We were so excited to be going on the QM2! The ship itself was magnificent. Our cabin was also very nice and we had a balcony.
But what a waste of money the top drinks package was! It was almost impossible to get anyone to get you a drink in a lot of the bars! At lunchtime I was lucky if I managed to get one glass of wine from a barman!
I also had to spend 2 days in our cabin as I picked up ...
This is our 13 Cruise trip and the third with Cunard. We sailed before on QE and QV, but it was our first time on the mighty QM2. The ship was iconic and displayed luxury interior deco in all areas. However, it lacked some of Cunard elements and plenty of cosmetic maintenance. We understand that it has been built as a translantic ocean liner, but the entertainment and the activities did not meet ...
Five years since our last return transatlantic cruise and we looked forward eagerly to the experience. Not a particularly smooth start with a booking while on the QE last November and being told cabin would be allocated later. Eventually we were told two weeks before embarkation that we had been upgraded. Take this tip - if you are offered cabins on deck four at the rear, especially 4180, say ...
April 2019 trans Atlantic from Southhampton to New York City.
It's our 2nd Cunard cruise, we were on the Queen Elizabeth in the Med in 2012. We've been on small ships like the Thomson Dream at 42,000tons and the topic of todays review; the QM2 at 149,000tons, was the 2nd largest we've been on.
Food:
-The buffet and dining room food was just ok. Royal Caribbean and Norwegian ships have ...
This was our first time aboard the QM2 or any other Cunard ship, but we are very seasoned cruisers in other cruise lines.
We were really excited in anticipation of our crossing and the next 17 days aboard the QM2, since the second leg of our cruise was the beginning of thieir World Cruise which normally shows the cruise lines best efforts since the world cruise caters to seasoned and most ...
it was our golden wedding anniversary and my wife wanted to go to new york. as i had spent 17 years working for american IT companies in europe and been to new york for a weekend some 38 years ago, i wasn't bothered. so i booked on the qm2 to go to new york and the caribbean. as expected the food in the britannia restaurant and the service was first class. the other features of the cruise ...
QM2 – NY to Southampton 11th to 18th November 2018
My wife and I are in our mid-60’s and have sailed with Cunard now for 125 days or so since 2011 on all their ships. QM2 is not our favourite ship, but we took advantage of their offer this last summer to, effectively for free, include two nights at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Times Square (room only – normally c300$ per night), plus transfers ...
This cruise was part of the celebration of my wife’s 70th birthday, but unfortunately there wasn’t much to enjoy on board.
The food in the Queens Grill restaurant was way below what we expected or what is advertised in Cunard’s literature. The fish was always over cooked and the same applied to the lobster. Being honest the only main meal enjoyed was the rack of lamb, all the rest of the meals ...
Various friends who had made the transatlantic crossing in the past assured us we would have a fabulous time on the QM2. We didn't.
The service in the Britannia restaurant was fine but the food was not anywhere near as good as other cruise lines, Celebrity in particular. Tough steak, erratic portion control......The sommelier (who was efficient and courteous ) obviously had too many ...
we crossed on the QM2 a few yrs ago, after doing a transatlantic to Europe on another line.
We did the same thing this year. Think of this ship as merely a way to avoid flying and cheaper than a business class ticket. Our balcony was well liked by us and our steward did a great job. The ship looked fine, public rooms in good shape, etc. it is just that the configuration of the decks are a ...
