We saw this cruise advertised by Imagine cruising who had chartered Queen Mary after covid restrictions forced her scheduled restart to be delayed. We were keen to sail again and the thought of some winter sun was enticing.
Pre sailing the online form filling was tedious and the arrival of a new variant of covid and subsequent media noise created more of it and raised stress levels.

This was our first time on Cunard. We embarked the QM2 in Cape Town which was shambles due to large number os people embarking and a colour blind co-ordinator. We were offered tea, coffee & biscuits but some lunch would have been nice, even if only a sandwich. We have done a couple of other cruises with Thomson before and was wondering what to expect with Cunard. The Queen Mary 2 was the friendliest ship we have ever sailed on. The cruise was ok, not fabulous as I was expecting. The book in was good, no problems apart from loosing a case for a short while. The Kings Court food hall or as I would describe it canteen was poor throughout. Food was at best slightly warm, staff surly, food usually cold and overcooked. Somewhat disappointed with our cruise on the QM2. We never eat in buffets so were limited for choice for lunch on embarkation day, to their Sir Samuel’s café. Nice coffee ( charged for) very limited snacks.
