We chose this cruise because AMA made us an offer we could not refuse after they had to change an itinerary due to bridge construction. With discounts and credits available, we chose this trip despite it's stopping in two ports we had earlier visited. We had been on AmaPrima during its inaugural season and I found myself looking for signs of wear and tear after I noticed how pristine the ship looked. Other than some chairs which looked a bit tired, the ship was immaculate. The cabin was so clean and well maintained that we could have been the first cruisers to occupy it. Because it was a river cruise, the cabin was not large, but we had no problem with storage or getting around. The crew was as professional and courteous as we had come to expect from AMA and Rolf, the cruise director, was professional, helpful and consistently good humored. The shore excursions were well organized and informative. Also, the excursions were not over scheduled, leaving us some good downtime and making daylight cruising along the beautiful Moselle river a regular part to the cruise. The food was up to the usual AMA high standards except for the chef's special slow cooked lamb; that was the best meal I have ever had on a river cruise ship and among the best I have ever had on any ship. This was my fourth river cruise on AmaWaterways and every one of them has surpasses my expectations. Everything on this cruise was so well planned - the ports and shore excursions, the meals with a great array of food to satisfy any taste. The staff were always available to answer our question or provide whatever help we requested. Shore excursions are included. Often there are several to choose from - bike tours, gentle walking to more rigorous ones - something for everyone. As for the meals, there was always something for all tastes. The breakfast buffet had a wide assortment of foods. Special orders were available too. Lunch was served in the dining room with a light lunch alternative in the lounge. Seated dinners were always in the dining room with an optional chefs table restaurant available by reservation. Wine, beer and soft drinks were included with lunch and dinner. I hope to return for another AmaWaterways Cruise. I know I won’t be disappointed and neither will you. Read Less

My sister and I just got back from our Tulip Time cruise on the AMAPrima. We started and ended in Amsterdam, with stops in Middelburg and Rotterdam, and in Ghent and Antwerp in Belgium. Each port had several included excursions available. All walking tours offered groups for active, normal, or “gentle” walkers so people could take part regardless of their physical ability. One of our favorite excursions was the Belgian Chocolate, Beer and Waffle Tasting in Antwerp. Of course, the highlight of the trip was the morning spent at the Keukenhof Gardens to view the magnificent tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils in full bloom. This was our third river cruise, and our second on AMAWaterways. The ship was in beautiful condition and spotlessly clean. Our cabin (Cat.C, 228) was quite a bit smaller than on our first cruise (AMALegro) but since we didn’t spend a lot of time there, it was quite sufficient. The service is impeccable...I don’t think the crew knows the word “no”! The food was excellent and plentiful...as my clothes can attest to! I liked the fact that in addition to complementary beverages at lunch and dinner, they offered a complementary “happy hour” for one hour prior to dinner. They also had a special reception for returning cruisers. We opted for the pre-cruise hotel, arriving in Amsterdam 2 days prior to embarkation. The hotel, the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, was modern and spotless. It was perfectly located right on Dam Square in center—city Amsterdam. As part of the pre-cruise stay, we had an excursion to Haarlem on Friday, and a canal cruise on our way to the ship on Saturday. We were especially impressed with the embarkation and disembarkation processes. In both instances, we put our bags outside our rooms but after they were collected we were each asked to identify our bags in the holding room to be sure all our bags were there before loading onto the transfer buses. This was reassuring, since on our first river cruise (on another line) our bags were left behind at the hotel and we weren’t aware of it until we got to the airport. Fortunately, the cruise manager made quick call to the hotel and our bags were brought to us at the airport by taxi. AMA’s system prevented such an occurrence. Special recognition goes to our Cruise Manager, John Riley. He had everything planned to the smallest detail and as a result, everything went smoothly. He was always available for assistance and was even seen dancing the night away with the guests. With 2 AMAWaterways cruises under our belts, this will be our river cruise line of choice in the future. Read Less
