Having read a number of negative reviews of the QM2 on this site, I wanted to provide a different view. My husband and I took the QM2 Christmas Cruise the Caribbean this December and enjoyed it thoroughly. Embarkation at Brooklyn was a dream. We made better time out of Manhattan than we expected and arrive 45 minutes ahead of our assigned 2:30 arrival, but there was no waiting and almost no line. ...
Embarkation at the Brooklyn Cruise terminal was quick and efficient. We were in out cabin, along with our luggage within 45 minutes of arrival at the terminal.
We were dining in the Brittannia dining room for lunch and dinner and at the Kings Court for breakfast.
Yes the Kings court does get a little crowded, but we were always able to find a seat, the food was good and the staff helpful.
We ...
Embarkation in Brooklyn - Quick and efficient Disembarkation in Brooklyn - Chaotic - but with 2000+ people all trying to find their luggage - to be expected.
There was a norovirus issue on this cruise. It was dealt with very well, constant reminders on personal hygiene and use of hand sanitizers. A crew member was stained at every food service entry point to squirt purell onto your hands. ...
We are older adults but believe we are young,or at least young at heart. We have traveled independently throughout our lives but discovered cruising in our later years. The Queen Mary 2 seems to lure us back again and again. It may be the understated elegance that characterizes this ship, the library that contains over a thousand volumes or the helpful and respectful crew. Whatever the reason we ...
We traveled with a group of friends. We thoroughly enjoyed this ship; mainly because of The Queens Room...a large ballroom with a 7 piece band every night(one night "big band night" there were 15 musicians). Dancing with my wife & friends with a big band is what we really enjoyed. The Queens Room was the best dance venue we have seen in our 11 cruises.
We thought the Brittannia restaurant food ...
My wife and I embarked at Southampton for a 29 night Christmas and New Year cruise on board Queen Mary 2 . aptly entitled by Cunard as a 'Grand Caribbean Celebration'. As it turned out we were amongst the seven hundred or so passengers who were doing the full 29 nights, the balance of the 2,500 passengers on this, the first of three legs, opting just for the single west bound Atlantic ...
We travelled on the Queen Elizabeth round trip from Southampton through the Caribbean, as we had done last year with our two young children and Mother, and whilst we had an enjoyable trip, it was as good as last year, perhaps it was due to the last cruise being over Christmas and New Year, or whether it was because the ship was still new, I'm not sure.
We had to pay full price for the children ...
Can I say right from the outset that we had a terrific holiday. We had no complaints about anything to do with the ship or Cunard. Well apart from the toast that is. I take toast very seriously indeed and the anaemic, anorexic slices of roofing tile that masqeraded as that most delightful of breakfast accompaniaments were an absolute disgrace. One could almost have been on an American ship. (Pace, ...
My wife and I joined Cunard's Queen Elizabeth for her 'Maiden Festive Debut': a 22 night Caribbean. Check-in was relatively swift though there was a short wait of some thirty minutes, once through the check-in desks, while some final onboard procedures were cleared. As with most Cunard embarkations, Staterooms were ready at the time of embarkation.
Our accommodation, a P1 Princess Grill ...
No ship or hotel is ever going to be perfect. I think that I'm a relatively demanding and "high maintenance" traveller - so i knew that the QM2 was going to be interesting after reading so many informative and fascinating reviews!
The ship is magnificent. It's as simple as that. Its huge without being overwhelming. It's maintained in immaculate condition - with hardly a spot of rust to be ...
