We chose this cruise as it would take us to places we have not been too, or places we would have never gone too. The scenery from the ship was mostly farmland and forest, but once on land there were many wonderful things to see. Food was very good, and the portions were smaller so you never left the table stuffed.
The wait staff was excellent.
My only concern was by day 4 people were ...
I chose this tour because it covered the Rhine and the Danube rivers. Also, it had the no single supplement available and as a solo traveller this is a bonus as the regular cruise price is very expensive. The staff on the Emerald Sun were very personable and helpful. They addressed you by your first name rather than a generic greeting in most cases. The cruise ship was kept clean and neat. ...
We had sailed Emerald before and rated it highly, so when we decided on the Danube they were our #1 choice. It’s an attractive well maintained ship with plenty of crew. The weather wasn’t so great so the top deck got little use, but that’s April in Europe. The pre cruise stay in Prague was really good, a very nice and helpful tour director and a comfortable hotel (Majestic Plaza). Well organised ...
We chose this cruise because we had travelled with Emerald before and wanted to explore the Rhine region. The itinerary was from Amsterdam to Basel and our cruise was the first of the season. A high percentage of the crew was new to river cruising and this showed in the quality of service in the restaurant - no shortage of enthusiasm and food quality was good but lack of training was ...
First the good aspects of the cruise. The ship was modern and comfortable. Our Cabin was small but adequate. All of the areas were very well kept. The crew were very friendly and accommodating. The tours were very well organized and informative.
On the negative side the embarkation from Munich was awful. We were staying in Munich and told to meet at 11 am at the airport to catch the bus ...
Having travelled with Emerald before (2014) and Because I love the Moselle & Rhine rivers, it was an obvious choice. However certain aspects were a severe disappointment. Day 6 Trier, awoke moored in a commercial dock next to a scrapyard, 15 miles from Trier, hardly much chance of a stroll ashore after the official tour. Day 7 Bernkastle, except it was Traben Trabach, 30 minutes by coach from ...
We chose Emerald as we had cruised with them previously and were very pleased with our holiday but the customer support pre cruise was nearly non existant
An email from the company was received about 3 weeks prior to departure asking us to complete a couple of questions including who to notify in an emergency and for flight details - as they had booked the flights this appeared to be ...
I choose this cruise because my travel agent said they were similar to Viking, but more modern decor. The room was fine and we loved the drop down window. The cruise director on the ship was very personable and nice. That is it for the positives. Dealing with Emerald was a nightmare. They changed the ship and we were never informed. It made for a nightmarish boarding day. The food was ...
We have been on a number of sea cruises previously and this was our 3rd river cruise that we chose for the destinations. We had not been on Emerald before so this was a new experience for us.
We were met at the airport and transferred to the ship without any problem and greeted by the crew who were very helpful. Our luggage arrived at the cabin safely that we found that the cabin facilities ...
This cruise was arranged through Vermont Biking Tours VBT. The cabin were similar to Avalon, Viking, and Uniworld quality. The staff was excellent speaking English very well and very professional. However, the dining experience is much to be desired. Breakfast and lunch were adequate. Dinner was another matter. The dining room was noisy and it was very difficult to converse. The main course ...
