Great way to see the Hawaiian Islands. The ship is a nice floating hotel with free food. You travel while you sleep. Friendly crew, very solid entertainment, and well established things to do while at port. Aloha cafe handled the crowds well and the crew kept up with the crowds. Liberty and Skyline restaurants were well managed and food was quite good. La Cucina gets two thumbs up while Moderno gets two thumbs down. Staff was slow and did not give a good representation of that style of dining. Could not compare to the experience we had while on the Pearl last August in Alaska. It would have been nice if the outdoor (key west bar and grill) was open for more hours and had healthy items to snack on while enjoying the views and great Hawaiian climate. On the one day we did not dock on a pier the process was very slow and the lines were too long. Read Less

My husband and I chose this cruise to celebrate our anniversary. The aloha spirit was everywhere. DO NOT HESITATE to take this cruise. We wanted to see as much of Hawaii as we could and this was a great way to get to multiple islands. We have cruised with Norwegian for the last 3 years now. We have been on the Getaway and the Jade. The ship, service and food was as great as any of the others ships. The embarkation was super quick and easy. The disembarkation was also a breeze. So much better than what we have experienced in Miami. A shout out to Ferdinand our cabin steward and Nikki the bartender in the Napa bar. They went above and beyond for service and hospitality. We did many excursions offered by Norwegian and they all were great. We did the zodiac snorkel, sunset whale watch cruise and helicopter tour in Maui. We did the waterfalls tour in Hilo. We did the Volcanos National Park tour in Kona. We did the Luau and mudbug ATV tour in Kauai. We came home exhausted and happy to experience the true gem of the USA. Read Less

After several couples mentioned how much they loved this cruise, we decided, along with 2 other couples, to take it and were absolutely delighted we did! It turned out to be above and beyond our expectations in every respect. Embarkation was a breeze as was disembarkation. The service was extraordinary and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate your every need. Loved the ship, cabin, staff, food, activities, etc. So much to do on the days at sea that they flew by as we enjoyed participating in whatever we could manage to fit into our very busy schedule!! All the ports we visited were wonderful and we were most fortunate in having calm seas and beautiful weather throughout the trip. The entertainment was exceptional-especially the production shows along with all the other performers who took center stage as well as in the explorers lounge. Overall, just had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend it and most likely will do it again. Read Less

I did this cruise 2 years ago and had a great time. This time everything was changed. They said the ship was newly renovated but what they really did was add 100 staterooms. The result was less seating on the promenade deck inside. They also changed the menu which affected the dining rooms and the buffet. The quality took a dive with a less appealing menu and an addition of things like steak and or lobster or surf and turf added at the bottom at an additional charge. If lamb is not at the top of your hit parade, stay off this ship. The buffet had a good selection of fruits, melons and desserts but the entrees seemed to be left overs from the dining rooms. There where still additional dining opportunities at additional charge's but less because of less deck space to put them. I had the drink package ($1000 plus) but was still charged for the initial bottles of water that were in our stateroom when we boarded. It appeared there were less room stewards as well and if you were not out of your cabin during certain hours, you room was skipped until the next specified hours. I have sailed with Princess before and enjoyed it but was told , what we experienced was the new Princess way of doing things. I will not sail with them again. Read Less

We’ve sailed with Princess in the past and know we will get a high quality ship and experience. Our recent cruise from LA to Hawaii and back was no different. Beautiful ship, comfortable mini-suite, fun activities, terrific crew, and a bunch of food. It took 4 days to get to Hilo. We visited Hilo, Honolulu, Kauai and Maui. Then 5 days to Ensenada, Mexico and one final day to LA. The boarding and disembarkation processes were very smooth. All of the islands were beautiful & offered different sites. Hilo is full of volcanoes. Honolulu has Pearl Harbor and Luaus. Kauai has waterfalls and beaches where movies were filmed. Maui is the nicest. Nice downtown near the port with plenty of shops. Would recommend Kimos for lunch. Right on the Pacific, great fish tacos and a huge Ice cream cake desert. Ensenada was a disappointment though. Not much to see or do. Read Less

We were on our honeymoon and decided to go all out. We did the 10 day Oahu explorer trip so we were put up in a hotel in Waikiki for the first 3 days. The bus trips were fun and very well planned. Getting on and off the boat was a breeze. The activities on the boat were a little lacking. There is no casino since Hawaii is a non gaming state. Most of the entertainment was geared towards an older crowd, which most of the boat was. Even most of the bars closed early. For as much fun as the trip was I would not cruise Hawaii again. It’s was a long flight and older crowd. I would definitely do the Caribbean again before Hawaii. The shore excursions were fun but again it was an older crowd. The highlight of the trip for us was having the penthouse with our own butler. Read Less

To see four islands and cruise the ocean blue! I wanted to relax and see Hawaii with my spouse which we did but I expected there to be professional entertainment of a much higher level. I think BINGO was too expensive and trivia got boring. I did enjoy the chef demonstrations and all of the food. The game shows were fun. The Beach Boys guitarist should stick to music and forget comedy, that was not good. The big production at the end was not impressive at all, sorry. Thank goodness our room was near the exercise equipment, but charging for Yoga is not worth going. High end on-board prices for low end receivables in my opinion. The best thing was whale watching. The worst thing was the last second cancellation of our Kauai helicopter excursion which we looked forward to for months. The best part was we were with family and not alone. Read Less

Very, very good, the help was so great. Just loved our server and helper. I didn't take advantage of the entertainment but my husband and sister-in-law hit all the shows, even the small lounges and loved them all. We have been with Princess a long time and have made many trips with them and yes we would go again. We are now elite passengers and we love the extras that go along with that. Once again loved our trip as we usually do with Princess and will be sailing with you again. I also enjoyed the shopping aboard and got some very good deals. Another favorite of mine was the casino and I did very well with that too. See you on our next voyage!!! Read Less

We choose to cruise on NCL as it is the only cruise line that travels 4 Hawaiian islands in 7 days starting and ending in Honolulu. We have been used to personalized service on other cruise lines like Princess or Holland America to name 2 out of the 5 cruise lines that we have sailed with on more than one occasion. The service in the dining room on the 5th floor is significantly lacking with delayed wait times and staff who lauder around the main area where they food comes to from the kitchen before it is delivered to you (for both breakfast and supper). In spite of having a pre-set dining time, you are set at a different table each night at the service is mediocre. There was one male server (David) from Long Beach, California who was great but other than that the rest of the staff need significant training in customer service, how to change table clothes in a dining room and overall interaction with guests. NCL limits the amount that you use your soda card and has no centralized spot on the ship to use your card - only in the dining areas. They do not offer a complimentary cup like all the other cruise ships with the soda card. You can not get regular coffee at the coffee bar on the 5th floor but need to go to the 11th floor. There is no charge for regular coffee so that this why it is not on the 5th floor coffee bar as they want you to buy lattes and specialty coffee drinks. We rarely saw the steward to clean our room like in other cruise ships when they were available all the time. We were in/out of room various times in the evening and our room was cleaned during the day and then later in the evening. There is no on turn service of the bed in the evening. We also did the land and sea portion of the cruise. We arrived 4 days prior to the land portion starting and stayed in the Lagoon Tower where we paid on our own. This was a condo suite at the Hilton Grand Vacations. It was large and lovely. And, then when the land portion of the tour started we had to move to another tower in the same area by Hilton Grand Vacations in the Kalia Tower. This tower is outdated and the rooms need extensive upgrades however this is what NCL includes in the land tour portion. The guide on the land tour, Kaou was funny and engaging although at times he talked a bit to much over the course of the 3 days. The cruise ship is smaller and there were only 2 stores on board which had limited selection as compared to other cruise ships that we sailed on. The jewelry store was disappointing in the selections it carried as well. The photograph is quite overpriced for what you get (8 pictures and these are also on a USB stick for $149 USD plus taxes). Other cruise ships you can get unlimited phots for that price or close to it. Dinning in the East meet West Restaurant dining service was disjoined and our waiter took our order and came back once. Other than that there were various servers but no one paying real attention and we would have to call someone to get what we wanted. The service in the Cadillac dining is slow and yet staff are standing around and talking with each. Our waiter (a female) for lunch was awful and I had better service in a McDonalds then at the Cadiillac diner on Pride of America (how ironical the name of the ship!). Similarly, staff in the Aloha buffet stand around, no one will serve you coffee like other cruise ships in the buffet area. I wanted a diet pepsi and the staff member said she could not help me as she is not allowed to take my soda card. The card is paid for already so if she looked at why could she not just request a soda from the staff person who you have to stand in line to get a soda or any other beverage such as a beer. She said NCL does not allow them to be in possession of the customer's card. What a joke! Again, no customer service. The Hawaiian islands are beautiful so that's what made the trip enjoyable. However NCL needs to improve their customer service in a major way! Another positive is the size of the balcony we had on the 11th floor. It was large and the flooring was like a teak so nice to stand or walk on. It is also very private! Read Less

This was our first cruise. My husband and I went with my brother and sister-in-law who had been on a cruise before. It was suggested that we take the cruise out of Honolulu as that way we would get to experience more time on the Islands of Hawaii. Overall it was a great experience! We had a room with a balcony which made it so nice to be able to open the door and listen to the waves as we set sail to another island. We also got ample opportunities to take sunset pictures which were breathtaking! The bathroom was a little tight maneuvering around, especially for my husband who is a fairly large man. We disembarked onto the islands at every opportunity. We found that talking to natives on the islands provided us with the best prices for exploring the many attractions it had to offer. We save over 40% off what the ship prices provided and we got the experience of the people that live on the islands. Disembarking and embarking went pretty smoothly. You always have to have your ship card on your person as well as a photo id to get on and off the ship. There was many different food offerings on the ship. The buffet was pretty good. It offered the biggest variety and there were several stations serving the same food so that lines were minimal, even at the busiest hours. We did eat at a couple of the restaurants that were not included in our package, and I would say the Steakhouse was the best meal we had on the ship!! The service was excellent and the food was phenomenal. There was a crew member who sprayed your hands with hand sanitizer any time you entered the food buffet area. I reasonable precaution given all the people on board and hearing of illnesses on past ships. The Cruise Director was so friendly, enthusiastic and informative. There was plenty to do on board the ship. Entertainment included comedy shows, magic shows (for adults and children), plenty of music and dancing that varied each night as well. Also, other types of entertainment that involved the travelers such as a "Not So Newlywed Game" which was very funny! Given all the free food offered, I was glad to see this ship had a wonderful fitness center that included many of the latest treadmills, elliptical machines and other fitness equipment as well. I used them daily!! The pools were clean and we also enjoyed the experience of the Jacuzzi and meeting new friends!! Overall, our cruise on the Pride of America was a dream come true for my husband and myself. We would definitely go again, and I would recommend this trip to any of my family and friends! Read Less

This is an old, tired and run down ship that should be retired. The food in the Aloha Cafe was on par with the Golden Corral, tired looking and lukewarm. The bus staff were atrocious. They walked around like zombies, not noticing the dirty plates at the end of the table. We did try the main dining room for lunch and that was a mistake. The nachos and philly cheese steak we order came covered in melted cheese whiz. The food looked like it was under a food lamp for hours. A fast food meal is better than this meal. We must give cudo’s to the staff at Cagney, where we enjoyed a great meal and great service. The manager was very attentive. This meal was deferently the highlight of the cruise. The bathroom in our cabin was small where taking a proper shower was next to impossible. The only standout here was our cabin steward. We did not have time to check out the entertainment as it was poorly planned with the restaurant operations. For example, the Aloha Cafe opens at 6:00 pm and the first show was at 6:30 pm. This meant that we would have to go to later shows Over the earlier shoes. Basically, this cruise is not worth the money we paid for it. The premium we paid for was for an all American crew. There were only a select few of the crew who stood out and truly represented the Pride of America. You’re better flying to each island and booki a hotel on each if. NCL’s POA IS AN EPIC FAIL. This was my 4th cruise. We had a balcony cabin. Bright, clean and well kept throughout the cruise. The ship needs some refurbishing, a bit tired but comfortable and welcoming. Service was amazing, staff is the best. Because we were far out on the ocean the ship rocked, I felt like a child in a cradle being rocked to sleep. I don't get seasick, but some did suffer if they weren't prepared. Would have liked more time on shore in Hawaii. The excursions were wonderful. I highly recommend the Blue Hawaii helicopter ride over any island, but only if you get a window seat. The rear middle seat allows all the other riders to block your view. Food was great, a good variety though I would have enjoyed more middle-eastern fair (Lebanese, Greek, etc.) seemed the focus was Chinese/Japanese (Chinese New Year was that week). Thoroughly enjoyed the Hawaiian fact session by speakers, both Hawaiian, Rowena, and National Parks representative, Ranger John. Entertainment was a nice mix, some wonderful some not so much our taste. I wouldn't go back to Hawaii on a cruise though. I'd rather stay on an island to experience all it has to offer. The time in port was too short. Read Less

Have cruised with RCI and celebrity first ncl cruise, chose them because they're only line that starts and finishes in Hawaii. Got to pier at 12:45 was on the ship and had a drink in my hand by 1:00, getting off ship was equally as easy. The ship was smaller then I'm used to but it was easy to navigate once you knew where everything was located. Entertainment was very good the Carole's Kings show was especially good and I'm not a big Carole King fan. Comedian Michael Sommerville was very good saw his early and late show and had the people screaming with laughter at both shows. We had a balcony cabin on deck 9 which was your typical cabin, good for showering and sleeping. Our steward was excellent the room was always clean and he was very friendly always asking us how our day was, what were we doing that day or if there was anything else he could do for us, unfortunately I forget his name and can't give him the credit he deserves. The food was very good we ate in the main dining rooms every night but one. Skyline dining room was horrible because of the service. Our servers were very slow and the dining wasn't even crowded plus they never smiled and weren't very friendly. First restaurant I ever dined in on land or at sea where the server never offered you coffee or tea after the main course. Liberty dining room was much better, the server greeted you with a smile, asked how was your day and what did you do. Service was much better and they offered coffee or tea after dinner. Only had a couple lunches and 1 dinner at the buffet and it was okay, nice selection and very tasty. I'm not a big breakfast guy they had the usual breakfast foods which was fine by me. Excursions were very good except for the trip to Waimea Canyon. It's a 5 hour excursion,4 hours of it is travelling time. Might want to consider renting a car for this one it could be quicker. Overall a very good cruise and I would recommend it to anyone, I would do it again. Read Less

We were celebrating our 30th wedding aniversary & my 60th birthday. I was completely frustrated & disgusted by the complete lack of a useable internet service on this ship and the horific cost of the Whale Watching Tour at Ma'alaea, compared with the price on-line from the same tour operator I run an internet based business & I need constant access to a wifi service so that I can answer my customers speedily. With this in mind,I investigated the internet service before we booked & based on the availability of the Carnival premium internet plan I went ahead with the booking for this vacation.I pre-paid for the premium internet plan, which is advertised on the Carnival website & around the ship to be capable of handling Skype & be 3 times faster than other Carnival wifi plans. This should be more than capable of handling my needs. On day 2 of our cruise,I spent over 7 hours trying to answer basic emails from my customers that should have taken no more than 30 minutes. On day 3,a similar amount of time was spent trying to use the wifi service. It was a major task to maintain the integrity of my business ,when I should be enjoying my cruise. The wifi either won't connect at all, saying "No internet". OR takes an unbelievably long time to load a site,up to 1 hour to load a simple email site. OR takes an unbelievably long time to load then drops out just when you go to use it. OR just won't load at all. Having spoken to the Carnival guest services agents & supervisor on the ship, it is especially annoying to hear them tell me that the wifi service on this ship doesn't work when at sea & there's nothing that can be done about it,although they did, at least refund my $208 pre-payment fee for the wifi premium plan. This didn't solve my problem in providing a usable wifi service that I relied on,as advertised. They told me that Carnival head office is well aware of the situation regarding the wifi on this vessel but has not corrected it. It was suggested that I could try between 4am and 5 am in the morning as it might work then, which is completely unbelivable. This matter caused me immense frustration,as I either cannot respond to my customers or am having to spend a ridiculous amount of time persevering with a wifi service that is not fit for purpose. Also,we wanted to see the whales during our special cruise. The Carnival price is $129 each for a 2 hour boat trip & transport for the 9 miles from the port to Ma'alaea harbour. I searched on line and found the same tour from the same tour operator priced at $39 each but excluding the transport.I tried making a claim via the Carnival price guarantee, but they refused to price match the tour as my option didn't include transport to Ma'alaea.Apparently,Carnival can justify charging an additional $90 per person for an 9 mile return journey! We cancelle our Carnival whale watch tour & booked direct with the tour operator on-line prior to sailing. There were loads of taxis at the port when we arrived, the cost of the taxi was $30 for the 2 of us each way.I'm sure we could have saved on that price had we used Uber. My total expense for the trip was $138 for the 2 of us,including the tour and transport compared with $258 if booked via Carnival. A saving of $120! When we got to the tour, all the rest of the guests on board the whale watch boat were on the Carnival shore excursion, priced at $129 each. What a nice earner! Read Less

Wanted to spend the holidays at sea since we couldn't spend it with our grandchildren. The embarkation process was the BEST I've ever experienced. Easier than checking into a hotel on Michigan avenue. No waiting for your group, just go up to an empty spot and get your cruise card. No waiting to get in the room AND miracle of miracles all four pieces of our luggage were already outside our room. We've waited till late evening on some cruises. The room was spacious with a shower and a tub. Loved to soak in the tub. Room was very clean and nothing was worn out. The balcony however was a disaster. Dirty and the furniture was all rusted. Paid for a balcony and really didn't really want to sit out there. Too depressing. Room steward was a disappointment, very aloof and even had a bad attitude at times. The ship overall is tired and old despite the refurb. Very clean throughout, although some of the bathrooms could use more frequent cleaning. Time to retire this one. Very health conscious. Crew members at the entries to all food venues with sinks and soap (more effective than hand cleaner). Bathroom receptacles by the doors so you can use a towel to open the doors. A lot of the men's room doors were left open. All food venues were very clean. No pens to sign bills to keep down transfer of germs (a real good idea). The BEST front desk staff I've ever experienced. A moderate line the first day (as usual) but after that you could just walk right up. Always had at least 3-4 crew members at all times except late at night. Excellent. Food was the big disappointment. Our waiter told us they had not changed the dining room menu in 4 years!!?? Really? Food in the dining room was mediocre at best. Actually got sick by the fifth day and started eating pizza and burgers. Lido deck buffet was never crowded but the food was generally cold and severely under-seasoned. Even the soup was cold. They use overhead heat lamps instead of heating with steam from underneath so the food gets cold quickly and the tops of the dished get crusty, ugh. All fish was frozen and when thawed out was awful. All the chicken dishes were bad except the chicken strips. Salads and fruit were fresh and my wife ate this most of the time. At times they ran out of ice. BIG BONUS the desserts were as good or better than any we've had. No matter where you got one, they were exceptional. (Watch that waistline). We started eating at the up-charge Crown Grill. Steak and food there was excellent. Onion soup to die for and the meat was expertly cooked. Great experience. Highly recommended. Other than that, pack a lunch. Our wait staff was superb, really excellent. A real bright spot. Crew in general were a little friendlier than most . Drinks. We drank mostly beer since we only found one bartender that actually knew how to make a drink. Complained to bar manager. Very inexperienced in general and need a lot of training. Best on board entertainment ever!! Almost Broadway quality. Specialty acts were unique and top shelf. All the entertainers, when encountered around the ship were friendly and engaging. Don't miss any of the shows. Great New Years Eve party, a real blast. What is there to say about Hawaiian excursions. You can't go wrong. Had a great time whale watching. Saw a lot the beasts on a Maui excursion. Great tender organization with tickets. No mass of people jamming the stairs and isle ways. Ship did not seem crowded. Lots of kids running around, but hey it was Christmas and New Years. Although I saw more motorized carts than at our golf club. Had to keep your head on a swivel. Other good items were the little deli in the main atrium. Great food and never crowded. Also the gourmet coffee (extra charge) shop right next to it was great. The pizza and burger areas were never crowded and the food was good. Also the pizza restaurant off the main atrium was excellent. Debarkation was well organized although a REAL mess once at the curb. Totally disorganized. Worst I've ever experienced. Not enough cabs and no way Uber or Lyft could get through all the traffic to pick you up. Took us 1 1/2 hours to get a ride to the airport. Ugh. Use Princess transfers. San Francisco is not our favorite port to sail out of. Won't be back. When sailing domestic we like Miami, New Orleans, and Vancouver much better. Future cruise director was in the wrong job, but I did book another Princess Cruise while on board for Alaska. We've made the exact trip in the past and just decided, why not! Happy sailing! The cruise was 15 days spanning Christmas and New Years. It was an OK trip, but I expected more from Princess Cruises. The ship was over crowded and there were long lines for everything. Many of the shows and events (trivia, classes, ect) could not accommodate the amount of guests on board. The food was eatable, but disappointing as well. You could not find tables to sit and eat because the overcrowding and lack of space drove people to lounge and congregate at the tables in the buffet and café areas. The amenities were lacking; they definitely fall into the "No Frills" category. The service staff were good and tried to be very helpful and attentive. They did their best to make the vacation smooth and enjoyable. The holiday events left something to be desired and we kept finding ourselves lucky to have gotten a seat, but merely waiting for it to end. Christmas passed with minimal notice, and New Years was very disappointing. I think I will stick to Royal Caribbean for my cruises. They were a much better experience for the same cost. Read Less

First time in Hawaii and thought cruising on the Pride of America would be a great introduction to the islands. Yes it was. Last minute change did not allow us to go around Naple Coast due to extended time in port so we missed that. We stopped on 4 islands and got a great feel for each area. Shocked when we arrived at port and there was NO line. Embarkation was fast and friendly. Luggage was in our room within 2 hours. Cabin was the standard balcony but door to balcony doesn't open very far. Cabin steward was very attentive. Overall ship decor was very nice. Dining left something to be desired. Not a fan of 'freestyle' dining anyway but it was difficult to get reservations from 6 to 8 unless you made them days in advance. Food was not at the level I would have hoped and service was slow in both the Liberty and Starlight main dining rooms. Most of the other dining options were an additional charge. Went to the brazilian style dining room and was very disappointed. We paid additional $60 for poor service and did not even see more than half of the food options that were to be brought to the tables. The buffet was fine for breakfast and lunch but limited options. Entertainment was very good. Both the shows and the poolside entertainers were very talented. Some the the ports have very little to see near the ship. We had excursions scheduled so that was not a concern and the excursions were wonderful. The ship does not seem as well organized in getting people to the excursion however. This was a bucket list item to cruise to Hawaii. Had a fantastic time, Splendor is a great ship and although older, was very well maintained. Great variety of food options. MDR food was outstanding, yes, outstanding. Only had 1 bad experience, didn't like their lasagna, but staff was quick to provide another meal item. MDR service was great, with Leyton, Ping, and Adan doing a wonderful job of learning about us and our preferences. Room Steward Ana was fantastic, and always remembered my name when we passed in the hallway. Wasn't impressed by the Deli but there was usually a line, so others were. Grill was ok and quick. Lido Buffett was hard to figure out sometimes, couldn't tell what side was open and what was closing, but selection was good. Loved the omelet station, and the wait wasn't too bad each morning. Do try the Seaday Brunch. Lots of Karaoke, I didn't sing, but enjoyed those who did, very entertaining. Missed the comedy shows, usually timed poorly for my schedule, but did hear great things about the comedians. I caught the 88 Keys and Epic Rock shows, loved the 88 Keys, thought the Epic Rock was weak in singing. I enjoyed how the bartenders learned my name and preferences, I enjoyed the different atmosphers of each bar. Bartenders Sherwin, Yulia, Jai Sai were very friendly and attentive. Casino Servers Milan and Aleksandra were great, knew my drink choice and were always available to promptly fill my request. Shore excursion choices were varried, if a bit pricy. I highly recommend the Volcano Winery tasting tour in Hilo. I had an inside cabin and the room was very good, spacious enough with plenty of closet space. The shower actually felt larger than on previous cruises on another cruise line. Cruise Terminal in Long Beach is very well designed and the process of embarkation went very smoothly. I'm sure I am leaving things out, so much good to say about the cruise, the ship and Carnival in general. Overall, the service was Outstanding and polite and friendly. I would definitely take this cruise again, the sea days were very relaxing and fun. I will also be looking for my next cruise on Carnival. If I've missed anything, ask, I will gladly answer. First cruise on Carnival. Twelve other cruises on different lines. We purchased a suite for this adventure. Just a joke that afternoon food was basically only served from 12 to 2:30. Really enjoyed standing in lines because Carnival is too cheap to keep dining choices open, while not having various eating establishments open for their patrons. It was great coming back from a shore excursion and just a pizza joint and a grill available. The buffet was total garbage. The Tandora, on the Lido was enjoyable, at least. The decor must have been created by people on acid. Pink and copper colors everywhere. It needs a makeover. My time dining was generally a joke. You had to line up before five, or you were given a buzzer to be called to dinner. Usually a 30 to 40 minute wait. Dining room food wasn't too bad most of the time. It was hit or miss. The ship is not clean. In 15 days, we never saw an employee cleaning the handrails. What few sanitary dispensers there were, weren't filled. No one was in front on the eating establishments offering to spray your hands. Same for when you come back from a shore excursion. They don't seem to care about germs. Of course, we both got sick during the end of the cruise. Suite was nothing to get excited about. Our steward was good. Entertainment was ok. Liked the theater. Enjoyed the lectures. Tom Parks and Nancy Caruso were great with their lectures. Read Less

My wife bought this cruise to Hawaii for my 60th birthday. The one thing we loved was there was never anyone in your face at dinner, lunch, ect taking pictures of you. We love the freestyle dinning. I cant complain, because there was no gambling on this cruise,so I saved money ! I miss the fact that on carnival I could buy any bottle of liquer and have it brought to the room. Not this one. The bartenders especially( Alonso ?) from texas. He was very informative, friendly and fun to talk to. He would be at the pool bar in the morning. As for excursions , we booked all through ncl.Patrick at the excursion desk was very friendly and helped us with any changes we wanted to make. The helicopter and pinnaple tour with pig roast was well worth it. I even managed to get the saints vs dallas game on the boat. I am seriously considering taking another ncl cruise soon. Read Less

Fabulous trip, crew was awesome, lots of activities and enrichment opportunities. Killed it in trivia, NOT! Hawaiian ambassadors Kimo and Lokelini were most informative. Hula and ukulele lessons with guest show afterwards was awesome. Pop choir fun too! Veronica taught dance classes and fun in the Atrium, Piazza area was great. Captain Tuvo greeted us daily in the dining venues. Food and service in Capri was outstanding. Fish always cooked to perfection. International Cafe has great snacks and designer coffees. Met lots of experienced and first-time cruisers. Loved Nano Prado in Crooners. Cameron was cool too with his guitar. Meet and Mingle was lame, too cliquey. Danced nightly and entertainment was good. 4th trip across Pacific to Hawaii. If you don’t enjoy sea days, don’t take it. Do Noweigian’s Pride of America instead. ATV’s in Ensenada with wine tasting was best excursion ever! A few rocky nights, but that’s okay. Casino paid off! Great trip! Read Less

We wanted to experience Hawaii. There were 10 in our group. 8 are high school friends celebrating our 60th birthdays. I found the ship was old and the chairs in the lounges were outdated and uncomfortable. The food at dinner needed more selection throughout the cruise. It seemed the same food was on the menu every 2 todays. Not much choice for desserts also. There needed to be more poolside entertainment. Evident that this cruise is catered to an older crowd. the cruise director and his staff were excellent in the shows and trivia type events they hosted. We only purchased 1 ship excursion that was well done and exciting. The other days we found our own excursions off ship. Our dinning wait staff did a great job. We had no problems with the staff service - only with the condition of the ship. This was our second trip with Princess and both were poor experiences with the conditions. Probably stay with our past cruise lines in the future. Read Less

My wife and I wanted to take a first time trip to Hawaii and we wanted to cruise. Norwegian's 7 day inter Island cruise was a perfect fit for us. Our included hotel was the Hilton Hawaiian Village - very busy but very nice. We had an excellent tour guide for our included 4 days in Oahu. I think the Pride of America is a beautiful ship with attractive details and finishes everywhere you went. We treated ourselves to a Penthouse SE suite "with large balcony". The cabin exceeded expectations and came with many perks and amenities including a Butler. My wish was his command! I need to practice piano daily and within a day of our arrival he arranged for two baby grands for me to practice on as much as I needed. We liked the food in the Aloha Cafe and Skyline restaurant. There was always a variety of appealing food to choose from. Our package came with 3 dinners each person at the specialty restaurants. We ate at Cagney's and the Brazilian Steakhouse and they were both excellent. We also had the perk of eating complimentary at Cagney's for breakfast and lunch. Wonderful. There were more than enough entertainment and activities to keep us busy. We rented a car and did our own exploring. However, there seemed to be a nice variety of excursions to choose from. The ship visited four of the islands. (If you want to go ashore at Kona, you'll have to get on the tender boat.) Overall, an excellent choice for a first visit to Hawaii. Highly Recommended.
