I have been on 3 cruises before this cruise. Both our previous cruises were "cold weather" cruises, one in Alaska and one in NZ. We were very excited about this cruise and I must say we did have an enjoyable time. However compared to the 2 other cruises the ship lacked "quality". The food was below average, especially in the fine dinning areas in the evenings. The entertainment was very good, décor was good but a big concern for me was the cleanliness off the public ablutions. The smelt very bad and where not clean!! We were in a non smoking section of the ship but guests close to us kept on smoking and the smell will blow into our area. This was not dealt with by the staff on board. I wouldn't rush back to a MSC cruise based on this experience. The destinations were great. Mauritius was fantastic and Reunion even better. The excursions were very expensive and can be done on your own at a much lower cost. Read Less

I choose this cruise because i enjoyed my cruise on the MSC Sinfonia at April 2018. So i booked a trip to Mauritius/Reunion on the MSC Musica for our 40th Anniversary. The embarkation took very long. We have not paid for easy on board. The cruise members were very friendly and helpful and also at the reception. The food and restaurants were great and we have always a place to sit. We only swim once because it was always fullhouse in the shadow around the swimmingpool. The 3 excurtions we went on was well organized. Our Cabin was big enough but as we were on deck 12 we could always hear how the children ran up and down on deck 13. It was a bit too noisy for us. I would like to go on another cruise in the future, but next time on another deck. We were always feeling safe and secure on the ship. Thanks to the captain and cruise members. Read Less

Overall it was a great experience! We thoroughly enjoyed the new ship even though it took a few days to get used to. We did miss the Symphonia though. This is our 3rd cruise and definitely not our last. (We have already booked for New Year 2019) The cabin was bigger then we expected and were very happy we booked a balcony....Even though we had extremely noisy neighbors. It was always very clean and our cabin attendant was very friendly and respectful of our space. The dinners were great and we had many great dishes! Some familiar favorites but some predictable options that lacked a bit of imagination. But all still top notch quality! The service in the dining room was exceptional...as always! What bothered us the most was the shocking dress code in the dining room. We thought there was a strict dress code but it was not enforced which did lower the atmosphere of the dinners. We were also surprised to see so many off the dinners had a "casual" dress code? Call me old fashioned but I don't want to see baggies and slops at dinner? They should rather go to the buffet. The gala evening dress code was SHOCKING and I felt very over dresses wearing a suit. The sushi restaurant was an absolute winner! One thing we did notice on this cruise was an absence of the Entertainment staff? Usually they were more active on board and created a much more festive atmosphere. It didn't bother us but was a little sad to see. As far as the activities go there wasn't as much as in previous cruises? Again this didn't bother us as we still had lots to do but we did hear a few people mention that. In previous years there were always talks and extra games shows in the theatre. We definitely did miss the tv screens with daily events. I know they aren't needed as booking for the theatre is no longer necessary....Ok the theatre...WORLD CLASS! Going to see any show was a real event with the new theatre! The shows were ok. Not the high standard that we are used to. The calibre of the dancers was great but I personally feel the average choreography didn't showcase their standard. Overall the shows weren't what we were used onboard but we did still enjoy them. Generally the service on boards was awesome as usual, however, some of the staff at reception clearly are not people people and we were met with distain when we had a query? The excersion desk was good but some staff were clearly not trained on what was on offer. The excersions we went on were great and had an awesome time! Particularly in Reunion! Generally we loved out cruise and cant wait to board the Orchestra in December this year. The only negative gripe we had was we felt this cruise was a bit "green" like a training cruise to break in staff, shows etc? But still really enjoyed it! Read Less

We arrived in Dbn via the airport and used the transfer busses which was excellently organised. We did not explore Dbn prior to our cruise as we had a direct flight from Jhb to Dbn the morning of embarkation. EMBARKATION: When we arrived at the harbour it was absolute chaos, it seemed like majority of the passengers had been waiting in line for hours due to a system problem with home affairs? We had to wait in the lines for about 2 hours without anything to drink (because you are not allowed to take anything onboard the ship). We had two toddlers, a pregnant lady and a pensioner in our group and the long wait in the extreme heat (even inside the building) was torture. We really feel that MSC should warn people about the possibility of delays at the harbour and advise people to bring something to drink/eat for incase. There is no where to sit but the floor and there was a lot of elderly and disabled people who really struggled. THE SHIP: The ship is beautiful and maintained very well. Some advice on the pool area, arrive very early to get a seat in the shade otherwise you are stuck in the sun - and with kids one cannot sit in the sun for hours without any shade. The pool is salt / ocean water - my little daughter cried about her eyes burning so take swim goggles for incase. Take some US Dollars in cash to gamble in the casino - it was just peace of mind to rather spend cash instead of charging it against the room and stressing that one might overspend. Buy a prepaid photo package - the photo's are very expensive almost $20 per photo. Also buy drinks/ice cream packages it's worth it. THE CABIN: We stayed in a balcony cabin, which was beautiful and very spacious. With a double sleeper couch. One of the kids was supposed to share a room with Granny and Grandpa however it was so spacious that both kids slept with us in the room. Lots of cupboard space as well - bathroom and shower was really not that small. I was stressing about showering two toddlers every day however it was a piece of cake, they eventually started showering alone and could open the tap by themselves. DINING: We loved the buffet/cafeteria dining for breakfast and lunch, the french fries was amazing so fresh and yummy. Fresh fruit, lots of different desserts, cold meats and cheeses, pizza, anything you can think of. And in the afternoon I loved the freshly baked biscuits with a cup of tea. For dinner we preferred the Restaurant option, we just loved the starters, mains and desserts (the baked Alaska is a must) for 11 nights. The quality was really good (lobster, prawns, steaks, pasta's, ravioli, risotto, fish), and it was exciting not knowing what to expect. The kids also loved it (the even had soup for starters and loved it, and they loved the jelly desert). There was about 6 options for every course sometimes more. ENTERTAINMENT & ACTIVITIES: Entertainment at the pool was so much fun, they really kept us entertained everyday. The shows in the Teatro at night was excellent and worth it! SERVICE: was very good, no complaints. Medrano & Edward was our waiters at L'Oleandro Restaurant, always friendly and lovely to be served by them every night. Lee serviced our room, and we loved his friendliness every day. PORTS & SHORE EXCURSIONS: not very good, it was peak season and the public areas was over crowded. It was more fun to take a taxi and rather go to a beach that wasn't that crowded however the beaches was beautiful the water was crystal clear and warm, kids loved swimming in the tropical ocean. Out of the three days in Mauritius we booked two excursions via MSC and the other day paid a taxi driver to take us to Grand Baie which was more fun. However that's our opinion, even in Reunion we would've preferred to take the shuttle which we didn't know about until the day we stepped off the boat in Reunion. In Mauritius they gave each person a bottle of water prior to the excursion every time you booked an excursion via MSC. So we expected the same in Reunion and therefore left the ship without anything to drink, they didn't give us anything and it was extremely hot. Only about two hours later we could buy something to drink at a market where we could swipe our card, as we didn't take Euro's for only one day in Reunion. However it was an experience we will never forget. DISEMBARKATION: On the day of disembarkation everything was behind schedule (leaving the ship and arrival of the busses) and when we finally stepped off the ship we had to fetch our suitcases (6 big suitcases and 6 hand luggage bags) no trollies available, we had to drag / push our luggage (we where a group of 6 people: 2 elderly people, 2 toddlers {aged 3 and 5}, 1 pregnant lady and 1 man). We had to stand in an extremely long line with hundreds/if not a thousand of other passengers in the heat for 2 hours more or less to wait for our bus. It was really ridiculous, once again with elderly people, disabled people, children etc. Again without any drinking water because one wouldn't expect a second disaster after embarkation was such a mess. Luckily there was a vendor selling coldrinks and chips, and luckily we had cash to buy the kids something to eat and drink. Furthermore we missed our 11h30 flight, only arrived at the airport at 12h10 and had to pay R400 per person extra in order to move our flights (R2500 in total-what if we couldnt afford it???). We sat at the airport until 17h35 waiting for our flight which was delayed twice, once again really frustrating and unfair. MSC should warn their passengers to arrange flights after 14h00 for incase there's delays like we had with disembarking. KIDS & CRUISING: the kids loved it, they keep asking when are we going on the big boat again. However we will wait for one of the newer cruise ships to grace our shores. Those have beautiful waterparks for the little ones. Even the Sinfonia or Opera have, I think the kids will love that. The balustrades are really high and safe for kids in the balcony suites and most areas of the ship. In some areas of the this ship it's a bit more dangerous where theres only a steel balustrade however we watched the kids very closely. FUTURE CRUISING: yes, we will do it again...however i think a cruise to nowhere is a better option. It's like living in a hotel for 11 days, eating, drinking, relaxing, gambling, being entertained day after day. What a pleasure. Visiting an island for one day even three days is not worth it...I will rather fly to Mauritius / Reunion and spend a week to explore the island properly. However we still enjoyed it. If MSC could just sort out the embarking and disembarking it will make a huge difference in the experience. Or maybe we just had bad luck? Thank you for a wonderful New Years Cruise - 27 Dec 2018 to 7 Jan 2019 Read Less

Our cruise was an amazing ! We loved every precious moment of our time. We utilised the Easy board option which is a BLESSING! Quick and fuss free. I cannot understand why people do not opt for this option! We were able to enjoy the festivities on Deck 13 , within minutes of collecting our pre- paid packages(effortless the method of collection) and dropping off items in our cabin. One actually feels like Royalty when you breeze past all the waiting people and embark. The cabin was clean , well ventilated when we arrived , considering the suffocating humidity outside. Our dining was absolutely the BEST! Oh MY WORD! Don't get me started........ I am sure we were assigned the CREME de la CREME of available staff in the dining room. ROMEO CHUA and VIKRAM SINGH , have to be the MOST AMAZING young gentlemen who we have EVER had the pleasure of meeting on our cruises. I actually had a tear in my eye the night we bid them farewell! ( not even joking) They were so interactive , humorous and exceptionally efficient. They are most definately an asset to MSC. The menu was delicious , I was never disappointed. We only enjoy sitting in the dining room , entire experience is just ideal for us. General service was great , staff were friendly and efficient in all areas of the boat. I loved the shows on this cruise more than the Mediteranean cruise. It was Spectacular! The talent of performers , WOW! unbelievable. It was a mixture of wonderful displays of telent. We have a daughter of 16 , she had the time of her life.! Connected with similar aged kids and had a blast until the very last moment of the cruise. Many tears were shed that morning when the Good byes were done. They had spent the entire cruise together from the moment of embarking! I cannot wait for my next cruise , for me personally.........CRUISING is the ONLY way to ENJOY a great holiday!!!! Read Less

We went on this cruise to satisfy my wife's wishes to go on a cruise. Boarding the ship at Durban was a disaster. Safety procedures the first day were very unprofessional compared with other cruises i have been on. Instructions were received in a crowed lounge with no intention to demonstrate an emergency drill next to the lifeboats which has been done on previous cruises I have been on. I felt a sense of poor attention to emergency by the crew. The cabin was well fitted out and comfortable. Food was generally of poor quality. Crew on board were generally helpful except for the day of arrival at Durban. Disembarking was a total shambles. The staff had promised wheelchair assistance from the cabin on morning of disembarkation and none turned up. When i called for the staff member who had promised to help, she and her colleague were not available. I will never use MSC for any cruises in the future. Read Less

We had an opportunity to go on our first ever cruise to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We had high expectations and prepared ourselves accordingly. Our first disappointment came when the promised wheelchair for my husband was not available. The waiting to board on account of the passport control computer glitch added to our woes. These two setbacks caused a great deal of discomfort added to which cabins were not ready either due to late disembarking of the passengers from Mozambique. We were disappointed with the cuisine in the dining room and expected some more exotic dishes. For the most part it was flavourless and definitely not served hot. in our opinion the pool deck is actually too small to accommodate the number of passengers. For us to ensure we had somewhere to sit on the pool deck I had to get up there somewhat early, even before breakfast to "book" a table otherwise we would not have been able to find seating. Our cabin and cabin steward were pretty darn good but there were a couple of days when our promised fruit did not arrive at the cabin. The evening shows were excellent and we saw all except one of them. We found the library had a good enough selection of books. Our disembarkation was another disaster although this time we were allocated a wheelchair which enable us to get ashore quickly and have to say the helpers were first class. Due to some or other reason our baggage tag had a brown label so despite disembarking early we were the last to receive our luggage. it was only thru my calls and the kindness of another passenger that our Southcoast Shuttle waited for us. I have to say tho that we would certainly cruise again but possibly not at that time of the year or when it is so busy. I think it would be in your best interests to advise parents of children that running in the passages and thru lounges should be discouraged. I saw some near clamaties caused by that and children should not be allowed to play in the lifts. Read Less

Easy way to travel - lots of entertainment, excellent food, great spa & gym! Travelled from Durban to Mauritius & Réunion. Sea was calm, had a wonderful Balcony cabin. Preferred later dining slot & managed to request a table just for 2 which made experience more suitable. Entertainment shows were good - enjoyed the comedian from Durban & the last night's show was excellent. Excursions in Mauritius were over priced and not worthwhile. The Excursion desk staff on board, did not really take our complaint of being overcharged & for marketing the Ille Aux Cerfs incorrectly as a private island (it was open to the public and not the nicest beach in Mauritius - very expensive for what one received). Embarkation & Disembarkation at Durban Port terrible. Many hours in extreme heat & chaotic. Unfortunately first and last impressions of what would have been a very relaxing Holiday! Would have preferred it if there were more Italian staff on board the ship to give it a truly European feel. Overall, it was a relaxing way to start a new year. Read Less

This was my 3rd holiday upon the MSC. Being from Durban, I knew the city well and getting to port was easy. The embarkation process left much to be desired though as queues were long and stagnant for hours. However, once aboard, our holiday started in grand style. The ocean view cabin was quite spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids. The closet had enough space to unpack. We explored the beautiful ship, and were impressed with its design. The restaurants offered a good variety to please most tastebuds and the themed evenings made it memorable as well. The buffet allowed the kids access the pizza and burgers and a whole lot more for most of the day. The burgers were unfortunately not amazing. We took advantage of the many bars available to indulge in some cocktails. I must be honest, there was no consistency in the preparation of the cocktails and perhaps more training is needed I this area. However, this did not dilute the relaxation or experience for me in any way. The nightly entertainment an the theatre was world class. We were awed every time. The entertainment team were also very impressive. Most nights, there were deck parties which were fun. The lounges also had very talented musicians and live music was found at each one. There was some repetition regarding these sets, but it was still enjoyable. The music was mostly mellow and complimented a glass of wine well. The kids were also considered by MSC and they catered for them well. My kids, however, did find it a bit overcrowded and felt that there was a bit less for their age group (9 years old) to do. They used the option of going when they felt like. The family disco was disappointing. The concept is great and many parents looked forward to having this earlier party with the kids. The entertainment grew should look into this and perhaps plan a party that caters for families. Once we arrived at Mauritius, we had the option of booking tours or exploring the island on our own. This flexibility was great as we were able to plan our days according to our own schedule. Things were very organised at these ports there was minimal hassle getting on and off the ship. As always, the crew and all the service providers, were fantastic, friendly and willing to assist. My overall experience on this cruise was overwhelmingly positive. In my opinion, it is one of the best ways to travel with kids. We ha e already started contemplating our next vacay and MSC is on top of the list. Read Less

We choose that cruise for the itinerary, apity that it was only one day at Reunion and no stop in Madagascar. The Boat itself was great, cabin nice, and food average, but what a disater in embarkation where the staff let us wait for over one hour and thirty minutes , as their Pc was offline before they decide to do the check manually we could hardly understand what they were anouncing on the spearkers in the hall, and at disembarkation we were not informed in our lounge when to go, so we followed everybody and it went smoothly until we had to wait for MSC schuttle, we nearly missed our plane as we were waiting in the sun for two hours to get our bus. We definitely think that a staff of MSC should have been there to check that the flow was running properly. we did find that buses were scare at disembarking but they were actually few of them waitng for passenger at airport. Embarking and disembarking in Mauritius and Reunion was excellent. Staff on board was excellent specially at reception Mariia Lataba, and our waiter Superjana and the supervisor from Honduras in restaurant as they went also out of their way to look after us. Food was average, as some items on the menu did not correspond to what we were served, but quality was average to excellent. Always wanted to see Mauritius and love cruising. We had to fly in from Port Elizabeth to Durban and decided to arrive on Christmas day before embarking on 27 December 2018. The embarkation went relatively smoothly, except that the customs' computers were off line for about an hour. We had the Easy on Board tickets so that helped immensely. Disembarkation was a lot slower due to there being 3 other cruise liners in the harbour so the port officials had their hands full there. The luggage collection could be made better by having a larger space made available and wider isles inbetween the cases. It was rather chaotic with only 1 exit available. Our cabin was situated on the 9th deck and well positioned. We were 3 adults and were very satisfied with everything as well as the service. Service at our Table 505 in the L Oleandro dining room was first class. Our waiters Eko and Jay were fantastic. Eko went above and beyond his waitering. He never once complained about anything. Always had a smile on his face. The evening shows were okay, but the delay between the meals and the shows were too long. There should at least be 1 show during the day. We did not partake in any of the shore excursions as we found them too expensive. We did our own thing. Many passengers were saying they would have preferred 3 days at Reunion and only 1 day in Mauritius. The people of Mauritius were ripping the tourists off! Over-charging on their transport and water taxis refusing to accept coins. This we found absolutely ridiculous and due to these points will not go there again. Read Less

A good break to destress and relax at sea. The on board entertainment was excellent and our assigned waiter for the El Poque restaurant second seating for dinner provided exceptional service - Hadi from Indonesia. The food however was average on occasion, especially the Indian cuisine - was not well prepared. Also, my other family members who traveled, had issues with their Balcony suites not being ready on time when we embarked. The waiting for embarkation was also long with MSC systems being down. There should also be more activities provided to keep all guests entertained especially for the longer cruises. Some of the service staff were very rude and disrespectful during our stay. This matter needs to be addressed by Management, as is a very poor reflection of MSC service standards. Being my first cruise, this was shocking with the bad service we received, and hope MSC will address this. Read Less

After a very sad and upsetting year, tragically losing my husband, I took our two daughters on this getaway to islands we had only ever heard about and dreamed about. We were beyond excited but the whole experience completely surpassed our expectations. The ship was so much more than we had pictured and the idea that such a magnificent artwork, with so many guests and staff, could sail so effortlessly was overwhelming. We loved the evening productions and our daughters, Jos 20 and Simone19, were caught up in the pool deck activities with such enthusiasm. Our island outings have left us with such wonderful memories and experiences. We did the private island, beach and scenic drive to the 7 soils. Each day we were so impressed by our tour guides and the smoothness of the outing. Our island meals were a great way to experience the local culture and cooking -really enjoyed all of them. We met some wonderful people on the ship and we are hoping to keep up with those friendships. Starting the new year with all of the above has revived us and we appreciate and celebrate our new beginning, thank you MSC Musica for giving us the holiday of a lifetime. Read Less

I prefer a longer cruise to a 3 or 5 day and this was wonderful. We went to Mauritius and Reunion which was wonderful. Alcohol was extremely expensive and the collection of wines OK but the staff kept trying to sell you the really bad wine. Facilities were wonderful and it was a family cruise which encouraged lots of children. Swimming in the pool was a challenge but understandable at this time of the year. In the dining room water had to be paid for - I thought a jug of water would not break the bank and would be appreciated. The fruit juice at breakfast was powdered cordial which was not appropriate for a cruise of this nature. Entertainment was good. Cabins were very good. Would highly recommend one with a balcony. So peaceful to sit and read there. Dining room is definitely recommended for lunch and dinner. It is more relaxed and pleasant. Would definitely recommend the Easy Onboard option to minimise queuing for embarkation. Few challenges but overall a wonderful experience and amazing holiday. Read Less

We selected this 11 night cruise on the Musica as it was to celebrate my 50th Birthday with my husband, 2 children , one girlfriend, my mom and my husbands mom and I wanted to make it special for everyone and go were none of us had been before so I chose the Mauritius cruise for the 7 of us. Easy in Board is amazing, it helped with the moms and kept us all sane at the same time-the process was pain free and heat free. We recommend this to all our friends if they are going to take a cruise. Embarkment and disembarkment was perfect, staff assisted everyone and as far as I could tell there were no problems. The Musica is stunning to say the least, the decor is out of this world. We all 7 had balcony cabins which is wonderful as it helps if you need some space to yourself and don't want to be cramped in a small room. Sitting on the balcony watching the waves and seeing the new places from our suite we visited was wonderful. We could leave the door open at night with no fear of an intruder coming through the door. The balcony suite was perfect, 3 of us stayed in the one unit and we had 2 other balcony units for the rest of our group. They all loved it and appreciated the wonderful holiday that they were given. The photos are priceless and many memories made. We had one stipulation in our group and that was to eat dinner in the dining room every night together. Our waiter was amazing and grew a special bond with our 17 year old son - it was amazing to see our son eat so many different types of food and take the waiters opinion very seriously when ordering his meals.A huge level of respect grew between them. Our water with the drinks and breads was equally as professional and after a few days he knew exactly who ate or drank what and was ready for the order every night. We all did different activities and enjoyed the variety of entertainment. There was something for everyone. I personally loved the Tucano Lounge musicians, they were my favourite, I could not wait for every night to go and watch them. Each member of our group enjoyed various entertainment and activities and no-body was left unhappy as there was something for everyone. Some did shows, when others played Bingo, then some enjoyed the Casino, some enjoyed the Piano music and the list goes on and on. The service was great, any problems were resolved immediately and all staff were curtious and respectful. Some of our group went on the Catamaran excursion and that was absolutely amazing, watching my son swim in the middle of the sea without a care, watching the old foggies enjoying themselves. Wonderful staff and amazing excursion, we had a wonderful day of sun, sea, food, good company and rum. Our older son and his girlfriend did other excursions which they also loved, the photos show how much they enjoyed themselves. The excursions are managed well and you feel safe and comfortable all the time.To be honest I preferred Reunion to Mauritius. My husband and I loved the trip, this was our second cruise and we would love to do another one in the next couple of years. Our 17 year old experienced something very different to the keyboard and computer he is used to at home. Spending time in the jacussi, to the swimming pool, shows , gym and so on and so on. He loved the trip, seeing him laugh and enjoying himself and spending time with his brother was priceless. The 2 moms had an amazing trip, they enjoyed spending time with their family and the boat had so many different things for them to do to keep them busy. Our older son and his girlfriend enjoyed every minute of the trip. We would love to do another trip, we feel that these types of cruises are financially good as you can plan what you want to spend before hand. They also take you all over the world and we would like to do the Mediteranean next. I was unable to add my photos to the review. Read Less

Cruised many times on msc and always wanted to go to this particular destination. The embarkation and disembarkation was an absolute disgrace and most if not all the passengers complained. To be made to stand for more than two hours with small children is completely unacceptable. i didn't even see staff from the ship coming around to apologize for any inconvenience caused. I am not asking for much, but this was the most expensive cruise of the entire calendar and i felt we were not treated at all well. The food was really good and the bar staff etc were great. After many cruises with mr steven cloete as the cruise director i was shocked at what i saw from the current person in charge..i would humbly suggest that msc gets someone of mr cloete's caliber in th future. I am sailing again this year as the experience was not terrible, but something needs to be done with the south african entertainment staff. Each year, things seem to get worse and worse. Read Less

In general a relaxing experience which can easily be improved if MSC wants to. Issues that needs attention is the most terrible coffee being served, there is no reason to serve such disgusting coffee and no person on the cruise including staff said that they liked it. Being our second cruise we took cappuccino sachets with, but surely they MUST be willing to serve better coffee. And then SMOKING!!! Again it make no sense that Casino is smoking area, in middle of lounges, open to both ends and the smoke just fills major parts of the lounge areas. Then the excursions the organized with outside companies is expensive but more importantly no value for money as it is basically was a taxi helldrive with lives in danger and no relaxing day tour. It seems that all these is done purely for their bottom line, thus the guests is not their first priority!! Food was good in general but waitering at dinner irritating as there system only allows your waiter to even bring you butter or bread- thus if he is busy or not very good you will wait and ask wait - really irritating- why not at least have runners which can attend small things guest need.? We have selected the cruise going to Mauritius and Reunion because we have never been there and believed we would score to see them both in one shot. The value for money and the experience worth it every cent. The clean cabins, spotless common areas and facilities made the voyage pleasant. The variety of foods and drinks was on a top level. Very helpful staff and prompt response from the crew made everything easy for us. We saw not only the natural beauty of the islands but got close feeling of the history and culture of those places. I would recommend this trip to everyone who has a traveler spirit and adventure hunger for something different. Our children enjoyed the ship activities. The only note is that if you have a bigger family (more then 2 children) you will have a problem and won't be able to book the trip cause the cruise does not cater for more then 2 children in a cabin. We were lucky that the grandparents were with us hence shared their cabin reservation with our third boy. Well this is a problem for future trip planner because we won't be able to take other family members or friends with us. I need to say however that the room was more then big enough to accommodate us all as the double bed was / is like a king size bed. Additional day at Reunion is a must - this was the only disappointment for us. The island deserve at least two days and hope the management will consider this for the future. Read Less

We took this cruise because it was closest to home,it was our first with MSC, it was 11 nights, and had a minimum of 6 days at sea (this gives us time to explore the vessel and to relax), unlike shorter cruises where daily disembarkation is the order of the day. The embarkation was a total disaster. We never experienced such a long wait on any of our previous cruises with Costa, P&O, and others. There was no proper manning and directives from the MSC personnel to which queue we should go to.In all we waited for 3 hours and 30 minutes before we got to our cabin.Thank God the disembarkation although not the best, went smoother, and got to our taxi on time (10 am) to connect to our flight which was scheduled for 12:40pm. The overall appearance of the ship was very satisfactory, pleasant, elegant, well appointed and the interior decor, one of the best we have experienced so far. Warm colors, not overpowering, well balanced with intriguing fixtures and fittings. Disappointed with the size of our balcony cabin (14001), smaller than all our previous cruises for the same category. Although smaller, yet very warm colors, well appointed and very clean. Roni, our cabin attendant provided an excellent service during the whole cruise. I was also disappointed as an Aurea cabin passenger, not to have had access to the Spa facilities free of charge! This is something to be considered. Although most unhappy about the 1st (too early) and 2nd seating (too late), we had a wonderful dining experience especially on the "elegant" days where we got pampered with crayfish tails and prawns. Overall food experience was OK, but got an amazing service from our waiter SUPERJANA, professionally mannered, who really took care of us and the other three Eskenazi guests at our dinner table 627 We were not overall impressed with the evening shows. Some better than others (the family of 4, and the South African Comedian), being better than the others. The sports arena was handled by a disorganized team, in that, I had to personally intervene, to enable us, to have a game of Tennis. We were told, that no one is interested in that kind of activity, by which I responded: How can you have anyone interested when you don't publicize on the bulletin, the time for that particular activity, for which He responded and made an effort to have it printed on the next bulletin. And guess what? many came the following day wanting to play the game. On the day of the event, One of the two posts that support the net had only one bolt holding it instead of 4, and could not secure the net because the pole was leaning badly. The event did not took place, and had to report the matter, which was then rectified for the following day. What is incomprehensible is that when one day we wanted to try our luck to have a game of tennis early in the morning, the tennis posts which holds the net were removed, and again we were inconvenienced once again. Also, the interruption of the TV broadcasting programs didn't meet our expectations. Yes, when you are on a cruise, you can attend to the various activities provided on board, but it's always nice to be in touch with world news, or watch a program when you just want to relax and have a peaceful time in your own cabin. I can go on with more, but, certain things can happen that shouldn't happen. However, I would like to throw in some recommendations for the betterment of all, being the passenger or MSC personnel. -At the buffet: I suggest/recommend MSC to put fairly big posters that states as a slogan: EAT AS MUCH AS YOU WANT BUT DO NOT WASTE ( I was appalled to the wastage/left over of food people leave on their plates) hoping this will bring an awareness to the public to respect food when there are so many people dying of hunger. -I am an Italian, and although the pizza was of a good quality, I feel the base could have been a bit crispier -The croissants, appealing to the eye, but not for the taste bud, should also be crispier. The ones I had, tasted like cardboard -The juices offered (orange, grapefruit...etc) are the worse I have had in any of my cruises. It is poor in quality, pure chemical liquid and undrinkable + they were not cold at all (rather lukewarm) I cannot found fault to the rest of my breakfasts experience. As for the lunch, equally, I cannot find fault to the diversity and quality of food provided At the sports Arena: -Assign a dedicated person that will "man" the sports activities effectively and professionally, reducing unhappy and unattended passengers, with stipulated times printed in the daily bulletin for each activity. At the Spa: -I am the one who recommended to the Spa manager, to lay/place a non slippery mat between the showers in the men's changing rooms and the seating bench (+/- 3 meters long) and 1 meter wide. And equally the same, between the Jacuzzi spa's bath and the entrance doors that leads to it. If by any mistake, one would slip on those floors, it could lead to very grave injuries on behalf of the passenger that could lead to costly lawsuit. By doing what I suggest, it will at least, provide a better walking facility to your passengers preventing them to slip on a wet floor as it is right now. The Dining seating configuration: I recommend that one of the venues, be it l'Oleandro or Belle epoque, provide a freedom seating configuration from 6pm till 9pm. In this way, you are providing a choice to your passengers and the freedom to choose when to eat without being pressurized or pushed. As stated above, the 1st seating starts too early and the second too late. When you complete your lunch at +/- 1.30pm or thereabout, it's too early to go on the 1st seating with only 4 and half hour or so, gap. By waiting now, for the second seating, you are now eating at +/- 8.45pm, getting too late. The above would resolve this issue as in fact they do at the P&O cruises. The ship excursion: I have had on other cruises better tour documented statistically, and more in depth, visiting more ship departments than the one we had on MSC Musica. The participating organisers, did not have the knowledge to present this tour with more statistical informations right across the whole departments we visited, that includes the executive chef from Cape Town. I would recommend that the presenters have a set scripts with statistics for each department to be visited. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: -In order to decrease the cost of printing daily the bulletin and delivered to our cabins couldn't that be done via the TV at our rooms or better, if you provide freely WiFi facility to send the bulletin directly to our mobile. -The kids section on MSC Musica on the upper deck was hardly used. We seldom found anyone over there, parents with their children! That space could be used for something else than a dead end space. -The Specialty Sushi restaurant, on MSC Musica, could have suited better if it wasa good steak house meeting the South African culinary palate, with good steaks(T bones, sirloin, rump, fillet...etc). I believe strongly that this would have been betterpatronized than the sushi restaurant. Whenever we passed by, it was never full, if onlyhalf, most of the time Finally, we were very impressed by Sergiu responsible for future cruise reservations, who managed to organize for us, 8 people, our next cruise in December from Dubai under booking no. 31886371 for Thony Cesano and Paola Thompson. He knows his material well, and was very pleasant and a pleasure to deal with him. Thank you for taking time in reading, this, I believe, with due concern in the hopethat it will be attended or thought off in order to improve the experience of your futurepassengers in any of your cruises. The Ship -Musica was absolutely stunning, the rooms felt a bit bigger and the decor was amazing. The lounges and theater just too beautiful. I just loved walking around and admiring the ship inside. The reception has a water fountain and a piano which is extremely relaxing & calming. (despite kids running around) Dining- A la carte dinners were not to be missed not once except for the day in Mauritius where we only got back to the ship at mid night! (Yes the ship is open 24/7 for you to come and go as you pls) Then we got pizza's from deck 13 buffet restaurant as they cook pizza constantly throughout the day and night. Loved Breakfast time too such a huge variety to choose from. Entertainment - Great, shows were great (the ones we went to at least) Loved some of the duos that sang in the evening, just wished they mixed the songs up as we began hearing the same songs being sung every night. There were fun games in the Crystal lounge later in the eve after dinner which included battle of the sexes and other similar games bringing guests up to the stage; which is always a good laugh. Deck parties were awesome and there should have been more of them for sure. Disco was just a huge disappointment, way tooo many kids running around there. It opens at 11pm why there were still kids around at 1am i don't know, parents just leaving their kids to do whatever they like.... And they say its a family cruise! I believe whether its a family cruise or not there should be rules as there is underage drinking and more going on in the disco area. The deck games were always so fun and entertaining. We loved our designated service staff Adi (Indonesian) & Jorge (Cuban) they were just the best and knew what we wanted to drink and had it ready for us. Melvin from Cigar bar also knew his daily visitors to his bar knew what they drank and didn't need to show room cards as he knew the number already. Mauritius was amazing we went to Ile Aux cerf day 1 with a group of friends we had met on the ship, Hubby played golf on day 2 and went to The Heritage Hotel for the day (beautiful) and the last day Blue Bay which is an amazing place to snorkel as its water estuary as has so much coral and fish and reunion looked beautiful but we decided to stay on board (nothing against Reunion) weather was cloudy and wouldn't have had a great view of volcano or such.
