We wanted to see historic Europe in a guided carefree way. The actual cruise and destinations were awesome. We seen so much history and met some wonderful interesting people. Emerald really did a good job organizing the itinerary. However there was so much coughing and people that were very sick. The ambulance came to the ship 5 times and took people away. My wife contracted pneumonia and is still ...
Initial embarkation was straightforward, as the ship was docked adjacent to the port, but if this is not the case as we encountered later, it can be a matter of luck whether there is a straight walk through another ship, or if one has to climb to the sun deck, traverse two sun decks, and down again to the dock. As I am able to walk a few steps with assistance, this was less of a problem for me, ...
Went from Regensburg to Budapest.
Boat was beautiful, crew friendly - absolutely bent over backwards to help and so kind. Food was delicious and you could go smart casual or just casual. Cabin comfortable and spotless, as was whole ship, which gleamed. Highlights were private concert in the Ludowicz Palace, Vienna, with champagne reception (take Euros cash for programme) and afternoon tea at ...
The cruise it's self was excellent, the staff very attentive and the food good. I really couldn't fault the cruise, HOWEVER, I very nearly didn't go as my experience of the UK Customer Service department was utterly appalling and I thought if this is the way the cruise will unfold I wasn't interested. Facilities on the ship were good but limited, the itinerary was excellent and they obviously had ...
Went on the cruise with friends. We had previously sailed with AMA on the Danube and Viking in Portugal. Food, cabins, staff and ships are all comparable with previous experiences. Overall was a fun trip and we enjoyed ourselves. Found that there are less active options ( we are in our late 50s) than our previous experiences. There are excursions but they seem to be rushed and less time allowed to ...
First time emerald cruisers an overall great experience. Have been on Viking for the Portugal through the Douro Valley. Food, cabin, staff and overall boat accommodations on par with Viking. Emerald could do better in the cultural experience we found the evening entertainment lacking just a bit. Although our activities director was fantastic but too many game nights. A German cooking class, or ...
We had travelled the Danube before with Emerald which prompted us to choose the Rhine cruise. The cruise ships were both excellent with superb service by all the staff and crew. The included trips were also well planned and well worth the money. The tour guides were well informed and the tours were very interesting.
The one big complaint we all had was the travel arrangements getting to the ...
We chose this cruise for relaxation and panorama. We got plenty panorama but not much rest. The biggest problem was the departure times of the visits, 8am or 8.30am. We were 90% elderly people and like to lie in in the mornings, especially when on holiday. We could see no harm in the departure times being a little later, maybe 9.30am. Most tours were over well before the ship set sail again. We ...
Chose this cruise to see how the old communist countries have fared. The Emerald Sky is a standard Emerald boat that on close inspection is starting to look slightly tatty. The onboard service, as usual, was exemplary. A suprise to me was the 40 degree heat at the end of June into July with humidity to match. This is energy sapping and full day excursions were arduous.
Food,of course, depends on ...
Very good itiniary, staff were on the ball except for one gentleman who was not with it and lacked interest in any customers. Ship was quality with all the mod cons.
On a negative side we did not stick to the itiniary and docked in some obscure places. Explanation given was Viking have more ships than us? When advertising cruises make sure you have booked moorings for the dates you are ...
