1st Time Cruiser Horror

Review for a Africa Cruise on MSC Sinfonia

I was so excited to go on my first ever cruise. I have heard such great things about MSC, only to find my experience totally opposite from great. The staff were horribly rude all the time. Waiters complaining in the restaurant and buffet areas about their working hours and the fact that passengers don't tip them. Our food was served late at sit down dinners. For example our table 586 were ...

Best experience ever

I have always been interested in taking a vacation on a cruise. The MSC cruise seemed ideal, and I was right. The embarkation/ disembarkation process is tremendously quick and smooth. I loved our balcony cabin, just being able to look at the precious sunrise and sunsets from my room and the smell of the ocean. Myself and my partner were quite fortunate to see the dolphins swim in pairs when we ...

Not the best holiday experience

The first on the boat was absolutely fantastic and we told our family and friends to join on the second cruise. Only to experience that the quality has dropped since our first experience. I would recommend it again unless they do a thorough quality upgrade overall. We couldn't go to the Pomene Island and were credited to a rediculous 20 dollars. Does that mean the it will cost me 20dollars ...

BED BUGS and bad embarkation ruined my experience!!!

We celebrated my brother-in-law's 50th. It was a family occasion. It was my first cruise and yes on my vision board. The overall experience was a good first. Albeit, the experience was shattered when I woke up one morning with bed bugs crawling over me. On day two, I got a rash, and thought it was a heat rash. On the second last day, it had spread and I was feeling miserable, and stayed in the ...

Total Disappointment

The ship arrived late due to weather conditions this resulted in a change in itinerary however this was done to benefit MSC and not its passengers as the one destination that the majority wanted to see being Pemene was cut out and we merely parked off Portuguese Island for two days. The cabin was poorly prepared and had two broken door hinges, exposed wiring on a fluorescent tube in the ...

This was the first time I opted to cruise with my family. We were extremely excited and thought that this trip was a going to be like the stuff you see on television. We loved the New Year celebration with everyone and enjoyed the travel. However I was very disappointed mostly with the entertainment and food. Being an offshore cruise, the entertainment was very South African-ish with medicore ...

When we traveled with MSC in 2006 we already realized they are not at par with other international cruise lines, but we wanted to treat my mother with a cruise for her 80th birthday and booked a 5 night cruise with them. MSC deteriorated a lot since then and the embarkation and disembarkation was a nightmare for my elderly (80 and 85) parents. MSC seems unable to handle the crowd and there were no ...

Check in was drawn out - Computers kept going offline and dragging out the already drawn out process. Food was utterly AWEFUL (vastly different from when we went in 2013), really - a HUGE disappointment! There was only ONE late night food option: (pizza - what there WAS of it) and a la carte dining was totally pathetic. The "beverage books" that we bought were a joke! You had to purchase a ...

Long embarkation and missing beach day

Due to it being the first trip of the South African season, it was really crowded and the embarkation was a nightmare. We were sent a message not to arrive before 10:30 due to the disembarkation. We arrived at 10:30 on the dot to long queues. We then waited. And waited. Eventually around 12:30, we were allowed into the terminal out of the hot sun and then queued some more. There were many ...

The reason for taking this cruise was to surprise my wife for our 10th year wedding anniversary, I planned and saved for a while to achieve this as it was allot of money to book this cruise as well as the excursion packages. I also bought a "Bon Voyage Deluxe Package" which included "One bottle of sparkling wine Pongratz Cap Classique, two MSC flutes (souvenir to take home) and tray of ...
