Fab time as a single cruiser.

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

I wanted to be in NY-Baltimore to meet with friends and managed to get a single cabin (might have been a cancellation as none available when I first looked) on just the right date. I celebrated my 70th birthday in 2017--and this trip was a belated birthday present to myself. This voyage was on my bucket list and was also my first time on a liner. I enjoyed everything about it (except for ...

First Time on a Cruise Ship

Since this is the first time we had ever been on a cruise ship, we have nothing to compare it to. Crossing was from Southampton to Brooklyn. We were totally delighted with the food, professionalism of the staff, the gala events, dressing up for dinner each night, the entertainment. My husband took the WSET wine certificate course and is awaiting his score. We took the cocktails seminar and it ...

Had a wonderful holiday

My husband and myself had never sailed with Cunard before and were worried that maybe we would feel out of place. We didn't have to worry as we met so many friendly people. I have read some other reviews on here and think that I must have been on a different ship. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and very funny. We certainly were not pestered by bar staff to buy drinks. If you don't ...

QM2 - Not happy about the changes

This was our 6th voyage aboard. First since the Re-Mastering in 2016 . The Service and general ambience continued very good as expected . Dining also was as good as it gets. Kings Court improvements were well received by most . Caronia Lounge was also a big improvement over the old , very underutilized Winter Garden. I was suprized that the cabins added on deck 13 seemed hardly ...

Planetarium now working

We traveled from Quebec City to New York (Brooklyn). The ship was in very good condition, with a very comfortable bed in our balcony room (deck 12). We were really disappointed that the Planetarium was not fully functional, only one show was available and that one had issues with sound. The ship did a really good job on Gluten Free food selections, much better than Princess or Celebrity. Note ...

Beautiful ship but the experience was disappointing

We selected this particular cruise for the dates and final destination (Quebec) Embarking in NY was a joke. You’d think they would have perfected this by now as they’re in the business of moving people. At first nobody knew what to do with us. The process took hours... Left NY 4 hours late because we needed fuel... You’d think they could have used the hours we spend boarding to do this. ...

Excellent ship. Large, stable, and yet only 3000 passengers

For a 150,000 tons size with only 3,000 passengers onboard, you will never feel over crowded on that ship. Its the most stable ship for people who are prone to motion sickness. Staff smile and greet us every time. Top notch service, food, and space. Live entertainment every night in their signature Queens Room, the largest hard wood dance floor amongst any ship. Both male and female dance ...

Great Ship with food and service not so good.

The Queen Mary 2 is a magnificent ship, our cabin and steward was wonderful. The late embarkation was quick and easy except that some ships elevators were not working, which was a common problem throughout the cruise. The fifth level balcony cabin was great. The balcony is not much use unless in port or very carm seas. The signage to the mini bar was poor some things are free and some are ...

Desperately Poor Food Quality

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

User Avatar

The problem with the QM2 is that the food quality has deteriorated markedly since I went on it once before in 2011. The main Britannia Restaurant's dinner offerings were frankly poor, with almost tasteless starters, dry overcooked and unimaginative main courses, and desserts which tasted like they had either been bought in or prepared weeks ago and frozen. One main course was an inedible lamb ...

Not that special

WE chose this ship because of the ballroom dancing, so many other ships have discontinued this activity. The dance floor is large, there is an Orchestra and a vocalist, every night at 9:30 PM, and over a 2 week period there were 4 Tea dances. This is a little late in the evening for older people, but we adjusted our internal clocks and did it. I felt that the food was not as good as other ...
