We chose the Disney Fantasy due to the fun we had on the ship in 2018 and the fact that it was an 8 night cruise. First I want to highlight the good. 1. Check in was easy and very efficient and orderly. We had rain in the area when we checked in and Disney really got people thru the lines at security very efficiently. 2. The staff was excellent. Our room host was amazing, as was our dining team. 3. The shows were very good. I thought we would be seeing the same shows, but they seemed to tweak them a little bit, to make them fresh. Excellent performers. 4. The characters, as always, were very accessible. They would stay around a little longer than the scheduled time to meet all of the guests that were in line. 5. Our stateroom was very clean. 6. The singers in the atrium were entertaining. 7. My kids loved the activities in the Oceaneers lab (ages 5 and 10). They spent a total of 6-7 hours there and wished they had spent more. 8. Cabanas restaurant is very good for a buffet. 9. Trick or treating on ship was fun for all involved The "not to Disney Standard" (I won't use bad) 1. The Fantasy seems to need some TLC. I know it is hard to maintain a boat when it is only in port for less than 12 hours, but it seems to be showing more wear and tear since last year. I noticed last year they were always painting and cleaning areas. This year, parts of the boat were showing rust (I had the same stateroom last year and used it as a good judge). Last year I would say the Fantasy was a 9 out of 10 and now I say it is a 7.5 2. The prices seem to be creeping up on a lot of things from drinks to bingo. 3. I witnessed two different altercations on board with passengers in the theater. All over seating. The staff tried to diffuse the situations, but it was not handled real well. Not sure if there is a good way to fix it, as everyone is fighting for the same seats. I have sat all over the theater and the only seats that are just ok are the ones on stage left lower. 4. The food on the dining rotation was OK. Was better in 2018 5. The fast service at the V8 cafe was fair for food quality. 6. Previously, we were able to use our DVC discount on any gift shop purchases. Now, we had to spend over $50 to use it. Felt a little cheap on Disney to take that away. 7. We did the Halloween on the High Seas cruise. I guess I was expecting more than a 10 minute story and the pumpkin tree coming to life. But that part of the sailing was disappointing (the trick or treat part was fun for the kids). 8. Goofy's sports simulators are worn out. I thought it was just a golf simulator, but it has a variety of games to play. I took my daughter with me and we tried to play golf, but when you hit the ball, it only goes about 100 yards with a driver. Very frustrating on that so we quit and switched to other games. But the screens had dead spots on them and you had to throw in different areas to make it work. A total waste of money. Just a tip, you can take the whole family in with you to do these if you so choose. When you make the RSVP it doesn't really say much about it. Ports of Call St. Kitts We did the beach excursion. It was a short ride from port and got to see some pretty parts of the island. The beach was nice, the staff at the beach was nice and the food and drink were very good. Antigua We did the Stingray adventure. The girls had fun and I would do this again. San Juan This didn't have a lot to do for families, so we did not book any activities. We walked to the old fort (about a half mile from the ship) and took the tour. It was a fun learning experience for all all ages. The only negative is the people trying to sell you stuff as you get off the ship. Cataway Cay As always, this is the best and worst part of the trip. The island is awesome with tons to do. It's the worst because it means vacation is over the next day. But, the snorkeling is fun, the slides are a blast, I did the 5k and it was fun to walk around the island, and overall, it is a great stopover. Overall a very good cruise. But it seems Disney is slipping a touch in quality. Read Less

My husband and I went on this cruise for our anniversary. I think my title says it all. The food was fantastic, the rooms were soooo clean!!!!! The entire cruise ship is cleaner than anything that you could imagine. If you like steaks, they were our whole tables favorite. You go from dining room to dining room and your staff follow you from room to room. If I had anything the least bit negative to say it would be the the Animators dining room. It wasn't that the food wasn't delicious, it was the noise level, very Loud. We are grandparents and went on this vacation together, no kids. There is an adult pool that isn't very big, but when you go in it is wonderful. deck 12 and 13 are for us adults, but you can still go down to the kids pool if you would like to. Also, movies running all the time, are quite nice too! We love children, but in that dining room, the noise just seemed to amplify. Like I said the food was still wonderful. On the cruise you can do as much as you want or as little. It's all up to you. I enjoyed all of the ports, but our favorite thing was Jamaica, we went on a river ride, on a bamboo raft. It was the most beautiful experience. Our guide was wonderful. The shows that they provide are so wonderful, just something you need to see. We didn't go to the magician night show. Only the shows put on by the ships crew. I could go on and on. It takes a lot to make my husband say he enjoyed something, and he said it was our best vacation ever! If you knew him, you would know this is a wonderful complement!!!! We also had a veranda, for us this wasn't a waste, it was much appreciated to wind down at night time. Read Less

3rd Disney cruise and loved it again every time room has been immaculate cleaned every day and towels are folded into animals and bed sheets changed every day. People say pool is too small and the 2 pools for all ages are small however it isn’t easy to have a large pool onboard a cruise ship there are also adult exclusive pools and a pool for teen club vibe (14-17) Ship is easy to navigate with maps all around and staff are friendly the ship has a fun mini golf course and basketball court. The 3 times I’ve been on the cruise my son has been able to go to all 3 clubs oceaners lab (3-12) edge (11-14) vibe (14-17) the oceaners lab is very large and great for kids as there is always activity’s on this also goes with edge and vibe. Edge is fairly small however is my sons favourite out of the 3 and every time has been extremely sad to leave his new friends. The activities range from sports deck fun to trivia challenges and video game challenges and much more. We have never made him go to the clubs yet he has chose to he would wake up have breakfast with us ( which the breakfast is a large buffet) then go to the youth club until dinner have his dinner then go back till the club closed. The waterslide the aqueduct is also a must do. There is a rotational dining plan where you change restaurants every night and cycle between the 3 and your servers rotate with you. And one restaurant even allows you to draw a character and have it animated the food quality is great with bread service, starter, salad/soup, main course, dessert. not to mention the adult only restaurants you can go to. There is also an option to share your table with another family at first this may see odd however I would fully recommend as the look at of you have children there gender there age etc and match you up with a family like so you child will instantly have a friend. You can also get food like pizza and ice cream and soda during the day for no fee The whole ship is in Christine condition as everynight and whenever the boat docks workers are always jetwashing painting or doing maintenance There is also a range of activities for adults including Karaoke music quizzes game shoes etc and like there is plenty for kids to do there is also plenty adult exclusive areas all over the ship Overall an amazing vacation and would recommend to anyone thinking about booking with or without kids Read Less

I went on the cruise with my family to celebrate the life of our beloved dog Roxy because she passed away from cancer. We went on the Fantasy Star wars cruise it was awesome they had fireworks for Pirates night and then a Starwars fireworks for Starwars night. The service in the dining area was excellent and the steward was one of the best we have ever had. The food was good but the menu you could have more seafood options. All the shows were great and the Movie choices were excellent as well. The fantasy is one of the most beautiful ships I have ever been on the cabins are large and spacious. If you have children and you love Disney this is an excellent vacation for your family. The service continues to get better we really liked our dining staff Edgar & Clinton and the room steward Alston was excellent taking time to talk with us every time he saw us. We can't wait for our next Disney cruise. Read Less

This was our 4th Disney Cruise. It was such a disappointment! In my comments that we left at the end of our cruise, I included 4 pages of items!!! First, the excursions were horrible. We paid just under $1,000 for two excursions and spent more time or transportation than at the actual excursion. I recommended dropping the Mystic Mountain Bobsled and the Xel-Ha resort tours as the docks are so far from the actual event you have no time at the destinations. We have never been on a cruise that had a rude crew. This one crew was uninformed and almost ran us over with carts and other transportation items. We were in room 10568, DO NOT use this room!! you are under the pool and ice cream area that has running and jumping from 8am until after 11. At 2am they started moving and cleaning the chairs so we could not sleep at all! The food was always cold and seemed to have a smaller selection than other cruises. If you eat early the shows are at 8:30pm, so if you are early to bed you will miss all the shows. the trivia is not fun because you have people that will say they got all the answers right (yes, Every one had that kind of people). The crafts are in the bars at the same time people are trying to enjoy the bars so that is not enjoyable. The movies are spread out so that you either miss the one movie or most of the activities. Our Grand Cayman was canceled due to weather and the activities that were thrown together was not compensative of missing a shopping port. The had the new Star Wars movie and it would have been better if they started back to back showings of that. That brings me to the onboard shopping. Tiffanys and a gourmet sweets shop replaced arcade and other parts of the ship. They were out of 12X12 2017 scrapbooks and said put it on the comment card. The clothes were high priced $25 for tees that were so thin you could see right through! Most made in Mexico and of poor quality. One t-shirt was $49.99 and would have to wear a shirt under the shirt. They ran out of star wars shirts (kids t-shirts were awesome! Adults just had star wars the last Jedi across the front) sold out in hours. The movie popcorn had pictures of pluto popcorn bucket, sold out the first day and still had the display up. Dining we had three adults put with our three adults and squeezed into an oval table for 4. We were celebrating and ordered the $50 cake to be presented at dinner, would have been rude not to share. However, they have no way for you to store it for the following night and no way to get it back to your room. Several times the information given at the front desk was incorrect, for example, we bought rum in port and they will take it until you leave. The front desk said we could pick it up at 6:30 am maybe as early as 6 am. When I went down about 6:15 am I was told no that was incorrect it was 7 am. went down few mins before and line of people already getting their alcohol. Seems they started just before 6:30 am. There was an issue at Castaway Cay for our card to purchase items, they do not take anything but you key to the world and they could not get a hold of ship. So we had to wait in line to figure out they had not taken a note off account then go wait in line for items to pay then go back and pay off charged items! They will add your tips to cash accounts (limit $500) that is almost $300 and then freeze your account if you are over. I could continue for pages...but I will end with this cruise was the WORST Disney Cruise we have ever been on and we were celebrating two specila events, mothers 70th birthday and our 26th wedding anniversary. Disney Cruise Line ruined both. Not what we are used to at all! Read Less

Let's get something straight - this was not a perfect cruise, and there are some elements of the service that were not up to par when compared to previous cruises. However, the Disney Fantasy is a great ship and overall, this turned out to be an extremely enjoyable cruise. What I liked: Speedy embarkation and good arrival buffet. As the boat recently went to dry dock for a refurbished, all areas of the ship are in great shape. With the pre-registration for the kids club, confirming details was a breeze. Good departure day entertainment (standard Disney Sail-Away party). Food quality was at least above average in all locations (including buffet and rotational dining). Great captain and cruise director keep things going, even though some on the fly changes were required due to weather constraints. Never a dull moment with plenty of entertainment and character appearances. Good idea to have the ability to pre-book certain activities such as character breakfast, princess gathering, Frozen gathering and so on. Great experience at Bibbidi Boddibi salon (limited # of spots available online, many more openings on site). Although the sea was fairly rough, the crew did their best to provide for a smooth sailing (it was not perfect, but manageable). Half decent gym onboard. Palo (dining add-on) provides a great brunch experience. Castaway Cay is always a blast. We did get to see Star Wars the Last Jedi on opening night at sea and the shows were relatively good. Great table assigned at Palo and during rotational dining - which is nice Port experience in Falmouth was great, primarily due to the Dunns Falls experience. The bobsleigh part of the tour was fun, but rushed so not as fun as advertised What to watch for/could be improved: Not sure if it was the rough sea or cooler weather but the crew was a bit off when compared to other Disney Cruises: Did not see the room attendant on Day 1 and luggage delivery was slow. Dining room staff were friendly but did not go above and beyond like in my two previous cruises. The shore execursions in Cozumel (Mayan Ruins, Chocolate and Beach) fell short of expectations - but DCL came up with a reasonable consumer service gesture to compensate. Although the shows were good, I found the actual delivery better on the Wonder. Kids Club now has more computers and I did not find them as lively as those on the Wonder and the Dream. Read Less

We sailed on the Dream in 2013 and thought it was a wonderful experience. In 2015 we sailed with Royal Caribbean and found it hard to choose between them. Now after this Western (changed after Hurricane Irma) Caribbean 7 Day on the Fantasy I now know that RC is the better choice for us. For cruisers with children, perhaps this is a great experience, but for us without kids its just not a great value. RC has better food, variety, dining arrangements and dining locations. It pains me to say this, but RC also has better on-board entertainment and activities for adults. Additionally our spa interactions were weighed heavily with unwelcome add-on pressure. On the positive side, Disney does have a great staff. We had to visit the medical center and they were very professional and caring. Embarkation and debarkation were a breeze. Not Disney's fault, but our cruise was changed to Grand Cayman, which uses tendering. A miserable experience. Overall, we could not shake feeling some disappointment that Disney charges a premium price but for our situation does not offer a premium experience. We are going to Alaska next year and can't see booking Disney. Read Less

We booked this cruise because we wanted to get away with our very active Grandkids for a week to give their parents a break. I will start first with the on the ship experience with a pro and con scenario and recap the booking nightmare in the last paragraph. Embarkation was a breeze. Parking was easy and fair for the price, equivalent to a major city airport short term parking. Porters met us and our bags were whisked away efficiently, in fact too efficiently. A bag that I had meant to carry on had wine in it and was confiscated. No foul on Disney. I knew the rule and screwed up. I did get the wine back at the end of the trip Just know that they will enforce that rule. Now for the cons on the trip. 1. The fitness center is way too small! That's it, folks. Now for the pros 1. The food in the main dining rooms was delicious and beautifully presented. It is the best main dining room food and service we have ever experienced in our 25 cruises. 2. The restaurant staff of Faisal, Henry, Michele, and Andina were efficient, engaging with the kids, and attended to our every need and request. I could write paragraphs about these folks! A shout out to our great table mates, Scott and Melissa and their boys Asher and Carson! Congratulations, Scott, on your promotion and thank you for your service to our country for the past 26 years! 3. Eric, our cabin host gets ditto so for all the above attributes. Eric is an educated, articulate, and engaging human being with a ready smile. 4. Kids club takes up a whole deck. It's rare that you can send your kids off, let them stay up until midnight, and not worry about their safety, The Kids club staff is entertaining, concerned and very watchful. Trust me, there are eyes on these kids wherever they go. 5. Shows are over the top as you would expect from Disney. Best I have ever seen. 6. Shore excursions, especially Jamaica, were well planned. Disney gives the excursions much more time than othe lines. If you go to Dunns river to climb the Falls, be sure to ask for Dwight. He was one of the hidden gems of the trip. 7. If I've left anyone out, Kudos to the whole staff. I am going to make the pre boarding experience a separate review as I do not want to detract from this one. I hope this helps you decide. I have been asked if I would go on this ship with just my wife and myself. The answer is no...not because it was not a great experience....just because there are too many kids. That's the point. I will bet you in the next few years that Disney will come out with an Adults only ship. I will be the first to book. Read Less

We've already been to Disney so we wanted to do something different. Checked with our travel agent and found the Disney cruise on the Fantasy lined up with your desired dates. We booked it and counted the days. The magic express was seamless and we didn’t wait long. Check it and the port was also much quicker than I expected. Once we were on board we marveled at the beauty of how the ship was decorated. We made our way up to Cabana’s to have lunch and then down to our room. I always say a company is defined by how they solve problems, not the problems you run into. My luggage was lost and guest services was able to help me track it down. I was very happy to not have to lose my stuff. They also helped me rent a tux for formal night and helped me find the laundry services to wash my clothes. I highly recommend packing changes of clothes in your carry on and mixing clothes between suitcases. Some highlights were Carlos and Grace for dining, Mario taking care of out stateroom and our table-mates who we now consider friends. The ship was well-kept and there was so much to do for everyone. This was my kidlet’s first cruise and Edge became the place to be all day every day with the exception of excursion days. Castaway Cay was one of the best days because it was just a chill beach day. The food was exquisite and my waistline can validate that. If I were to note a few things to improve, it would be to not have the good movies playing during dinners or the theater shows. I also think they should do a bit more character appearances. The line up was pretty long and characters weren’t out for any significant amount of time. Read Less

We choose Disney because we had heard so many good things about it. My husband wanted to surprise me for my birthday. So, he booked the cruise. Wanting first to experience for ourselves what a lot of people were saying about Disney, and secondly wanting to check it out before possibly taking all of our eight grandchildren. This is what we encountered.... Upon arriving we went to the dining room to try and change our reseravation time(that was determined by Disney) they could not accomodate unless we shared the seating with others. They did call mid week saying they had cancellation, but they called too late and we had already eaten at flos. Being people that like to eat early, waiting until 6:30 to eat did not work for us. We are use to other ships that actually have a decent dinner buffet for those who do not like eating at the dining room every night. My husband and I are seasoned cruisers, and on different ships. This is the very first time that food was not available with pastry stands, cookies and other sweet desserts. Midnight buffets, and other specialty stands that you don't have to pay extra money for. On the staff....They seemed to get a lot of perks that guests did not. Eating at Cabanas when it was shut down, getting food first when waiting to get food. (Very disappointing) mingling and talking to each other before reaching out to the guests. I am all for a happy crew, and seeing them all get along. I do have a problem when it's at the expense of paying guests. Now for your adult setting,Awful!!! Honestly I could not wait to get off the ship to hear laughter, and singing, and music. For those of us without children, and do not want to read or sleep, it would be very refreshing to hear more live, or speaker music. It was painfully dead, and Way too Quiet. On a positive note, the staff up there was so pleasant and friendly. Always ready to assist. They were wonderful! I'm sorry to say, but this was not a good experience for me, and I don't think I will be taking any future Disney cruises. Read Less

This was our 30th cruise and first on Disney. Will never go Disney again. I completely understand that this is mainly for kids (8 and under is probably ideal) and adult care and feeding is secondary.. From an overall cruise experience, RCL, Carnival, and Princess cruise lines offer more variety and choices for daily activities caring for both adults, families, and children. As far as the food goes, a major disappointment. If you are not prepared to eat at specific times and just feel like the buffet and not the dining rooms - forget it. No buffet after 2:15 pm. It's Flo's, pizza, hamburger, chicken nuggets, sandwiches, etc., at three stations till 6:30 pm and that is about it. Pizza opens again at 9:30 pm. Cabanas at night turns into a sit-down dinner place at 6:30 pm with a limited menu - no buffet. Food was average at best everywhere including dining room and the morning and early afternoon buffet. RCCL, Carnival, and Princess all had more variety, more options, and better food. Read Less

We were looking for a tropical get away over the December holidays for our family of four (12 yr old boy and 11 yr old girl). Reading the reviews we expected that Disney had the best full family experience...ample activites for the kids and adults. We expected that we could find adult entertainment free of Disney "kiddie" fluff, and that our pre-teens would be happy with the tween activities, which might periodically include familiar Disney characters or theatrics. I preface the rest of this review by pointing out we are not Disney fanatics, nor particularly loyal to any brands (cruise lines, sports teams, car manufacturers, etc.). Since we are not into Disney (parents or adults) we would NOT recomment this cruise line to similarly minded families. The adult entertainment focused on Disney brand movies (Star Wars, Marvel - Dr Strange, FInding Dory), but other acts were slim. We did manage to find two 45 minute shows (one comedy and one magic), but the remainder of evening enteratinment was broadway type theatrics with Disney characters (think Mickey and Pluto dancing about with adult over-actors) or singers who sing vocals for Disney animated movies. As a result we had more than a normal amount of time free to relax by the adult pool. The kids enjoyed the kids club about as much as other cruise lines we've sailed. The pro was that there were many more kids on the ship that matched up with their ages. The con was that there were many more kids on the ship. so they they didn't form as close a relationship as they have on previous cruises that had fewer kids. The kids didn't hate the cruise, but didn't seem to like it any better (other than that there were more movies and shows on the in-cabin TV and continually blasting over the pool). When we booked the cruise we felt we were paying a premium over what else we would have booked. I expect we paid a 10-20% preimium for the Disney brand, thinking we'd have a better full family entertainment company. Now we wish we'd chosen differently. If you're into the Disney brand or characters, or have very young children, this might be a very good cruse for you. For those of you that don't care about Disney or their characters, realize that Disney is more about self promotion than true entertainment. At least at their theme parks there are entertaining rides and the characters distract you from the long lines. On the ship there are no rides, so the characters are only fun for the very young (and very young at heart). We were pleasently surprised by the quality and selection of food. Disney is very concious of their brand so did do a good job of cleanliness and food preparation. We could have done without the rotating dining room locations, especitally the nights we were in the Animator Palate...with the video screens surrounding all the tables, but the food and staff were excellent throughout our voyage. Overall an "average" cruise for us, but "poor" value compared to our other experiences. Your personal views of the Disney brand might increase these value to you. Read Less

We were on deck 7- highly recommend the floor. We could take the steps or elevators. Comfortable and great location :) The food and entertainment were amazing. The ship was beyond clean every place you go. There is not a pool for swimming if you're larger than your average 3 year old. If you're looking for a pool to excercise or lap lanes- you will not find it here. You can sit in the pool and watch a Disney show at pretty much anytime during the day. My family had stayed on the Disney Wonder a few years back and my mom and sister loved the experience, the little attention to detail only Disney can do to make the trip magical. After 6 years we booked to go on the Disney Fantasy because of the warm weather in the Caribbean, being able to visit the Disney private Island of Castaway Cay and try out the Aquaduck! The price was very expensive and as much as I tried to convince on going on one of the big boats on the RCL it was Disney or nothing for my mother and sister. The embarkation was a bit hectic has someone had fallen ill in the cruise before us at Castaway Cay and caused the boat to arrive 3 hrs late. It caused a ruckus with no shuttles going to the port. We arrived an hr later than expected but Disney made up for the delay with making the process as speedy as could be. We got bonus lanyards because we were castaway members (previous guests) The buffet area at cabanas had a wide selection of food and made us feel a lot better. The 3 different dining areas were beautiful (my personal favourite was the animators palette due to the cool interactions and images shown on the walls. Unfortunately we didn't get to speak to Crush on the first time dining there because I had booked for us to eat at Remy's. The experience was like nothing else.. I wouldn't do it every day but it was nice to dress up and be treated like VIPs. Every dish had plate covers and we had about 3-4 servers serving us at any given time. About 8 courses or so and the chef would come out to see how we were doing. Fantastic treat for my parents. My husband and I really enjoyed going on the aquaducks and experiencing the beautiful lounges on offer. I really thought Sky line was very romantic. I'm not Disney obsessed as a lot of the other cruisers are but I was happy to see my favourite characters Pluto and Donald around and taking pictures with them. It was my husband's first cruise and he really enjoyed the food. I laughed when he asked if we were going to Cabanas for evening meals since he didn't know anything about the nice plated dinners cruises usually provide. What really excited him was we got to watch Rogue one Star Wars premier on the boat at 12:01am on the 16th December onwards. It was pretty cool to watch it as it opens across the country. I enjoyed watching Dr. Strange and Moana on the boat too. Something that no other cruise line can boast to do since Disney owns Marvel and a lot of other entertainment companies. I liked the live Disney cast performances but they had used the same variety act on this cruise (2 different jugglers) which made it a bit repetitive. They should avoid doing that in future. I liked we had an adults area but the teenager's pool area at the front of the boat was always empty and wasted on them. Might as well let the adults take that part over. We did the mickey mouse detective angeny around the ship. Fun way to spend some time exploring the boat and interact with the cool artwork that comes to life and makes you do tasks to solve mysteries. I wish I had some more time to take the boat tour but unfortunately missed it. Great family trip but once you've done Disney Fantasy it's good to try out other boats. I look forward to try out RCL and Celebrity at some point. Having seen the fireworks performance on the west coast with the Disney wonder, I found this one to be short and less spectacular. They used Captain Jack Sparrow for most of it. Maybe it was because this was my second cruise with Disney but I felt the see ya real soon and other performances lacked enough characters compared to the first time. I like my head waiter Stefanos from Greece a lot but Carlos the assistant waiter was forgetful and not as attentive. these 2 waiters would follow us in to the 3 different dinging rooms for each night so they know your preference and get to chat with them more) Some of the other waiters on the boat that we dealt with during the day was very nice. I chose this cruise for the Port and I am so glad we did. We were able to visit WDW for a couple of days before heading to the port. We stayed conceirge level (room 12014) and it was SO worth it. The lounge was wonderful! The snacks and happy hour drinks were great. The conceirge staff (Amanda, Kemeisha and Twanda) and Room Host (Vicente) were what really made our trip fabulous. They were there for anything that we needed and loved to spoil us any chance the could. We sailed to Cozumel (beautiful water and wonderful people- food was wonderful too). We did the Dolphinaris port excursion and had a blast, just get ready for expensive picture packages ($75 for 3 pictures), as you are not allowed to bring your own camera. Next, we sailed to Grand Cayman. This port was beautiful as well. We did the Sting Ray Adventure and loved it. Really got to get up close with the sting rays and feed them. Our next port was Falmouth, Jamaica. This was my second favorite port. We went to the Jewel Resort and spent the day at the expansive pools, lazy rivers and multiple water slide. This all inclusive resort was exactly what my family needed. Pools for the kids, and free drinks and relaxation for the parents. And finally, our favorite port, Castaway Cay. Definitely saved the best for last! This island is beautiful. We decided to splurge and got a family cabana and we are so glad we did. A personal space with shade and shower, complete with complimentary snorkeling gear and floats, as well as a hammock and fully stocked refridgerator. I definitely recommend getting a cabana. Moving on to the food. All I can say is, "Wow." We had a wonderful dining room staff, Romme and Antoinette. The food was exquisite, never had a bad meal. The kids really enjoyed the quick service options on Deck 11, Flo's & Luigi's, that made food like pizza (10 different kinds), hamburgers, chicken burgers, even veggie burgers. We also made time for dinner and brunch at Palo, such a great restaurant for some adult time. Ian, our waiter both visits, was amazing! We loved all of the shows. What I was expecting was half of what the actually did, they were spectacular!!!! Read Less

My daughter asked her Papa and I to join her and our three grandchildren on the kid's first cruise. My husband and I have sailed on 18 cruises...Alaska, Hawaii, South America, and every cruise to the Carribean. We took one cruise on a ship out of Puertio Rico doing two back-to-back 14 day cruises. One whole month in Paradise. We love cruising. We had grown up watching Walt on nine inch tvs. How we loved Walt and the Mickey Mouse Club.. When our girls were growing up we took them to Disneyland. We took them to Disney World. We flew our daughters, their spouses, and our six grandchildren for 7 days at Disney's New Orleans resort and Disney World park. I never expected Walt to ever disappoint us. Yet, he did. I would never take this cruise line again. We left Cape Canaveral and our first day out I felt concern. We diverted to Miami after a gentleman took a serious fall down the main marble stairway. Critically hurt, when I saw a rescue boat arrive beside the boat to remove him from the ship, I realized that there was no helioport onboard. On two cruises, we saw people choppered out after serious health conditions. After a career in medicine, I could not help but think of that critical hour window of time which happens with critical medical conditions. The trip was great...really great for young children. Our grandchildren, aged 9, 12, and 15 enjoyed their first cruise. Yet, they spent most of the time at our side. They tried the children activities the first day, but did not like the activities. So they played miniture golf and used the amazing water slide a lot. The food onboard was inferior to the ships we have cruised on. It came to the table cool..not hot. Three nights I did not see a dessert on the menu that I liked. Our wait staff was excellent and I loved the beautiful .three diningrooms where our staff accompanied us to a different one each night. The maitre-D was accommodating We had a seventh floor balcony room. The greatest room ever. I loved the bathrooms! One with a sink commode...one with a sink and tub shower! It had the most storage on any ship of the ships we sailed. It had a full couch and constant reception in the rooms for news and sports. Very family oriented! Our room attendant, Scotty was excellent. I do not get a lot of time with my daughter and her family She lives in Minnesota and is a licensed nurse practitioner at Mayo Hospital. A job extremely demanding. We live in Iilinois. The first at-sea day was extremely disappointing. We were up early and got chaises in a family area near a small pool. We had two or three hours and went to lunch---we were gone thirty to forty minutes ! We left our towels on chairs. We came back and our towels were removed. Other people as taken our chaises. I asked the deck attendant! Oh, that is our policy..a book, a bag, was laid aside on the floor. THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED ON ANY CRUISE SHIP I HAVE SAILED ON#!!!! We could not find anywhere to sit. We went to our cabins!!! The medical physician and nurses were excellent! I had got onboard for the trip on prednisone due to problems due to suffering with systemic lupus and a rash I developed!!! However I had finished my meds. I took a cold, had a rash, and high temp.. I was given more prednisone. I spent 24 hour in my room. At Castaway Key...the last day on the ship my family and nearly everyone else went ashore! I returned to the top deck where we were the day our chairs were taken. I read. I napped. It was early. Shortly about 11 a.m. the deck attendant came and started stacking all the chaises. I asked him why? Well,he told me they had to to get ready for the new vacationers getting aboard the next day. I told him this was my cruise and he brushed me off. . He wanted to ad my chases to the stack. I gathered my things. I went to Guest Relations and nicely told the receptionist that I had paid for that last day. She just brushed me off. I told her I had no doubt their ship would always be filled. They would have repeat cruisers. But having talked to other fellow cruisers....ones who have cruised on Celebrity, Holland America, Princess, Norwegian...they also in the past week had told me they would, like us, never cruise Disney again. All other cruise lines treat you with respect. On Celebrity..you are one! There were never attendants from the bar walking around to ask if you would like a drink! In smoking areas....ashtrays run over....you are invisible. No, WALT DISNEY' let us down. How we never expected that.. Read Less

We have been on previous Disney Cruises, and this trip did not disappoint. We traveled during Hurricane Matthew. While DCL was not responsible for the beautiful weather we had, the captain and his staff were responsible for the safety of everyone onboard, and throughout the duration of our 7-night (turned 8-night) sailing, he kept us up-to-date and informed about Hurricane Matthew and its potential effect on our plans. We were never impacted by the hurricane. Aside from the regular communication updates from the DCL crew, we wouldn't have known there was a hurricane happening in the Caribbean at all. The storm, however, cause our route to be altered. We were unable to visit Castaway Cay in the Bahamas, and our arrival to Port Canaveral was delayed one day because Florida authorities closed Canaveral to all ship activity for one day. Thus, our 7-day cruise turned into an 8-day cruise with a bonus day in Cozumel! SWEET! Once we knew that our route would be altered and our return trip delayed, the DCL team went right to work accommodating guests with phone calls and internet service to change travel plans and contact loved ones. We were all impressed by their professionalism, good spirits, constant flow of information, and in particular, Captain Fabian’s willingness to stop and speak with guests, pose for a photo, or simply just smile as he walked around the ship. With all of his responsibilities, he was still a very visible and calming presence for everyone. The crew handled the delay in a positive fashion and continued to serve us quite well, even though we learned toward the end that some would be finishing their contracts at the end of the sailing and were probably very anxious for some rest and time with family. Great sailing, wonderful ship. Disney Cruises never disappoint! Alisha Read Less

Because being Disney everything must be perfect and it was. My favorite part of the cruise, besides the Spa, was the music of Fine Whines, a husband and wife small group playing delicious old times music. A perfect combination of nostalgia and a very elegant and classy ship. An special highlight was that as my luggage was misplaced by the airline I had to run to the nearest Brooks Bros shop to get some clothes before boarding. I explained to the Purser that some alterations were needed and without further ado everything was picked up and the same night I had a full wardrobe of nicely fitted clothes and at no cost whatsoever. Sewing courtesy of Mickey and his friends. We dined at Remy´s and it was a study in perfection. A nice blend of Nouvelle and Haute Cuisines with a friendly service. The Chef was kind enough to give us a little surprise with the most delightful chocolate. What else can I say? If it is not Disney I am not going. Read Less
