I was invited to join a family group to celebrate a birthday, and as the group was amazing, I did have a good time on this cruise. However, the decor of the ship was definitely the ugliest I have seen. The predominant color was dark purple, with lots of neon thrown in. As Carnival does not have any side windows open on the pool deck, many people like to go up one level, where there are lounge chairs and you can enjoy the ocean breeze...but on the Sensation, you cannot enjoy the ocean views...as this is where the lifeboats are kept, blocking your view. There are many nooks and crannies throughout the ship, which means you often 'can't get there from here'. My room was by the midship elevators (my preference for getting around easily), but this elevator did not go all the way up to the pool. Had to walk a flight of stairs to get there from mid ship. This was true for the Serenity deck as well...stairs only to reach. In fact, there were many instances where you needed to use stairs...and for this reason, I would definitely not recommend this ship for those with mobility issues. Also, many of the staircases needed seemed hard to find (like hidden passageways!). On the positive side, embarkation was a breeze (15 min. from drop off to onboard), the Serenity Deck was a wonderful oasis, and the food was not as bad as I had been led to believe (though not great either). If you are looking for an inexpensive option and find one on the Sensation, go with a good group and make the best of it. That's what I did. Read Less

Spring break girls cruise with daughter and granddaughter was everything we hoped for and more. Cozumel is beautiful and a tourist driven economy means they go the extra mile. We never felt unsafe and we cruised almost the entire island in a Dune Buggy. Very fun. The cruise director Deon and Fun Squad (Andy) just made the time on board an absolute blast. The food was good and always something available, from pizza to Guy's Burgers, burritos and made to order sandwiches and the Buffett was real good. The show was entertaining and the comedy club a lot of laughs. The Captain and Officers even came to Lido for extended photo op and waited until everyone who wanted pics with them had a chance to do so. The Wi-Fi worked most of the trip and the Carnival Hub was really helpful. If you have a bad time on this cruise it's on you! Would recommend and go again in a heartbeat. Read Less

First of all—getting onto the cruise went really smooth and quick, that was great. Although, it was very difficult getting off. The crew blocked stairways and hallways so it was very hard to find where you’re supposed to go. I just went with my mother, I wouldn’t say that it’s the type of cruise for that though—you would want to go with more than one person definitely. The ship was very interesting, it was very shiny and purple haha. When I walked through somewhere I thought I was going to bump into a mirror or something, kinda trippy. This is just my opinion, but it was very hard to find your way around if you are using the stairs. The cabin was pretty small, including the bathroom. The beds were comfortable. My only two complaints about the cabin is when you take a shower, water gets all over the floor and everything, and, on the last day of the cruise, at like, four in the morning, they put up the gangway so we could get of the ship. I was on floor 7, and that happened to be the floor where they put the gangway. Since the ship was in the water, there were small waves (duh) and that rocked the boat a little bit. So, when the gangway was up, the ship was banging against it making this god awful sound for HOURS. I couldn’t sleep for the rest of the morning. The food wasn’t that great, but it was edible. The chefs work very hard and I appreciate them very much, but I probably won’t cruise on sensation anymore because of the food. The dining room food was okay as well. The entertainment was pretty good, there was a lot of stuff that didn’t appeal to me, but I think that’s just me. The comedy was my favorite, the comedians were hilarious, especially Percy Crews 2. He was great. The service was good, the crew who cleaned our room was so nice and said hi every time we saw him. He left little towel animals every time he cleaned which I loved. Deon was hilarious and full of energy, he was so great, and the manager of the comedy shows, Andy, was very hilarious and very helpful. The excursions were great, I played bingo and won $250 and a dolphin swim in Cozumel! It was great. I wouldn’t go on carnival sensation again, but maybe one of their other cruise ships. Read Less
