I decided to book the Greek Mystique cruise as my wife has had surgery recently and really needed to recuperate and recover. After check in at Gatwick we didn't see our luggage again until delivered to our cabin I can not tell you how amazing that was not to have to face the hustle and bustle of the airport baggage carousels! I rater enjoyed the main resturaunt as they operate an open seating dining plan so we were able to dine with new people every evening, which when we usually cruise on Seabourn and Azamara we have a fixed table and dining companions for the duration of the cruise -so Marella has hit on a good idea on the occasions where one may be sitted on a dining table with 'cruise snobs'.Which in the past we have had to endure! We are retired although a young 59 and 61, we tend to book 4 cruises per year one for each season. We have one Seabourn and one Azamrara then 2 cheaper options which this year is Marella and Cruise & Maritime to try the other end of the market. The ship Celebration was old as described on CC.reviews, but it was perfectly clean and comfortable. We prefer to have waiter service at meals as my wife isn't always able to stand and queue for periods of time and apart from the very last morning when there was literally not a seat to be had this worked perfectly for us. Our cabin steward was superb so although tips are included we left him cash in an envelope cabin was cleaned and towels replenished twice daily. My wife purchased two Radley handbags which she said were great value. we are not drinkers so didn't opt for the AI Drinks package(due to my wife's medication). We did take excursions which although costly were not exhorbitant but much more importantly safe for my wife's comfort. We ate in Mistrals which was a delight -highly recommended especially drunken prawns delicious! The Ports of call were delightful especially KOTORin Mo ntenegro and sailing out of Dubrovnik at night ! STUNNING. keeping the best till last- just has to be the entertainment. THE showteam were leaving and a new team and Cruise Director was starting the week after we disembarked. They were amazing and the show Africa was wonderful. We really thought it couldn't get any better until Monday when the Guest Act came on to do his show. His name was Christopher Gee and he was superb, my wife laughed so much it was sheer joy to behold. And his comedy impressions were stunning-the thing we could't work out was how can every voice he did be so accurate and yet he even manages to look like each person he takes on. His Tommy Cooper had everyone in stiches, and his Eric Morecambe had us all fighting off a tear at the much loved comedian but the absolute hIghlight was his one man tribute to Dave Allen it was so perfect even down to him holding a whiskey glass with only half a forefinger, his attention to detail was astounding. He recieved a richly deserved standing ovation! The neXt night was his second show and there simply wasn't a seat to be had and extra chairs from the bars were brought in, but the show was totally different Alan Carr/Michael Macintyre/Ozzy/he also did an hilarious BORIS AND Donald Trump had us ill with laughter very up to date you could hear a pin drop and that was after midnight. He was very personable young man and told us he will be on Marella Dream later in the year so we are booking that one too! We love the shows and we don't watch a lot of comedians to be fair- but I just had to post this review as everyone is quick to complain but not always ready to say a big well done Marella for booking a comedian impressionist that did nor offend one single person no un PC material or smut involved just FUNNY!!! The entire ship was talking about him the next day. in all one has to commend Marella ,especially at their price point as I assure you we have got much less from paying 4 times more!!! Read Less

We chose a cruise-stay holiday as our honeymoon, travelling on the Thomson Celebration 'Grecian Legends' cruise, then spending a week on Kalamota Island - we had the time of our lives. Neither of us had ever been on a cruise before and so were apprehensive about boat movement/sea sickness etc. These worries were completely unfounded, there was hardly any motion that we were aware of except for a little bit of choppiness on one night. We had also been lead by others into the mindset that cruises are for older folk and are stuffy and formal. Again, completely untrue! This particular cruise was adults only, but there were a few families with older teenagers on board, the age-range of the 1200 odd passengers was from about 16 to about 90! We met lots of people our own age, many celebrating their anniversaries, and a few also on honeymoon. There was one 'formal' gala evening, and everyone made a special effort to dress really well - some ladies wore cocktail dresses, and the gentlemen were in suits, shirts and jackets or tuxedos, but this wasn't compulsory. The Meridian restaurant has an expectation that men should wear long trousers, but this isn't unusual in our experience in hotel restaurants, so wasn't a big deal. The ship itself was well kept up together, clean and tidy in good repair. Our cabin was small (as you would expect), but perfectly adequate for our needs - we opted for a deluxe outside cabin in the centre of deck 3 - we could have chosen something more 'upmarket' but didn't see the need. Our chambermaid, Eblin, kept our cabin spick and span for us, making amusing animals out of our towels each day - she was friendly and helpful and always seemed to be there, hardworking girl! The staff all over the ship were solicitous to everyone's needs, taking very good care of all of the passengers and keeping the environment tidy and pleasing. We were serenaded by some of the waiters (Erwin and co) one evening in the Meridian restaurant, much to our embarrassment and their clear delight! The crew were also helpful and friendly, we had the special privilege of meeting and sitting with Captain Jason, a very genuine and entertaining man, on his gala evening, and also some other lovely crew members on the 'Sail Away' from Kotor on the final evening. By far our favourite member of the crew was Elaine, who worked so hard to make our honeymoon extra-special by organising lots of treats for us throughout the week - she really was amazing, and we are so grateful to her for everything she did for us. We were very impressed with the food and entertainment on board. We had a 'drinks on us' package provided by Thomson which meant that we were essentially AI. There were a few drinks that carried a surcharge, but there was such a huge choice of inclusive options that we didn't miss anything. The food was excellent - so much choice and available all day long. The Lido, a buffet-style restaurant, offered plenty of options, and the Meridian had menus and waiter-service. There were also other a la carte restaurants that were not AI, but we didn't visit them - the food and service was excellent at both of the inclusive options, and we were more than happy with them! The entertainment we caught was of a very high standard, some of the best we have ever seen while on holiday. We had the luxury of being able to pay for an excursion every day, and so got to see and experience so many different places. They were pricey, and if it wasn't our honeymoon we might not have been able to do it. We would also agree with other reviewers that the day in Corinth could shape up to be very disappointing if you aren't able/prepared to pay for an excursion - there is nothing there to do on a Sunday. That aside, we got to see Athens and the Acropolis and the ruins at Delphi. We went on the Game of Thrones tour in Dubrovnik (essential, if you're a fan), looked over the old town from a cable car and walked the city walls. We fell in love with Corfu, and visited the sea caves via a boat trip. We drove up a crazy road in Montenegro with 25 switchback corners to sample local foods and beer, and swam in the sea at Budvar. And, thanks to Elaine, we were invited to be part of a private party on the uppermost deck, with champagne and canapes, as we sailed out of the fjord at Kotor - one of the most beautiful and spectacular sights we have ever seen, and a memory that will stay with us forever. So - did we enjoy our first cruise? It was an absolutely perfect beginning to our honeymoon - busy for all of the right reasons. We were so well taken care of, and are thankful to everyone on the Celebration who worked so hard to make it such a special experience. Read Less

This was only our second cruise. We were attracted by the destinations and reputation for not being too formal.also entertainment. We were not disappointed we had an outstanding holiday from start to finish. Ship info An old ship but quality, it's smaller size allowed access to some simply stunning ports, Kotor, koper, korcula,Venice, sibenik to name but a few. Wonderful destinations. Activities - always something going on, darts golf, bingo, particularly enjoyed the curling and quizzes.gym and spa small but fairly functional. Service- quite exceptional all staff friendly, attentive, always willing to help. This ranged from cleaning staff, cabin stewards, bars, restaurants, entertainment team require a particular mention, always smiling, engaging and helpful. Port & shore excursions Particularly enjoyed the cycling did several, however need to be aware a basic level of fitness and cycling experience is in our view essential. Travel to embarkation port- excellent only little drawback was we took cases to Birmingham airport night before as per itinerary however carrier declined to accept them. Once cases booked in next time we saw them was in our cabin, excellent service. Don't forget to keep some essential items in your hand luggage, I.e. Medication, toiletries etc. Cabin - no 052 Neil Armstrong suite. Restricted view partial station for lifeboat, no issues though, very spacious, ample wardrobe and drawers. Loads of coat hangers.coffee tea. Mini fridge bar. Dining- Meridian was a super restaurant, varied menu each night, first class service good selection of wines. Avoid busy times about 8:30 pmif you want to avoid queuing . We also ate at hot stone and excellent service and we thought the supplement was worth it for a special occasion. Excursions - only did a few cycling very good and well organised, walking tour of koper very informative. Adult only- this suited us and we found the overall cruise experience first class. Entertainment - Quite simply outstanding we saw 10 different shows something for everyone's taste. The effort in rehearsals certainly showed in the highly professional performances living up to the Broadway billing. The cabaret and deck parties had everyone dancing , singing entertainment was a real highlight of the cruise for us. The team were also very visible throughout the day on many other activities, classes library, quizzes etc. Disembarkation - very efficient settled our account evening before departure. Cases packed left outside cabin by 0300 we then joined them at our arrival airport. Summary Outstanding, highly recommended will now try the other ships in Thomson fleet. Read Less

At first I was a bit apprehensive going on my first cruise with my 83 year old grandmother but I was pleasantly surprised. On arrival I was helped with my grans wheelchair through check in and to the cabin. The cabin was small and dated but we couldn't complain as we got a cheap deal. The food at the Lido was great, we ate there every day and there was a different selection every meal time. Most of the restaurant staff were lovely, especially Noel, they all managed to remember myself and my grans name from the first day! The entertainment team were first class, putting on a different show each night. The comedian Peter pier was also brilliant. I especially enjoyed the Scottish jokes! The gym was small but functional, I went 4 times during my cruise and it done the job. Half way through the cruise I done a seascape photo session with one of the photographers, Damien. I was pretty nervous at the start as I was on my own but Damien put me at ease right away and made me feel relaxed during the shoot. We got some amazing shots and decided to buy the lot! I would highly recommend Damien. Read Less

Have just come back from a weeks cruise round the Greek Isles. On arrival had been given a double room rather than a twin but this was sorted by reception with a smile! Our room was wonderful spacious clean and comfy! - Cleaned everyday by a wonderful man whom we never got the name of! Food was lovely would highly recommend the panini station at lunch and Freddie at the ice-cream station always greets you with a smile and a laugh! The staff are a real credit to the ship I couldn't think of a bad word to say about them always helpful friendly and attentive. The show team are spectacular and clearly work very hard to entertain each evening! The stops were all OK but Kotor was really wonderful a beautiful town. We did a seascape photoshoot with Damien which I would recommend - great fun and lovely guy.. £40 for one photo though was abit steep lovely though the photos were! Can't think of anything negative to say about the ship would 100% recommend! Read Less
