We travelled with a group of 8 friends. We have travelled on the Sun Princess twice before. We were led to believe the ship had been refurbished recently, but I would guess only certain areas have been refurbished as many parts of the ship were looking tired and carpets were tatty in places. Our stateroom was very tired looking. The embarkation in Fremantle was speedy and efficient. We boarded within about 15 minutes of arriving at the terminal. Our cabins were ready straight away, so we could drop off our hand luggage. The entertainment in the theatre was excellent. There was a comedian who was very funny. Diane Cousins, a welsh comedian/singer was also very entertaining. She was so good, she was not only given a standing ovation, but the audience didn’t leave their seats until she did a short encore. The Princess singers and dancers did a show called “The British Invasion” which was very polished. The food in the Horizon Court buffet was standard breakfast fare. The omelette station was very good. The coffee was dreadful. Lunchtime at the buffet was very average with the quality of food not great. We had anytime dining in the Regency restaurant and the food there was quite good. One night we paid to go to Curtis Stone’s Share restaurant which was a waste of money. Because of the portion sizes or the type of meal offered, sharing was quite difficult. The portion sizes of the entrees were ridiculously small. The main meals were fine, but we ended up having individual meals rather than sharing our mains. The desserts were good. There was nothing extra special about this restaurant though, so save your money. The wine prices seemed quite steep, especially for single glasses. $15 for a glass of Chardonnay, $13 for a Prosecco (when it was available) On the first day the pool bars had no Prosecco, as loading was still happening. Despite this, we were charged for a Prosecco that we didn’t have. This was rectified after my husband complained to guest relations. The activities on board were the usual shipboard activities and they were fun. We didn’t do any shore excursions. In Albany the town put on a complimentary shuttle to town which was thoughtful. The port of Busselton was cancelled due to rough seas. We did notice a marine repair van near the ship and divers working for many hours whilst we were docked in Albany, so there may have been other reasons why we stayed in Albany rather than going to Busselton? All in all we had a good time, but I would not choose Sun Princess for a longer voyage. Read Less

We were looking for a short cruise to introduce our family to cruising and Celebrate Birthday and Anniversary Milestones and had been on the Sun Princess before so we chose this cruise. We had 5 Mini Suites which was amazing and when 3 of the Balcony's were connected it provided the family to interact. The service on board was top class and the food was excellent. Albany was spectacular with our excursion to Oyster Harbour and Kalgan River being world class. When leaving Albany the sun's rays pierced the holes in the clouds and it looked like the Australian Army Badge as if a tribute to the ANZAC's when they sailed from Albany during the First World War. We missed out on seeing Busselton because of the winds being too strong for the Tenders but we stayed extra time in Albany. The Waters off WA are renowned for strong winds and high seas. Sun Princess handled the weather excellently. There were ten of us on this family cruise and we all dined in the Marquis Dining area at the Traditional time 5.15pm for Dinner. The menu selection was excellent with different themes on selected nights whilst maintaining traditional Princess Cruise Menu favorites. Breakfast and lunch buffet was in the Horizons and once again the selections were excellent. Our Grand Daughter was with the Camp Discovery and she had a ball with lots of activities and meeting new friends. The Shows in the Princess Theatre were well presented and the musicians were top class. We attended some activities such as the Art Auction and the ledgions Bar after hours and that was fun. There were lots of entertainment but this was a short cruise so not much time to explore all. All in all the cruise was for the family to relax and bond and we achieved that. Read Less

This was the only cruise taking in Christmas and New Year. Sailing from Freemantle with about 2,000 passengers, a group of all ages The ship now some 24 years old but eh atmosphere was so good on board. Entertainment was suitable for all ages, with a fantastic Caribbean band as the main source of music. They got the crowd going with dancing like you would never believe, coupled with a couple of other singers they kept the nights going until well after midnight. The crew were great, service was excellent with waiters in the dinning room that anticipated all your requests with nothing too much for them to achieve. The theater shows were vey good with the highlight being the 'Bravo' show, something very special for all ages. Ports of call were fine though having been to them all before on numerous occasions it almost felt like being at home. Second time of doing this cruise but well worth it. Read Less
