embrace the Positive. I you go hoping to have a great time you will. The Ship is in great shape. We have been to Hawaii before and Rented Cars at each Island. Prices were down on average $30 a day for larger vehicles(6 person). We invited our tablemates to join us and they did. We are in our late 50's they were 70's and 80's and a good time was had by all. Embrace Life. Have Fun. Laugh. Thank You Princess for helping me remember why we Cruise. Read Less

Everything was fantastic. Price was cheap. Experience was amazing. Recommending it to everyone. Lots of buffet food in Aloha Cafe. Specialty food was horrible so dont try it. Lots of options in the ALoha Cafe Cabin was clean. Little bit smaller but it was comfortable. Shows were amazing and entertaining. Standup comedy and shows were great. Service was great. Everyone was smiling and ready to help. Chef's were engaging and talking. Felt bad for kids to be working so hard on the cruise but when I spoke to one of them he explained me that he's on cruise for 4 months and get 2 months vacation so that was good. Spa is expensive. Massages are $200 or more per hour. We didnt do any shore excursions but its better to rent the car on each island and it was amazing experience. I didnt like the fact that we had to come back before 5-6 to cruise because later evening stay would have been fine and we could have covered more places driving around. Anyways, this Trip is one of my best trip. I do lot of trips but this one stands apart. Read Less

I have very few complaints and even those are minor. This cruise had something for all age groups, although clearly, the vast majority of the passengers were elderly. Daniel Oliver, the nighttime singer in the Crooner's Bar is an outstanding talent, both as a pianist and a vocalist. It was a 15-day cruise but the variety of entertainments, classes and lectures about Hawaii, dance lessons, cooking lessons, you name it was absolutely great. Tomas, our stateroom steward was a jewel. The MaitreD in the Club Class dining was exceptional. The embarking and disembarking process was the smoothest I've ever had. I have a few areas for improvement. In the casino, there were only 2 Buffalo Gold slot machines and the wait to use those was ridiculous. It's a popular game, they need more. The hamburgers were never hot. They were warm or room temperature. The cheese didn't even melt. I went to a lecture entitled future cruses expecting hear about exciting destinations, and instead it was a presentation on interpreting your cruise card and what to expect on a cruise. The lectures on Hawaii were great, educational, and poignant. A note of warning: The excursions fill up quickly! Don't procrastinate if there's something you want to do or it will be full. Last, I want to commend the captain. A passenger became critically ill during this voyage. We were 2 days out of Hawaii. The captain made an announcement that be was advised that the situation was critical and he was speeding with all haste to get to our next port. He apologized, but said the ride was going to be rocky. It was. We rocked, rolled, and lurched about the ship for two days. However, he got us to Ensenada 12 hours earlier than scheduled to try and save this passenger's life. Ambulances were waiting when we docked. I was very impressed with how they responded to this emergency. Finally, the food was outstanding with the exception noted above. Read Less

We traveled with 4 other couples on this 15 day cruise to Hawaii. Our group is from Central Florida and we love life and enjoy having new experiences. Our group enjoys fitness activities, dancing , entertainment, eating and we play board games. My wife and I have been on over 12 Princess cruises and we recommended the other couples try a Princess cruise. We had direct flights from Orlando to LAX and it was a joy to see the Princess Cruise representatives at the baggage claim area. The construction at the airport made the transfer to the terminal a little longer than we thought but we were happy with the care free transfer process. The cruise registration and boarding the ship was also smooth and seamless. The people on the ship were older but we found many like minded passengers. Our group loves fitness programs. Only a few classes were available but they were excellent. Adam taught a dance fitness class at 9:00 am each sea day. It was 40 minutes of great exercise. He is part of the dance company on ship and had tremendous energy and enthusiasm He has a standing invitation to come join us in Florida. Some of us used the fitness center for working out and stretching. Most cruises have an early morning stretch class and an abs class but this cruise lacked any free classes from the fitness professionals. We enjoyed the Tai Chi and Line Dancing classes.I am a Zumba instructor most of our group are in my Zumba class. Later in the cruise we discovered DJ Loverly. (She was great) She played music on deck 14 by the pool by request so we requested a few songs we use in our classes. The first day we had about 20 people join us, the second day we go to about 40 people. On the final day she had me lead a full class. We had about 100 people dancing on deck 14 and 15. Even the bartenders and the cooks at the hamburger and pizza stands were dancing! Molly led us in a Flash Mob and it was great fun! We loved the entertainment and the staff. Oz a good friend after we met him at karaoke on Day 1. Micah, the cruise director from Australia was a joy. We sat in the front row for all the shows and we gave the entertainers and Micah lots of love. We LOVED the entertainment! The singers and dance crew had 3 unique shows and they were spectacular. The comedians, the singers, instrumentalists and magicians were wonderful. Pinnacle was an awesome band. We also became familiar with Matt Thompson - the director of entertainment. He and Micah helped us solve a problem we had with our room later in the cruise when it would have been easier for him to just walk away from the problem. Matt, Micah and OZ all lead by example and are committed to making sure you have an outstanding cruise experience. The educational sessions on the geology of the earth, volcanoes formation and types of volcanoes along with the evolution of plants and wildlife in and around the islands was very enjoyable, I highly recommend all the lectures - even if you are sweaty from the dance fitness class. The food on board was as expected. We enjoyed Sabatinis. We enjoyed the milk and cookies later in the afternoon on Deck 14 while we played our board games . All of us loved the fruit and the option to eat healthy. The staff at the international cafe helped me with my coffee each morning and they were wonderful. We enjoyed the food and only one of us gained more than 5 lbs. We enjoyed the ports in Hawaii. Some people in our group took the cruise tours and some of us rented cars and toured on our own. The Hawaiian excursions were rather expensive so I opted for touring on our own. We had a great trips on Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii. We used the cruise tour excursion on Oahu. We were pleased with the visit to Pearl Harbor and the Island tour. We stayed in a mini suite and we noticed that the room was more worn and tattered than we had hoped for. The bathroom tub drain did not drain very well and our cabin steward did a great job of getting it taken care of. Later in the cruise we had an additional problem. We were able to rectify the problem by working through our cabin steward and getting the help of Matt Thompson and Micah. We were moved to a different room and the situation was resolved thanks to the help of Matt and Micah. Disembarkation was also smooth and we made it home late in the evening. We were tired but very satisfied with our cruise and we would cruise on Princess again Read Less

15 day Grand Princess Hawaiian cruise. It was our first cruise on Princess and we had a wonderful time! The ship is old and shows signs of wear everywhere and the public restrooms were usually broken. The ship had a library and board games. Did not go to the spa. The food was very good and the service was fantastic! We had delicious dinners at the speciality restaurant, Sabatinos. Fun dining and meeting new people at the afternoon tea service and we made friends with our table mates in the main dining room. My favorite place was the coffee and pastry bar in the atrium for morning coffee and croissants. Loved attending the Hawaiian classes and the Hawaiian ambassadors, Rowena and Brian Vasquez, were so welcoming and full of the aloha spirit. The choice of excursions was varied and offered lots of different experiences. We had never been to Kauai so purchased the helicopter and land excursion and it was awesome! The shuttle van driver was very friendly and shared a wealth of information. The helicopter ride was fantastic and I shot a ton of great photos! Read Less

My cabin was spacious and I loved having the balcony to go out on when I was in my room. The Vegas show was great. the entertainment director was everywhere and very good at her job, i loved the Not so newlywed game show night. i enjoyed all the ports and the excursions, however would have enjoyed more cultural options on land. the ports were beautiful and the guides that showed us around were knowledgeable. i would defiantly do this cruise again as well as cruise with Norwegian again. i traveled with my adult family there were no children in my group. embarkation from the boat was simple and easy. Everything for us was perfect, we really enjoyed the cruise. The dining was for all tastes. There was a lot of different kind of places to go eat. Everything was very good. The entertainment was spectacular, we really enjoyed that too. The ship was not to big it was easy to go from one place to another. Very good for us. The cabin I think was OK since we don't know other wise. I tough the ports was more entertaining. This is commercial port so no beach or shopping near by. I was a bit desapointed about that. Except for Maui who was ok, the shore excursions was really great and "Roberts Transportation" was super !! Read Less

Definitely go/go again. I got a bit windy but you can’t help that. The entertainment was astonishing they were amazing the shows were the best I have seen and great people to talk to the senses in the shows were great you just can’t describe how good it was to watch with the dancers and singers all the other shows were great for kids although the comedy could be a little better I beginning comedy people for kids were good but it got worst from then on they have great food on the ship. My husband and I chose this cruise to celebrate our anniversary. The aloha spirit was everywhere. DO NOT HESITATE to take this cruise. We wanted to see as much of Hawaii as we could and this was a great way to get to multiple islands. We have cruised with Norwegian for the last 3 years now. We have been on the Getaway and the Jade. The ship, service and food was as great as any of the others ships. The embarkation was super quick and easy. The disembarkation was also a breeze. So much better than what we have experienced in Miami. A shout out to Ferdinand our cabin steward and Nikki the bartender in the Napa bar. They went above and beyond for service and hospitality. We did many excursions offered by Norwegian and they all were great. We did the zodiac snorkel, sunset whale watch cruise and helicopter tour in Maui. We did the waterfalls tour in Hilo. We did the Volcanos National Park tour in Kona. We did the Luau and mudbug ATV tour in Kauai. We came home exhausted and happy to experience the true gem of the USA. Read Less

The service was extraordinary and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate your every need. Loved the ship, cabin, staff, food, activities, etc. So much to do on the days at sea that they flew by as we enjoyed participating in whatever we could manage to fit into our very busy schedule!! All the ports we visited were wonderful and we were most fortunate in having calm seas and beautiful weather throughout the trip. The entertainment was exceptional-especially the production shows along with all the other performers who took center stage as well as in the explorers lounge. Overall, just had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend it and most likely will do it again. Read Less

Once again loved our trip as we usually do with Princess and will be sailing with you again. I also enjoyed the shopping aboard and got some very good deals. This was a bucket list item to cruise to Hawaii. Had a fantastic time, Splendor is a great ship and although older, was very well maintained. Great variety of food options. MDR food was outstanding, yes, outstanding. Only had 1 bad experience, didn't like their lasagna, but staff was quick to provide another meal item. MDR service was great, with Leyton, Ping, and Adan doing a wonderful job of learning about us and our preferences. Room Steward Ana was fantastic, and always remembered my name when we passed in the hallway. Wasn't impressed by the Deli but there was usually a line, so others were. Grill was ok and quick. Lido Buffett was hard to figure out sometimes, couldn't tell what side was open and what was closing, but selection was good. Loved the omelet station, and the wait wasn't too bad each morning. Do try the Seaday Brunch. Lots of Karaoke, I didn't sing, but enjoyed those who did, very entertaining. Missed the comedy shows, usually timed poorly for my schedule, but did hear great things about the comedians. I caught the 88 Keys and Epic Rock shows, loved the 88 Keys, thought the Epic Rock was weak in singing. I enjoyed how the bartenders learned my name and preferences, I enjoyed the different atmosphers of each bar. Bartenders Sherwin, Yulia, Jai Sai were very friendly and attentive. Casino Servers Milan and Aleksandra were great, knew my drink choice and were always available to promptly fill my request. Shore excursion choices were varried, if a bit pricy. I highly recommend the Volcano Winery tasting tour in Hilo. I had an inside cabin and the room was very good, spacious enough with plenty of closet space. The shower actually felt larger than on previous cruises on another cruise line. Cruise Terminal in Long Beach is very well designed and the process of embarkation went very smoothly. I'm sure I am leaving things out, so much good to say about the cruise, the ship and Carnival in general. Overall, the service was Outstanding and polite and friendly. I would definitely take this cruise again, the sea days were very relaxing and fun. I will also be looking for my next cruise on Carnival. If I've missed anything, ask, I will gladly answer. We chose this cruise as we had never been to Hawaii and wanted to see several island without having to pack and unpack our luggage all week. I was concerned after reading some reviews of the Pride of America but was extremely happy that I only have great things to say about our experience. The embarkation and disembarkation process was extremely smooth. We took an early morning Pearl Harbor tour after the cruise and it was great to take the tour and then transported to The Honolulu Airport. Sheldon, our room attendant did an amazing job keeping our balcony room clean and well equipped. We enjoyed our tours; however the lunches served on the were not very good. We also loved our breakfasts at Skyline restaurant and enjoyed all of our dinners at La Cucina, Moderno, Teppanaki, and a Liberty. We like that the serving sizes at the restaurants were a nice size and. Did not lead to overeating. The ship was very clean. We also enjoyed listening to a piano playing singer in Pinks Lounge. Although the balcony room was smaller than other cruise lines we have been on, we got used to the size. I would not hesitate to tell people to take this cruise. We had great customer service, excursions, and dining experiences and fulfilled my dream of seeing several islands of Hawaii. Read Less

I would like to say that all the crew was very friendly and always got involved with the customers and made it fun. We only had 1 thing that happened that was upsetting. No issues embarking. Our luggage was outside our stateroom upon arrival. We stayed in aft room 10684 with a large balcony. Room was excellent and comfortable. They changed the itinerary a few times, we missed a couple ports but didn't mind. They took us from Maui to Kauai to avoid the brunt of Hurricane Lane which hit the Big Island. We left Kauai a day early as well and they took us 1000+ miles out to sea. We felt nothing from the Hurricane. The crew and staff were happy thru the event and the Captain kept us informed a couple times a day. Did I miss Kona and Hilo and a Luau on Kauai? Yes. Can I go back and do that? Yes. Did I complain about it? Absolutely not. It is what it is and the crew made it a great experience. Read Less

We had an amazing time on the cruise! We’ve never been to Hawaii before but have been on other NCL ships. This ship is smaller and older but still nice and feels more homey than other ships we’ve been on. The food was pretty decent in all the free locations and very good in the paid restaurants. We really enjoyed the stake house. The Japanese restaurant was also very yummy. The entertainment and shows were great, the one that stood out was the magician Kyle Marlett. Best magic show we’ve ever seen! They Comedian was also very funny. The crew was pretty great. Most of them being American. You can tell they work hard long hours. We did some activities off the ship. The black sand beach was fantastic. Overall we were very happy with the cruise. No other cruise let’s you see Hawaii like NCL so it’s worth the money. Read Less

Hi. Just off the boat Saturday 9th June. Trip to Big Island cancelled due to volcanic issues on the island. So first night spent In Honolulu which was a disappointment but fully understood. Compensated $50 port charges so make sure you settle your account after the ship leaves the last port. We had a suite cabin on deck 13 ( Portside ) the best side to view the Napali Coast, one can enjoy the views directly from their own private deck. We chose to enjoy the ship and did only one paid shore excursion thru the ship helicopter trip called Heaven & Earth on Kauai $399 each. In our country we drive on the left so did no feel comfortable driving in Hawaii. With the helicopter flight we got a good land tour, lunch. Pickup from the ship at 10am, drive to lighthouse, beach & lunch, great tour guide in new Mercedes-Benz’s van. Transported to heliport at 2.45pm, safety briefing etc then 50 minute flight over Waimea Canyon and Nepali Coast. Weather not the greatest in some parts with rain but pilot did a great job. ( recommend ). Then transported back to the ship by 5.15pm. Airport about 10 minutes away from the ship. Our daily routine was up for a swim at 8am so one could swim some lengths before the crowd arrives. (Pool opens at 8am ). Clean up and breakfast and lunch at Cagneys Restaurant ( suite passengers only ) but same food as other restaurant but just gets served to you. We liked that as we would have put too much on our plates otherwise. Sun bath and then usual go ashore and wander around for a few hours. Booked 5.30pm meal times so we could enjoy the entertainment. Shows last 1 hour, then we would then go to the next show etc. Joel Meyers the magician excellent and very entertaining. Brenda Kaye the hypnotist also excellent. I volunteered and turned out I was the Star of the show. I supposedly put on a pretty good performance for every one. We attended her seminar also very informative. Recommend. On the last day suggest you pack your bags after lunch as they have to be out for collection by midnight. But on the last day the ship leaves port at 1.30pm, but there is shows and art auctions etc to go to. Plus the best viewing along the Napapli Coast is form 5.15pm to 6.15pm then back to back entertainment until 11pm. Then even a later party. For us a trip of a lifetime and we only booked a suite because my wife seen a deal which she could not resist......... she always says that when she spends. Recommend a suite. No queues, dining seating by the windows, treats left in the room etc. Only disappointment no trip to the big island. Big win for the cruise company though as they did not have to pay for the fuel would have used to cruise there. No bad cruises just bad cruisers. Enjoy we did. Read Less
