Celebrity Summit

Celebrity Summit - Celebrity Cruises

Pros

Smaller size means consistent service; heavy emphasis on food and wine, with good results.

Cons

Nighttime entertainment is hit or miss, with some live music shows more snooze fest than snappy.

Bottom Line

The ship presents some of the best features of Celebrity, without being too overwhelming.

The weather was perfection and the ports were also amazing. It is so nice to be in Bermuda multiple days - if you haven't done a multi-day port yet, you should. It is so different when there is no pressure to get back to the ship. This ship is ship shape and one of the VERY few ships in the world to get a 100 score in regards to health/cleanliness. It shows. The staff is great. Where are the hiccups? Some food was less than world class, but the other meals absolutely were world class - chic nights were noticeably subpar. The buffet is way above average during and between meals. The Cafe (where you pay) does a very poor job at coffee's and cappuccinos and for us served as the "free pastry distributor". Entertainment tried hard. Probably the most lack luster part of the cruise. The feature shows were attempting to have some kind of a theme and fell way short (wife is a professional director and writer so we might be over critical). Keep Your Expectations in Check with Kids: This isn't a ship featured for kids. The kid's areas are only OK. The staff works hard and is super trustworthy, but this is not a kids-focused ship. Teens....all ships struggle....don't expect much here unless it is XBox. I feel bad for all kids clubs when it comes to teens. We coached the kids about what it would be like and they adjusted and LOVED the cruise. Boston and Bar Harbor are stellar destinations for cruise ships. Read Less

I must say that Bermuda was beyond beautiful and the weather was perfect. The ships refurbishing is really nice. The cabin colors were perfect. The shower is a little small and the grab bar is not in a great place. Lots of banging into it while showering. The crew was amazing not one complaint. The wine master Sedat went above and beyond to keep us supplied in great wines. Did the chefs table and would highly recommend it! Fabulous menu by Daniel Boulud. Aqua is a great restaurant, portions were adequate, food was good. Qsine was not a favorite for us, neither the seafood lunch or dinner. Really enjoyed the ports, both Boston and Maine. Clam chowder and Maine lobster what could be bad. The only issue we had was when a passenger was struggling in pool and she needed assistance. Someone should have had the pool closed without me having to have told them too. Read Less

No flights necessary, big plus, love Bermuda and Bar Harbor although temperature spread was alarming. Low 80`s in Bermuda and mid 40`s in Maine. Coming from Virginia, the southern approach allowed us to take a room on Staten Island's Hilton Garden Inn, included parking and shuttle service to the ship and back. EZPZ, less traffic. Embarkation was a snap at 11:30 am and the new policy of "drop your luggage in your cabin before lunch" was big hit for all. Our aft cabin was like a spring breeze, colors were shades of grey and light pink, light carpeting and drapes, glass door-ed cupboards and more drawers a plus. Big negative for us, no knobs in room or bathroom. YIKES! Where do you hang robes or coats especially with full closets? Not all the rooms were that way but when I questioned this, the reply was "clean, less cluttering" wrong. We ate mostly in Blu but breakfasts in the cafe were easy if you are and early riser. Did not need to think about specialty restaurants, ate 1 dinner casually and it was fun too. What we saw of the entertainment was very good, the combined voices in concert were probably the best we have ever seen on a ship. Overall, service and smiling faces were exceptional, lots of new hires breaking and blending in easily. Read Less
