We choose to do a back to back (this was the first leg of the trip) on the Queen Elizabeth having previously (pre-pandemic) traveled on the Queen Mary on a transatlantic. We were a bit hesitant given the wonderful time we had on the Queen Mary, trying to manage expectations etc., but we were totally and completely overjoyed with the Queen Elizabeth.

After over 50 cruises, I thought it would make sense to sail Cunard. BIG mistake. The Queen Elizabeth was coming out of a dry dock just prior to our cruise, so I expected to step aboard an almost new, spiffy ship. That didn't happen. There were broken items in the Lido, in the Casino, in the Laundry rooms and in the public bathrooms. And everything that was broken on Day 1 stayed broken to the end ...
Don't be frightened by this review. If you have already booked, you will not have a bad time on this cruise ship. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. HOWEVER, if you have not already booked, I suggest you consider another ship.

We wanted to complete an earlier world cruise, and so booked the 49 day Sydney to New York cruise. We love the QM2 and continue to love it. After the Covid pause we were a bit worried as to what shape the ship would be in, but we found it to be in good shape. Things are returning to normal. The ship was very clean, and the deck crew was putting a lot of time and effort into painting.

We chose this cruise because it ended in Sydney where we spent a week with relatives. In 2017 we did a similar cruise on the same ship which started in Sydney and ended in Hong Kong. We stayed in in a sheltered balcony state room the state room was mid ships and we had a very stable cruise. The room was just below deck seven and sometimes we heard the noise of recliners moving. Bottom line it is old and shows it. The ship itself if not impressive. Worse yet was staff. It seems like they was no synergy and each person acted on their own with little regard to customer service.

Because of lack of maintenance during Cuvard, the ship's hull had not been de-fouled to the satisfaction of the New Zealand authorities and thus not being able to enter a number of ports including Milford Sound, the number one cruise attraction for New Zealand. Boarding was seamless and the ship was in excellent condition for wear and tear and cleanliness
Our cabin was immaculate, however we experienced poor sleep due to hard beds and pillows and the shower was the smallest I have ever experienced on a cruise ship. The games deck was the best I have seen for senior passengers but not so for young passengers.
