This was are ninth cruise with DCL. Have sailed on all 4 ships. Had not sailed on the Magic or Wonder in a long time and I had forgotten how nice they are! The Magic was in great shape, has a new water slide and a new restaurant. Rapunzel's. The food and service was excellent in all 3 dining rooms. Rapunzel's has an interactive dinner show that was fun. The Dining rooms on the classic ships are less crowded then on the Dream class. In fact it did not seem crowded in any of the public areas. Entertainment from shows to trivia in pubs was all excellent. Did not do any excursions, did are own walking tours of Key West and Nassau. Castaway Cay as usual was great and again less crowded with the smaller ship. Would not hesitate to book on the Magic! I also booked a placeholder on board for a future cruise that will give us 10% off plus 100.00 credit. Read Less

This cruise was nothing but amazing! Beyond our expectations. We came well prepared with lots of U-tube videos and FB groups so we knew what to expect. Even if you don't do that the staff was super helpful. The wait staff took care of all our dietary restrictions with no issues. Our kids enjoyed that they knew exactly what they wanted every night. My kids love d the unlimited ice cream! The food was fantastic! We went on a couple of excursions through Disney. We felt well taken care of and safe. The private island was not crowded and we had lots to do and nothing to do at the same time. Our room was clean and set up so nicely every night. Our room attendant was over the top with taking care of us. We ordered too service once and really enjoyed it! Food was hot and us parents enjoyed that we could have a glass of wine on the deck in our room at night! The entertainment was mind blowing. Every night!!! It was like going to a live theatre all the time! My kids were screaming with delight at the end of each show. There was lots to do and nothing to do at the same time. The balance and options were endless! I would totally go again! Best way to do Disney!! Character meet and greets were better than Disney World! Read Less

This is our first Disney experience and first cruise with your 3 year old daughter. It was a 5 day Bahamian cruise with one Marvel day at sea. CHECK IN: we were picked up easily in baggage check by a Disney agent holding a sign with our name. She quickly got our bags and whisked us away to the Four Seasons Miami in a very comfortable SUV. The transportation (Disney) to the cruise ship was not so easy. We were in a huge bus and had to wait for everyone to get on. When we got to the port, it was very crowded and we were not sure where to go. There was a very long line although we were in concierge level. We are not familiar with cruising so we expected a private check in. But, maybe that's not how concierge cruises go? ROOM: Our room was absolutely gorgeous with a long balcony (not deep though). It was a one bedroom suite with two bathrooms and two showers. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The rocking of the ship made it very easy to sleep. Our room was kept tidy and we had special treats every night by Ferdie. He was great and very friendly and eager to please. The mini bar was convenient as we always had sparkling water and other drinks available. Concierge made sure we had the drinks we specifically wanted. We put the baby in a crib and she fit nicely next to our room and we still had our own space. CONCIERGE: I cannot imagine what this first experience would have been like without the concierge team: Emanuela, Kamesha and Amanda and help from staff, Hikmet, Nicholas and Jermain. We needed a lot of "hand holding" as we had not had any cruise experience on a ship this big. I expressed my concerns to Emanuela the first day and although I was a bit tired and frustrated after a long day of travel and some confusion, she was very, very patient and understanding and put me at ease and guided me through everything I needed to know. Every day, one of the team members would go through the itinerary with me and I greatly appreciated it. Kamesha and Amanda made Jacqueline my 3 year old feel very welcome and comfortable. They were able to get her the non dairy milk that I had requested and also the sparkling mineral water. We were able to get a last minute reservation at Palo which was absolutely incredible. FOOD: We ate at Lumiere's, Animator's Palate, and Rapunzel's Table. Our servers were Munir, Steve and Gerardo. Gerardo is very good at magic tricks and kept Jacqueline entertained. The dinner was great and food was very good with lots of choices. I only eat seafood but always found something I liked. On the Disney Magic, dinner is not just food, it's a show, a whole production. This was the first time, 5 days in a row our daughter sat at dinner and did not want to watch the ipad. The first night, she was very tired and crying though..Munir was so sympathetic and ran to get her a stuffed puppy. It cheered her up right away. Steve was always there to help us make great choices on dishes and he quickly learned our likes and dislikes. PALO: Palo is the adults only italian restaurant. It is a must do. Mehmet was our server and he had me almost in tears laughing. Dinner was so great. We had the Osso Bucco and the Dover Sole. CABANAS: this is the buffet option which we chose for breakfast and most lunches. It is excellent with a wide variety of choices and something different every day. The staff is excellent. Alexandru was so caring one morning when my daughter insisted on strawberry ice cream. He went out of his way to get it for her. Bee was so helpful and helped me carry my plate as I had my daughter in both arms. CASTAWAY CAY: This is Disney's private island and it is absolutely spectacular. It is so beautiful and serene. We stayed in cabana 14 and this is a perfect location right across from the washrooms. The beach was calm with no waves and white sand. the water was crystal clear. It is almost like a dream. The only place more beautiful than this was our trip to Bora Bora. I do have to mention that some of the staff i.e. the driver of the train and one of the golf cart drivers were not representative of Disney standard. not friendly. not helpful. short. gruff. SHOWS: We were only able to stay up for one show which was Dreams. This was the first time she ever watched a show from beginning to end with no coaxing. She was completely enthralled with her eyes glued to the stage. CHARACTERS: The character meet and greets come with long lines but I realized that this is going to be unavoidable on a cruise..lines....lines to get out...lines to get on the ship, lines to see characters, lines to go to eat. lines. but, it was worth the wait for the memories. Jacqueline had several unforgettable memories. On two separate occasions, she ran into Ariel and Sophia. They were both so endearing and played with her and held her hand and walked around the ship with her for quite a while. It really made her trip. These are memories she will keep with her. We took videos. OCEANEER'S CLUB: This is the part I was the most disappointed in. Although, it turned out well on the last try. We tried 3 times to get our daughter to go to the club, but she just would not go the first two times. The first time was not a good first impression. When we walked in, the girl at the check in was not very friendly or welcoming and seemed like she just didn't want to be there and had already had too long of a day and just wanted us to go away. I asked if I could walk my daughter in and this was not allowed. I came by 20 minutes after i dropped her off and she was wandering around by herself. The second time we tried, she cried again. The third time, luckily, we met Sophy. She was very helpful, patient and understanding. She let me walk Jacqueline around and get her acquainted. She requested for someone to come to her to help her get comfortable and we got Nic. She asked Jacqueline if she wanted to do face painting and she quickly went to her. That's all it took. I wish we had met Sophy and Nic on the first day. Other friends have said that their kids did not want to leave kids club, but our experience was totally the opposite. I did not see the big hype here. Hopefully, we have a better experience on our next cruise. CHECK OUT: We had to get on a big bus again. I sat in the back because they fill the bus up so that there are absolutely no seats empty. I had motion sickness. My only suggestion would be to have an option for private transportation. I really enjoyed the bags checked through from ship to destination. That was very helpful. We will definitely try this again. We will stick to the one bedroom suite. It is a perfect location in midship room 8022. It is one floor below all the action at the pool and just below concierge lounge. Read Less

This was our first Disney cruise and I was so nervous about the amount of money it cost. However, I get the whole Disney cruise thing now. If you have kids it’s the thing to do! The daily entertainment was great. The nightly shows were amazing! Broadway quality. Food was, for the most part good. We found the dining room service to be a bit uneven. Great one night, poor another. We did really enjoy the different themed dining rooms. Castaway Cay was one of the best parts of the cruise. By far the best cruise ship private island I have been to. A few minor complaints: 1) If you want pics with characters be prepared to stand in line. Especially on Marvel day. 2) the kids club is not a technology free zone. The kids are encouraged to play with video games and iPads. I found this very disappointing for Disney. 3) The dining rooms are loud! If your child (or spouse) is sensitive to noise bring hearing protection. Overall a great experience and we will probably do it again. Read Less

Great trip. Loved the marvel day at sea! Worth the extra money for the marvel. Lots of characters to see. Although lines were long if you plan right you can be near front and they give you plenty of time to visit. Let you take your own pictures. Marvel show was excellent. Kids club was really nice we loved it had two areas which were both large with many activities. Dining was a fun concept they really get to know your likes and dislikes by a day or two. Some of the regular shows were not that exciting to us but overall excellent experience! Would have liked to bring my own larger cup for soda but no biggie. So many movies to watch in the theater or in room all for free, yay. Really didn’t spend much extra on the trip but I could see that many people got a lot of extra such as stuff animals, pins ect. If taking kids it be a good idea to get something before hand to surprise them on the trip so you don’t spend the extra on the boat. Read Less

This was our second sailing on the Magic and the service level continues to be excellent. We were in 2620 which was a bit noisier on port days due to being over one of the entrances to port, although it was not intolerable, I would probably pick a different cabin on 2 next time. We loved the Rapunzel's Royal Table update which was new since our last sailing (although we also loved Carioca's). The Adult Entertainment leader, Matt, was hilarious and made us want to return every evening! Our dining team of Anthony and Stilyan was phenomenal and made us feel special every evening (as well as delivering excellent food!) One change that I didn't love in dining was that they included only 3 of the featured breads every evening (we had 4 people at the table). The servers got us an additional one when asked, but it seems odd that the bundles the kitchen made up would have 4 dinner rolls and 3 special breads. In previous sailings it was all specialty bread and no rolls, which we preferred. We can have dinner rolls anywhere. Again, the servers made it right, but they should not have had to go to the extra effort every night. Our boys, 12 and 14, enjoyed their time in Edge and Vibe and met several friends that they hung out with when not with us. We visited Key West and Castaway Cay. Key West was very accessible, lots of fun things to do in walking distance (we did not book excursions, but explored on our own), and Castaway Cay was beautiful although weather prevented us from doing our booked excursion of parasailing (this can't be done if winds are too high, which seems to be fairly common to be cancelled at this location due to wind, just to manage expectations. If it is cancelled, Disney does not charge you for it at their island...just be aware its probably 50/50 on being able to do it, at least in January when we usually go). Our only issue on the trip this time was that they assigned our kids' photos to the wrong key to the world cards which caused an issue on embarkation (and would have also caused issues on the ship) which ended up causing us a delay getting on the ship. the check-in team really should ask which kid is which instead of assigning them without asking. We worried about having a 5 year old and 1 year old in the same room with us, but the overall experience was designed for families like ours! Also, I loved that we walked straight on at the time we were designated. Fastest embarkation I've ever experienced. Cabin: There was a curtain to separate the room for naps and at night. The stateroom had a porthole and the kids beds were placed away from the door/toilets, which was a great when they went to bed, because we could look at the next days activities and use the bathroom etc. The crib was in the room upon arrival, along with a "diaper genie" to keep the smelly stuff under wraps. It seriously was the little things. The stateroom host was a very helpful and happy gentleman. Nursery: We booked the Nursery for the 1 year old every night during dinner and the show. It was amazing. The staff take your diaper bag, will feed the kids traditional snacks or meals, whatever you allow at the time the child is dropped off. They will also feed them your own snacks. If the child is going to be staying in the Nursery past bedtime, the staff will attempt to put them to bed with whatever is needed. They also message you in the nap if the baby is a "little upset" or "upset." Cannot thank them enough. They were amazing. Kids Club (Oceaneers Lab/Club): Our 5 year old loved the kids club and would go there at any spare moment we let him. The staff were very attentive and played with the kids. One time I came to collect him, one counselor was playing "Connect 4" just with him. I'm not sure he gets that type of attention at school, let alone a busy kids club on a cruise. They had various crafts and activities throughout the cruise, as well as shows and iPads or video games. You can't limit their screen time in the club, unless your child has the willpower and ability to self-regulate. :) Food: We went to Palo one night and were not embarrassed to order two mains and two souffles each! If nothing else, CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE! Seriously. Don't second guess. You will love it. The main dining rooms were awesome. We had done the Disney Wonder before and knew we liked the Animators Palate. But, we really enjoyed Rapunzel's! It's a new dining experience and it was awesome. They had a mini show and came to visit the table. Fantastic! Really enjoyed our wait staff. They were great. Entertainment: We are certified Disney-philes, so the shows were amazing. Apart from the timing (we did it late), they were very family friendly and had the kids (and adults) all the way through. Blown away by the talent of the cast, who played multiple roles throughout the cruise. We had the Tangled Show, the Cinderella show and the Finale Princess mash-up. We also did the magician one night, which was entertaining too. We did trivia a few of the days and that was good too. There was a "Toddler time" that I took the 1 year old to, it's kind of like a playgroup. Very informal, but introduced me to the Promenade lounge kids area. It was good. Ports: We missed Key West due to weather and only did Castaway Cay and Nassau. Enjoyed them both and didn't venture out much, except to walk to the Chocolate Factory at Grayclif. Worth the walk, didn't need to taxi or do an excursion there. Gym: Used the gym every day around 6.30am and it was awesome. Not too crowded and all the main stuff you need. All-in-all, we had a wonderful experience and would recommend it to any family considering a Disney cruise!! Read Less

We took our 8 year old grand diva on the Disney Magic. We are young grandparents (49/47) So I believe we were more excited then she may have been. From the VERY beginning Disney was a First Class Act. From Check In to Check Out. Everything went smoothly. I was so nervous how she would do with the wait and the crowd prior to boarding. Disney had it all covered. Characters Characters Characters. The entire Staff made sure once we hit the pier, we didn't have to worry about a thing. They took such great care of us. The staff was amazing. Your Servers will become your best friends the entire cruise. If you lucky enough to get VICTOR, you will walk away with many many great memories for sure. I was extremely pleased with the rotation of the dining. Every dining room was amazing and they remember everything about you. What you like, what you cant eat and what you what 2 helpings of each day. Shows Shows Shows. WOW!. Food Food Food WOW! If you can, get a stateroom with a Verandah. Portside. You will not be disappointed EVER. If you twisted my arm to give 1 thing which I was less happy - it would be the breakfast buffets. Nothing really made me personally jump for joy BUT my grand diva loved it. Espec her Mickey waffles and Cereal. You cant go wrong with finding food you like. On Deck you can eat eat and eat some more.(or get 100 ice cream cones like me hehe - real soft serve) We all had an amazing time! I see why people continue traveling with disney. I would for sure try a different ship and go again. Disney, Job Well Done! Read Less

I am a single mom with a 7 year old, and I have gushed to anyone that would listen that this was the happiest, most relaxed, and most stress free vacation that I have ever taken!!! Disney sat us at a dining table with other single parents and kids my daughter's age. We had three moms, 1 dad, and four 7-9 year olds. The shows, the room, the boat, the character meet and greets, the kids club and Castaway Cay were AWESOME! My daughter loved the splash pad area on the ship (she's not into slides yet), and I loved relaxing with my book. Restaurants/Food: We had so much fun in Animators Palate guessing which cartoon would be drawn next. We liked the new Tangled restaurant as well; however, we were seated in the back so it was hard to see the characters on stage. They did roam around though and were hilarious when they stopped at our table. So that was fun! The food was good. there was a good selection at the buffet thought sometimes I had to eat it lukewarm by the time I got to my table (but that is just buffet eating). Some was fine, other items were so yummy. My daughter is a picky eater, so when I say that all she ate was fruit loops, mickey waffles, watermelon, macaroni and cheese, and dessert (mainly ice cream bars), I'm not kidding. That's what she ate for 4 days! haha But we were on vacation, so whatever. My two favorite dinners were when I ordered steak. Yum! Character Meet and Greets: We liked that they were all times during the day and the lines really weren't that bad. We had tickets (you didn't pay for them, but needed them) for the princess meet and greet. However, there was a time we caught Cinderella roaming in the main lobby. And we had fun getting our picture with Mickey and Minnie in their many outfits. (I think they packed as much as I did.) The last night lots of characters and people from the different shows came down and stood at different places on each level and you could go get your picture with whoever. THE BEST was Captain Jack Sparrow. Of course, I realized at Disney World long ago that the people characters are the best and so much fun. He was awesome!!! And the best part was the next day when we had been out and gotten back to our room there was a letter from Captain Jack for my daughter and it even mentioned two or three things that they discussed. So neat! Castaway Cay: It was my favorite. I could have done two days there. So relaxing! I'm wishing I was in one of those hammocks right now. the only downer was many excursions were cancelled that day due to the wind, but we still enjoyed ourselves! Kids Clubs: My daughter loved going. We were usually so busy during the day that she only went after dinner. On our sea day, she went some in the afternoon. I always felt comfortable leaving her. She seemed to enjoy herself, though all I ever saw her doing was the IPAD games! LOL My daughter has never hugged and kissed me so randomly all throughout a day before. All day long, she would just lean over and kiss me. She was so happy!!!! she said, "It was the best spring break of my life!" haha Everyone asks what I think about the price in regards to the experience.....well, as a single mom, it was tough. It was saving and asking for Disney gift cards for birthdays and Christmas. But the only thing I have thought about the price since getting back is that we are going on a 5 or 7 day next time! I even went ahead and held a spot for another one while on board. For $250 (which will go toward your next cruise), you have 2 years to book, and you get 10% off and a $200 stateroom credit. So, my daughter and I have already started saving for spring break 2020! Read Less

We liked the room service which was included unlike many other cruise lines. The service from everyone was great. We especially enjoyed our dinner server. The entertainment was enjoyable for all in our group ranging in age from 7 to 60s. We especially liked the pirate night activities and fireworks. Our captain did a wonderful joy finding an area without rain to have the fireworks. Our balcony room was very nice with a great room host who whenever we saw asked how we are enjoying our stay. We liked the split bath. It made getting ready a bit easier for all. Seeing all the Disney characters was fun. The whole family had a blast. We can't wait to go on another wonderful Disney cruise! We booked this cruise for grandsons 5th birthday. My husband, myself, daughter 27yo and son 24yo joined him. We all had a blast. Disney is top of line -we went when our kids were 13 and 10 and this trip was just as great. Everything from pier to ship went above and beyond- don't let the age of the ship fool you. The ship is clean, in great shape and does not show age. Interior room was fine for us--we had us in one and kids in one next to us (crazy that adjoining door was $600 more) --we didn't need it that bad! Our first cruise in 2003 we could not dock at Disneys private island, we did this time and it was the best private island I have seen. So much to do for all ages. I really wish Disney was not so much more expensive than other lines, husband says now that we did it once we wont do again--:( Can get a great experience on NCL or Royal Carribbean with great kids clubs as well. I chose this cruise because I am looking for a new cruiseline to sail. Having cruised over 800 cruise nights on my previous cruise line I was ready for something better. From He moment I arrived at the port it was quick and orgainized. After checking in I had to wait for my boarding number to be called. That wait was awesome between the Characters and the very pleasant port agents, it was no time before we boarded. Upon boarding we were welcomed by an announcement of our name. We went to Luminars to sign up for Palo whIch is a must and mixology whIch was amazing. When we went to lunch they took our carry ons and brought them To our table for us. The food was amazing I felt like I was in a speciality restaurant. After lunch we went to our beautifully designed cabin. No detail was over looked. As far as entertainment Disney is number one in the entertainment industry so need I say more. Top notch entertainment all over the ship. More fun activities than anyone could ever do. A lot of first run movies in the Buena Vista theater, they even released the new Star Wars movie 1 hour before it was released on land. Of course they can have first run movies, they own the movies. Our dining service was exceptional to the point we asked for the same team for the ;ext cruise.I did B2B. Luminars was extremely elegant and the food was just as awesome, Animators Palate was by far my favorite because of the way animation starts out as black and white and by dessert the animation turns to color, the service team leaves so that the guests can see the show going on all around the room. At the end of the show the service team comes back out to finish the show their black and white vests are now in color. Palo’s Brunch is a must. Just an amazing brunch. They service gets even better if you can imagine that in Palos. A very under utilized beautiful place on the ship is Keys. Most people don’t explore the ship enough to find it. It is the extremely elegant Piano Bar in the After hours adult section of the ship, it is all the way forward on Deck 3. They truly have hand crafted speciality drinks that they put the finish touches on them tableside from a beautiful cart that is brought to the table. I would suggest everyone give Keys a try. Just an awesome cozy place to enjoy a drink and listen to amazing piano players. Again Disney being number 1 in the entertainment business they only have the best entertainment. If you are traveling with kids and would like a before dinner drink the Promenade Lounge is on 3 between 2 dining rooms. They have a band and dance floor. It is so cute to see the little ones dancing on the dance floor. They also have a toddler play area in the corner it has a swinging door and is closed in with short walls so people can watch the little ones play. Sail away and the tropical deck parties were both amazing. Pirate night only Disney can do a celebration in this fashion. Between the two seatings there is a Pirate Party on Deck 9 and only on Disney fireworks at sea, I had a great view on Deck 10 starboard side Aft. Service throughout the ship is truly the best in the industry. Disney is clearly a luxury cruise line with a family feel. CastAway Cay is truly the best private island in the industry. They have so many activities for children and adults. They adult only Beach is just beautiful. In the family beach area they have a bar called Conched Out bar. What is so amazing about this is it is not a hut on the sand which they load up from the ship before the guests get there like on competitors private island. No this is a building that can be closed up when not in use. There are coolers that can be locked, sinks, prep areas, tile floor complete with drains. Disney spared no expense on this private island. People say and I was one of them, Disney Cruises are to expensive and their are to many children. As far as expense you get what you pay for and then some. As far as the children for one they are more well behaved than children are on other lines. Parents are more attentive to their children. After all this is not the cruiseline where parents sit at a bar and let their kids run the ship. Parents want to share this amazing experience with their children. When they want some adult time the kids go to the kids club. The kids club is the best. I wanted to go play in the kids club. By the end of the first day I was asking myself why didn’t I start sailing Disney in 1998. As far as the kids the first day I was very aware of them. By the second day I was actually enjoying seeing the magic of Disney through their eyes. I did see some melt downs which is to be expected because they children get so excited and stimulated so melt downs do happen too. What I saw was Cast Members go to those children very quickly to attend to them. One little girl was dressed as a princess and she wanted her dad to walk her down the stairs like Prince Charming. He wasn’t getting it. After about four times of her not wanting to come down the stairs, a cast member came over took her hand like a prince and walked her down the stairs. She was fine after that. Again entertainment and service was top notch. Something that was so much fun was to go see Santa. Families dressed in Pajamas to get their pictures taken with Santa. As a grownup I put on my Minnie Mouse bow flannel Pajamas, Minnie Mouse Bow headband and Minnie Mouse over sized shoe slippers and walked through the whole ship to go stand in line to see Santa. Santa spent as much time with me as he did the kids. One more thing to note. They provide very high quality soap shampoo and conditioner and lotion daily, best shampoo I have used in a long time. The water is also the best in the industry. My hair never looked better. As far as drinking water it is very purified more than any other line IMO. Normally drinking ship water my hands and feet swell. Not on Disney. Also on the other cruiseline I sailed I had to bring an air purifier. I walked into my room and the air was so fresh and crisp like purified hospital air, I just can’t say enough about how wonderful Disney Cruiseline is. If it’s a luxury cruise line you are looking there is a reason why Disney Cruiseline with 4 ships is number 1 in the industry. Be ready to be spoiled in a way no other cruiseline can do. Read Less

I sailed in December 2017 with my mom, 6 year old son and 11 year old nephew. We had a great time on the Disney Magic. The weather was a bit cloudy because a cold front was coming in that weekend, however, that did not stop the kids from enjoying the beach and pool areas. The dining room service was excellent, one of the best I have ever encountered. The Broadway-style entertainment was absolutely amazing. The cast on the Disney magic deserves to be in a New York hit musical. The room was very clean and well maintained for an older ship. The four of us stayed in an inside cabin on the second floor. I did not mind not having a window or balcony since we don't spend time in our room anyway. The room was a bit small but we made it work. I would definitely cruise Disney again. Read Less

We have done about 35 cruises, but this was our first on Disney. We took our 6 year old grandson for a birthday treat. We were very surprised by this cruise. One bad surprise, and the rest very good. GOOD SURPRISES: - We were concerned that the Disney Magic is an older ship, due for an update early in 2018. While it lacks some "wow" factor, we found it to be a good size, very comfortable, well laid out and well maintained. Balcony cabin had lots of storage and was very functional. - While, as expected, there were a lot of kids on board, the adult areas were strictly adults only. The design of the ship enables a good seperation of the adult areas from the rest of the ship. - The kids "Oceaneers" Club and Lab were a HUGE hit with our six year old. He loved it. We were most impressed with the staff. Each kid wears a special bracelet, which tracks their location in the Club. We were very impressed with the security controlling who entered and more importantly, who left the club. - There were three Broadway quality shows- Tangled (Rapunzel), Charmed (Cinderella), and Disney Dreams (a mix of Disney hits). I think the cast numbered at least 30, and the special effects were amazing. These were at least top Broadway quality! We also had a magician one night, who was ok - usual cruise ship fare. - Pirate Party, with Mickey ziplining from the funnel to the mast, followed by fireworks, was definately a highlight. - The food was in fact much better than we expected, and easily on a par with Oceania, Luminae on Celebrity, Cunard etc. Menus included rack of lamb, Chateau Briand, etc. Buffet lunch included lamb chops, and a massive selection of stone crab, shrimp etc. - Castaway Key was lovely, with lots of space. Was not at all crowded. Lots of chairs and umbrellas. The day we were there it was overcast and windy, so the umbrellas were not opened. Later in the day we had some very heavy rain, but were back on board by then. The Oceaneer Club in fact relocates to shore, with the same security checks as on the ship. - The Disney characters were seen from time to time, but were less in your face they I had feared. - The staff were uniformly helpful, cheerful and polite. BAD SURPRISE Disney is known for its skill in managing large crowds. Well, our embarkation in Miami was one of the worst we have experienced. We arrived at the designated time, and were checked in efficiently. Then we waited, and waited, and waited in the overcrowded terminal for a long time before they began boarding the ship. Seating was very limited in the terminal, and no water or snacks etc available. Hardly a fun environment for the many kids waiting to board. On all other cruises, our experience has been you check in, and immediately board the ship. Given we had an early departure from Miami Airport on our return, we chose to do the Express Walk Off, ie take our own bags. We gathered in the lobby at 7am, disembarked at 7.30am, and were in a taxi 10 minutes later. The only way to travel:) NET Disney is expensive, but represented good value. When our twin granddaughters are 5 or 6, we will definately take them on a Disney cruise. Read Less

The Disney top notch customer service began even before we stepped on the ship. They sent emails every once in a while reminding us of things to bring, preorder, and book (e.g. excursions, photos packages, etc.). Then, when it got closer, they sent us a small spiral book that had all of the information we needed, specific to us, along with our luggage tags. That was very useful since it had our flight information (I didn't even book that through them), transportation to and from the airport info, itinerary, and what to bring. When we got to Miami, someone was waiting for us at the baggage claim to take us to a bus that took us to the ship (because we booked the transportation- which I recommend). When we got to the port, the ease of embarking was remarkable! We've been on other cruise lines and this was much more organized and everyone was friendly! When we got on the ship, to our surprise, they announce your arrival with a microphone and employees smile and clap for you (our 8-year-old loved that). Our first stop was to the kids Oceaneer Club where we got our son a band (not extra) that he wears the whole trip to get in and out of the club. It's great! They know exactly where your child is the whole time!! That was very reassuring. I can't say enough good things about this club. There was plenty to do, lots of fun activities, in a safe environment. Our son absolutely loved it! The ship was the smallest we had been on, but I really liked it. We were never bored or amazed by all it offered onboard. It is a beautiful ship. The lines to meet characters were not that long, considering how many people were onboard. Same for the amazing broadway shows! We just got there 45 minutes early and always got front row! (They open the doors 30 minutes prior, so only stood for 15 minutes). We really enjoyed the Game shows, juggler (from Americas Got Talent!), bingo, and the broadway shows! The Star Wars shop and other shops we great! On Grand Cayman we did the Dolphin Extreme which was a lot of fun!! On Castaway Cay we were going to Jet Ski, but it was cancelled due to rough waters. But, that island was our favorite!! So nice and very fun!! The disembarkation was very smooth. We were well informed on what to do beforehand, which I appreciated. Everything from the last breakfast onboard to collecting our luggage (from a carousel!!) off the ship was very impressive. The absolute best we had been through. Disney is very organized, has the absolute best customer service, and everyone onboard was very happy. I felt safe and was happy the entire trip. I highly recommend going!! I will definitely do it again! Read Less

We had such a great time on this cruise. We felt like we were in a brochure for a great family vacation! It was our first cruise since having kids, and our 5 and 7 year old sons really enjoyed it - they never asked to use their iPads during the cruise, not even once. Our older son spent many hours per day in the Oceaneers Lab and he was always doing something different (playing musical chairs, Jenga, little science projects) every time we went to pick him up. Our younger son was a little more hesitant but did spend several hours in the Club once he discovered the giant slide. We really enjoyed being able to relax and get a cocktail at Keys, the adults-only piano lounge, which had excellent drinks and a top-notch piano player. The seated dinners worked well with children, and overall I thought the food was really quite good and had a lot of healthy options (and a lot of unhealthy ones, too - I mean, it is vacation!) The service on the ship was amazing, and you got the sense people enjoyed working on the ship. I felt like the cruise did a great job of having something fun for all ages. My kids are not particularly into Disney stuff so we did not do the Disney characters, but they enjoyed having the movies playing everywhere. The pools were crowded at times but workable, and my older son went down the water slide about a million times. I felt like while most kids were pretty well-behaved, there was a nice tolerance for "kids being kids". Our last family vacation previously was in France and it was nice on the cruise to not have to spend so much time telling them to sit still and be quiet. I probably wouldn't really recommend this cruise if you're not bringing kids, though - unless you really, really like kids. If you are traveling with children, I highly recommend it! We are going to try the Fantasy next February. Read Less

Keep your expectations high for Disney Cruise Lines, and they will meet and exceed them. Our two girls woke early and stayed busy from the first minute to the last. Each night we sent them to bed while there was still fun to be had. The staff exhibited nothing but warmth and smiles, and they left nothing for us to wish for. Clean, efficient, and well-organized--the ship never felt confining or overstuffed. With all the Disney-themed activities and characters offered on the ship, we preferred staying on board instead of going ashore. Only Castaway Cay convinced us to cross the gangway, and Disney made certain that their private island has all the charms of the boat plus the simple pleasure of a clean beach with beautiful views and island breezes. We loved it all, and if you have young children, you will enjoy it thoroughly as well. The Disney machine can be relentless, but you will find it hard to resist, and harder still to return to the real world. Read Less

This was my 8th DCL cruise and my third time on the Magic. I just adore this classic ship. The larger ones are nice, but not intimate like the Magic and Wonder. We noticed our last cruise on the Magic had a bit of a tired menu and the cooking seemed 'off'. This cruise was not the case. We had many new menu options and the quality of the food was really good. Shore excursions included a regatta in Cozumel that was very good for the price - I'd do that one again. Our cabin was in fine shape, but there were parts of the ship that seemed like they needed a bit of paint. It wasn't a distraction; perhaps I am simply picky since I am used to DCL being pristine. Service on DCL is unparalleled. It's just that good. Everyone seems genuinely interested in making sure you are having fun. Entertainment for adults is not lacking on DCL. We attended 'Match Your Mate' which is hilarious, spent time in all of the bars, saw an adult ventriloquist, and a great group called 'The Fly Boys'. They are worth seeking out in another realm outside of a cruise ship. We have done DCL with and without kids. It's great fun either way. Read Less

I researched all cruise lines & ships that focus on kids, because I was taking my 8 yr old grandson on his first cruise, for Christmas. Disney was the winner. And Disney Magic had activities I thought he'd enjoy, as well as island stops that I liked. My 2 adult children wanted to come so we were four. All four of us LOVED this cruise. The onboard shows were first rate. My grandson very much enjoyed being dropped off at the Oceaneer Club/Lab (supervised fun for his age group) - and I did not expect this from him. He loved it. That provided unexpected adult time for my kids and me! The port excursions were all great fun. Two got rained out on Castaway Caye, but we had fun anyway. The food was delicious. The staff was excellent. The cabin was wonderful - spacious enough for all 4 of us in one cabin (7008). The Stateroom host prepared our beds (1 couch bed, 1 pull-down bunk, 1 queen) each evening when we left for dinner, plus there was always that coveted towel animal waiting on the bed! Then when we left in the morning, the stateroom host would put it all back, so we could enjoy the couch, and not bump our heads on the bunk. There was a laundrymat on our deck so we could pack light, knowing we could wash clothes. Our room had a large porthole window, which was nice. Our assigned restaurant servers were the best! We rotated between 3 restaurants, and they followed us. We did 2 port excursions outside of Disney at one island stop, and these worked out well, with no problems or worries. With our smart phones we were able to text each other all over the ship, using the Disney Navigator app that we downloaded before the cruise. Someone on cruise critic suggested a magnetic white board for our exterior cabin door, so I brought one, but the magnet wasn't strong enough. If I had bought an additional strong magnet, I could have hung it. But with the Navigator app, it wasn't needed anyway. We have so many "pure joy" expression photos of my grandson. Disney definitely has the market on magic! Hands down. The final night, there was the usual farewell performance. All the Disney characters were there. It hit home to my grandson that this meant the cruise was over. He collapsed into a sobbing heap, so sad that it was over. He wanted it to last forever! Read Less

This was our 2nd cruise and I will admit I was geared up for disappointment based on my previous cruise (Carnival). I could not have been more wrong about what to expect by sailing with Disney. From the moment we arrived at the airport to take the Disney transport to the port, everything was top notch. Transportation staff was very friendly and professional. After arriving at the port, the professionalism continued which was great. It was nice to be treated like a guest rather than a herd of cattle headed to the trough. Once on board the Magic, that's when my expectations started to be exceeded. The ship itself is beautiful and elegant with a twist of Disney mixed in. The overall layout really worked well and the ship was really easy to navigate. *FOOD & DRINK* The 3 restaurants in the rotational dining, Lumiere's, Animator's Palate & Carioca's were all fantastic with exceptional service. Animator's Palate was our favorite out of the three. Seeing the characters come to life right before your eyes was great and having your own design come to life was pretty cool aswell. The food and presentation was 5 star in my opinion. The only negative I could find about the three restaurants was the very limited selection on the kids menu. The other food options on board were Cabanas (buffet style) which had many different options for breakfast and lunch. The overall quality and flavor of the food was a solid 7 out of 10. Busy place in the morning for breakfast but that's to be expected. Never had a problem finding a table inside or outside. Pete's Boiler Bites was another family favorite for lunch or anytime throughout the day. The chicken strips and fries were awesome, but then again the many choice offered were all really good. A solid 8 out of 10. Daisy's Delights was decent for fruit or a mid day wrap of sandwich. Lastly, Pinocchio's pizzeria was another family favorite. Several flavors of pizza to choose from all cooked on crispy flatbread. Delicious pizza. *ACTIVITIES* There were plenty of activities on board to keep everyone of all age groups occupied throughout the day. Movie theaters, kid's clubs and scheduled activities were plentiful. The live Broadway style shows were excellent. Adult areas were quiet, attractive and relaxing. Shops were stocked with many items with decent prices. *STATE ROOMS*. Our state room was a inside standard which was big enough for a family of 4 and never once felt like we were on top one another. I personally didn't care about a window or balcony (only used the room for getting dressed and sleeping). The room itself had plenty of storage and looked very classy. Never had a problem with hallway noise or other rooms. The room steward was fast and friendly. Never had I problem leaving items on the table (nothing ever went missing). Our first stop was Tortola (BVI). Beautiful island with very friendly people. Excursion was booked though DCL and was run absolutely perfect. Our second stop was St. Thomas (USVI). Nice island, not as friendly people. Shopping was plentiful. Excursion was booked though DCL and was run absolutely perfect. The private beach excursion was very private and beautiful. Last stop was of course Castaway Cay. Excellent beach with great snorkeling. My overall expectations for the Disney Magic and Disney Cruise Line were far exceeded in every way shape and form. Even though this was only our second cruise, it was really nice to have activities for everyone to do. This is truly a family cruise line. We look forward to our next cruise in January 2018. We took our almost 5 year old on the Disney Fantasy, and what an amazing experience! Embarkation was so easy. We spent the night at a hotel near the port, and arrived at the port around 10:30. We walked straight through to the desk cast member and were given our Key to the World cards, our pictures were taken, and we were given a map of the ship and our boarding group number (we were in group 9). We had just enough time to meet Minnie Mouse and take a photo, then they called our number. Our cabin was a regular balcony cabin, but larger than on other cruise ships. We loved the split bath, what a God send. Rudolph was our cabin steward, and he was great. He kept everything clean and tidy. He even surprised our granddaughter with Disney princess sheets for her bed! Lets talk about food..... Wow!!! The food was amazing. If there was something that didn't sound good to you, trust me, keep looking because there will be something there you will love. We even had dinner at Palo one night. We were catered to and doted over the whole time. Great experience. Our granddaughter loved the kids club! She would rather be there than anywhere I think. She had so much fun, we had a hard time getting her to leave. One thing that really bothered us..... We had our granddaughter measured at the doctor's office (without her shoes) to be sure she would be tall enough for the AquaDuck. The doctor measured her at 43". But when we arrived, they said she didn't measure up the 42" height requirement. She was so disappointed. So don't get the kids' hopes up about riding until you get there and are absolutely sure they is tall enough to the cruise's standards. This was an absolutely amazing vacation. I would definitely take the grandkids again, but not sure I would go as just a couple. We are complete Disney freaks, and loved the idea of the cruise, but it's really hard to get away for adult only time (even in the adult only area). Read Less

We recently did a family trip on the Disney Wonder for ten of us. The age range of our travelers was 5 years old to 73! Our cruise was a big success! We were so impressed with Disney's level of service. Embarkation and debarkation were very smooth, moved right along. The ship is beautiful and well kept. We were in a verandah cabin and we were very happy with it. Extremely clean and comfortable, our stateroom host was very attentive. It was great to sit out on the verandah and watch the ocean go by, and get a good look at the ports of call...beautiful views. Dining was such a pleasure, our servers Wayan and Katrina were unforgettable! They treated us like kings and made us feel at home. From breakfast to snacks to dinner we were very impressed with the quality of the food. The evening shows were family friendly and the characters were very accessible. We stopped at Cozumel and Castaway Cay. The private island is very beautiful. We felt safe and had a great time snorkeling and laying on the beach. Beverages and ice cream available all day for the whole cruise...and there were plenty of healthy options. Nice laundry facilities was a big plus. There was so much to do! It's easy to see how both kids and adults are happy on a Disney cruise. Our 13-year-old son enjoyed the kids clubs, the rest of the kids in our group spent a lot of time in the pools which are spotless! We will cruise again after this experience! Read Less
