First time cruisers so did not know what to expect. Was happy with the overall cruise, felt that there needed to be more seating for people to sit and read or just relax. Took a day or two to find our sea legs and explore the ship. For first timers the ship is big and it takes time to explore and find what you think will work for you. Food was good but found the buffet was difficult to sometimes get a seat. We ended up using the buffet for breakfast and lunch but then did specialty dinning for dinner where things were quieter and more relaxed. Cabin was good even though we had a restricted view but at least we had daylight coming in. Found the bathroom too small and really claustrophobic. if you enjoy live shows then a cruise is good for you. The shore excursions booked through the cruise were great and well organised, on time, and really good tour guides. Read Less

We wanted to do a cruise from Melbourne to Adelaide and this 6 night cruise fitted our needs perfectly. Embarkation in Melbourne was the best I have ever seen in all my years of cruising. It was so efficient that we were on the ship within 15 minutes. Other ports in the Princess World could model their embarkation strategy on this Melbourne experience. ie Los Angeles, New York. We chose a mini suite on D deck It was perfect for three adults and worth the extra money. We did anytime dining and made a reservation for the same time and table each night. Great to have the same waiters each night. The dinner menu was always outstanding with an excellent variety of food choices. The same cannot be said for the food on offer at the Horizon Court Buffet. Breakfast was always the same and hot food was always cold. Lunch in the Buffet was always very poor with pretty much the same food items available each day. The International Cafe was always busy with people pushing and shoving. This was compounded with very few tables available for passengers to eat their food. Our call to Kangaroo Island was cancelled because of the bush fires on the island Extra time was allocated to out port call at Port Lincoln, South Australia. "Golden Princess" is changing to the P and O fleet later in the year. The ship is looking very tired and in need of much maintenance. Read Less

I chose this cruise as it was organised through a group thst i am a member of. The ship was elegant and functional. The crew was friendly and helpful st all times. Though classed as disabled it was easy to get around and enjoy the multitude of activities available. The Japanese girls demonstrates were great to watch and they were lovely when met elsewhere. The 'Born to Dance' show was great to watch and very entertaining. The guitarist / singer and pianist / singer (Colin) were great and had the audience participating. The violinist and celist were great too. The dining was superb and the waiters couldn't be faulted. They were professional, entertaining and absolutely adorable. The buffet breakfast was immense with a variety of cuisines and waiters who joined in the fun with my teddy bear asking him what he'd like to eat and placing my drink with the bear. Buffet lunch was the same, it was great fun and delicious . The ports of call were great though due to bushfires and heat I was unable to make the best oc them. The Port Lincoln sights were magificent and Hobart a crafters dream. Kangaroo Island was bypassed due to the bushfires and I hope that all recover soon and give my sincere condolences to those who lost loved ones and valued pets and luvestock also the wildlife. Adelaide was too hot for me so, rather than risking collapsing, I stayed on board . Embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth. I travelled with a group and have travelled alone, I would readily cruise with Princesd line again Read Less
