It was our first cruise experience and we enjoyed it through out. We did not have enough time to even look all parts of the ship. Its huge. They have lots of entertainments to keep us busy. Rooms are very neat and compact, cleaning service is 100% perfect. Issues are resolved soon. Only suggestion is to have some difference in break fast, every day it was same menu repeated. We did easy on board, highly recommended, you dont have to wait for long. I would even prefer easy off boarding during disembarkation. Go earlier for breakfast, otherwise it is going to be crowded. We did not have chances to enjoy the lunch, we were busy with various other activities. You will have other food always like pizza, bread, salads etc. Food is not only provided at buffet area, there are other restaurants supply the same food during breakfast and lunch. Dining alone food menu is different between restaurant and buffet area. For fine dining, they say strict, but its actually not that strict, I have seen people dining in shorts. Read Less

My family and I we had an amazing time the kids loved it and they were busy through out. We love the cruise. However the price on some items was expensive e.g studio photos. In general we enjoyed the cruise. The cabin was clean and the house keeping was on point. The public area pool, bars, kids area and clubs and so on were well managed and the the service was excellent. Entertainment inboard was good however thank you to the intertainment team. And the performers. Food was good and all the restaurants well well managed and the service and house keeping was on point. I understand that the Ship own by the international company. I think it would do the comp company better if you could be mindful of the price when doing SA tours especially drinks. Over all I was happy and I will surely do it again with MSC THANK YOU. Excellent I just think that the drink books should be added to you cruise card, because we loose our books a few times because of all the wonderful cocktails :) Children dont want to go off the Boat, was a life time experience for them. Yes Yes I would like to go again. Is it possible for trips from Namibia (Walvis Bay) because air plain tickets are expensive. PI was beautiful. Entertainment is world class. Embarkation and disembarkation do go smoothly, very well organized. Overall good service and our waiter was so nice with children we all loved him so much. Cant wait to get enough money to go again one day. Thank you for the memories Musica. Photos on board are just a bit pricey, I so much wanted more pics. Activities on board are something not to be missed at all. Yes we did explore our departure city before the cruise. Read Less

Ship was fabulous , Restaurants facilities was superb , you feel like a king . Shore excursion was good , staff was taking care of everything when you get to port. I would like to go again as I loved it very much. I had been there with my wife and her suggestion to go again there. She loved it so much and photographers over there were so excellent in their work that we took almost all photos of us. My best friend was also with me and he enjoyed it too much , all bars, lounges ,dining . he is choosy about food but he was eating so much over there as too many options you had to eat like Indian,Italian cuisines . Finally I would like to say that it was an amazing experience and must go there. Read Less

My wife wanted to go on the RSG Oppiwater cruise. We travelled to Durban by bus as a first ever experience. Was a good way to travel.... no toll gates to pay, relaxing and very cost effective. The size of the ship overwhelmed us... Like a huge big mall floating on water. We suggest you go with a group of friends to maximise your experience. I would like to do the 21 day cruise to Europe. That would be really relaxing It was really easy to finding our way around the ship with 13 lifts and lots of stairs. The food was good BUT the hot water for the tea and coffee war always luke warm instead of hot! This must be due to the 2500 passengers on board moving in and out of the reataurant on deck 13. This facility os open 24 hours a day so you can pop in anytime for a pizza or a late night snack Read Less

For a brake in live, we enjoy a boat cruise, no phone or laptops no work. The boat have enough lay back entertainment lounges with live music or top deck pools and bar. Don't forget to get some cocktails!! Food for Africa and the evening dining a must. The rooms is service daily. A daily time table for info for the next day activities is delivered. We sleep with the balcony door open, how nice to fall a sleep with the noise of the see. We travel with no children but there is enough to do for them, playrooms etc. At Promene we walk to the Old Hotel (only 5km), and were back for lounge. Remember to take enough water and a hat with the walk the sun is hot !! The other people enjoy the see. We are already booked for next year Walvis Bay boat trip can't wait. Read Less

Our trip to Durban to embark was an adventure of colour, vibrancy and excellent sight seeing. uShaka Sea World lived up to its wonderful reputation and provided entertainment, information and an awareness of our responsibility as custodians of the earth. Embarkation procedures to get aboard the Musca went without a hitch and the staff are to be commended for logistical excellence. The welcome was warm and the ship is massive and beautiful. Our balcony cabin was very comfortable and beautifully appointed. It took a while to work out where everything was, but signage is excellent and staff extremely helpful. Dinner was an absolute treat, as was brunch. For those who preferred other fare, deck 13 was the answer to everything. The arts festival aboard was excellent and anyone who complained about boredom had only themselves to blame. The excursion to Pomene Island was interesting given its limited facilities. Transfer from the ship to tender boats and back again went smoothly and was actually an exciting part of the adventure. The beautiful lounges were aesthetically pleasing and to see the transparent grand piano and hear an accomplished pianist perform was a wow moment. Disembarkation was smooth. Kudos to the wonderful crewnod MSC Musica. It was a dream holiday and we will definitely be back. Read Less

11th Anniversary celebration we will not forget! As a first time cruiser I was very skeptical, specially due to some of the reviews from previous guests on the MSC Musica. The best advise I can give is for each person who wish to cruise is to have their own experience and not judge based on reviews of others. Sure, experiences are not all the same but we had a fabulous time! Everything was perfect I can't write this review without mentioning the amazing staff on board the ship. From the cleaners, to front desk to waiters - thank you! The lounges and public areas are beautiful and spacious. We enjoyed some time on the deck next to the pools but the jacuzzi's inside the Aurea spa was wonderful area to relax away from the crowd. Embarkation as well as disembarkation was quick and without any delays. The food quality was good and by not visiting the dining areas during peak hours assured that we never waited in any ques. Our visit to the Island was amazing, perfect weather and loads of fun! The entertainment at night was great fun. The theatre, casino and music on deck. We dreamt of doing a boat cruise for quit a long time already and when it eventually happened it was the best holiday experience ever! Everything fell in place as planned and it was fantastic! The ship is overwhelming beautiful and the service the best ever! Adrian Godoy served us with dinner and his service was excellent. The room service was the best and the person bent over backwards to accommodate us on the last day with our laundry, since I have waited too long to hand in the last bundle of laundry. Everything went smooth and we had no problems with anything at all. We can't wait to start planning our next trip with the MSC. We hope to visit Italy along with the MSC Bellissima. We did explored Durban the day before our departure and our daughter was fortunate enough to be chosen as a volunteer to touch a dolphin at UShaka World. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. We would just wanted to stay on the ship longer on the last day, but unfortunately our group had to leave very early that Friday according to the MSC's arrangements. The ship is beautiful inside and out and we could not stop taking pictures of all the different levels inside. We spent most of our time on deck 13 and went there early every morning to take beautiful pictures of our daughter and sunrise in the background. Thank you very much for a lifetime experience! We traveled from Mosselbay to Durban a view days before we got on to the ship. We stayed in Durban Spa and enjoyed the flea markets and restaurants alot. We also visited Ushaka Marine World wich is always a great experience! We booked easy onboarding tickets(I think that's what its called) so we boarded easy and fast. 10 minutes after boarding we where already eating our first delicious meal on board the Musica! Great way to start our trip...we where still docked at this stage. Our cabin was very nice and we had a balcony that really helped to get our clothes and towels dry during the trip after swimming . The crew was very friendly and helpful! I must say...one of the highlights of our trip was our Cruise Director Eric. He is a great entertainer and it will be difficult for me to not have him as the cruise director if I should go on another mcs ship. We traveled with our children...I think they went with...we never saw them! They enjoyed it so much and although both my children is shy they took part in all the teens activities. We booked a snorkeling excursion which was out of this world! I was flabbergasted the moment I stuck my head in the water.! Most beautiful sights I've ever seen... There is just one thing I think MSC should work on when passengers go on a shore excursion is to have at least water available as soon as the passengers get to shore..one of my friends was feeling very sick and when we asked for something to drink none of the MSC crewmembers wanted or could help us because the bar wasn't open although all the drinks was already there...we only got something to drink an hour and half later and we had to ask one of the locals to please give us water. He managed to convinced someone at a MSC bar in the little town we where driving through they gave us beer and none of us drinks alcohol...afterwards they gave us local water to drink. This part was not a nice experience. However in a whole our trip was amazing! We are already planning our next trip for next year! Thank you MSC! Read Less

I chose the cruise to see whether I have sea legs and I do. Everything about the ship was amazing from embarkation to disembarking. Msc is very organized and focuses on the passengers experience at all times. Msc caters for all ages iro activities on board the ship. Whether you eat at the restaurant or buffet you have many options to choose from. The only complaint that I have is that the halal option is very limited. It can be expanded. Also, the open buffet outside mealtimes should also cater for halal. Muslims have no option but to eat the pizzas. Contamination do take place with the cutting of the pizza and preparing the pizza. I found a peace of ham or pork on the cheese pizza. Luckily I saw it before I took a pizza. Please make more arrangements for muslim passengers. Restaurants should also have warm beverages like coffee and tea on the menu. Instead of the passenger having to go outside to order coffee. Read Less

We were gifted our cruise from our family in celebration of our 40th Anniversary in May '19. We arrived at Durban harbour around 11:30 and embarkation was surprisingly smooth! Only after we were on board, did we realise it was probably because we were some of the last to board ship. :) We had an internal cabin and I was a little worried about my hubby's reaction to constant airconditioning, but it did not affect him at all and was very comfortable. My back did not like the bed though.... it felt nice and firm, but I ended up with backache very soon after lying down... Otherwise, the cabin was super! Our cruise cards showed the wrong sitting for the dining room, which caused a long wait the first night - but was sorted. Dining and service was great. The casual 'cafe' dining for breakfasts and lunches offered more than anyone could ask. I only missed 'sweet stuff' (cakes/pastries) which were not often available.(I have a very sweet tooth!) The entertainment on board was top notch! The shows were excellent. The entertainment crew were fantastic and really knew how to get the crowd going. Loved the fact that one could amble round in the evenings and enjoy the genre of music that suited us.. As we live at the coast, going ashore to 'sun worship' was not our thing - so we didn't go to the island. Instead we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on board. We did however go onto Pumene - but unless you have plenty dollars to spend, I would rather stay on board... was hoping to see the town of Pumene, but on enquiry with one of the locals, we were told it was about 2 hours away? Disembarking was a pleasure and we found our baggage relatively easily. I was nearly wiped out in the hall though, when a badly placed suitcase tumbled off the top of one of the very heavily loaded trolleys and barely missed my foot! Can't wait to go again! Would love to do this with the whole family too... on our wish list now! Read Less

I would most certainly cruise again. The ports were very quick this time round cruising. My first experience was not too good but his time round, was much better. I travel with 2 kids and they throroughly enjoyed themselves. They would also most certainly cruise again. The kids were blown away with the amazing activities for them and entertainment. My previous experience was in the inside cabin and this time was the partial ocean view. Just a suggestion, that although the room was good, we did not really get any view due to the emergency boats being in the way. So, next time I would prefer a deck or 2 higher. Read Less

Firstly, let me start of by saying that a MSc cruise is something that everyone or every family should go on at least once in their life. As a first time cruiser I did not know what to expect. Let me just say "I had a Mind-blowing experience". Departure time was 15:00pm on Friday March 29th. We arrived at the N-Shed passenger terminal at approximately 8:00am to a small queue of people. On the side of the queue were 2 shops selling coffee, tea, cooldrinks, pizza, burgers, boerewors, rolls, chips, sweets, chocolates, etc. The crew opened the boarding process at 10:00am. Once the line started moving we were greeted by MSc baggage handlers that took our luggage & other MSc staff that told us what documents to have on hand. From here we want to the MSc checkin desk, and thereafter to the Immigration/Home affairs officials who checked & stamped our passports. Quick & effecient. Thereafter MSc photographers took photos of all guests. Passports were taken once on board so they could be presented to the Mozambiqcan Immigration officials. The first thing we did was go the the activities desk to get an armband for my son so he could be identified if he got lost. Thereafter we were directed to the buffet area to have lunch. After we were done with lunch we were free to explore the ship in all its glory. And my word this ship is "Glorious" and of gigantic proportions. The attention to detail is second to none, well designed in every aspect. Opulence, Luxuriousness, Magnificence & Grandeur is the only words I can use to describe the beauty of this work of Art! There is a whole floor of duty free shops selling everything from Liquor, clothing, toys, jewellery, watches & Msc memorabilia. We then proceeded to the top deck whilst we waited for our cabins to be prepared where there were 4 jacuzzis, a kids pool & 2 adult pools. The top floor boasted 4 bars situated on each side of the deck as well as the centre. There is also a whole day buffet inside the top deck. Pool loungers & tables on either side of the ship for guests to relax and take in the ocean breeze. And intercom announcement stated that all cabins were ready for occupation at approximately 13:15pm. Once we had found our cabin low & behold our luggage was outside our cabin doors. The room & the view is stunning for its size. Neat & fresh. Everything smelt clean, considering that people had just departed the very same morning prior to our occupation. It can't be an easy task maintaining a ship of that size that thoroughly with such efficiency. Every day you receive an itinerary that tells you stuff about the island, the ship, shows, entertainment & where its happening as well as specials available at the duty fee shops. Cruise cards which is your personal ship everything card was left on the beds. You use this card to do everything - buy stuff, excursions, bar purchases, etc. The cruise card also states which dining area you go to for supper as well as your table & seat number. You use the same table every evening & you have the same waiter. Prior to supper there was a compulsory drill where all passengers & crew were asked to go to the cabin and fetch our life jackets from the cabin & the proceed to the 7th floor which is deck 7. Just so you know the lifeboats are on deck 7 and no; the ship wasn't about to sink. It was a drill to show all passengers what to do in case of an emergency. Staff were well prepared and on point. We opted for the 18:00pm sitting with a different menu every evening. 3 course meal consisting of a starter, main & desert. Meals were well prepared by master chefs from around the world. Kids also have the option of choosing from their own menu or the main menu. Some always available option are also on the menu. Service is top notch, as waiters are constantly checking on you. You can purchase drinks or cooldrinks at the restaurant. The waiters simply charge it to your cruise card or use your vouchers. Whilst dining were we greeted by waiters selling bottles of alcohol like Jameson & Klipdrift which if purchased came with 3 cans of cooldrink. Being a brandy connoisseur I opted for a bottle of Klipdrift for $37,99 which at the current rate used by MSc for the cruise was R15,14 which worked out to R575. Which is not bad considering I was told that drinks are very expensive on board. And people saying that you must buy vouchers because it works out cheaper. Let me explain - MSc has a drinks voucher for R858 which gives you 18 drinks of your choice like cocktails, whiskey and coke, etc. For me, I drink brandy which made more sense to buy a bottle, actually I ended up buying 2 bottles which when compared to buying a drinks voucher was a waste of time for me. For other cocktail and Pina colada lovers the drinks voucher would have made sense because it works out to about R50 a drink. Which is what you would pay in a nightclub or bar. And the price I paid for the bottle is what you would pay for a bottle of liquor at a restaurant or nightclub. Saturday morning breakfast was the usual variety of bacon, toasts, salads, eggs, juices, fresh fruits & the list goes on & on! One thing food & the variety of it is never short. There's too much. The 13th floor were the top deck is has a buffet area that is operational almost the whole day until midnight. You can have burgers, pasta, hot dogs, pizza, carvery, etc. In fact I cant even remember all the food to mention because there was too many options. After breakfast we went down to visit the Portuguese Island. Once you receive your number you relax in the lounge or explore the shops whilst waiting for your number to be called. Once called you follow a queue to get onto the speedboat after being scanned off. Once on the island there were various market stalls selling everything from alcohol to gifts. The island is uninhabited and only has MSc lounges and buffet areas as well as bars. Food was already ready once we arrived with everything from burgers, chicken wings, cold meats, calamari, fresh fruit, etc. The water was so clear you could actually see the fish. The water was warm and calm. The way back was also efficient. You are scanned back in & given an ice cold hand towel, a relief after being in the blistering sun. You are not allowed to bring any wooden items on board due to contamination. The on board entertainment is great, MSc really has great staff from around the world and there is always something happening somewhere. We attended a theatre show as well as a comedy act. The night prior to disembarkation you are given labels to attach to your luggage. You also receive a disembarkation form that tells you based on the colour of your luggage label which lounge to wait in & what time to depart. The whole process for disembarkation is efficient. All I can say is that from the time I boarded the ship to the time I left "Everything works like Clockwork". Hats of to MSc, from the call centre staff to the crew both on board & off. You guys rock, every interaction with any of you was a pleasant experience. Staff were well dressed and extremely well mannered. Read Less

We had a great time, the theater entertainment was excellent. Eric Brauman & Tyrone were so professional & entertaining. The teams were excellent as well, kept us entertained & occupied. Loved our entire time on board. The food was above average. Budi & Justice, our waiters at L'oleandro, were excellent, attentive & always welcoming. Teatro de Salo was excellent! It was international entertainment at its best! The Mad Hatter for Wonderland & Riverdance, wow! The dancers, the guy on the wheel, the contortionist, Morgana the magician, the 2 muscle brothers & the 3 acrobatic brothers (i don't remember their names!) were out of this world! Jorjio was an excellent meringue teacher, so sexy! Jorge was so good at selling sangria, & he learnt the Afrikaans very well! Room service was excellent! Our cabin was well maintained at all times. We weren't able to go offshore though, due to inclement weather. Read Less

I went with 16 family members. The food, entertainment, crew was fantastic. The cabin and service were excellent. The only thing, which was not the Captains fault, was that we never got to both islands due to the heavy sea swells. But we were entertained well for those two days. The children were well looked after, 6 year old and four year old.And for the older children the disco and fun times were good. We found that the swimming pools and Jacuzzis were very relaxing. The waiters were very friendly and always ready to serve you. The photos that were taken were very professional and the quality excellent. The boughey was very good with a wide variety of foods. You could never get hungry on the ship as there was always something to eat, no matter what time of day or night. And as for the entertainment there were excel;lent shows and game shows. I highly recommend this cruise. This has been my 4th cruise with MSC and will be planning another one next year. Read Less

This was my 5th cruise with MSC. I was interested in visiting Portuguese Islands and Pomene on this cruise. So yes, it was disappointing that we could not tender to the two islands. However, the revised two programmes for these two days made up for not being able to get off the ship. Also, I appreciated that Captain Pinto chose to place the guests and crew's safety first. The overall experience of my cruise was awesome. The suite we stayed in was wonderful. We were wonderfully surprised to have guest gowns in the cabin. I always enjoy the fine dining. And as on previous MSC cruises, I was not disappointed. The food was wonderful and the staff was wonderfully efficient and friendly. THANK YOU Shasha and your team. The shows were extraordinary, so wonderful. I attended all 4 nights. However, I did not necessarily enjoy the comedy evening, I am not a fan of live comedy. But that is just me. I did not use all my pre-paid vouchers and it is great that I will be able to use the vouchers I have left on the next cruise I have booked. I enjoyed all the entertainment, from clubbing to after midnight to dancing on Deck 13 until late. Read Less
