Booked this cruise without hesitation after a princess cruise two years ago which was outstanding. First problem occurred with the lifeboat drill, it took forever , the muster point we were at had very little seating which meant sveral people with walking difficulties having to stand for a long time. Prior to the actual drill there were numerous pointless announcements. Thereafter the cruise was OK, but just OK, long wait for everything from drinks to tables to lifts. On a positive note the cabin was great with a very comfortable bed and the ship was very clean. The service was poor a lot of the time, and many of the staff lacked the sort of customer service skills you usually experience on a cruise. Finally the excursions were a massive rip off, 99$ dollars each for a short tour of Guernsey. Will not travel with princess again, it all seemed to be about the money. Drinks package was not worth having as often once the waiters saw your sticker they lost interest and you were left waiting. We had a two hour wait for disembarkation, and drinks were only provided for the elite group. Sorry princess, feel very let down. Read Less

We had balcony cabin ... nice to have the outside space but it was dirty, Both of the chest of drawers were broken . The toilet blocked up 3 times. Cabin number was B601. Only went to MDR once and that was enough ... there are too many passengers and not enough waiters / crew. Service was slow and food was poor. We ate up in Horizon buffet or had room service. Entertainment was okish .. please have movies / films inside and not out in freezing cold or wet weather , ok in Carribean but not off England. Service was ok but lacklustre. Ports of Call we liked ., especially Guernsey and Bilbao where we enjoyed the Guggenheim Museum. We did 1 tour with ship and that was very well organised and interesting. We are Elite but won't go again with Princess as we don't like the trend for huge ships. Read Less

We had never been to the Channel Isle and thought this was an ideal way of combining seeing Guernsey, enjoying a short cruise and trying out a new ship and cruise line. What an mistake. The passengers were so many that we unable to find anywhere to sit, bars didn't cater for non drinkers if they required a coffee when we were able to find seating. Queuing for up to 25 minutes in the Horizon buffet at breakfast when they closed a servery 1 hour and 10 minutes prior to lunch. By the time we found somewhere to sit to eat, the food was cold. Eating and drinking from plastic crockery. Waiting up to 45 minutes for a seat in anytime dining for an evening meal. The international cafe where coffee was served must have only seated approximately 60 -70 people if that. There were several hen parties on board and people walking round the ship with bottle of beer and glasses of wine, making it look like Blackpool at sea. The cabin, although small had no natural light as there was a tender straight outside the window, an 'obstructive view' - be careful and check your cabin before making the booking. Was comfortable with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The steward didn't clear away anything that had been left in the room, like dirty plates or used glasses. The first night entertainment the with the ships singers and dancers was excellent, after that the entertainment went down hill. There were many first time cruisers on board and I don't think the ship has done itself any favours, as there was so many like us would never book with princess again. Read Less

To take my elder mother (88years) to Santiago de Compostela. It was her first cruise and she was very impressed with the ship. As usual we found all the crew to be most helpful and friendly. We took the Princess tour to Santiago from Vigo about an hour on the bus each way, so didn't have time to explore Vigo. The ships tour of Lisbon Highlights took us to the Alfama Quarter, Belem Tower, Monument to the Discoveries, 25April bridge. The town was very busy and we didn't really have enough time at Jeronimos Monastery, only visiting the church. The Maritime Museum was closed for renovation so we went over the 25April bridge, the same design as the golden gate bridges in San Francisco, to the base of the Christ the King monument, 100m high which was very impressive. Ken Broadhurst gave the destination lectures. He is very knowledgeable, gives a sense of the history with slides and appropriate music with gentle humour and useful information for today's visitor. La Rochelle was my favourite port, the small harbour with Street cafes narrow roads with specialist shops and a relaxed atmosphere Sea days on board were spent at various quizzes shopping 'events' and eating! Some venues were rather overcrowded at times especially the International Cafe. We had lunch in the Wheelhouse Bar but waited until after 1pm by which time the queues has dissipated. We had anytime dining meeting different people each night which I much prefer and did not feel the need to try the speciality venues maybe we would on a longer voyage. The wait for a tender to visit St Peter Port was long - nearly an hour but it was very foggy which seemed to slow everything down but we got there in the end. Embarkation and disembarkation was very smooth and quick. Now looking forward to cruising the Baltic on Emerald Princess later this year with my husband. Read Less

I just completed my 15th cruise with Princess, and I've noticed that service has dropped dramatically. On this 16-day transatlantic, I booked low on the ship, due to problems with seasickness...and this time, music from the crew quarters drifted upward. When I reported the problem to passenger services, the night manager appeared in our room and offered us EAR PLUGS! (After some discussion with this young lady, she went to find the problem and got the music turned down...but the problem reoccurred three more nights.) I was also asked "what time do you go to bed?" so that the crew could play their music loudly until then....HA! Had I had my TV volume too loud anytime, day or night, I would have been asked to turn it down...why does the crew have special privileges? Our Princess Circle representative was absolutely no help on disembarkation. She was late to the lounge, was more interested in the coffee, pastries and flirting with the bartenders to make announcements. When my 87-year-old mother asked her about the timeliness of getting to our flight, the Princess Circle representative started waving her arms and acting very condescendingly to the passengers. We got notification of our group departure via the woman's walkie-talkie, as she was too busy talking to the staff to assist us. I'm an Elite member of Princess Cruises...but I'd have to think long and hard if I wanted to go again. Better service on Royal Caribbean. Read Less
