know we have enough but Cunard is dropping there offer and standards! Cost saving
- No chocolates in room on arrival or any nights inc gala night - have they stopped them
- No Welcome drinks party from the captain! But was on the Victoria in July and they did the party- so why not now
- No Bottle in room Princess grill only half bottle!
- Same menus now for last 2 years - Has a chef ...
Since my husband passed away, I have travelled on 6 Cunard cruises as a solo passenger. Since COVID the first thing that you notice is the lack of staff which makes things awkward for solos.
On the first evening there used to be a solo travellers get together where the Social Host/Hostess and Dance Hosts would make you feel welcome (with a glass of bubbly) and get you talking to other solo ...
We have sailed on QM2 pre Covid and the 2 experiences are night and day. We don’t get dressed up as it’s not our thing and that limited us to the buffet, one lounge and the pub. The lounge was akin to a dentist waiting room. The pub was great and we enjoyed quizzes and the relaxed atmosphere. The buffet was dire. On our previous cruise the buffet was plentiful and delicious. This time there was ...
This was our 38th cruise and our second on Cunard (we were on Queen Victoria before).
Pros
The ports of call on this 14day western Mediterranean voyage were very nice, and we managed to enjoy them all, even though we have been to most of them many times already;
Some of the venues, lobby and a few niches look good and subdued, classic but not too stuffy;
The main dining room ...
It was my 70 th Birthday so we flew to Southampton to board QM2.
We are diamond members.
Apart from our room leaking from a broken toilet next door for a week ( again) being moved to a room that had unstable floors for a night ( as it wasn’t fit for anyone to live in) terrible waiters who reached across the table and your meal to pick up your wine and smell it
The list goes on. I am on ...
We chose this ship because it was recommended by a friend.
The ship is a good size ship and we expected Cunard to be of a high standard.
Cabin - good size.good size balcony. excellent housekeeping.
Buffet - good selection at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was hit and miss as to whether the hot food was hot, tepid or cold.
Bread - cheap supermarket bread which I would not consider ...
Booked cruise to come through the Suez which did not disappoint however on landing from flight from UK we were taken to a hotel for breakfast as we were told we cannot board ship til lunchtime. There were 1400 passengers boarding in Dubai!! Approaching the ship is a fabulous sight but when you get on board it is evident it needs a refurb.Our balcony stateroom was ok but rusting pipes on balcony ...
Loved the ship.The interior was beautiful.The meals in the Brittania restaurant were very good and our waiter was cheerful and helpful.
Not too impressed with the entertainment.although the Harpist and string trio were very good.
Embarkation was a fiasco and disembarkation wasn't much better .StateRoom and table for dining not assigned when we boarded the ship.
Don't bother with the ...
My wife and I choose this cruise to celebrate our 27th anniversary just the 2 of us, and to visit Venice the first time; this ship docked overnight in Venice which is perfect to see this amazing city.
We searched many cruise ships, and choose this one due to the brand name "Cunard" for luxury cruises. We found out to be over exaggerated.
First the cabin is not comfortable due to the air ...
As a solo traveler I had hoped that this cruise would be enjoyable, it wasn’t. A lot of the time I felt that the ship was too crowded and it could be difficult to enjoy everything it had to offer. For instance, the sun loungers. Plenty of them, but most draped with towels even though no one was using them. Obviously people would bag their lounger and keep it all day.
The lido restaurant, often ...
