Are Cunard standards dropping?

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Queen Victoria

Great itinerary from Venice to Rome, with two sea days which we also enjoy. First port was Rijeka, Croatia, it was a Sunday and nothing was open. Not an overly interesting place but then we didn't explore very far. Dubrovnik and Kotor were both a delight to visit but very busy. Our last stop was Naples and we made our way by taxi to Pompeii, which is the most wonderful, fascinating place but much ...

We have been on many cruises and several cruise lines. Celebrity is our most common thise days but we wanted to be on a Queen and the opportunity presented itself. Cruise was dressier than we usually go, but we were prepared. We had formal and costume ware, although we were not particularly taken with the balls. If you like to dance, you'll quite like all of that. We did enjoy the ...

We (an old friend and I) chose this cruise because we got a good deal on a balcony (my 8th cruise but first balcony) and because of the itinerary. We started in Venice which is one of my favorite cities and went to Kotor, Corfu, Cagliari, Naples and ended at Rome. Embarkation was remarkably easy. The ship is beautiful, not at all glitzy, but understated. The service was exemplary, everybody was ...

Almost 5 stars but beware of slipping standards

We had heard much about Cunard from friends so we thought we must try it. Cunard staff were all absolutely delightful and showed genuine interest in our well being. I would single out the waitstaff in the Club Britannia restaurant in particular as being just perfect as was the food. They made our 2 weeks onboard utterly enjoyable. All lectures were stimulating and covered a broad selection of ...

We chose this cruise for the itinery, Venice to Athens. The check in and out was seemless. The ship had been refurbished beautifully, our cabin-balcony was large enough and very comfortable. The food in the Britannia restaurant was top class, with top class service. The Lido buffet restaurant had everything you could want and was mostly very nice. There were a variety of bars, a pub and nightclub ...

And a very good experience too! Did not know what to expect but enjoyed this cruise very much. Although it is quite different from American cruise lines, we (my sister and I) found Queen Victoria restrained but very easy to navigate and quite nice. The food in the dining room was superb as were our waiter, Emmanuel, and his assistant, Marcelito. Very professional all the time. We ...

Our Cruise on the Queen Victoria

We initially chose this cruise because it was visiting three ports in the Black Sea, unfortunately due to the issues in the Ukraine this part of the cruise was changed. The replacement ports to be honest were less than adequate and places we had been to on previous occasions. The most disappointing part on not going into the Black Sea was that we received assurances from Cunard (who called us ...

Venice airport and transfer, chaos. Ship lovely, class above most other cruise lines. Entertainment good, to our taste. Cabin good, crew friendly and service first class. Breakfast and lunch food in Lido, bars good and pianist plus canapés in the Commodore bar a great way to start the evening. Do you feel a but coming ? This was our 15th cruise having been on most cruise lines , ...

The beautiful Queen Victoria

We chose Cunard because my wife loves the many formal nights, and we both really enjoy ballroom dancing in the Queens room. The service and the professionalism on the Queen Victoria was excellent. I've have never experienced better on the many cruise lines I've been on. Only Celebrity was as good. Our cabin was sufficient. The only negative things were the poor selection of TV programs and ...

We flew to Venice and spent a couple of days at the Best Western Hotel Bologna in Mestre Venice - an ideal place to stay to explore Venice itself which is only a ten minute train ride from station right across from hotel. The hotel is also ideal for transport from airport and again to cruise terminal. The hotel will organise transport. No lugging cases around Venice!! The check in at cruise ...
