We chose this cruise because frankly, we live by Cruise Port Boston, love Bermuda and spent our honeymoon on the Norwegian Gem on its transatlantic portion of its maiden voyage back in 2007 and wanted to see whether the cruise ship really was as awesome as we remembered. It was, and then some. The embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. Sure, twelve years has taken its toll on the ship, but it wasn't that visible. The Dale Chihuly Glass Sculpture in the Atrium of the Gem still wows. The service was great. Our balcony stateroom was consistently kept immaculately clean. The food in the buffet was so delicious it kept us coming back for more. The variety in the buffet, with its different themes each night, was terrific. Even the free coffee was delicious. The staff showed pride in their work, and the attention to detail showed. We attended four major shows in the Stardust Theater, Swing, Blazing Boots, the Chernov Brothers - Circus Dance Show and Get Down Tonight which we very much enjoyed. We were able to walk to Snorkel Park Beach in Bermuda three days in a row and took the free ferry to St. George. We traveled with our nine year old son who is on the autism spectrum, and he had a great time. We went last year on the Norwegian Dawn (August 2018) and will go again on August 21, 2020. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was from Boston to Bermuda. We live about an hour from Boston,so it was convenient. We went with another couple who had been on the Dawn and really liked that ship,so thought this would be similar. We had a balcony cabin. The hallways were narrow, the bathroom was small, especially the toilet area. Our room steward was great, can’t remember his name-cabin 9636. The food in specialty restaurants was great, atmosphere in LeBistro the best, found Cagneys to be loud and chaotic since we were near kitchen with food for the Brazilian grille also constantly going by. The main dining rooms service was slow, food pretty good, not great. Entertainment was fair-the best shows were the ones with audience participation. Also, there were a few sea days and activities need improvement-origami and towel folding? There was trivia and bingo, but we spent a lot of time on balcony due to lack of decent activities. One tip-if you want to do painting, sign up as soon as you get on ship-it fills up fast. Two outdoor pools only-always very crowded unless you went at 8am,which we did. The Bali Hai bar near pool is only smoking section and seemed to be loudest-people way overindulging!! Overall,a decent trip, but not sure would cruise Norwegian again. Read Less

We had left a previous on board credit which was expiring so we went on this cruise. This was our 59 cruise so we are experienced cruisers. Celebrity Princess Royal Caribbean and NCL. Norwegian Cruise Line is anything but free at sea. First they push the Drink Package and the Specialty Dining Packages. Let me tell you about the Drink Package. Every bar was under staffed the lines to get a drink we’re long and sometimes 20 minutes. In the Specialty Dining which you paid a premium for you were limited to one appetizers, one entree and one dessert. Never on the other above mentioned Cruise lines. Now remember in the main dining room you can order 2 or 3 appetizers such as Lime and Dill Shrimp, Pekín Duck plus soup, plus salad, So remember you paid in your cruise price dinner and you just paid more for dinner in the Specialty restaurants. Don’t get sucked into the drink and dinning Packages. The main dining rooms as well as the other free dining option where good if not better. Osheehan's and the Orchid Garden no up charge was good Moderno's and Cagney's was wonderful although you pay extra. We had an OBC of $185.00 and this was the first time we couldn’t use it for gratitudes we didn’t like that the ship only had one main corridor on the right side of the ship to go from the front to the back so it was always crowded. There were no pool staff or any safety officers at the pool and glass beer bottles where in the hot tubs and on the pool railing. SAFTY CONCERN. Will not ever be back on NCL. Read Less
