We were not happy with this cruise. We have cruised dozens of times, but this was the first and last on Cunard. They cater to a group of loyal Cunard passengers, and do nothing for anyone else.
The pro's: The cabin was nice. For the most part, the entertainment was very good. The embarkation was excellent. We received excellent service from our cabin steward and the Britannia Restaurant ...
QM2 Southampton to Cape Town January 2018 was our 25th cruise but first on Cunard. We normally choose inclusive cruise lines such as Regent, Silversea, Crystal or Seabourn but have also cruised with Princess, Celebrity, Oceania and Azamara.
We decided on Queen's Grill because we imagined this would be the epitome of cruise life. It wasn't.
Biggest disappointment was the Queen's Grill ...
We boarded the QM2 on January 10th sailing from Southampton to Cape Town. Embarkation was very good. Stateroom 5319 with enclosed balcony. Not as clean as expected, one light fitting tied on with plastic ties as it was obviously broken. Thank goodness for no rough seas. Terrible smell in bathroom so a visit to the pursers office and a wait in a long queue. Problem sorted very quickly. Sheets ...

Hi Lakelad369,
First, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to review your experience Queen Mary 2. On behalf of Cunard, we would like to apologize for your in-room experience, and are...
Admittedly, we were on the final leg of QM2's world cruise, but still - boarding her in Cape Town, we then stopped only in Namibia, Gran Canaria and Madeira. There were at least five other interesting places I felt we could have/should have stopped. Namibia was wonderful ; Gran Canaria just plain dull; and Madeira utterly fabulous.
Overall, I personally feel that this ship is too large for ...
After a deplorable embarkation in Cape Town, things got better. This was our fourth time on the QMII and we will certainly return, especially for crossings. We love, love, love the interior of the QMII, and were luxuriously at home in many of the public areas, especially the Chart Room and Commodore Club. We met many friendly and charming fellow passengers, got involved in the usual activities, ...
This I think was our one and only voyage so we were lucky it was on QM2 from Cape Town to Southampton. It was fifteen days of luxury. Our cabin 12006 was super, very comfortable and conveniently situated. We could keep a watch on the bridge from our balcony and it was a very short walk to the lifts which whisked us down to the gym, the library or the spa. The small covered pool is on deck 12 so ...
We booked the cruise at the last moment and for a price we could not refuse. What a bargain ! We have cruised with Cunard three times before always on the queen Elizabeth. The QM2 surpassed all our expectations. We loved the spaciousness of the ship with its wide corridors and large public areas. There really was not anything we could fault. I read other comments from people who have been on the ...
This was our first Cunard cruise, but 15th overall. We embarked at Fremantle, Western Australia, on 2 April 2015 for a 16 night cruise to Cape Town, South Africa.
Embarkation process was smooth, easy and quick. Then onto the ship, which was a little confusing until we got our bearings. There were people around to point you in the right direction. Our balcony cabin (5036) was on deck five which ...
After all the hype in the lead up what a disappointment to board a smelly ship no more than a floating retirement village including passengers dying or being taken by ambulance at every port. The food is bland and boring, the activities are what I would expect in my fathers nursing home. The ship is caustrophic with no outside dining the only option is to try your luck in not catching the "Cunard ...
We sailed south on the first leg of QM2's 2014 world cruise to Cape Town. The first few days to Madeira were not the greatest. The weather was roughish, the passengers were newcomers and the crew was shaking down. In addition, the poor weather kept everyone indoors which, with a full ship, left little room for manoeuvre.
Madeira was a pleasant interlude and from there onward we had a pretty good ...
