The only reason I agreed to go on this cruise was for the water activities! We expected similarities to the Sea Cloud and the Windstar - NOT! We learned at check-in that “the Water Activities are not offered on this trip." The week before the trip I asked a rep at Crystal what I needed to bring for the Water Activities, and she said " just your water shoes.” We were sent a “Water Sports Participation Release” to sign & return We received our confirmation papers in October, 2 months after promised. We received a letter confirming our departure from Dubrovnik, though we were leaving from Dubai. I could go on with Crystal mishaps, both before the trip and and on-board, but you get the idea! Poor organization. Poorly planned shore excursions( missing the area highlights.) Unapologetic Activities Director & Assistant. The rest of the staff was excellent. The pianist/musician was great, but, they needed someone to give information about where we were, and what we were looking at. We had none of that. The ship was clean and the cabin spacious. There were not enough seats in the only sunny area for the number of passengers who wanted sun! The floor plan could be updated. Read Less

We wanted to try cruising on a small yacht and were very much looking forward to the water sports, such as swimming, and snorkeling, that Crystal advertised as being part of the Esprit experience. The ads showed how such activities could be accessed at the rear of the shop. To our dismay none of these activities were available and though Crystal had known about this for many months, passengers were not informed. So, our first problem is with the ethics of the way Crystal handled the water sports. The yacht is small and while the food and service were good, there is very little to do on the ship: no lectures on the interesting ports----Abu Dabi, Doha, Muscat---no areas to walk, no hot tubs, no entertainment, beyond a pianist. The cabins were spacious enough, but no balconies or bath tubs. The excursions were good and interesting, but not superior to those offered by other lines. Overall, the cost of the Crystal cruise was significantly higher than other lines and we did not see the benefits. Also I was really dismayed by Crystal's business practices. So, when dealing with Crystal Buyer Beware. Read Less

Everyone should do this small ship experience at least once. Its absolutely lovely that everyone knows your name by day 2. We were a group of 6 that had an amazing experience. The cabins, the common areas, the extraordinary staff just to name a few. The Sunset deck was where you could always find a drink, a sunrise or sunset, and someone to talk to. Great bar and wonderful grill. The Cove was always lovely just like sitting in someone's elegant living room for cocktails all nights. I cannot say enough about the staff who did whatever they could to make the entire trip perfect. One night there wasn't a table that would accommodate 6 of us at dinner. Yes, we lollygagged over cocktails too long. Like I said earlier, everyone knows one another so big groups all went together to dinner. No problem, we had a beautiful table set up on the terrace for just us. Blankets as the evening cooled off, and a beautiful intimate dinner for just our party. What a treat! Check out the warm toilet seat with ambient lighting and a self closing/opening lid off the dining room. It was a highlight for all of us! You must love food if you go on this ship. Adam Jenkins was a wonderful chef. Every plate a work of art. Foodies will be so happy each and every evening. I did think there should be alittle more variety in the wine choices. All was very good but it would have been nicer to have more of a variety of wine for the region. We get California wine at home, broaden our palate please! We did have a storm one night and it was pretty rock and roll on such a small ship. Very doable and made for some great sleeping being rocked to sleep. The next storm headed our way the Captain stayed in port and sailed after the storm passed. Wonderful friendly hands on Captain by the way, he made an effort to meet and speak with everyone on board. I will say if you have trouble walking and couldnt handle stairs this boat would be difficult to manage. The excursions were fairly good, always small, but the problem was we were at the end of the season and I dont think we had the best guides in the ports. On the other hand most of the time we were the only ship in port (other than Santarini) and that made the ports delightful in itself. Read Less
