This was only our second cruise and we picked it because we wanted to experience the "luxury" of Cunard. We were aware that the clientele would be older and were OK with that.
Embarkation in Venice was somewhat chaotic and very slow, there was not a big crowd, but it took a long time to get through the process, not really great in this automated day and age.
First impressions of the ship ...
We spent 7 days on a cruise on Queen Vic. From Venice to Athens. I knew it was not ther cruise for me when i noticed on the daily activity “Chair aerobics”. Excellent food, excellent staff service and operasrting BUT! Bars mostly empty due to high cost of drinks-but the pub was full every days wplaying darts and cards and trivia. Ballroom dancing each night most popular b it you would not want to ...
This was the 14 night cruise, Venice to Rome.
This was our third cruise on this ship and fourth with Cunard so we know the standards that CAN be achieved. (Most recent previous experience was in March this year - Auckland NZ to Wellington NZ via Australia - part of the world cruise. On that occasion the poor standard of food in the Britannia restaurant caused us to look seriously at abandoning ...
We booked last minute, suite 7044 in Queens grill. Some aspects of cruise were excellent. The suite was a good size with large balcony and new balcony furniture. The much hyped refit did not include cabin furniture, our coffee table was damaged on the edge for instance and clearly not new. Just a detail. We had a very nice cabin steward (butler). The in suite fridge and free bottle of Bells ...
Looked like good value.
The dress code was to restrictive.
The meals in the buffet were better than in our restaurant.
The staff never looked happy as if they were being watched all the time and were not allowed to be social with quests.
A number of times in the Lido (buffet) staff were disciplined in front of guests - not the done thing.
The in-house entertainment was average. The ...
This was our first cruise and probably our last and never with Cunard again. We chose Cunard on reputation, one that we found is not all it seems. It was a paradox. Both excellent and dreadful. We stayed in a Queens Suite with the accompanying Queens Grill. This was excellent and without fault. The butlers and waiters were a delight - nothing was too much trouble. The plush sun beds, ...
We specifically chose this cruise because of the Itinerary. However over the two weeks on board we had 8 changes to the Itinerary. We understand that safety is important but perhaps cruise organisers need to have alternatives in place that equal the original destinations. Sarande in Albania was a total waste and overall we ended up with an extra sea day - this is wrong.
The ship is ...
We embarked on the Queen Victoria in Venice after spending a few days of our honeymoon in a delightful little hotel. What annoyed us the most about the embarkation process was the fact that there was absolutely no communication, help or advice from Cunard about how we should find the ship! We saw a Cunard tender boat and assumed we could hop on and board ship this way, but we were told we had to ...
I have cruised with lots of cruise lines and wanted to sail with Cunard. As I choose the itinerary before the ship the choice has never included Cunard as it was always so much more expensive. I know some of you may say you get what you pay for but it may not always be the case. So we saw a great deal, to places we wanted to go to and booked. The itinerary was fantastic. Starting in Venice, going ...
I expected Queen Victoria to provide a superior cruise to the cheaper ones we had been on previously - not so!!
We arrived at Venice airport and were told we had a two hour coach trip to Trieste to board the ship. The Cunard staff at the airport appeared very helpful and told us to make sure to use the toilets before leaving as it would be a non stop journey. We handed over our cases and ...
