Embarkation and disembarkation are always tedious. if there could be a way of speeding it up. The buffet was good with a wide variety of food. the bars were overwhelmed at times and it took long to get drinks. The ship is beautiful and looks like a hotel. You don't even feel like you are travelling on water. Facilities are exquisite and a lot of different personalities are catered for. The on-board entertainment was good from day 1, however entertainment on the last day was rather short lived. The cruise is advertised as a five day cruise whilst disembarkation is very early on the fifth day and you don't even spend a morning there. We requested for changes to the dinner sittings and separation of the beds online way before the cruise and these were not effected. we ended up being moved to another restaurant away from our family and friends in order to get the first sitting. when we requested for separation of beds for our boys all we got was separation of blankets!!! it seems like changes made on the website do not matter and thus it becomes a waste of time. The children did enjoy the teen club and made friends during the cruise. However, for parents travelling with children make it automatic that the children's cards are blocked for transacting unless authorization is given by parents instead of the current scenario where cards are open until blocked. We found ourselves with a bill of US$290 for video games and movies that we did not authorize only to learn that the kids cards can be blocked after the bill. This is probably a way for MSC to make money but it really puts clients in financial problems. I read as much as I could from the website prior to the cruise but somehow missed the bit about blocking kids cards, if that could be emphasized to parents unless MSC thrives on it which is kind of doing business in bad faith. Pomene Island is beautiful but sadly there was no beach party like we experienced on the Portuguese island in 2015. i would go again on the cruise but on a different route. Now looking at doing Mauritius funds permitting. Read Less

It was a launch of the musica and msc invited us. The embarkation process was very long and tedious. So to be honest that was the down fall as we had to wait for hours on hours before we could be onboard. which meant we missed some time and were tired when boarding. However when we were on board it was quicker and the buffet lunch was ready however that also was limited the menu on offer was not that great. I have been on a cruise before that i paid for on the sinfonia and the menu was great we were spoilt for choice so i don't know what to tell my clients if that was because we were not fully paying customers or what. The dinner menu was great also the service was limited. But the entertainment was great over all the theme of the ship is music and that is true. Read Less

The main reason for our cruise was to explore the new ship, as we traveled on the SINFONIA several times, including Two South and Two North Bound Cruises. After this local cruise we still prefer the Grand Voyages of 24 days, to or from Italy, As this was the first cruise of 2018/2019 season in South Africa we were very disappointed in some areas. The ship itself is much bigger and more spacious than the SINFONIA with a 5 star rating. Although we felt with the size of the ship and the capacity of passengers that the cruise was Overcrowded, especially during meal times, breakfast, lunch and dinner in the open buffet area. There were always long ques waiting to get to the food stations. This caused that people try to jump the ques and try to squeeze in, and that caused unhappiness among most of the passengers!!!!!!. Therefore the rating on the dining was 3, although the food was a 4 rating. Shore Excursions: Cant t say much as the excursions to the Portuguese Islands were cancelled due to strikes on the island.
