The old lady was rusty and needed a revival

I liked the idea of going on a Cunard ship and I wanted to stay in the US instead of flights over and back to Europe. One of my travel companions had been on a Cunard and raved about it. I wanted the luxury, exceptional good service, a real ship and the timing and price were acceptable. From the moment I got to my cabin, I was disappointed in the the rust along the edge inside the porthole/ ...

This cruise was a disaster from embarkation day

Celebrate 4th of July on a cruise - my first cruise with Cunard and my last. Embarkation was totally skewed. Ship arrived 6 hours late however there was no order to embarkation. No one had any idea what was happening and total disregard for communication to passengers. We waited over 6 hours to board all of which we were standing and not moving. Passengers were falling down and getting very ...

Our embarkation was a complete nightmare!!! The cruise was delayed 6 hrs, totally understandable given the circumstances. What wasn’t ok was the chaos that was referred to as embarkation. We stood on line for 3.5 hours. My husband’s back was so bad he didn’t recover the entire cruise. We tried to get him a wheelchair, totally impossible. There were so few available for many people. He took to ...

Horrible Cruise on Queen Mary 2

We thought it be nice to spend a week on QM2 and booked two Queen's Grill suites to travel with my family. However starting with a horrific boarding experience the cruise barley got any better for us. As other have posted, boarding the ship was total chaos. 4 hours of standing in line with no food or beverage is a horrible way to treat your guests. Zero priority given to Queens Grill guests ...

Nightmare embarkation

Cunard sent a rather casual email to passengers about a day before embarkation saying we should add 6 hours to our assigned boarding time due to a medical emergency. There was no other update from them so we added about about 5 hours to our boarding time only to find a very long queue and total chaos. As we waited we learned that some passengers never received an email informing of the 6 hour ...

I just got off the Queen Mary 2 on a 7-Day New York to Canada and return cruise. I must say I had great expectations for this cruise. However they were squashed immediately with the four and a half hour embarkation line at Brooklyn terminal. Lots of finger pointing going around as to why it took so long needless to say there was no first day at sea, no first evening dinner, no afternoon sail away, ...

We've cruised twice on the Queen Victoria and loved the old world elegance and charm. Dancing in the big ballroom was a delight, and the Britannia Dining Room had delicious food served with flair. What a surprise to find out that where the Queen Victoria excelled, the Queen Mary 2 fell short. Among the many things that disappointed us, the first one was the floor plan. Who ever heard of ...

Deliberately Unacceptable Service

I captioned my review in this way because management has screwed up in so many different ways and has proven so unresponsible that it has to be deliberate. The Cunard website is hard to navigate. Even Cunard's telephone support people tell me that. There were times when you simply could not print out required papers, including luggage tags. This seems to be such a frequent problem that the ...

Excellent voyage despite a horrible boarding experience in Brooklyn

We are huge QM2 fans despite having taken a 10 year hiatus from sailing with Cunard. We decided to book the two week version of the July 1, 2022 cruise which was a week in new England and the following transatlantic crossing on July 8, 2022. We flew in early and stayed out at JFK at the TWA hotel for the night - it was great fun! The Cunard arranged transfer picked us up from Terminal 5 at the ...

6th voyage on the QM2 since 2004 . QM2 not yet back to pre-shutdown service and condition . Although those in the Grills may be experiencing a Premium experience , Brittania guests more of the mass market experience of other lines , but at a premium price. 2 Elevators and Terrace Poll out of service entire cruise . Spa Thermo Pool needs work , some water features not ...
