We took the British Isles cruise on Crown Princess, August, 2019. We had a really good time and enjoyed ourselves. Ship: Although not the fanciest ship around, the Crown Princess was very clean, had everything we needed and was easy to find our way around. Embarkation: We boarded in Dublin and were given our medallions and were on board in under two minutes. Excellent. Stateroom: We had an ocean view, which was very clean (Thank you, Belman) and comfortable. We pre-ordered bottled water which was waiting for us upon arrival. Excellent Dining: The food in the Horizon Court buffet was quite good, lots of variety and the service was great. The dining room food was hit and miss with some dishes being prepared perfectly and others not so much. We were tired of the menu by the end. The service was excellent. Shows: I really enjoyed the shows, especially the Irish Dreams show in Dublin port. Good fun and a departure from my everyday life. Service: This is the one area where Princess shines. The beautiful men and women from around the globe who took care of us are simply the best. They work long hours but somehow manage to do their jobs in the most competent way and do so with professionalism and a SMILE. TOP MARKS for the crew! Ports: this cruise had an excellent itinerary and I enjoyed the ports very much. Ireland, Scotland and the Normandy coast are stunning. LOCAL SHORE EXCURSIONS: We took three tours with small, local companies and they were all excellent, at a fraction of the cost of the Princess excursions....Irish Tours Tickets from Belfast, EXCELLENT, Timberbush Tours from Greenock, VERY GOOD and Wow Scotland Tours from Invergordon, SUPER EXCELLENT! Princess shore excursions were REALLY OVERPRICED and everyone was complaining about this. That having been said, I really enjoyed the excursion to the Canadian WW2 beaches and also the Edinburgh Castle and time on our own. However, the excursion called 'Best of Cork and Countryside' from Cobb was pretty bad and a terrible waste of money. What happened was that we had to shorten our time in port due to tidal concerns for Dublin the next day. No problem, this happens. The problem is that instead of changing the itinerary, they kept it the same with less time in certain spots. This resulted in 6 minutes at Charles Fort for a photo and 23 minutes in KInsale where the driver had to park a 12-minute walk from the main street which meant that we did not have time to even walk up to the main street to look around and then walk back to the meeting spot. All we had time to do was wait in a long queue for the loo. They should have just skipped this altogether and given us some time in Cork City. It just doesn't make any sense. Next our drive through Cork was basically three turns around a motorway with the guide pointing to a street saying that's where the shopping area is. Useless.... Next we were taken to lunch in a hotel in what looked like an industrial area and were taken in to a big, white, conference-like room which could have been any Best Western Hotel in any American city. No ambiance at all. They did have two guys playing some music and they brought in two kids who danced for us, which was nice but you didn't feel like you were in Ireland at all. The meal was so-so. On top of everything else, we had paid extra to be part of a small group only to have two Princess coaches with 45 people each join us at every stop, no effort was made to stagger the groups. Finally, we were taken to Blarney Castle and this saved the day. The castle and grounds are gorgeous. Princess offered us a 15% reduction on this tour because it was shortened but even with that, we paid $600 CAD for the two of us for this excursion. But most of all, it robbed us of the opportunity to properly see some of what this area has to offer. Princess needs to take a good look at their shore excursion program and fix wait ails. We DID have a great trip and for this I am grateful. I will not let one bad excursion colour my experience. Hey Princess, fix your shore excursion program and all will be well! Read Less

The Itinerary of the Cruise was extremely appealing and the truth is that the ports of call were wonderful and we very much enjoyed all of our excursions and ports of call. The specialty restaurants were outstanding and the Da Vinci restaurant was very good. We found the food to be very good. The customer service and communications on board the ship were severely lacking. We received multiple communications that contradicted themselves; the front customer service desk did not know how to respond to basic questions; rarely did any of the ships officers have eye contact with the guests or smile at them. We were awakened in the middle of the night with announcements that could have waited until morning. The medallion system was a nightmare - sometimes working and sometimes not. There is ZERO commitment to providing the customer with a memorable positive experience. Embarkation and disembarkation were absolute chaos. The medallion system was a nightmare - sometimes working and sometimes not. Information taken at embarkation never got into the ships records. The ports of call and excursions saved this trip and I would rate them excellent. The food was very good and the specialty dining was excellent. I would rate customer service below zero. Read Less

This was our 13th cruise and third with Celebrity. We sailed on Equinox in 2016 and Silhouette in 2013. Lately we sailed on Oceania and Azamara, and it was interesting to see how it would be to go from Oceania back to Celebrity. So first, is Celebrity going down the hill as many posters claim? In our opinion, the answer is NO. We actually have seen some things improved compared to our previous Celebrity sailings, I will go into more details later. Second, can you go back from Oceania to Celebrity? The answer is YES, as long as you come with proper expectations. Don't expect service and food similar to Oceania - they are in a different league. But you can still have a very enjoyable experience on Celebrity. Now to some details. Entertainment: very good most of the time, beats Oceania hands down. The ship is very alive in the evening, the shows are very professional and evening activities are very attractive. We were especially impressed with guest entertainers, the productions shows were just okay. Buffet: We liked the buffet very much. Huge selection and pretty good quality most of the tiime. It is nowhere close Oceania, but it's pretty similar to a decent buffet on land. Not a gourmet food, but good overall. And many new items daily which is also not what I remember from the Equinox. Very crowded on sea days, finding a table was a real challenge. MDR was a bit disappointing. I wouldn't call it bad, just not inspiring. Presentation is good, the taste so so, with few exceptions. Deserts are amazing, probably among the best we had on any ship. We also liked the fact that buffet is open long hours, unlike Oceania and Azamara where after 10pm there is nothing to eat except room service. Service: good overall, considering the amount of passenger and crew passengers ratio. The wait for coffee can still be long, but they are trying their best. Just take it with patience and smile and don't expect the service to match Oceania. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Excursions: expensive as usual, but very well organized most of the time, with few exceptions. Mostly very good guides, and the groups were fairly small on most occasions (around 20-30 people). Daily activities: a bit disappointing. We were missing the art seminars and guest lectures that we had on Oceania, Azamara and Cunard. I was surprised to see the art gallery shrinking in size by more than half. Internet: It was pathetic and miserable on our previous Celebrity cruises. I could see some improvement on this cruise when most people were in port. In the evening when people are on board, it is still pathetic (speedtest shows less than 0.5 mbps). Getting off and on the ship was not an issue most of the time, while still longer than Oceania or Azamara. Room is fine. No issues. Bed ok. Bedding pretty basic. Room attendant not very good. We have to ask for everything starting from extra towels and bathrobes, soap and shampoo. We noticed a relatively high number of children, teenagers and young couples. Also overall demographics is very different from what we have seen on previous cruises. Could be related to the fact that they dropped the prices by 40% few weeks before the cruise. Overall we were impressed with Celebrity and would return, given the right itinerary and price. At the end of the day Celebrity provides a good overall package with decent value. But it's not Oceania. Just don't expect a Honda to be a Mercedes. Read Less

We cruised with Celebrity May 28 - June 7 on Celebrity Eclipse to Ireland, Iceland and Shetland. This was our 3rd cruise with Celebrity and was very disappointed with the service. Unfortunately there were a lot of sea days which made the bad service feel even worse. This cruise was not kid friendly at all. I have a 6 year old son who travelled with us. First of all, the weather was 30 degrees outside so not possible to swim in the regular pool so I asked the manager, Ernaud, at the Solarium pool what time the family hours were as there was no sign. He told me 5pm. During our Alaska cruise on the Solstice last summer, the family hours were clearly posted at the pool with multiple signs, but not on the Eclipse. We arrived at 5:45pm and immediately after we got into the pool, one of the pool attendants told us we had to get out of the pool as the family hours were 6pm. There were only 2 other people swimming in the pool at the time. I told him that the manager, Ernaud, told us that it was 5pm and he said that we had to get approval from customer relations if we wanted to swim. So we got out of the pool in the freezing weather and my son was very upset that he wasn't able to swim. On the way out, we ran into the pool supervisor, Fard, and I explained the situation, and he also refused to let us use the pool. The next morning, since there was nothing my son could do to burn off energy as it was freezing outside, we went to the gym. Again, as soon as my son and I got on the treadmills, we were told that kids were not allowed in the gym. No sign anywhere stating this. Furthermore, I upgraded my son's drink package to non alcoholic premium package so my son could get a smoothie every morning. My husband tried to order a smoothie for my son before he picked him up from the kids club and Singh stated he could not do this, and my husband told him ok he would get my son from the kids club, but by the time he came back down, the smoothie bar was closed. He should have informed my husband they were closing after my husband said this instead of wasting his time. My husband told me this and I couldn't believe it, so the next day, we went to the smoothie bar again to get a smoothie for our son. Singh was there and again refused to make a smoothie. I asked to speak the the manager, Ernaud, who also said this was the policy that a 6 year old must order his own smoothie. So I said I wanted to speak to another manager, Daniele, who took 15 minutes to arrive and said that was correct, my 6 year old son who can not see over the counter has to order his own smoothie. By then, we were late for our shore excursion and they were closing, so we left. Also, there was smoking on the pool deck and upstairs on the lawn. It seems like anytime we went outdoors we were bombarded with smokers.I had to walk my son to the kids club a different route to avoid him inhaling smoke. To relieve some of the stress of being on the ship, I had a very expensive massage at the Canyon ranch spa. Not only was it the worst massage that I ever had, it was supposed to be 90 minutes and due to all the upselling of products I ended up with only a 60 minute massage. On a positive note, Suardika, was the best waiter we ever had and somewhat compensated for the bad service on the rest of the ship. I often told friends and family that Celebrity was the best cruise line and the service was excellent, but this trip was not up to the normal Celebrity standards. It seems like each subsequent cruise that we take the prices go up, but the value, quality and the service has been going down. Read Less

We wanted to see Ireland and Norway and thought the cruise was a fabulous way to do both as it departed from Dublin! The ship is beautiful and the crew were very pleasant and provided quick service! We were treated so well! Ray and his team were excellent servers at the main restaurant. They were fun, fast, efficient and met all our needs. Great job! Pleasure! The food choices in the buffet restaurant were excellent and varied every day....always something new and delicious at every meal. Our steward Jafar was excellent at his job! Always friendly, helpful and kept our room so clean! The entertainers were very talented, but the themes/comedian were not as enjoyable as those on other cruises taken. The singers/musicians throughout the ship were fabulous!! The shore excursions looked good, but were quickly filled & seemed costly and we did our own thing instead. Suggestions: 1) Make anytime dining more accessible. We had anytime dining and were told we still had to make reservations, which really defeats the purpose as we would have liked a bit more flexibility to see the entertainment or get involved in activities on or off the ship. 2) Move the soft ice cream machine away from the other ice cream choices in the buffet restaurant... usually a line up that could be eliminated with a small change Overall, would highly recommend this trip & ship Read Less

We have always wanted to see the Norwegian Fjords and they exceeded our expectations- absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! The weather was magnificent everyday, couldn’t have asked for more beautiful conditions! 4 of us traveling together, me and my partner, my mom and her best friend. We flew to Dublin 3 days early to enjoy the city. We had been before and loved it. It never disappoints. Embarkation and Disembarkation: There were some concerns before the trip as earlier cruises had some issues with Dublin port since they are new to having a ship begin and end there but by time we took our cruise, everything seemed to be ironed out and both were very easy and quick. Ship: We loved the ship. We have been on Reflection before so we were familiar with the majority of the ship. Sure hope Celebrity does away with the cheesy glass blowing thing and replace it with a lawn grill. Ship was very clean and always a lot of officers walking around inspecting things. Cabin: we were in an S2 Sky Suite...aft /wake view/ on deck 12. Loved the room, very spacious, lots of storage. Hated deck 12. Too much noise from the Oceanview Cafe above. Deck chairs dragging off and on all day long. My mom was also on deck 12 but over on starboard side and she heard rolling carts from the Oceanview Cafe all hours of the day and night. We will never book deck 12 again. Dining: ugh...so disappointing. We were excited about eating in Luminae but we didnt care for a lot of the menu options and the things we chose were just blah. Nothing was bad, just boring. Got steak one night and it had a strange texture. Sweet potatoes, squash and asparagus was in everything every night it seemed. We ordered from the main dining room menu a couple times in Luminae as we didnt care for our options in Luminae. We ate at Tuscan Grill one night....the Minestrone soup was good but my lasagne was terrible. It was just basically hamburger between a couple slices of lasagne noodles. Not several layers. Missing ricotta cheese, barely any tomato sauce, spices...clearly no Italian was in the kitchen. No wonder the restaurant was only half full....just dont think it was worth $180 for the 4 of us...We did Qsine..and most of it was good, but for being Tapas style...still think portions are too large to really enjoy very many courses... Our only really good meal was Sushi on 5 for lunch our last full day on the ship. It was excellent. Tasted very authentic and what you would expect. Entertainment: Can’t comment too much here, we dont really do the shows, few interest us. Don’t do trivia etc....There seemed to be a lot going on every day based on the daily newsletter thing that showed all the things to do. Service: Excellent. Everyone was fantastic from our butler and suite attendant. To our waiter at Luminae, concierge in MIchaels Club.... We felt like everyone was very genuine in trying to please us. In fact, our butler was better than most of the butlers we have had on Silversea. Only negative was that it took forever to get our drinks at Martini Bar once ordered. Shore Excursions: we only did 2 shore excursions through Celebrity. Both were very good and well organized. This itinerary is FANTASTIC!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! Read Less

My husband and I traveled with my 85 year old mother and this cruise gave us memories we will never forget. The ports we visited were fantastic. The food and dining experience on board was spectacular. We loved all the restaurants but probably our favorite is Atlantide. The quality and variety on their menu is wonderful. We ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and all were magnificent. We loved the bar there and Marilyn, the bartender, is a beautiful lady and the best bartender ever! We loved her Margaritas and Lemon Drop Martinis. Our waiters - Mahdi Abid, Kim, Eugene and Ayhan- truly made If unforgettable. We forged true bonds with them all. But again, all the restaurants are fantastic. We love Mario, John, and Issac there. They all took such great care of us. But the best part of the cruise is the staff. We met so many people that we will never forget. They are so kind and hard working and always have big smiles on their faces. This was the absolute best part of our amazing vacation. Read Less

I wanted to see Iceland and everything Celebrity has been a disappointment.i am finished with ocean cruising. The queues for excursions are poorly done, while the staff openly praise themselves for a job well done.. Yesterday’s excursion left at 5pm instead of 330 and was supposed to be 8 hours. Our last stop was in the dark. Got back to the ship at midnight. Today Ring of Fire excursion took us to the same sites as yesterday”s Golden Circle excursion. These excursions were very expensive and seeing the same sites twice wasted our once in a lifetime trip to Iceland. Everything on the ship is an up sell and onboard activities are boring. The activities staff are indifferent to customers. Our dining room server has been a delight but she can’t make up for the disappointment that this trip has been. We chose this cruise as it was departing from Dublin so no flying needed for us! We had 2 wheelchair users with myself and my husband. Embarkation We arrived in plenty of time. Only downside is the port has no parking at the berth they used for Magellan so my husband had to drop us off and drive up to Terminal 1 to park. Basic tent and fold-up chairs greeted us. It was bit tough getting the wheelchairs up the wooden ramps but I got there! Bags where whisked away very swiftly. Check-in was fast, we had all documentation ready, we had our photo taken and checked-in within ten minutes. Then the trouble started. We had to get the wheelchair users out of the wheelchairs (they can walk just very slowly) and walk them up the "ramp" onboard. This ramp consisted of extremely treacherous metal steps that were upright so you had to step over each one up to the top. Slow going and nerve-wrecking for an elderly person already a bit self-conscious of walking slowly! wheelchairs were ready after we scanned through. My husband had 1 wheelchair user up ahead of me and so got on first, rather than allowing them to wait for me and my charge. As a consequence they were shown to the room and we were stranded. I had to ask to be shown. Staff were unorganised and some rude, they just ignored you, or in my case, left the wheelchair behind a rail I couldn't get to and had to ask for it to be brought in to me. CABINS We had 2 interior cabins. One was an L configuration to allow the two folding wheelchairs in. Plenty of space, tv, storage and ensuite. Our cabin was double bed configuration and this does make the room appear smaller but still useful. Mirrors make the room lighter. Not enough power points. Cabin steward very attentive and on one occasion, came tot he rescue when one relative fell out of bed he rang us straight away and we got her up. All was ok. He asked how she was every time he saw her after that! ENTERTAINMENT Poor. There really was very little going on. A few singers, a band that played the same every night. Bingo and activities conducted by bored staff so really was a waste. Shows in main lounge was boring most nights, the comedian was good but short (no idea why people reported it was offensive!) trying to get a good seating area free from poles and suitable for wheelchairs was a nightmare. EXCURSIONS None were suitable for wheelchairs on this cruise due to that bloody ramp. The fright they got going up the ramp at the start put them off ever going back down it unless it was the last time! So we could only really go on 1 excursion, Hornfleur. Myself and my husband got the free shuttle up to the town center and saw the sights ourselves. Very nice shopping areas, architecture etc. We watched the rest of the excursion disembarkation from the deck as most where by tender. All I can say is that if I was anyway nervous or on a stick I would probably never sail again!! They manhandled poor old dears like luggage! Shocking. FOOD The restaurant was very good, made all the better for our table servers. The first night he hand cut the steak for our relative and then fed it to her like some Roman Villa scene. She laughed and it was just perfect hosting, knowing boundaries and politeness, not being pushy etc. Just super. We ate dinner here every night and were never disappointed. The buffet is just a bit too much like a canteen. All breakfasts and lunches similar, no atmosphere. SPA Prices similar to other cruiselines. Was disappointed not to have been shown to the relaxation area or thermal area after my treatments. The first treatment was a full body massage & facial. This was amazing. I cannot remember his name now but it was a deep but not sore massage, the way a massage should be. As a bodywork therapist myself, it surprises me how few therapists know not to dig deep for the sake of it but rather pay attention to the muscles and perform deep massage when the client is ready. This stops the treatment from turning into torture! The second treatment was a hot stone massage. I enjoyed this but not as much as the other package. Again I was given no tour, no access to the other areas of the spa and no add-ons recommended or specials. BARS We noticed the English pub had a bar menu on embarkation day but the next day the menu was gone. Maybe it only runs on certain routes? It looked a nice lunch menu of pies, stews, sandwiches etc. and would've been nice to try for a change. Drinks prices similar to at home, we had the drinks package and it was well worth the price. TIP: ask for Smirnoff instead of Vodka, for some reason my husband would get double measures instead of a single measure. Same happened to me when I asked for Bacardi. They do ask for cards for all in the group to make sure everyone is paying what they should. This was sometimes extremely rude when we got drinks but our relatives had tea or coffee. The supervisor made a big deal out of how they didn't have the package and needed the cards....she has arthritis and was struggling to get the card at time of ordering but cards where all on the table for anyone to check from then on. The sinatra lounge was always packed and had piano or jazz music in the evenings. The casino is tiny with about 20 machines, a blackjack table and roulette. Its on the main thoroughfare. Overall, I felt it was a glorified ferry. I had hoped it would feel like a small cruise ship but no, it felt like going on the sea ferry across to England just without my car! We definitely wouldn't do this cruiseline again. Read Less
