Being a long time cruiser, and a gold msc Voyager club member, I know the exceptional service. But on this last cruise it was the most disappointing experience iv ever had. From the staff to the management, service just deteriorated terribly. It was as we got the ticket for free and it was a burden to them to provide any customcare. And as for the msc voyage club membership, almost all benefits has to be asked for and even then I didn't get most of them. Theres always some excuse that comes up. Cabin was ok but the cleanliness was sadly not a priority the the staff. We had to do most of the cleaning ourselves. To add the cherry on top, the disembarkation was a nightmare to say the least. Everything was chaos. And yes our luggage was damaged again. The miss handling on the bags are a huge problem, as Iv had a 3 bags damaged beyond use , only to not find no staff who could help. The staff in the front said the only do embarkation. Read Less

We chose this cruise as siblings to spend some time with my eldest sister who has cancer. It was a nightmare though because elevators is always busy and takes too much time to get to whatever floor you'd like to be. There should be a elevator for people with special needs. The food wasn't great in fact it was worst than hostel food, exept for dining room on deck 6 which had great service and food. The pizza on deck13 was floppy sheets of dough with veggies or leftover chicken curry. Cocktails on the cruis is overly sweet, in other words they serve you sugarwater. Please have a South African crew for South African cruises who can understand you. Cleaning services for Room 9118 was fantastic, couldnt fault anything. The cruise felt like I just stepped into a busy African marketplace with vendors trying to sell a million stuff to me all the time. Eric Eric Eric, if it wasnt for your entertainment skills and fantastic dance crew, I would've thrown myself overboard to end it all. No really guys your ship was overcrowded with the most unmannered guests and I say again... This was my 1st and last cruise ever. Msc cruises, thx for wasting my hard earned money and giving me the worst holiday I've ever had. Read Less

The cruise was over populated with passengers. No dining facilities available at breakfast & lunch. By the time you waited for a seat the buffet was closed. At excursions we were treated as if we were in a government facility where we need to stand in long lines. The braai on the Island did not have any proper meat, as per braai. I've been on four cruise thus far and this was the worst. No body was asked to put on life jackets from the ship to the island. South African staff working on the ship were quiet rude. The were hardly any crew members available for assistance. No real live entertainment on Deck as they usually do. " The Spice of the cruise has died off" I'm very disappointed as I always enjoyed and anticipated the cruise yearly. I would appreciate it if I heard some feedback from you soon. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it left from Durban, South Africa which allowed us to tick off a stay at Kruger National Park as well as a visit to Petra in Jordan. The cruise embarkation in Durban would have to have been the longest, most shambolic and most disorganised we have EVER experienced. The staff, apparently (or so we were told) were new. All we can say is that they hadn't been trained properly (if at all) or they were just inept. They were unfriendly, even to the point of being surly, they had NO idea what they were doing and didn't, really, even seem to care. The LIFE BOAT drill was a joke apart from showing the passengers how to put on their life vests the rest was a garbled, incomprehensible mess, delivered over the loudspeakers (and that's an overstatement, you could hardly hear them) At dinner the waiters were inefficient and had no idea how to serve. Bread was offered from a basket, and bad luck if you were the last served, you got whatever was left. White wine was just left on the table - you had to ask for an ice bucket. Water - you had to buy a bottle or go without, tea or coffee - again you had to buy it or go without. The food was poorly presented and poorly cooked - the choice was limited. The Maitre D was a rude and arrogant man who stood around doing nothing. Tender, at, mercifully the one port, was horrendous - the ship docked at 8.00am, we got off at 12.30pm. Laundry - in by 10.00am, promised for a return by 5.00pm the next day - more likely by 5.00pm 4 days later (and then, only after repeated complaints, to out cabin steward) The lecturers, consisted of just TWO people - a charming lady who talked about the various ports and a gentleman who talked about boats, ships etc. - he was very interesting but he had all the delivery skills of a wet lettuce. The ENTERTAINMENT in the theatre was good - although a lack of LIVE music or stage sets was rather disappointing as was the brevity around 30 minutes. The Cruise Director insisted on introducing each show in about 5 languages - she droned on and on and on The Captain - was a ghost, saw him once. The ship in general, was reasonable, although the pools were rather limited and there was no poolside dining options as with other ships. An oddity was that on the quite wide promenade deck - NOT one chair was to be seen, not one. The one good thing was their alcohol prices - the cheapest we've ever experienced. OMG - for me to EVER travel on MSC again - they'd have to be dirt cheap or be taken over by PRINCESS CRUISES. Read Less

This cruise has always been on my bucket list, but I think my expectations was too high for what they could give. I work in a 5 star lodge and is very focused on service and for that reason I am also writing this review. The cabin was very nice. But dining was horrible you go on a cruise to spend time with your partner but find out that you have to sit with complete strangers and there is no privacy. The food was terrible quality. Prepare to stand in lines for 1.5 - 2 hours a day when you want to go on excursions even when you want to get back on the boat. The islands you go on is beautiful and the buffet lunch Msc gives on them was really nice. The boat is unfortunately way overcrowded and you feel like just a number. It is definitely not a 4 night 5 day cruise the 5th day you have to be off the boat by 7 in the morning. The worst thing is you save up to do as many things as you can when on the boat, and I booked myself a acupuncture treatment the one day, where the "spa doctor" actually fell asleep while I am getting my treatment and then still charge you 65$ I actually can still not believe it!! The normal spa treatments with the therapists was excellent they were really good. I would honestly not recommend this cruise to anyone that want to relax or for a romantic getaway. It was nice to tick that I have been on a cruise off my bucket list, but unfortunately that is where it ends Read Less

I went for the Afrikaans Sokkie and it was my birthday. MSC Musica. I did state when I made a booking that it was my birthday. When I did my first cruise 17 years ago also on my birthday, I was supprised with a birthday cake! Now they charge you for it. There was always photographers taking ransom photos during your cruise, now you have to go to them and it is all unnatural studio photos at USD12 per photo!! Previously You bought a beverage package for the duration of your cruise which included all coldrinks, coffee, tea, ice-cream etc, now you can buy a package that has a maximum of 18 drinks, whether it is alcohol or not for R850 depending on the exchabge rate. And they do not tell you beforehand that it is limited to a specific amount (usd) per drink!! Everything has become so commercialized and greedy, that it does not seem to be worth the almost R5000 per day that you spent. Read Less

MSC Musica was highly recommended, but did not meet the standard. Cabin was dirty, food mediocre and the stuff not really friendly. The only thing that was good was the theater. The shows where brilliant. Otherwise overall it was a waste of money. I am bitter. I paid R12 600.00 but what I got was not worth that at all. I tried to upgrade but the room but the receptionist said that was not possible. I complained about the dirt but nothing was done. I had a balcony cabin but the balcony was dirty for the duration of my our stay. The last guest was a smoker and left a glass with cigarette stubs by the balcony and that glass was there for the duration of the stay. I got tickets for my brother and his wife as a wedding gift and they had a love time, so I was expecting the same only to get the horrendous sevice I got. I am vegan and there was no food. I tried to customize the vegetarian food but there was very limited options. This was a terrible cruise. I will never recommend it to my friends and family. The service is just not consistent. My brother got a great service and I got a bad service for more or less the same price. I am very disappointed and I feel cheated. Read Less

These people's embarkation and disembarkation process is NIGHTMARE. By the time you get on the ship you are dehydrated, exhausted, confused and disoriented and you 're bombarded by people selling packages. Non stop and just overehelming. When you get on you have to wait til 1.30pm for your room and up to 7pm for your bag. Then when you get off the ship they line your bags up just after you walk off the ship. So they are not doing you any favours by taking your bag the night before. Tip: take your own bags. On top of this we were first group to be told to get off and last ones to get our bags. And they tell us our tags may have fallen off (us and 50 others). Our tags were very much still on the bags when they were eventually offloaded. They are just incompetent. Food at the buffet was never enough. Tip: if you're not doing the dining then go to buffet early. We had one decent meal on the trip which was on the first night. Water is not complementary as they make you believe. No water in room. You are assigned to eat in the dining area where they serve you food and you pay for drinks. At the buffet they have 2 dispensers which people flog. TWO dispensers on the ship for 2500 guests. wow. By the way they close the dispensers at 10pm. So pay for a drink or die... they charge $20 for a photo on board. I wasn't going to pay that for a photo of me hot and sweaty after 3 hours in their boarding queues. Cabin was spacious. We had a balcony view which was wonderful. Shower had great pressure. Tip: No lotion or conditioner or vanity kit provided in room. Excursions off shore were worth visiting but queues to get back on board were crazy. Also the food gets finished really fast there too. And noone cares if you ate or not. Tip: go early. Leave early. Tip: take rands for the islands. The souvenirs are cheap and nice. Tip: Eat on time. The entertainment staff were AMAZING and so good. Really that was 10 out of 10. The other staff probably need to be treates better so they can be nicer to people. I witnessed many rude interactions where thy ignored a guest in need and I stepped in to help them instead. Especially at the buffet area. We had a waiter at our dining table who was very unfriendly. I think his name was Wilfred from St Vincent. Pools very overcrowded and smell so bad. They lock the bar fridge the day before you leave. This didnt make sense to me at all. It was the only day we didnt go offshore so people were around in their rooms, hot, thirsty, so why lock the bar fridge? Don't they want to make money. Definitely buy drink vouchers. Even if you dont buy it before u board, you can buy it on the ship. Vouchers save you paying 15% tip every time you order a drink. Read Less

The standards of the MSC cruises have dropped to a terrible new low. My wife and I cruised on the Opera to Mauritius in 2014 and that cruise was delightful. However this cruise was horrible: - Standard of the food has dropped both in buffet and restaurant. - We asked for a first dinner sitting and got a second despite having a 2 year old who went to bed hungry on Friday night due to the pathetically slow service by waiters. - The waiters are rude and look like they're doing you a favor rather than their jobs. - The is no guidance from MSC regarding the procedures such as if you booked an excursion where to go etc perhaps they expect their guests to know all of this. - The buffet dining area should be bigger as people tend to push and cut ques even seating space is not enough. - I hope other cruise liners come to South Africa to give MSC some competition to get it back to it's former glory. From the start of booking my cruise I have had endless problems, The contact Centre was extremely incompetent, they have changed my dinner seating, mixed my cabins up cost me additional money as when I booked the prices were lower. On arrival my cabin was dirty, I had to get new sheets and the floors vacuumed, Workers rude to us on the ship when we tried to make our baby food hot (we carried our own sealed food), we were told to go away. On the first night, my wife waited for 45 minutes for the food to be made hot. Common areas were stinky and not cleaned thoroughly (The deck on some days smelled like sewerage). No baby facility as requested for my room (e.g. Cot) I had called several times requesting this. Entertainment very poor compared to previous trips, shows were not even full. Food was excellent, improvement since my last cruise. Well done. Waiters were good, children enjoyed the kids entertainment. . Excellent service from Puttu, SuperJana (Dinner)and BanBang(Cabin). . The service from the buffet staff was unbelievable, they refused to assist with baby chairs and any assistance in cleaning up of the tables. We cleaned up and had to sort our tables out. Completely opposite to the dinner. Out of my 3 experiences this was my worst. I don't think I will be booking a cruise with MSC after this experience Read Less

We had quite high expectations for our Christmas Cruise. I have been on a MSC Cruise many years ago and was very excited to take my husband and kids. It was a very stressful experience for us a family. Our expectation was that it was going to luxurious, stress-free and relaxing. 1. If you are prepared to queue for absolutely everything (public bathrooms, embarkation (at Maputo, Portuguese Islands, Pomene), disembarkation (at Maputo, Portuguese Islands, Pomene), queue for breakfast, lunch and dinner) then this is the cruise for you. 2. Horrible coffee (when we stopped in Maputo, we immediately started searching for a convenience store to buy coffee sachets). 3. The entertainment for the kids was bad - my 11 year old son only had the option to go the Mini Club (age 3-6) and listen to puppet shows as the Junior Club (7-11) was closed most of the time. 4. Waiters supplied ashtrays to guests in the non-smoking areas. It was our choice to sit in the non smoking area (with kids) and there was just cigarette smoke everywhere. Very disappointing and will definitely not be cruising again soon. Read Less

Staff were very rude, toilets were disgusting and dirty. The upper deck smelt like sewage. When I asked the staff what the reason was for the smell I was asked "does it smell nice?" We received a drink and the glass had mould in it when I asked for another drink the barmen just stared at me. We were told it was 2 days on the island but it was only 1. There was no horn blowing or set off party. I would not recommend this cruise to anyone. Put it this way I wouldn't even go again if it was free. We spoke to many other people on the cruise who had been on a number of cruises before this (8 to be exact) and they said this was the worst they had been on. MSC should be ashamed of themselves as this cost our family a huge amount of money amd it was a waste. Read Less

We have been cruising with msc for many years, actually since 2009. This specific cruise was the first of three back-to-back cruises, as we only disenbarked on the 19th of december 2018. This cruise was the most exhausting experience ever. Embarkation took 3 hours 45 minutes. Once we passed customs, the ship served warm juices on the side, what a welcoming drink, after all the time in the shed to get through customs. Then another queue to collect vouchers. More qeues to activate the cabin account. The ship is beautiful, the staff tried to be helpful, but some of the guests behaved like barbaric pirates and this resulted in everything being hectic. The cabin was neat & clean, yet as a black voyager guest, apparently the only one on the ship, i did not feel welcome at all, i became my duty to inform the voyager desk, who was rarely available, that my cruise card need to be updated. We eventually, four days later started to receive the voyager welcome drink and platter in the cabin. After the 3rd cruise embarcation was completed on the 16th of december, i was horrifically embarressed by the hotel staff, after confirming the night before, that the seating arrangements for the second seating for the final cruise will remain the same. This was confirmed and after being seated, as arranged, we were moved around like chess pieces. I have never been this embarresed on any cruise, for that metter, not ever in even the average african restaurant. I then wrote a note to the customer service desk, indicating the situation and stated that i am not happy with the situation and the treatment from staff. The customer relations manager, chanel, the f&b manager, the spa manager, the casino maneger and other staff had a meeting and i was requested to have a meeting with them. Several issues were recitfied and we were treated with dignity and sincerely appologised to for the inconvenience and lack of acknowledgement. The main aim for this cruise, was to scatter the ashes of my partner, whom cruised with me since 2009, every single cruise, last in december 2016. We had booked a cruise for december 2017, but due to jason's medical state, he was not able to partake and we decided to cancel. Jason passed on 20 may 2018, and his wish was to scatter his ashes during a cruise. I've made all the arrangements, took all possible actions into consideration, arranged for all the documentation, made the relevant arrangement on the ship, to ensure everything is done legally and without consequinces, but eventually cancelled the request, as this was suppose to be a memorable experience, and not coupled to horrific memories. Therefor jason is back at home. I will cruise again, it's the most relaxing and practical holiday for me, as im a event planner, the head chef of my company and the owner of a venue in gauteng. I've refered hundreds of my clients and guests to msc, always tell people of this super experience, the most awesome service and amazing shows. To cruise is the only holiday for me, as it was for jason. Therefor i will not consider the last cruise i took as an indication of cruising experience, as there is so much more, i have experienced it in over 15 cruises since 2009. The portuguese islands and pomene was done and developed in great taste, well arranged and really confortable settings, but not really africa friendly, as the guests have proofed to other more sifisticated guests, that manners and etiquete lacks and can create chaos even in the best of planned events. Thank you again for a great experience. Read Less

However unbeknown to us the Op die Water took over there was no entertainment at all in evenings for the English and we were ready to get dressed up every night booked the early dinner so we could go to all the shows etc. so disappointing and I had encouraged all the girls to do the cruise and it was nothing like we were expecting. The service and food was fantastic but sadly not worth all the money we had saved without the entertainment We May as well have booked into a hotel Even the music on the deck was in Afrikaans we had to ask them to please play some English music which did but not for long. Unfortunately we weren’t able to go the island due to big swells. I flew in from the UK and two other girls flew in from Zimbabwe one from Pretoria and the other from Scottburgh. Read Less

I've been on the cruise in 2011, which was really good. I thought I will do it again, but was highly disappointed. The no care attitude of the crew, their rudeness, arrogance and incompetency made me to regret that I've ever booked the cruise in the first place. Herewith some of the incidents: a. When I received my confirmation booking, I saw that we were booked for the second dinner seating, despite having indicated that I want the first dinner seating. I've send an e-mail to this extend and have received an e-mail back to confirm that the seating was changed to the first seating. On arrival on the ship, when I was issued with my cruise card, it reflected second dinner seating. I brought this to the attention of the person who issued the card and I have even shown him the e-mail that I received in question. The person just shrugged me off, visibly irritated with me and told me that I need to discuss the matter with the restaurant manager. That was completely unacceptable and I do object to how I was treated. Fortunately, the restaurant manager assisted me after explaining my situation to him. b. When I arrived on the ship, I completed the excursion form and placed it on the box at the excursion office. (I must add that, at that time, no one was manning the excursion desk, which in itself is unacceptable, in particular if one has questions). I later on went to the desk to to confirm if my form has been received and that I have some questions to ask. At first, the lady behind the desk told me that they have not received anything. I was astounded by this fact and it was only when another person came to the desk that it was confirmed that they have indeed received my form. The question that I've asked them about the excursion to the Inhaca mainland, could not be answered satisfactorily. (I've asked them who will meet us at the mainland). c. The safety drill was a washed down affair compared to my 2011 cruise. The crew never explained how the rescue boats will be used and how the passengers should enter these. Other first time passengers thought that they must jump into the sea. This clearly speaks of an unwillingness to do the proper and right thing by the crew. Their incompetency was astounding. d. Despite having received Number 2 Excursion tickets for the boats to take us to the beaches (both at Portuguese Island and Pomene), the crew did a bad job in controlling the passengers that were to embark. Instead of having seperate ques for the different embarking tickets, there was only one que. The result that was that all ticket holders stood in the que, some of them blocking the access due to the fact that they tried to get ahead. The crew did a dismal job of ensuring that this does not happen and clearly speaks of incompetency. e. On the launch boats itself, no instruction was given from a safety perspective. Once arrived at the Portuguese Island and Pomene, no indication/marking/sign indicated to where one needs to report on the beach for the chosen excursion. We had to stand in a que to wait to speak to an arrogant crew member at the desk just to be told to wait - "they will call us" - although the time for the excursion was written on the excursion ticket. No one cared that we were waiting much longer than indicated. The MSC staff left it to the us (the passengers) to ask the locals if they are the ones for a particular excursion. At Pomene, after we all climbed in one of the MSC rubber ducks, the same incompetent and arrogant MSC cruise came to us and told us that the passengers who booked the estuary excursion need to get of the boat, since there was a mixed up. This is totally unacceptable and speaks of incompetency, the likes of which I have never encountered before. f. When leaving the Pomene beach to go back to the ship, a long que was forming. To my astonishment, passengers were once again jumping the que and the crew did nothing to stop them. This again speaks of poor management and don't care attitude from the crew. Control should have been done more effectively (ie by putting que ropes up and guiding the passengers to que within the ropes and/or issueing them with numbered tickets). At the point of boat embarkation, the first crew member told us to go through. As we moved towards the launch boat, another crew member told us to stop (apparently the boat was full) and showed us to the waiting area. The first crew member then came running from the back and told us not to sit, telling us that we are confusing the set up. I angrily responded that the crew members need to make up their minds, and that they are buggering us around. The captain himself them told me that they are here to do their jobs. I told him I'm not here to be messed around by an incompetent and arrogant crew. g. The reason for the long que at Pomeno was that one of the launch boats had mechanical problems and there was only three (instead of four) in use to ferry the passengers. Given a huge company like MSC, the fact that one of the launch boats were out of commission is unacceptable and the rubber ducks should have been used to fill in for the the launch boat. This again speaks of an unwillingness of the crew to care for the passengers and is evident of a lack of proper planning and organising. h. I went to the cruise desk with my wife to find out about the 2020 cruise to Mauritius. The lady behind the desk was very unhelpful and rude. She continued to type on her computer and did not even bother to stand up and look one in the face. She rudely told us to go to the website. i. Another complain was that they left only one suitcase tag in our cabin for disembarkation. (With two people in the cabin, I don't know who decided that only one by suitcase tag will suffice). I phoned reception and they told me that I need to go to the desk to collect another tag. This is totally absurd - at that point the que at Reception was very long (mainly due to people wanting to settle their accounts). I had to stand in the que for more than 30 minutes just to get another tag. This is just another example of the "Don't care attitude of the crew and their inability to proper plan and organize. It would have been simple to put a desk to one side with the different tags at a point where passengers could collect them from. j. When visiting one of the public toilets, there were no toilet rolls. This just proofs that the crew does not care. k. Lastly, I was approached by one of the crew members that offered me vouchers for drinks, etc. The price given to me was $50 for 18 tickets. Never was it said that a service fee of $7.50 will be added. I only realized this when I received my account. This is of very poor taste form MSC. They should have alerted passengers to this charge at the initial stage. Also, the fact that I was charged twice with $1.50 for Unicef donation, is a slap in my face and speaks of the arrogance of MSC. Surely, they should have asked my permission first Read Less

It was our first cruise, not only for us as a couple, but for us as a family. Unfortunately, the first, and the last... I will start with the good first... The servers in the Galeone Dining facility was fabulous! Always had a smile and a joke for the kids, probably the highlight of our trip. We visited the kiddies entertainment/play areas. At first we were told that we would have to separate our children as they are 5 and almost 3 (1 week away). After much deliberation we were then told that they were closing at 15h30 and had to leave. The next day we went back and were told that it was time for parents to stay with the kids - whats the use? We were also refused access at the older facility - ages being 7 and up... Not once did our kids leave our side, but it was probably for the best. My 5 year old and I also had terrible motion sickness on the friday and went past the medical centre on the saturday morning, only to be told that it was $95 consultation excluding the injections before they even looked at us - per person! That might fly for overseas travelers but for South Africans thats just ridiculous. And just fyi, the motion sickness bags that you provided, was all finished and no where to be found by the Saturday morning. We only got on the ship on Friday? As for the embarkation, we stood in the queue for almost 3 hours - have you tried to keep children standing quietly for 3 hours? Some people with kids were called forward, whilst others (without children and not elderly) just didnt bother to stand in the last queue - SHOCKING. The staff just let them walk by, and there we stood, like sheep, trying to keep tired, cold, hungry children at bay.... All in all I must say this was probably once of the worst experiences I have ever gone through with my family, and now that its done, can tell you we will never do it again. Bet you this review wont see the light of day or even get a response! Read Less

This was the second cruise on the MSC Sinfonia. The first cruise was amazing but this one was terrible. Book a cruise for my family. When i get on board i see there is a company function happening on board. That was not the problem. Almost the entire cruise there was only afrikaans music playing. I think that was unacceptable. Also staff on the ship where unhelpful and service at restaurants was average. Food was good at the sit down restaurants for dinner but other meals where average. I must commend the process when going ashore, very efficient. Entertainment should be for everyone not the majority From the first cruise to now big difference. Advise to Travellers : Ask before booking if there are any functions happening on the Ship. I always book the Balcony Suite, much larger rooms and you don't feel the rough sea's as bad as the lower rooms(my opinion). Read Less

For a vacation. We were very disappointed with this cruise, we have saved for a year to go on this cruise, and did not even get to go on the Island. My personal opinion, and that of many of the passengers on the same cruise that we were on, feel that we should at least be compensated in some way or the other. The food is actually very average, and the drinks are very expensive. The staff were quite friendly though. I will not recommend anybody to go on a cruise, and spend that lot of money, without any guarantees, that they would go on the island. MSC saved a lot of money, by not taking the passengers on the island, so it is only fare that MSC compensate the passengers. i will not even think about booking another trip, as i feel it is a totally waste of money. Totally disappointed. Read Less

We purchased this cruise as we wanted an add on to the end of our South African Safari. As the cruise was only 4 nights we booked a suite with drinks package and priority boarding included. So on arrival we expected to see a separate line for Priority boarding but nothing until we get inside the terminal where we ask a MSC rep who tells us to go into the line that stated easy on or something to those lines. here we queued and once we reached the front we were told sorry not this line and told to re-join the original line we were in which had we stayed in we would of been on board by now. so we had the embarrassment of walking back past everyone behind us due to their incompetence. Once on board we think ok mistakes happen lets go and get a drink.. No this is not possible as evidently Alcohol is not permitted until after we sail. how ridiculous. So we decide to investigate the ship and find there is an Irish Bar, but this is the Irish bar in the world that does NOT sell Guinness. But the bonus for the wife it does sell Strongbow. But hey presto this is a premium drink (evidently) and not included in the drinks package. Next we hear my wife's name called out over tannoy system requesting her to go to guest relations, here they explain that as she is English she will require a visa to get off ship at the 2 destinations we are travelling to, and request her passport, I ask do you not require mine then ????? oh yes we will need that as well, they state that the passports will be delivered direct to our room. We go to our suite expecting for great things and to be honest the room was not bad but to me only on par with a balcony room on most other ships, I had forgotten my socket adaptor so popped to guest relations, hey presto sorry no adaptors available told to go to shop. $50 later I had the only available adaptor type they sold. So let's get the internet package sorted, I purchase the top package available to use on 4 appliances. and off we go to muster station for the safety drill. all of which was very well done in a short time. Decide to just have Buffet for dinner tonight which was just very basic and very little choice. So after dinner we decide to go to the Irish pub which overall had good service and entertainment, but one side of this bar is acceptable for smoking and the whole place stinks and makes your eyes sore, surely a fire risk at sea waiting to happen. also smoking allowed down one side of main prom deck. if we had known this beforehand we would never of booked this cruise. Next morning I order 2 eggs over easy from the buffet, well 2 minutes later these 2 eggs turned up that I could of put on the soles of my shoes they were so hard. I then check my internet which was very slow and sometimes took forever to log on. I then find that despite me switching my Wi-Fi off the last time I used it I was now down to very little allowance left, on checking it states I was last on air for over 2.5 hours so I point this out to guest relations who say I need to purchase another package, thanks for nothing there then. So now decide to disembark ship via tender so get in a very long queue for over 30 minutes and when we reach the exit we are both told to go to guest relations as we need visa's. off we trot and are told it's $50 per person to go to a deserted island we ask about the following day and are told it's the same to visit Pomne. We tell them not to bother absolute rip off. so spent the day on board relaxing. that evening there is an issue with the ship and its decided to cancel the next destination and we are all issued a $20 refund whoopee a free game of bingo each very generous. In general we were very disappointed in the attitude of the staff they need sending to a new charm school as the one they are using is not working. will we be using MSC again not unless they change their smoking policy and staff training is improved dramatically. it was recommended by a friend and we had a worst experience and MSC staff were not very helpful since they just wanted us to pay more money regardless of our traumatic experience. We tried to explain that we had previously bought packages for drinks and water and have been lost in our bag. we requested for the staff to check our expenditure in their system but to no avail. Instead we paid for yet another water package. we were played a trick to assume that our matter will be dealt with by MSC only to suffer on board. we wanted to report the matter to the police and also inform our Embassy before we could sail. we also had a terrible experience when we reached Durban from Maputo since we could not disembark into South Africa since we didn't have passports. we incurred lots of additional expenses and MSC was not in any to assist instead they suggested that we go on yet another cruise for the weekend which was going to be paid for by ourselves. I suspected that we were given such negative treated just because of the colour of skin with my wife as black people from Botswana. Read Less

We decide to take a cruise for a different holiday, but what a terrible disappointment, the food for breakfast and lunch was almost the same every day for 12 continuous days, surely in a five star hotel this money that we paid could be better spend, with a choice of food and time to do things on your own. The ship was very overcrowded as there was not enough place on the loungers at the pool and also when something was presented at the pool. The excursions was a disaster , the day we went to Ile Aux Cherfs our bus arrived two hours late and we only arrived there nearly at eleven, the food was nice on this excursion, yet we have to find a place to relax somewhere else as there was no chairs availabe on the beach as it was occupied already. We also have to leave at 3 already as the tour guides want to nock off at 4 o'clock. the second excursion to the seven couloured earth and beach was also a disappointment as all stalls were closed due to a public holiday. Our last excursion to Flic en Flic was a total disaster as we was there with a bus instead of a catamaran or sail boat thebus stop inbetwwen the street ond we were off loaded on a beach we all the locals is on tents on the beach -- we notice it was Flic en Flac two? I suppose it should have been Flic en Flac 1 , the beach was not very clean. Never the les the shows on the boat was done by excellent peformers and dances. The embarkation and debarkation was long rows and very disorganized. Read Less
