I was looking for a quick last-minute mini-break, so this 4 day cruise was ideal and priced right for me, a single traveler from the New York area. One day at sea - one day in Bermuda - one day at sea. There was some confusion about boarding times by those who booked early, but that didn't affect me, since I booked a few days prior to sailing. I walked onto the ship with no wait. However, this was likely due to the fact that the ship had no passengers to disembark upon arrival. Norwegian sells hard from the moment you get on board. Nearly everything is at an upgrade and added fee. If that makes you feel ill-at-ease, this is not the line for you. The staff is courteous and efficient, but due to the large numbers, there's always one or two still training and inexperienced. The Getaway is a very large ship and when fully booked (4,000 passengers) it can be chaotic - especially during the 'muster' / boat drill. The ship also attracts many non-English speaking people which can sometimes cause confusion and conflict due to the lack of communication possible. This is a fact, not a problem. Patience is needed at all times on a big ship like this. For first timers to Bermuda, I highly recommend the bus tour of the full island. It takes five hours and visits St. George and Hamilton and everything in between. Guides / drivers are knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. I wish it were not raining nearly the whole time, but this is in mother nature's hands, so we made the best of it. My only complaint is that since it was an atypical trip length, there were all sorts of omissions and errors, especially in the Freestyle Daily newsletter. A happy mistake was that they charged us too much for port taxes and refunded them in onboard credit. The ship docked in Bermuda and it was 45 minutes before the first announcement about the arrival - and that was to inform us that the ship was not yet cleared. When a ship arrives - an announcement of status should be made immediately to avoid confusion. Read Less

Did the same cruise in Oct. 2018 when Hurricane Michael messed with our stops. Got a great casino deal so we tried it again. We had a morning flight into FLL, shuttle took us to ship arrived about noon and literally walked right on. Great timing. We had bid on upgrade and received ocean view 48 hours prior to cruising for 75.00 pp. This room had plenty of space compared to IS cabins. It was on deck 5 under the side of theatre, only noise we heard was the ship going in or out of ports, I assume the ropes etc. My few complaints were: the entertainment, now many times can you see the same comedians with the same material? So we saw two different acts and that was enough. The beds were very hard :( and need to view the tv channels for people who want to relax in the cabin. Chair hogs were in full force, my DH kept saying move their stuff. I didn't it isn't worth the trouble of an argument. Harvest Cay was much better than I expected. Very large pool, close beach and plenty of chairs and not to far from the ship. So far this the closest to Disneys Castaway Island as Ive seen. Except nothing is included in the cruise fare on the island, drinks, food and zip lines etc. Million Dollar Quartet is great! saw it on the last sailing twice. Service was GREAT! we had some of the best DR servers in the Tropicana Room. Overall I would say very good for the price and close for the cruise itself. Read Less

We chose this cruise because our daughter's friends were going for their senior trip and she wanted to go also so we decided to make it a family vacation. We had the best vacation ever. The staff was excellent. Very attentive all the time. The food was excellent also and servers were over the top excellent. The ship was beautiful. We have no complaints at all. Our cabin was a mini-suite with large balcony with four of us in the room and it was a nice size space. There was a lot more space than I expected for storage. Staff that took care of our cabin was excellent. Entertainment was good. Our cruise director, Vincent was awesome! He was very entertaining. We did snorkeling in Harvest Caye and were somewhat disappointed. The water was not clear and we didn't see very many fish. We didn't realize there is a beautiful pool and beach that is free in Harvest Caye. I would highly recommend planning time there. At Roatan, Honduras we did the Gumbalimba Park and really enjoyed that then they took us to Tabyana beach. That was very nice also. Costa Maya we didn't plan any excursions and just did some shopping. Cozumel was a lot of fun. We did Fury catamaran snorkeling. I would highly recommend this excursion. The water was very clear and we saw a lot of colorful fish. The crew was lively with drinks and dancing on the ride back. We had 2 teenagers with us so they also enjoyed going to Senior Frogs. We had a lot of fun there. I can't think of anything bad to say about our cruising experience with Norwegian on the Getaway. We were very impressed! Read Less
