I was interested in a cruise that either left from New York or came back to that port which meant I would be home in and hour or so. I flew to Montreal and spent the first night and second day onboard, unpacked and being pampered. Crystal met me at the airport and escorted me to a waiting bus. That was a lovely touch since it was raining and the hostess carried the umbrella. The line has buses ...

Tried the new Seabreeze Penthouse

We have gone on other Crystal cruises before and were anxious to check out the new Seabreeze Penthouses. While they are 50% larger than the standard Veranda Suites, they also cost about 50% more. The Suite was beautiful and the extra space was fantastic. On the negative, the TV is in an awkward place, the vanity area is very tight and the lifeboat just below our balcony interfered with our ...

Firstly a little bit of background. My wife and I are long time cruisers, mostly on smaller and the R8 ships. Pacific Princess and the unfortunate Adonia have been our regular choice, but in recent years have looked into alternative cruise lines. Windstar, Regent and now several Cruises with Oceania. Back to this review. We chose the Crystal Symphony because of the itinerary and to experience ...

Review of Joie De Canada, September 20-27, 2015, 7 day trip on Crystal Symphony Quick overview of what others might mention elsewhere: Embarkation: Took our luggage, checked our passports, ran us through the security scanners, we took the sailaway picture, and then proceeded to the gangway. Promptly ran into people coming off the ship in an area only about 3 feet wide. We had luggage, they ...

I had great hopes after reading reviews on this company. what I found is that my husband and I are not a "good fit" for Crystal. On this trip while the passengers were nice we were younger than most of them who had been on numerous cruises with Crystal some from when Crystal was started. The atmosphere to me is one of a "Country Club" with the majority of the cruisers being well educated repeat ...

My husband and I are fairly new to Crystal having sailed 6 times within the last 2 years. Had I written this review last year, it would have been far different than what I have to say now. I was, and still am a great supporter of the Crystal experience, but on the last 2 cruises (back to back journey of 24 days), we noticed some real differences. Embarkation: Extremely smooth as always! We ...

This ship and its Japanese owners are throwbacks to the days of when restaurants, hotels, theaters, airplanes and office buildings permitted smoking, either in segregated areas or throughout, and non smokers silently suffered. The world standards have changed but barely Crystal. This is the only cruise line left afloat that still allows smoking in staterooms. So the smoke from the smokers ...

My wife and I just returned from our first cruise on the Crystal Symphony. We departed from NYC to Newport, RI, Boston, Halifax, St. John, Quebec and Montreal. Embarkation was a breeze....10 minutes from exiting the taxi to boarding the ship. The Symphony is a beautiful medium sized ship for less than 1000 passengers. Our balcony cabin deck 9 was midship...very small but beautifully ...

Four Cruise-line comparo: Crystal, Celebrity, HAL, Princess

This is a four-cruise-line comparison, following our first cruise on Crystal and, before that, nine cruises on Princess, Holland America and Celebrity. In brief, cost per day on Crystal is a bit more than twice the others. In return you get the best food, no lines anywhere, and a friendlier, more intimate and quieter atmosphere. But that's not the whole story. Crystal's Cruise Critic ...
