We booked this cruise to sample the “Cunard” experience. My wife and I have cruised with various other Companies over this last 11/12 years so I wouldn’t consider myself a novice.
We boarded at Southampton having flown into Heathrow earlier in the morning. On arrival at the cruise terminal our taxi driver commented immediately that “ the old girl” meaning the QM2 was looking a bit tired. My ...
I chose this voyage because I wanted to go through the Panama Canal, and also sail on the Queen Elizabeth for the first time. I am a solo traveler. I had already sailed on the Queen Victoria once, and the Queen Mary 2 three times. I have been fascinated by ocean liners since I was ten years old, and this is why I am drawn to Cunard ships. Cunard has always taken pride in carrying on the ...
Well we have chosen the QV again and again so feel well placed to judge the steady and then more recently rapid decline of this tired old ship. No more QVic we won’t be sailing with you again.
This itinerary was recommended to us - Princess Grills - and it’s not the staff who are letting it down but the now tired ship. One plug with no charging points for phones just not good enough nowadays. ...
My husband and I wanted to get away and relax after a very busy and medically challenging year. He had never been on Cunard before but I had and highly recommended it. We wanted to leave from NYC, unpack once, enjoy the crossing, the fjords of Norway, our one day in France and the return trip to NYC. To make this trip even more special, we selected a room on the Princess Grill level, a room we ...
We have sailed on QM2 pre Covid and the 2 experiences are night and day. We don’t get dressed up as it’s not our thing and that limited us to the buffet, one lounge and the pub. The lounge was akin to a dentist waiting room. The pub was great and we enjoyed quizzes and the relaxed atmosphere. The buffet was dire. On our previous cruise the buffet was plentiful and delicious. This time there was ...
Sailing the QM2 was a bucket list dream. Unfortunately it wasn’t a dreamy experience.
Firstly, embarkation was time consuming but easy.
Our cabin was in remarkably good shape - no complaints there except the bathroom was dingy and needs an overhaul. Our cabin attendant though needs more training; we had a rattling noise start during our first night. We spoke to him about it the next day ...
Cunard sent a rather casual email to passengers about a day before embarkation saying we should add 6 hours to our assigned boarding time due to a medical emergency. There was no other update from them so we added about about 5 hours to our boarding time only to find a very long queue and total chaos. As we waited we learned that some passengers never received an email informing of the 6 hour ...
I just got off the Queen Mary 2 on a 7-Day New York to Canada and return cruise. I must say I had great expectations for this cruise. However they were squashed immediately with the four and a half hour embarkation line at Brooklyn terminal. Lots of finger pointing going around as to why it took so long needless to say there was no first day at sea, no first evening dinner, no afternoon sail away, ...
This was our first time cruising on Cunard. We did a Viking Eastern Mediterranean cruise in October 2022 and it is still fresh in our memory. On a scale of 10, Cunard was at least 3 notches down from Viking. I would rate the Viking cruise as 8/10 and Cunard as 5/10. Mind you there is a price difference to consider. We have also done cruises on Azamara, Holland America and Celebrity. Our Cunard ...
We've cruised about 25 times and this was I believe the 5th trip on the QM2 - one of the worst experiences we've had. The ship felt cheap. Meals in the dining room were well prepared, but were extremely small portions. There used to be (pre-covid) standard options (steak, salmon, chicken) daily if you didn't like the featured items, but no longer. The theater entertainment felt more amateurish ...
