Extension in Prague was great, wonderful city but the Marriott they booked us at was the worst Marriott we ever stayed at. First there was construction noise all day, when we complained to the front desk the woman said nothing she could do. Our view was of a lower roof top...oh and the bar did not know how to make a Shirley Temple or apparently anything except a Mai Tai, the drink of the day everyday we were there. Bed was the worst I ever slept on, prisoners probably have better beds. The mattress pad was hard and lumpy, they replaced it with another which was just as bad...I finally told them do not even bother I pulled the pad off myself and we slept on the cheap thin foam mattress the entire cruise. Breakfast okay, lunch underwhelming but dinner usually good. Service in dining room was lacking, very hard to get cocktails and refills. Staff definitely not as good as on the Rhine cruise we did with Viking. Free tours are mostly bus tours, we either bought excursions or like in Passaic, did our own walking tour and went to a great cafe and Dachshund museum then Christmas Market and church. Worst thing was in Budapest we tried to arrange with the front desk for a cab to do High Tea at the Gresham Palace (did not want to walk as we dressed up) but they gave our cab to another room! We were late for our reservation and wasted our vacation time! I am sure our survey was thrown out. Bear in mind there are a lot of really old people and those who do not travel independently ever. The Christmas Market in Budapest we walked to on our own. Did not like the bread making and distillery tour in Austria...did not see any farm animals and did not make bread only kneaded, shaped and added toppings to it. Not sure we will do Viking again at this point. Read Less

This was a cruise with family and friends. Twelve of us altogether. Viking certainly seems to have thought of everything. From the time we landed in Europe up to our boarding to come back home Viking was there to see that everything went along smoothly. The onboard dining was fantastic. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner ...I cannot say enough about how well everything was. There was something for everyone. I certainly tried foods that I had never had before. All of the staff on the ship were friendly. They were always willing to help out in any way that they could. The included excursions were excellent. They provided a lot of knowledge about the places we were visiting. Those that took part in the optional excursions were well pleased with them. I was fascinated with the process of passing through the locks on our journey. The weather even cooperated. It turned out much better than the forecast that we had seen before our trip. Read Less

Have done three Globus Bus Vacations and wanted to try something new and different. Our troubles started at Logan Airport when we could not check in. Viking had booked us on KLM and it should have been Delta. We lost our oringinal seats and finally got booked in. Loved Delta! Got to Amsterdam Airport and walked to the farthest luggage pick up area and could not find a Viking Rep. Finally a man felt sorry for us and said Viking usually met at the "meeting place". Off we go and walked half way across airport to the "meeting place". Again no Viking Rep. After twenty minutes I called the ship's phone number. Having never called a European phone number +49 did not work for me. It should have started with 0049. Sinking feeling in strange airport waiting for 45 minutes. Started walking around and finally found three Viking Reps walking together looking for us. They said we should have been at gate 19 where we first started. Back on track...bus ride to ship. Crew was great and we went to our stateroom. Small but doable...lower level. Window is eye level with the water and my wife could not look out at all without standing on the bed. That night when we left port at midnight the engine noise and water noise kept me awake most of the night. I thought seriously about canceling our trip. After that everything went fine until we got to Wurzburg. High water levels stopped the boat in it's tracks for a number of days. We were then bussed everyday to our venues for four days til the boat caught up to us. Half hour ride, then one hour ride next, then two hour ride the following day and finally a three hour ride to and from the next town. Some tours were canceled or rescheduled. Did not get much cruising and relaxing time on the boat. Felt like I was back on a Globus bus tour for a lot more money. Viking offered us a $1599 credit towards a future trip but it has to be used in the next year before 3/20/2020. No thanks...do not want two trips one one year. No more river cruises and have booked our next trip with Globus to Portugal and Spain in the fall. Read Less
