The old lady was rusty and needed a revival

I liked the idea of going on a Cunard ship and I wanted to stay in the US instead of flights over and back to Europe. One of my travel companions had been on a Cunard and raved about it. I wanted the luxury, exceptional good service, a real ship and the timing and price were acceptable. From the moment I got to my cabin, I was disappointed in the the rust along the edge inside the porthole/ ...

Nightmare embarkation

Cunard sent a rather casual email to passengers about a day before embarkation saying we should add 6 hours to our assigned boarding time due to a medical emergency. There was no other update from them so we added about about 5 hours to our boarding time only to find a very long queue and total chaos. As we waited we learned that some passengers never received an email informing of the 6 hour ...

I just got off the Queen Mary 2 on a 7-Day New York to Canada and return cruise. I must say I had great expectations for this cruise. However they were squashed immediately with the four and a half hour embarkation line at Brooklyn terminal. Lots of finger pointing going around as to why it took so long needless to say there was no first day at sea, no first evening dinner, no afternoon sail away, ...

Tired Old Queen Needs a Facelift

We've cruised twice on the Queen Victoria and loved the old world elegance and charm. Dancing in the big ballroom was a delight, and the Britannia Dining Room had delicious food served with flair. What a surprise to find out that where the Queen Victoria excelled, the Queen Mary 2 fell short. Among the many things that disappointed us, the first one was the floor plan. Who ever heard of ...

Golden Celebration

Always wanted to cruise on QM2 and we chose to do this for our Golden Wedding celebration. We booked a Princess Grill Suite. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise sailing on QM2 did not come up to my expectation. The ship itself had a significant amount of rust showing on the superstructure and a number of the seating areas needed reupholstering. Our suite was quite spacious but there were ...

RMS Queen Mary 2 - not so royal after all...

After being on the regular cruise ships so many times I’ve decided to try a voyage on the only existing ocean liner, the famous Queen Mary2… Generally speaking, I liked the food, service and the atmosphere on this ship as being very quiet and kind of old fashion as opposite to the circus like, “bells and whistle” things going on aboard the other mega-passenger ships. However, I was really ...

We sailed on the Queen Elizabeth in late July on a 15 night North Atlantic crossing.. The ship was built in 2010 and is the sister ship of the older Queen victoria. Both ships are Vista Class ships. Carnival Corporation, Cunards mother company, built a number of these vista class ships for its various fleets and aside from the two Cunard ships,a good number were built for Holland America, ...

The Geriatric Cruise

We chose this cruise because it fit our time schedule for a vacation. We thought it would be exciting to be in Boston for the Fourth of July and the departure port in Brooklyn was a simple 3 Hour Drive from our home. I blame myself a little for not researching the cruise more. We booked last minute, and we thought it would just be a lot of fun. We did not have passports as we don’t travel a ...

2 Hrs. to Check-in at Embarkation (that's how our cruise started)

Embarkation: Worse experience ever. Almost 2 hours just to check-in at the port. Two lines – one for priority one for steerage (us). Our line did not move. Meanwhile they closed our line (about 15 people behind us) and everyone was sent to the priority line. We watched people get in line an hour after us and checked-in within 20 mins or less. Were told the reason for our line not moving was ...
