The itinerary and weather were superb. But what make it 5 stars was the excellent level of service. It brought me back 10 years from when I first started cruising. Ncl must have focused on service because I noticed the difference. There was plenty of cheerfulness and attentiveness. The food was great. There were a few more choices and I couldn't complain about any dish. The ncl shore excursions were excellent. I made the mistake of doing one on my own in st Thomas and it was not a described.I will stick to ncl excursions from now on. I really don't care if it's more dollars. A few more dollars is worth much more than compromising my enjoyment. If I had to complain I would mention the oddly slower than usual elevators and minor features that probably weren't replaced in the last refurbishment. Some had trouble with their safes. It was an excellent cruise and I highly recommend it and the NCL. Read Less

14 day itinerary very appealing; I know I wasn't going to be thrilled with the ship itself and it didn't exceed my expectations. Public areas in ship just average; Gatsby's was useless to me because of all the cigarette/cigar smoke. Professional (theater) entertainment was weak at best, the lounge entertainment was enjoyable. The cruise director staff was fair at best. I enjoyed myself mostly because I enjoy cruising in general and don't rely too much on the ship entertainment. The islands visited were very nice; we did 4 ship excursion tours and these were good, but a bit overcrowded. There were a lot of days at sea, and this is not the ship to have this itinerary on. It felt a little crowded at times; the dining rooms were fine, and choices and quality of food in the buffet were good. We had one complimentary dinner in Cagney's which was tasty, but I would never pay the prices they were charging. I used the on board internet and that worked fine every time. This ship sorely missed the Spinnaker Lounge. Read Less

Food was mediocre at best, Buffet served virtually the same food every day, Cabin door rattled constantly and the closet drawers wouldn't stay closed. False & misleading advertising regarding their "free offers." Security was nonexistent: bands of teens (4-6) terrorized some passengers. # African Americans (2 women + 1 man) and 1 Hispanic male were surrounded, physically threatened and insulted with racial slurs. One handicapped man (Marine Veteran) had his motorized wheelchair vandalized. Security did nothing! On 2 occasions the toilets didn't flush. On 1 occasion we had no water. There were no announcements warning and/or explaining either situation, nor were we informed when functions returned. Debarking in NY, we were told both gangways were disabled due to high winds. After that, it was ~60 minutes before any announcements were made or crew help was offered. Passengers were left to fend for themselves. Many passengers asked passing crew members for assistance, but they were quickly dismissed. Read Less
