Always chose Tui, and been happy, now it seems it's all about the added extras and no customer service . Excursions range from good to very poor and a waste of money. Not enough seating outside x cheap alcohol so need to upgrade package , electrical problems, toilet issues. Overall managerial staff are poor, trained to say one thing - don't let it ruin your holiday ! But don't sort the issues. Celebration is getting tired. Don't like to moan but expect more from tui, waiters and cabin staff all lovely as usual . Coffee port was lovely and our haven on board. Mistrals restuarant was lovely but an added extra. Excursion team did not give you an accurate review on ports and led you to believe that you needed to do one of their trips when actually they are nice and trips can be done from the port alot cheaper and better or that the port is very nice Read Less

First time cruisers for anniversary. Ship a bit dated but service superb. Food very good and destinations varied and interesting. Entertainment first class. Balcony cabin a must as some appear to be a bit claustrophobic. Do NOT pay the all inclusive as you need to be a very heavy drinker to get the value for the VERY expensive package. Many drinks carry a surcharge above the AI cost. The excursions are costly and taxis offers are often a better bet. The captains night was very poor, with the same menu type as any other night and an hours queue to get in. Photos are taken all the time and cost a lot, but are optional, but not really good value. Bottles of water in cabin are not even in the AI package. Overall a good holiday but you can rack up an expensive bill if you don't be careful. Out cabin steward was brilliant and was always on hand to provide a good service. Read Less

Been on several Thomson cruises and have enjoyed every one of them. Chose Thomson Celebration this time for the itinerary and particularly wanted to visit Malta. Flight from Bristol to Dubrovnik was excellent as was the transfer to the ship. Cabin on deck 3 (number 560) was spotless and spacious with shower room having had a refurb. Single beds in L shape. Plenty of wardrobe space. Packed swimwear and cover up in hand luggage as I know there can be a delay in cases arriving at cabin and didn't want to waste sunbathing/outdoor time still dressed in travel clothes. Not sure what time cases arrived but they were there when we went up to our cabin late afternoon in readiness for the drill. Our cabin was at the very back of the ship on deck 3 right opposite the Medical Centre. The position was very noisy from about 4.30.am! Not sure exactly what the noise was though but sounded like trolleys being dragged! No chance of a lie in! Next time would definitely pay not to have this cabin and would probably chose to go to middle of ship. This however did not spoil us enjoying the ship. Staff were excellent. Our cabin was kept spotless. We ate in the Meridian for breakfast (had table for 2 - not fussy on making small talk with strangers over breakfast!) and also for our evening meals where we did not mind sharing with others. Food excellent. Met some lovely, interesting people over the week. Booked Mistrals Restaurant for my birthday.......absolutely superb and well worth the money! Itinerary: Valletta - lovely Messina - clock tower in square nice - other than that nothing to do and dirty - probably best to do excursion Crotone - nothing there - went on beach for the day Kotor - fabulous Igoumenista - nothing there - why Thomson even put this on itinerary I do not know - best book excursion or stay on ship Entertainment: Great - Loved crew show and entertainment team Bars: Horizons - FAVOURITE - excellent service Hemmingways/casino - very busy so service quite slow Broadway Show Lounge - slow service as very busy Pool bar - service good - sunbeds are reserved early though with towels Ship: Shuddery with plenty of vibration! Really noisy at times! Not plush but spotless. Engine failure leaving Malta! Apparently hit sand bank the previous week in Albania! Public ladies toilet often blocked. All that said, we loved the food/drinks on the ship. Staff are great. Will definitely look into the ports next time and do my homework!! Will also chose cabin not in same position as cabin number 560! Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly because it was child-free. Apart from a bit of a wait to embark onto the Celebration, everything went smoothly. Sulkhan, our cabin steward, had everything prepared and was more than happy to show me how to work the hairdryer. Duh ! Easy if you know how. Instructions for how everything works in the cabin would be useful. Once settled in we did a recce and maybe after a week we started to find our way around. Our default location was the Horizon lounge on deck 9 with Carol and Jana looking after us extremely well. We ate mainly in the self-service Lido restaurant which provided a wonderful selection of food. Lynn, Nickola and many others made sure we were well looked after. We did not avail ourselves of any excursions, so cannot comment. Likewise the shows. Although I attended the fashion show which was hilarious. We had the hot stone dining experience which was lovely, but we couldn't finish all the meal. Delicious but just too much. The weather was VERY hot (not Thomson's fault) and some of the stop offs weren't attractive. Venice, of course, is beautiful but, at this time of year, very crowded and hot. One of our favorite places was Rovinj, where we ate at a taverna near the market called Da Baston. We ate a simple lunch of grilled sardines and fried calamari which was cooked and served by Tomi. Just one of those wonderful holiday experiences. Also Kotor with its medieval old town. We would certainly join the Celebration again, if only for its excellent staff who are unfailingly cheerful, helpful and professional. Our cabin was clean and comfortable, no complaints whatsoever. Would totally recommend this cruise ship. Read Less

My husband and I have been used to sailing on large ships but thought we would go on the Celebration for a change of destinations etc. We joined the ship in Dubrovnik. As we embarked I could smell something like musty books, it wasn't a very pleasant smell at all. We were taken to our cabin and as soon as I entered my heart dropped. It was hot, the carpet looked filthy as in old looking. We had been told in the Thomson shop the plugs were English, NOT they were American. There was no fridge, the air con did not work, it was making all the right noises but nothing was happening. I looked in the bathroom and the towels were to say the least grey white. The port hole looked like it was just about ready to drop out with rusty marks on it. The cabin steward knocked on the door and was good enough to go and get a huge fan, an adaptor for the plug and an ice bucket full of ice which he changed twice a day. I had medication cream which was supposed to be kept in the fridge , nothing I could do about it, the offer was to take it to reception and fetch it every time I wanted it... what? I would have thought that in this day and age, all cabins should have a fridge. The floor was hot because were were on deck 1 cabin 905 which is what I would imagine hell to be so, not only did we have the noise of the air conditioner even though it didn't work but we had the noise of a fan too whiring and clunking. We went down to the cabin one day and the whold of deck 1 smelled of petrol/engine fumes, I did report it to reception and it was rectified but surely this should not happen at all. There was something outside the cabin on the outside of the ship which was constantly clanging on the side of the ship. The lamps above the bed on the wall rattled, well mine did. There was a rumbling sound from the engine 24/7 and when the ship was stationary the vibration through the whole of the ship was unbelievable. I will even say that, because the carpet looked so dirty, when I had a shower I put my shoes outside the bathroom so I could step into them because I didn't want to put my feet on the carpet. I believe this ship had been "done up" late last year. All I could say is goodness knows what it was like before, I would love to know. In fairness, our steward was lovely and worked hard, also the waiters in the restaurant were great. It seems to me though, Thomsons wants money money money, there was an elderly couple on our table one night who had been on the ship before and the gent said how Thomsons are doing more "money money money" grabbing, the new so called Asian restaurant is one in which they charge. There are lots of things on this ship which you have to pay for. The entertainment wasn't bad but nothing out of this world, we have been on cruises with other companies and they had different entertainers on all week, although I am sure, they entertainment group work hard, I think its a case of cheapness, not having to bring in outside entertainers. Now, on to the excursions. Because I only have 1/3 of one of my lungs, I find it hard to do a lot of fast walking and hills etc. We booked a tour Istrian Hilltops Jewels. It said nothing of walking uphill, we had a run around in the coach and then taken to a dusty road where we were hearded into a rattling hot bus with no air con, we were then "dropped off" and were taken up a huge slope of a road made of cobbles, dusty, and uneven. Nothing of this was mentioned in the ad for the tour, this is why I booked it. I could go on and on and on, there is so much I could say I would be here for another couple of hours. Would I go on this ship again, NO WAY, WOULD I GO WITH THOMSONS AGAIN? NEVER. Read Less
