Fantastic cruise and ship

My partner and I have been on several cruises before, mostly Princess. We wanted to try Cunard, so decided 12 nights for a winter sun break in the Canaries would fit the bill. We chose a balcony cabin in the standard Brittania class. Embarkation: the fastest we’ve ever got on board! From dropping off the car to stepping on board it took 17 minutes. Lovely check in staff and a nice smooth ...

Excellent in general but drinks aggressively overpriced

We chose this cruise to the Canary Islands in November in order to enjoy the last of the sun without flying. We thought the amenities and entertainments on this great ship were outstandingly good. Our accommodation was also excellent, but so it should have been in the most expensive category. We found the best food in the no-frills Lido buffet although the service and ambience of the ...

Extremely underwhelmed

We chose this cruise having previously travelled with celebrity and expecting the Cunard name to be synonymous with quality. It seems that the name Cunard was acquired but most of the quality of service and cache associated with the name was lost. The buffet food was excellent but in all honesty was the only area other than the general style of the ship, that came even close to surpassing ...

Best Cruise Ever!!

I had heard about Cunard for a few years but figured it was out of reach for me. Finally, after 45 cruises, we did the 15 night Canary Islands cruise over Christmas and New Years. I cannot believe how amazing it was! We could tell immediately that this wasn't Princess or Royal Caribbean! We were blown away by the elegance of the ship and the feeling that this was a step back in time to how ...

Excellent value, slightly subdued

Embarked smoothly on previous cruise at Ocean terminal and disembarked this one at Mayflower - so anyone who had parked at the port had to have their cars transferred. We had used Airlynx who shuttled us to their car park after we disembarked. The guests on this cruise were of quite an older average-age (we are early 50's) and so it was quite a subdued atmosphere relative to others, but still ...

Our original choice of holiday was cancelled due to the company going into receivership and our travel agent suggested this as a replacement. She managed to get us $400 each on board spend which, we decided, would be spent on trips out. This worked out well as we went on excursions at each port that we called at. However they could only be booked whilst we were on board and not booked beforehand. ...

A very pleasant way to spend Christmas 2016

This was our first experience, as sixty-somethings, of cruising and, overall, we were not disappointed. The Queen Elizabeth may lack the exterior grace of its earlier namesake (the 1938 version), but offers sumptuous, comfortable surroundings and plenty of options for entertainment. We paid the 'Cunard Fare' for our cruise which gave us the option of free valet parking at Southampton. This was ...

Worst Holiday Experience Ever

We booked this holiday as first time cruisers thinking it would be a memorable and wonderful way to renew our wedding vows, see a few places and relax. Embarkation went smoothly. The room was like a small premier inn room but was clean and tidy and the balcony helped reduce the sense of being in a small space. Very quickly however it became clear we had booked into an overcrowded home for the ...

Par Excellence - again!

Our second trip on QE and Cunard once again delivered a fantastic voyage. Long may Cunard NOT offer an all inclusive drinks package - even though my husband likes to drink but the lack of such an offer does seem to maintain the high standards on board. We had a standard balcony cabin, the same one as before 6211 which was right at the end of the corridor to the back of the ship. Beautifully ...
