One reason I choose to Cruise was to have fun and try out new experiences, how is it like to be in a titanic a 5 star moving hotel. The first time you enter the ship the ship smells 5 star and looks 5 star all the way, the decorations inside are amazing you even forget That you are inside a ship. The embarkation que is horrible, you can't wait for a while before entering the ship, and didn't like the fact that they only open few service desk during embarkation. The stuff members are super great and friendly especially the man responsible for our deck 8, even when most of them didn't know how to communicate in English but they tried. MSC is one hygienic cruise hotel I ever seen, every corner you turn there is sanitation thats what I loved. The food is super Healthy and they don't compromise on taste, everything I ate I could taste that it's quality food. The dinning areas I loved them because you get the opportunity to dress up and be fine and finned, only problem is you have to buy soft drinks all the time, I don't mind them selling alcohols wish they could have gave us maybe complimentary soft drink for every fine dinning meal or 5 drinks per Cruz then the rest you purchase. I loved Eric the voice from above the program director all his shows were fun and entertaining. The parties organized by stuff were super great problem they only last for an hour. Deck 13 buffet area was home to most cruises and would like to give blow to the stuff there at deck 13 because they are forever working, especially the pizza guy 24 hours pizza. Our cabin was in front so every wave the ship cut through we felt it, and you couldnt stand straight which resulted in sea sickness, so would advice you to book balcony center cabin. The excursions on the island were expensive hence did not do them. I hated the fact that we did not go to Pomene Island and they could not take us to a different island like Maputo instead of Portuguese Island which had nothing to see the second day and the waters were unclean to swim at them. Pomene has been giving them a problem why don't they start looking for an alternative to island or take it out on your markets because when I booked I saw two island and wanted to visit two not one island. The disembarking program failed them a bit, stuff was not properly assigned to guide people were they should go,whuch made things to go slower. The photo package is expensive and it would be nice if the price could go down or be included as our take home package because we got nothing as complementary everything you have to buy. Despite all the negatives would still go and advice people to go is an experience you don't want to miss. Read Less

It was our first cruise experience and we enjoyed it through out. We did not have enough time to even look all parts of the ship. Its huge. They have lots of entertainments to keep us busy. Rooms are very neat and compact, cleaning service is 100% perfect. Issues are resolved soon. Only suggestion is to have some difference in break fast, every day it was same menu repeated. We did easy on board, highly recommended, you dont have to wait for long. I would even prefer easy off boarding during disembarkation. Go earlier for breakfast, otherwise it is going to be crowded. We did not have chances to enjoy the lunch, we were busy with various other activities. You will have other food always like pizza, bread, salads etc. Food is not only provided at buffet area, there are other restaurants supply the same food during breakfast and lunch. Dining alone food menu is different between restaurant and buffet area. For fine dining, they say strict, but its actually not that strict, I have seen people dining in shorts. Read Less

I travelled with the Oppiwater Kunstefees. The embarkation and disembarkation was very slow but allwrite. The food was good but not excellent, the cabin was very good/excellent. The shore excursion was good and interesting but not excellent. The ship is very big and it takes quite some time to accustom yourself and not get lost. The informal dining room was to crowded, to few tables. The services was excellent. I would not go again and next time prefer a smaller ship or a river cruise. I did not travel with children. The kunstefees which I attended was excellent.. The swimming pools area was good and the deck chairs also good. The services allover was excellent and the staff very friendly and professional. The venues for the shows was excellent, although a lot of the shows started late. The embarkation and disembarkation was very slow but very efficient, I suppose its nessasary for the officials to be very complete. The information on the ship was also excellent with the day to day papers. Read Less

My wife wanted to go on the RSG Oppiwater cruise. We travelled to Durban by bus as a first ever experience. Was a good way to travel.... no toll gates to pay, relaxing and very cost effective. The size of the ship overwhelmed us... Like a huge big mall floating on water. We suggest you go with a group of friends to maximise your experience. I would like to do the 21 day cruise to Europe. That would be really relaxing It was really easy to finding our way around the ship with 13 lifts and lots of stairs. The food was good BUT the hot water for the tea and coffee war always luke warm instead of hot! This must be due to the 2500 passengers on board moving in and out of the reataurant on deck 13. This facility os open 24 hours a day so you can pop in anytime for a pizza or a late night snack Read Less

For a brake in live, we enjoy a boat cruise, no phone or laptops no work. The boat have enough lay back entertainment lounges with live music or top deck pools and bar. Don't forget to get some cocktails!! Food for Africa and the evening dining a must. The rooms is service daily. A daily time table for info for the next day activities is delivered. We sleep with the balcony door open, how nice to fall a sleep with the noise of the see. We travel with no children but there is enough to do for them, playrooms etc. At Promene we walk to the Old Hotel (only 5km), and were back for lounge. Remember to take enough water and a hat with the walk the sun is hot !! The other people enjoy the see. We are already booked for next year Walvis Bay boat trip can't wait. Read Less

But soft drinks were expensive. And i thought i will gain weight as people told me about food for everytime but i didnt because your food was healthy. Overall i rate Msc musica cruise excellent. We dreamt of doing a boat cruise for quit a long time already and when it eventually happened it was the best holiday experience ever! Everything fell in place as planned and it was fantastic! The ship is overwhelming beautiful and the service the best ever! Adrian Godoy served us with dinner and his service was excellent. The room service was the best and the person bent over backwards to accommodate us on the last day with our laundry, since I have waited too long to hand in the last bundle of laundry. Everything went smooth and we had no problems with anything at all. We can't wait to start planning our next trip with the MSC. We hope to visit Italy along with the MSC Bellissima. We did explored Durban the day before our departure and our daughter was fortunate enough to be chosen as a volunteer to touch a dolphin at UShaka World. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. We would just wanted to stay on the ship longer on the last day, but unfortunately our group had to leave very early that Friday according to the MSC's arrangements. The ship is beautiful inside and out and we could not stop taking pictures of all the different levels inside. We spent most of our time on deck 13 and went there early every morning to take beautiful pictures of our daughter and sunrise in the background. Thank you very much for a lifetime experience! We traveled from Mosselbay to Durban a view days before we got on to the ship. We stayed in Durban Spa and enjoyed the flea markets and restaurants alot. We also visited Ushaka Marine World wich is always a great experience! We booked easy onboarding tickets(I think that's what its called) so we boarded easy and fast. 10 minutes after boarding we where already eating our first delicious meal on board the Musica! Great way to start our trip...we where still docked at this stage. Our cabin was very nice and we had a balcony that really helped to get our clothes and towels dry during the trip after swimming . The crew was very friendly and helpful! I must say...one of the highlights of our trip was our Cruise Director Eric. He is a great entertainer and it will be difficult for me to not have him as the cruise director if I should go on another mcs ship. We traveled with our children...I think they went with...we never saw them! They enjoyed it so much and although both my children is shy they took part in all the teens activities. We booked a snorkeling excursion which was out of this world! I was flabbergasted the moment I stuck my head in the water.! Most beautiful sights I've ever seen... There is just one thing I think MSC should work on when passengers go on a shore excursion is to have at least water available as soon as the passengers get to shore..one of my friends was feeling very sick and when we asked for something to drink none of the MSC crewmembers wanted or could help us because the bar wasn't open although all the drinks was already there...we only got something to drink an hour and half later and we had to ask one of the locals to please give us water. He managed to convinced someone at a MSC bar in the little town we where driving through they gave us beer and none of us drinks alcohol...afterwards they gave us local water to drink. This part was not a nice experience. However in a whole our trip was amazing! We are already planning our next trip for next year! Thank you MSC! Read Less

I would definitely advise anyone else to go on the msc. It was our first time. I was worried about the weather but it turned out better than expected. Portuguese island was so relaxing and we enjoyed playing in the water. Please msc cater for mutton aswell because we do not eat beef or pork. We mostly ate chicken onboad. We ate not fish lovers. However everything was beautiful. Very efficient in the planning. We received a newsletter every afternoon to know whats happening the next day. The shows were world class. We really enjoyed it. We did experience some motion sickness at first but after the first night it was much better. Thank you so much for this experience. We will be definitely coming back. Read Less

Firstly, let me start of by saying that a MSc cruise is something that everyone or every family should go on at least once in their life. As a first time cruiser I did not know what to expect. Let me just say "I had a Mind-blowing experience". Departure time was 15:00pm on Friday March 29th. We arrived at the N-Shed passenger terminal at approximately 8:00am to a small queue of people. On the side of the queue were 2 shops selling coffee, tea, cooldrinks, pizza, burgers, boerewors, rolls, chips, sweets, chocolates, etc. The crew opened the boarding process at 10:00am. Once the line started moving we were greeted by MSc baggage handlers that took our luggage & other MSc staff that told us what documents to have on hand. From here we want to the MSc checkin desk, and thereafter to the Immigration/Home affairs officials who checked & stamped our passports. Quick & effecient. Thereafter MSc photographers took photos of all guests. Passports were taken once on board so they could be presented to the Mozambiqcan Immigration officials. The first thing we did was go the the activities desk to get an armband for my son so he could be identified if he got lost. Thereafter we were directed to the buffet area to have lunch. After we were done with lunch we were free to explore the ship in all its glory. And my word this ship is "Glorious" and of gigantic proportions. The attention to detail is second to none, well designed in every aspect. Opulence, Luxuriousness, Magnificence & Grandeur is the only words I can use to describe the beauty of this work of Art! There is a whole floor of duty free shops selling everything from Liquor, clothing, toys, jewellery, watches & Msc memorabilia. We then proceeded to the top deck whilst we waited for our cabins to be prepared where there were 4 jacuzzis, a kids pool & 2 adult pools. The top floor boasted 4 bars situated on each side of the deck as well as the centre. There is also a whole day buffet inside the top deck. Pool loungers & tables on either side of the ship for guests to relax and take in the ocean breeze. And intercom announcement stated that all cabins were ready for occupation at approximately 13:15pm. Once we had found our cabin low & behold our luggage was outside our cabin doors. The room & the view is stunning for its size. Neat & fresh. Everything smelt clean, considering that people had just departed the very same morning prior to our occupation. It can't be an easy task maintaining a ship of that size that thoroughly with such efficiency. Every day you receive an itinerary that tells you stuff about the island, the ship, shows, entertainment & where its happening as well as specials available at the duty fee shops. Cruise cards which is your personal ship everything card was left on the beds. You use this card to do everything - buy stuff, excursions, bar purchases, etc. The cruise card also states which dining area you go to for supper as well as your table & seat number. You use the same table every evening & you have the same waiter. Prior to supper there was a compulsory drill where all passengers & crew were asked to go to the cabin and fetch our life jackets from the cabin & the proceed to the 7th floor which is deck 7. Just so you know the lifeboats are on deck 7 and no; the ship wasn't about to sink. It was a drill to show all passengers what to do in case of an emergency. Staff were well prepared and on point. We opted for the 18:00pm sitting with a different menu every evening. 3 course meal consisting of a starter, main & desert. Meals were well prepared by master chefs from around the world. Kids also have the option of choosing from their own menu or the main menu. Some always available option are also on the menu. Service is top notch, as waiters are constantly checking on you. You can purchase drinks or cooldrinks at the restaurant. The waiters simply charge it to your cruise card or use your vouchers. Whilst dining were we greeted by waiters selling bottles of alcohol like Jameson & Klipdrift which if purchased came with 3 cans of cooldrink. Being a brandy connoisseur I opted for a bottle of Klipdrift for $37,99 which at the current rate used by MSc for the cruise was R15,14 which worked out to R575. Which is not bad considering I was told that drinks are very expensive on board. And people saying that you must buy vouchers because it works out cheaper. Let me explain - MSc has a drinks voucher for R858 which gives you 18 drinks of your choice like cocktails, whiskey and coke, etc. For me, I drink brandy which made more sense to buy a bottle, actually I ended up buying 2 bottles which when compared to buying a drinks voucher was a waste of time for me. For other cocktail and Pina colada lovers the drinks voucher would have made sense because it works out to about R50 a drink. Which is what you would pay in a nightclub or bar. And the price I paid for the bottle is what you would pay for a bottle of liquor at a restaurant or nightclub. Saturday morning breakfast was the usual variety of bacon, toasts, salads, eggs, juices, fresh fruits & the list goes on & on! One thing food & the variety of it is never short. There's too much. The 13th floor were the top deck is has a buffet area that is operational almost the whole day until midnight. You can have burgers, pasta, hot dogs, pizza, carvery, etc. In fact I cant even remember all the food to mention because there was too many options. After breakfast we went down to visit the Portuguese Island. Once you receive your number you relax in the lounge or explore the shops whilst waiting for your number to be called. Once called you follow a queue to get onto the speedboat after being scanned off. Once on the island there were various market stalls selling everything from alcohol to gifts. The island is uninhabited and only has MSc lounges and buffet areas as well as bars. Food was already ready once we arrived with everything from burgers, chicken wings, cold meats, calamari, fresh fruit, etc. The water was so clear you could actually see the fish. The water was warm and calm. The way back was also efficient. You are scanned back in & given an ice cold hand towel, a relief after being in the blistering sun. You are not allowed to bring any wooden items on board due to contamination. The on board entertainment is great, MSc really has great staff from around the world and there is always something happening somewhere. We attended a theatre show as well as a comedy act. The night prior to disembarkation you are given labels to attach to your luggage. You also receive a disembarkation form that tells you based on the colour of your luggage label which lounge to wait in & what time to depart. The whole process for disembarkation is efficient. All I can say is that from the time I boarded the ship to the time I left "Everything works like Clockwork". Hats of to MSc, from the call centre staff to the crew both on board & off. You guys rock, every interaction with any of you was a pleasant experience. Staff were well dressed and extremely well mannered. Read Less

I went with 16 family members. The food, entertainment, crew was fantastic. The cabin and service were excellent. The only thing, which was not the Captains fault, was that we never got to both islands due to the heavy sea swells. But we were entertained well for those two days. The children were well looked after, 6 year old and four year old.And for the older children the disco and fun times were good. We found that the swimming pools and Jacuzzis were very relaxing. The waiters were very friendly and always ready to serve you. The photos that were taken were very professional and the quality excellent. The boughey was very good with a wide variety of foods. You could never get hungry on the ship as there was always something to eat, no matter what time of day or night. And as for the entertainment there were excel;lent shows and game shows. I highly recommend this cruise. This has been my 4th cruise with MSC and will be planning another one next year. Read Less

This was my 5th cruise with MSC. I was interested in visiting Portuguese Islands and Pomene on this cruise. So yes, it was disappointing that we could not tender to the two islands. However, the revised two programmes for these two days made up for not being able to get off the ship. Also, I appreciated that Captain Pinto chose to place the guests and crew's safety first. The overall experience of my cruise was awesome. The suite we stayed in was wonderful. We were wonderfully surprised to have guest gowns in the cabin. I always enjoy the fine dining. And as on previous MSC cruises, I was not disappointed. The food was wonderful and the staff was wonderfully efficient and friendly. THANK YOU Shasha and your team. The shows were extraordinary, so wonderful. I attended all 4 nights. However, I did not necessarily enjoy the comedy evening, I am not a fan of live comedy. But that is just me. I did not use all my pre-paid vouchers and it is great that I will be able to use the vouchers I have left on the next cruise I have booked. I enjoyed all the entertainment, from clubbing to after midnight to dancing on Deck 13 until late. Read Less

Everything is excellent, the staff is so professional, the team is so organised, they always ensure that they maintain their goal i.e. making sure that everyone is entertained to the best of their ability. Professionalism is their key word. The food everyone is catered for e.g. those who prefer healthy diet they are catered for and those who like junk food are also catered for. We all know that cleanliness is next to God so the place is always clean the cabins, dining halls and even the entertainment areas, for an example their swimming pools. Communication is very key, they always update you about the activities of the day, there are programmes to remind you about everything happening on the boat. what I enjoyed most it was the dinner time, the service was excellent, you and your family are allocated a waiter to service you. The food on the is out of this world. I will definitely recommend to my friends to go on vacation on MSC boat cruise. Read Less

We did the Sokkie cruise from 08 to 11 March 2019....which was supper...mostly white Afrikaans speaking passengers onboard which all like the Afrikaans Sokkie Music.. so the vibe on the ship was great.. Cruising these days are not cheap any more and we staying in Pretoria so to travel to Dbn and back is also costing a lot. Therefor to make it worthwhile we decided to do the back to back cruise. Embarkation and disembarkation went well. We are pensioners and cruising a lot. The MSC Musica is a beautiful ship but we prefer the outlay of the MSC Sinfonias pool area more. On the day of embarkation the eating arrangements was quite chaotic...you were standing in long ques to get to the food just to find that some of the dishes put out was already finished...and to got a seat to sit down with your plate of food was even worse.During the whole cruise we never had a decend cup of hot coffee from the coffee stations. Hot water was kept in a non electric urn to make your coffee from.. and only cold milk was available...terrible...and most of the times there was no coffee powder available...you have to beg someone to find you a coffee sachet or two...only ready made American coffee...also luke warm ...was most of the times available. The juice at breakfast times is also a problem...either to sweat...or most of the times to watery...The food was good...not a big variety...same food over and over during the cruise..we only had fried fish once during the whole week...fried or grilled fish is much nicer than the steamed fish over and over on the menu during dinner times in the restaurant...give us a choice from the menu.. fried, grilled or steamed fish...What happened to the prawns on this cruise...we only had one prawn one night on a plate with a piece of fish and a calamari steak that nobody ate because the calamari steak was to chewy..you cant prepare calamari steaks in advance...rather make fried calamari rings...much better option for a lot of people...there was calamari rings for a starter but the portion was very small...we never got garlic snails or sushi on the menu for a starter ..may be MSC should put it on their menu....the south africans love it!!!!The sushi in the Kaito Sushi Bar was quite expansive...unaffordable for us.... The entertainment was great...specially the entertainment by the Sokkie team...Chambels en friends..most enjoyable..The Duo Resonance band was also very good..outstanding..most enjoyable..nice music for dancing...the best in a long time...it would have been nice if only they could have played alone in one of the lounges at all times and the Definition Band in another lounge...it gives everybody a choice to enjoy what ever they want to. When the Duo Resonance band was playing the dance floor was permanently full....that say something!!!! Overall the service and the staff onboard was good. I really hope that MSC can try to make things better in the problem areas....as we already booked the South Bound cruise in October on the Orchestra coming to SA as well as 3 cabins for the New Years cruise in December to Mauritius with our married children and grandchildren for my mothers 80th Birthday....as I said ...to cruise these days is costing a lot of money...!!!!so at least give us nice food and great entertainment... I will not suggest to my worst enemy to go on the MSC MUSICA AGAIN the cruise was over booked since we got on the ship we did not have anyplace to sit , never mind the package that i took they said there will be a welcoming letter from the Captain - just a note from management i wanted to take all my grand children next year but i will rather stay at home some of the people on the cruise stayed in there cabin due to the overcrowding if you wanted to get a drink at the bar it took you half to and hour, i can be glad that idid not take any children, the super sokkie we paid was a waste of money we could notsee any of the artist and i had to sit on a lamp pole, we could not even see the activities on the cruise we had to stand 95% of our time the only time we could sit was at dinner or lunch This cruise was for my husband birthday and he hated every minute of it the photos costed a lot of many sure all the photos they destroy could have been givenat a special price on the last day of the cruice Read Less

I went for the Afrikaans Sokkie and it was my birthday. MSC Musica. I did state when I made a booking that it was my birthday. When I did my first cruise 17 years ago also on my birthday, I was supprised with a birthday cake! Now they charge you for it. There was always photographers taking ransom photos during your cruise, now you have to go to them and it is all unnatural studio photos at USD12 per photo!! Previously You bought a beverage package for the duration of your cruise which included all coldrinks, coffee, tea, ice-cream etc, now you can buy a package that has a maximum of 18 drinks, whether it is alcohol or not for R850 depending on the exchabge rate. And they do not tell you beforehand that it is limited to a specific amount (usd) per drink!! Everything has become so commercialized and greedy, that it does not seem to be worth the almost R5000 per day that you spent. Read Less

Why is the photos so expensive. When you dont buy it they throw all away?? Their are many people that look at the photos but dont buy. It is very nice pictures but really expensive. Think about cheaper prices as to throw everything away.. The food staff rooms and entertainment is very nice. On our 2 nd trip their was also more fish available. Deserts and so many of a variety of fruits were avaible. Cocktail of the day was also our favourite The staff is helpfull and friendly. We enjoy all the entertainment . We did not see the Sokkie singers too much to mingle with them as it would have been nice. On Portuguese Iland with all the changes and enough shades was awesome. We will definitely go on another cruise. Prices is resonible. Their is 1 more last thing. The hairdryer does not work as the laat time Read Less

Awesome experience excellent waiter. Had a wonderful time and the weather was great. Excellent and fast embarcation and disembarkation. Will recommend a lot of people for this affordable holiday getaway. Not the first time cruising with MSC but must say MSC musica was the Best so far! When you leave the cruise ship you feel like you are part of a family a very big family. I wish I could meet that waiter we had he was the best and made my day every night when we went for dinner. The food was absolutely WOW something you don't see in every kind of cruise. The entertainment on the ship was something out of the ordinary the shows every night in the theater was grate like it was trained for years. This will definitely not be the last time cruising with MSC and there will be plenty coming in the future. . Congratulations MSC with the launch of your 17th ship! Read Less
