We chose Royal Caribbean since I cruised on it 25 years ago during my first honeymoon. It was very classy and nice then. Based on this memory we chose RC over Carnival. Big mistake! The staff were ALL very rude and VERY difficult to understand their English. Directions as to what to do were horrible. We had to ask many different staff to get the correct answer as to where to go, etc. It was just general chaos. The ship is very old based on cruise standards. The bathroom smelled of raw sewage coming up from the shower. There were never enough towels or bathroom glasses. It just felt "dirty" no matter where we went. There are hardly any signs as far as where to smoke/vape, where to get pool towels (which if you bring back to the room and your housekeeper forgets to mark that they were there you had to pay for them!). I will say the timed dining was great. Our wait staff were fantastic and the meal was very classy. One other thing: I suppose RC wanted to sell a soda package or something but there were NO water bottles or containers for sale on board to take water back to the room. They did have Evian water in there but a one-liter bottle was something ridiculous like $6. I wouldn't recommend anyone take a cruise on this ship. We might give Royal Caribbean another chance but it will NEVER be on the Enchantment of the Seas. Read Less

This was our first cruise to celebrate both my wife's birthday and our anniversary. First, we spent some time reading the reviews of this ship and offerings and feel that the reviews are obviously sided to the perception of the reviewers. Those with bad experiences seem to have some sort of specific expectation that hasn't been met and they carried that displeasure to other aspects of the cruise. For us, it was exceptional. We couldn't have asked for a better first time experience. Embarkation was an absolute breeze. We were through security and check in and on the pool deck within about 30 minutes. The weather first day was a little chilly but sunny and very vacation like so we had no issues not getting in the pool. Once we had a couple fruity drinks we easily found a couple chairs and enjoyed the music and initial ambiance. At 3:30 or so we were pulled for the muster prep. This is mandatory and a little disorganized, but nothing that caused us to feel the cruise was going to be messy. Following the muster we went to our cabin. CABIN - we had an inside state room. It was small but efficient for our needs. No need for lots of space or extras because we didnt plan on spending much time in there. Our cabin attendant, Daniel, was exceptional. Constantly addressing our needs before they even came up. One special note, I had recently injured my knee and was hobbled a bit and confined to a knee brace. On day one, as we were heading to our cabin to get something we forgot, he was in the hallway. He made mention that he saw me earlier in the day and felt like I would need ice for my knee from time to time (he was right) he had prepared my room with a cold bucket of ice and bags to use to ice when needed. For the entire tour I always had fresh ice and a bag so that I could take care of myself. There are other smaller examples of his exceptional service approach, but this was a biggie for us. DINING - so the buffet is a buffet. You can't have exceptional expectations. However, I will note that many reviews were critical of wait time for tables. We never had this experience. We always found a place to sit for all meals that we enjoyed. Additionally, the food is not great, but it is passable for buffet food. One night we ate at My Fair Lady and again the service was exceptional. The meal was average, but again our expectations were not for James Beard Award winning dining. We consider ourselves foodies, but also understand that our expectations need to match the environment. I will say that one food item that I found was always exceptional was the mashed potatoes. ENTERTAINMENT - we didn't do much of the on-ship entertainment. We went to the casino for a few minutes and had fun but gambling is not really our thing. We did however, see the juggling show which was exceptional. Funny, timely, entertaining. We really enjoyed that experience. SHORE EXCURSIONS - we choose the snorkel trip in Nassau which was very fun. We were sent on a 1 hour catamaran tour of the area and then snorkeled for an hour at Rainbow Reef. It was really fantastic. We didn't particularly enjoy Nassau/Straw Market etc. But it was nice weather and enjoyable to walk around a bit. COCO CAY - the excursion we choose at COCO CAY was Stingray City. All I can say is WOW. It was one of the coolest experiences I've had in my life. The water was a touch chilly, but you get over that quick. The be able to snorkel with stingrays for a couple hours was priceless. The guide, Nick was knowledgeable, funny, and very insightful. He made the experience even more fun. I find it hard to believe that we only had 6 other couples on the excursion with us. I can't believe that more people don't enjoy this experience. The rest of the day on Coco Cay was simply exceptional. Again, the food was average, but you can't have extended expectations in this type of environment. The water was crystal clear, and perfect all day. The staff was exceptional. The entire experience is something I will remember the rest of my life. VALUE FOR MONEY - overall this was a perfect first time for us. We were sad when it was over and wish we could have had another day or two. For us, we really didn't need the Nassau part of the tour, but were glad for the experience. This as an exceptional trip. If you expect that every aspect of your trip is going to be 5 star then you have the wrong expectations. You need to take the buffet food for what it is worth... the staff on EOS was always friendly and helpful. The stateroom, although small, was perfect for us. Enjoy this tour! Read Less

My family and I just got back from cruising with Royal Caribbean for the first time. I have never left a review for a cruise ship before but the experience was so bad that I felt compelled to warn others about this ship. To begin I would encourage others to read reviews on this website about this boat. At least I was for warned to have low expectations. First, the ship was extremely dirty. Unlike other cruise lines that we have traveled on, Royal Caribbean's priorities did not seem to be the upkeep of the ship. Floors were filthy, rust was commonly found throughout the bathrooms, and scratches/dings/and broken walls were throughout the ship. The plumbing was also sub par as the cruise director joked that the "potty" was temperamental. We learned that prior to our arrival a leak was found in one of the pools that forced its closing during our cruise. That may have explained why the eight floor smelt like a sewer every time a toilet was flushed. Second, the food was terrible. The first night we ate in the main dining room (My Fair Lady). Service was extremely slow and by the time we got our food it was inedible. The staff was friendly but I felt like they were phoning it in because despite complaints, they did nothing to improve the situation. We wound up eating every meal thereafter at the buffet Windjammer which served pretty much the same food over and over and over. Third, except for the trampoline and rock climbing wall there was nothing to do. We found this especially true for our children. The pool was a murky grey color and was littered with drunk adults who would shout profanities in front of children. At one point there was a cake decorating competition but when we tried to sign the kids up for this, we were told is only for adults. Finally, I can honestly say that we were not the only ones who had a lousy experience. At least once every day we overheard someone complaining to the staff. The line for guest services was constantly long with people complaining. We cruise about twice a year and you could not pay me to cruise on Royal Caribbean again. Perhaps the newer boats are better but I am not willing to waste my money to risk it. If you are thinking about this boat don't do it! You will regret it. If you are already booked, cancel the trip. Royal Caribbean cruise – April 20 – 24 on Enchantment of the Seas The boarding process was smooth. The hallway in front of our room and about a dozen others smelled like sewage, as well as inside our room itself. We didn’t have the housekeeping clean our room at all. We had to ask for a “Do not Disturb” sign as apparently they were short on them. We did receive one the following day. We were at the 8:30 seating. We were put at a 4 person table with a couple that was young enough to be our kids. It was very uncomfortable, to the point we actually skipped a couple of the meals. The service was VERY slow. We left dinner the last night because it took so long to get our main course. There was no bar service at the table. The wait staff was very friendly, but not very efficient. The bar service was horrible at all of the bars we visited throughout. It always took at least 10-15 minutes to get a drink, despite if it was 10:00 AM or 7:00 PM. The bars were all very understaffed. I got the feeling that since gratuity was already included that none of the staff really had any reason to try and excel, or for that matter even try, at their job. They were not friendly, or engaging, or seemed to even care. I got the sense that they were just making it through their shifts. There was no small talk with anyone. Since there is a drink package, why would they try and get us drinks in a timely manner? The one day that we did have sun, it was an “at sea” day. Not once was I ever asked if a server could get me a drink, as I sat in my pool chair. By the fourth day, we were more than ready to leave the ship. We packed up in the evening, and early the next morning to be ready for the early group so we could one of the first to leave the ship. However, in our haste we left our iPad on the bed. We realized this after we had already taken the shuttle to the airport. We frantically called the cruise line, and they suggested that we phone the ship directly (at around $8 a minute) to have someone go back and check the room. The first time I called I spoke to “Karen” and she told me that she would not have someone check and to call the cruise line number. I told that I already had done so and they told me to call the ship. I asked if I could speak to a supervisor and she said no. I demanded to talk to someone else, and she hung up on me. I had my husband call. She picked up the phone again, and when he asked to talk to a supervisor when she answer, he hung up on her too. I called one more time, determined not to be defeated, and again she immediately hung up on me. In my opinion this is THE worst cruise I’ve been on in the approximately half dozen cruises I’ve been on. Read Less

this was a surprise birthday present from my son. my first cruise and I was not disappointed. I had the best time. the staff was friendly. they welcomed us onboard with champagne. the food was absolutely delicious at both the restaurant and the buffet, it had a Caribbean flavor, which I expected. I got the soda package and was thankful they had a soda fountain all over the ship. I could get my own drink and didn't have to wait at the bar or fight that crowd. the room was large enough, the bed were comfy and the room felt really good. room service was great. loved that they had an adult only pool. there were lots of things to do onboard. marc walker, also known as "bing bong" was the best cruise director. he was always letting you know what was going on on the ship so you didn't miss anything. we went to atlantis as a shore excursion, I loved seeing all the stuff and all but I just think it was over priced. we walked around town and did some shopping. not at all impressed with things to do off the ship. we have since gone on 2 more cruises and both of them to mexico, lots more to do and see. 1000% loved the ship and cruise director, wished they went to mexico or somewhere besides Nassau because we loved everything but the destination, liked it though. we wld prob go back if someone who has not wanted to go just because of the ship and marc.
