The food and staff where fantastic.
We were very disappointed that we didn't get to do the entire cruise. The reason that was relayed to the passengers was the water levels where to high to go through the lock system. On Day 3 we made it about half way up the Douro river and it stopped.
We were of the understanding when we went to an information session prior to booking the cruise that ...
We chose this cruise as it would take us to places we have not been too, or places we would have never gone too. The scenery from the ship was mostly farmland and forest, but once on land there were many wonderful things to see. Food was very good, and the portions were smaller so you never left the table stuffed.
The wait staff was excellent.
My only concern was by day 4 people were ...
Took cruise to see the iconic sights of France- Province regions. Great seeing France. Lovely wineries and scenes. Great history. Overall a lot of money for having to serve myself twice a day with buffet. Standing in a lineup to get food everyday and jostling for seating each meal. Food seemed rationed. Continental Breakfast for early birds was small muffins and croissant and a couple of ...
I chose this tour because it covered the Rhine and the Danube rivers. Also, it had the no single supplement available and as a solo traveller this is a bonus as the regular cruise price is very expensive. The staff on the Emerald Sun were very personable and helpful. They addressed you by your first name rather than a generic greeting in most cases. The cruise ship was kept clean and neat. ...
After some comparison shopping, we chose Emerald, based on their brochures and the promotional campaign. It looked like a nice, high-end product and it included gratuities and extended beverage package (along with options that other companies also offer). We sailed for two weeks from Budapest to Amsterdam in the second half of August.
Once we found the ship, the check-in was smooth and well ...
Chose Emerald quite a while ago having been on their river cruises. The style is very similar to the river operation in many ways.
The ship on first impressions looked off white not gleaming. During the cruise some painting took place that gave a better appearance.
Depending on taste there is a lot of grey on the ship. The lounge has some furniture that is not easy to arrange comfortably ...
We had sailed Emerald before and rated it highly, so when we decided on the Danube they were our #1 choice. It’s an attractive well maintained ship with plenty of crew. The weather wasn’t so great so the top deck got little use, but that’s April in Europe. The pre cruise stay in Prague was really good, a very nice and helpful tour director and a comfortable hotel (Majestic Plaza). Well organised ...
I read with interest Jorge Oliver's review of his cruise on the Luna that he apparently took the week before we cruised. It sounds like a different ship.
Maybe our expectations were too high since we had cruised the Douro River on the Emerald Radiance the week before, which was a magical trip. Mr. Oliver refers to the attentive staff who knew his likes, allergies, and restrictions after the ...
We have been on all sizes and levels of cruise ships. Oceanview, grand suites, sky suites, balcony cabins. Some with little amenities and some with a butler. So with approx 60 cruises taken, the following is an accurate review of the Emerald Azzurra.
Being part of the Scenic group with a great reputation, we were anxious for an outstanding experience. Only 86 passengers (max 100) on this voyage ...
Chose this cruise as we have not explored this area of southern France before.
The cabin proved to be adequate and was kept tidy & clean by hardworking housekeepers.
Food and drink were generally very good with a couple of excellent exceptions, proving what could be achieved with a bit more effort.
Staff were generally helpful and courteous, but there was always a feeling that full ...
