I only have a few observations:
Overall, the staff was genial and helpful
My room steward was excellent, well trained and responsive.
Bar service in the Chartroom was expert, cheerful and well trained; they ran out of my preferred brand. The competence of the Wine Waiters in Britannia was very uneven; some were excellent and others needed more training.I also perceived a shortage of ...

The Queen Mary II - A shadow of its past, a ship you don’t wan’t to sail on…
To anyone who may be considering travelling on the Queen Mary II, please read the following. I have submitted two emails to Cunard’s customer care and I have yet to receive a response. Not even an acknowledgment. And I used their feedback system within ...
I chose this Crossing because it was Cunard's annual Crossing with the British National Orchestra. At Southampton, I stayed on the ship and went to northern Norway and back for another 13 days on the ship. So, I was on board the QM2 for 20 days as a solo traveler. I was in a different stateroom for the Norway portion of my journey. This Crossing with the orchestra was memorable, and I am glad ...
Had a cruise credit to use up. Was given a promotion to include drinks up to 12 USD for bars and room service. Room service last night refused to service an order for a Diet Coke. Asked the steward. Another refusal. Grills concierge at about 9 am promised a refrigerator supply of the soda. 11 45. No soda. Asked to see food and beverage coordinator. I would have brought on soda (and soap - see ...
Covid is alive and well on Cunard cruises. We came prepared with our Covid documents, which were not checked during embarkation. No Covid protocols were followed on board. By day 2 of the cruise we both came down with Covid and were quarantined for the remainder of the 7 day voyage. We were allowed to select from three food options for in-room dining and were unable to experience any of the ...
We've cruised twice on the Queen Victoria and loved the old world elegance and charm. Dancing in the big ballroom was a delight, and the Britannia Dining Room had delicious food served with flair. What a surprise to find out that where the Queen Victoria excelled, the Queen Mary 2 fell short.
Among the many things that disappointed us, the first one was the floor plan. Who ever heard of ...
The two of us would not normally chose to book on a Carnival ship line because of their nickel and dime business model. But their transatlantic service is a Cunard specialty and, if you have the time, cruising is at least as plush as a business class flight and at about the same price. We’d recommend it for that reason alone.
We were in a Britannia Club cabin meaning we ate in the Britannia ...
Okay, first things first - the very worst embarkation experience in 40 years of cruising. Brooklyn's Red Hook terminal is small, over-crowds easily, and was understaffed. We stood on line for two solid hours. Horrible.
Regarding my title, please leave behind any ideas of 21st century cruising. Cunard is firmly rooted in a prior age - and that is good and bad - depending on expectations. ...
QM 2 is a wonderful ship. It is very nautical and has a large number of venues in which to eat, dance, drink or listen to music. The activities on this crossing which focused on art and design were very good. The entertainment in the main showroom was fair. The food is commparable to most mid to upper tier ships which is good but not great. The pub had good food and an excellent irish duo ...
Why so many complaints? If you don’t want to see any signs of rust and wear, go on a brand new cruise ship! This ship is 18 years old and they were constantly painting and repairing everywhere during our cruise. Many of the areas have new carpet, new furniture and the ship was spotless in all the bathrooms, common areas and restaurants.
I think some cruisers got a little spoiled pre-pandemic ...
