My husband and I cruise a lot. We have cruised on Carnival, MSC, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. I think about 15 in total. We have only been on Royal Caribbean twice. This last time we went on Harmony of the Seas. The ship was beautiful but it was just another cruise ship. We did not like that we had to make reservations for the shows prior to departing. While at sea one of our shows was cancelled and the new time for us was at 10 pm. We had our small grandchildren with us so this time was not good so we missed the show we really wanted to see. The food was pretty good and the shows that we did get to see were good. The cabin- a balcony- was typical. The ship, although it did have all the bells and whistles, was pretty much the same as all the other ships. We found that unlike MSC or even Carnival, Royal Caribbean over charges for everything and they automatically add tips onto EVERY little thing. THey even charged a tip on a little overly priced plain popcorn that we purchased for our grandsons to have during a show. Carnival gave us popcorn for free. We did not like that our grandsons were too small to go on the water slides- even though they were big enough on the Carnival Breeze. In fact, the water park on the Carnival Breeze was far superior to the Harmony. BUT, the main reason we are giving only one star is because when we returned home we were charged $200 for a deposit on a future cruise. Neither I nor my husband authorized this. We had not been interested in a future cruise at the time of the cruise. We had JUST returned from a European MSC cruise (AWESOME EXPERIENCE-LOVE MSC) So, although we are planning on a cruise out of China, that is not for at least another year. When we called Royal Caribbean to inquire about the charge we were basically told that the charge was NON REFUNDABLE! HUH? How is a charge that neither I nor my husband authorized be non refundable? When we departed the ship we were given a printout of our charges and nowhere was there a mention of a future cruise deposit. Well after an hour on the phone only to be accused of having second thoughts and therefore wanting our money back we hung up on Royal Caribbean. We immediately filed a complaint with the BBB and contacted our credit card company. Now, our future cruises will definitely be on different cruise line. Shame on Royal Caribbean for treating their customers so rudely. NEVER AGAIN ROYAL CARIBBEAN! Read Less

We caught the cruise bug a while back (2014) and this was our 7th cruise We have sailed Disney, Princess, Carnival but have sort of settled in on RCCL for various reasons. We have been on small ships (Empress of the Seas) and up to the Freedom Class (Freedom and Independence). We typically have sailed with kids (teens) but this was our 25th anniversary cruise so just me and the wonderful wife. This cruise was book over a year ago and I chose the Harmony OTS based on dates, ports and accommodations, plus price (book early). I also wanted to try one of the OASIS class ships. We had a balcony cabin (8540). This cruise was in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary so just my and my amazing wife took this trip. Pre-Cruise / Embarkation: We flew into Orlando the day before, rented a car (Hertz) and drove over to Daytona Beach for the day. Had a nice time and good meal at a favorite of ours “Aunt Catfish’s”. We stayed about 10 miles South of Port Canaveral using Marriott points I had. Next morning drove to the Port Canaveral Hertz return which was ½ mile from the port entrance. They shuttled us over where we handed our luggage over the to porters around 10:30 and we were on the ship less than 30 minutes later. Easy Peasy! My wife has celiac, so she cannot eat gluten and we informed out wait staff in the MDR on our first night. We never had to tell another sole after that. We had the early fixed dining and our waiter (Adrian) and section Head Waiter (Taylan) bent over backwards to accommodate her dietary restriction. Taylon would bring the menu to my wife for the following night and told her to order anything she wanted, and he would be sure they made it gluten-free. They even made French Onion soup of her one night with gluten-free bread. I could name numerous other items as week but generally anything on the menu she wanted, they made it GF. We even ate at Wonderland one night and it was AMAZING. Not for the meat and potatoes crowd but if you enjoy culinary adventure, this place is a MUST. Our waiter there, ‘Junior’, was fabulous and had a great sense of humor. I highly recommend Wonderland. We only ate in Windjammer for lunch on our first day and breakfast on our last day and it was very good as well. We ate breakfast and most lunches in the MDR. My only issue with the meal was our first night in the MDR where I ordered escargot, which I do every time when it’s on the menu and it was actually bad for some reason. Anyway, I ordered it again following night(s) and it was like I remember it being on past cruises. Yummy! Read Less

My husband and I have cruised on Halloween before and really enjoyed it so we thought we would give the Harmony a shot. The ship was nice newer than Oasis. We chose a Boardwalk balcony. The bed was as hard as a rock. We did request additional padding, but that didn’t help. The Abyss slide obstructs you’re view so you are unable to watch any shows from your balcony. The room was very nice and clean and our stateroom attendant Daniel was wonderful. We did enjoy Grease , the ice show , and Columbus the musical. We were very very disappointed at Jamie’s Italian. The food was very salty and not good at all. Don’t know why they removed Giovanni’s. That was a wonderful restaurant. We also ate at 150 Central and that was okay. We found that the food on the Oasis was so much better than Harmony. It seemed like they were short staffed on the Harmony. If you went to Cafe Promenade dirty dishes were left on tables and no one was there to clean them up. The Windjammer food was okay. It seemed like the Oasis Windjammer was larger than Harmony’s. The dessert presentation was poor. Mousse , mousse and more mousse. They did have a chocolate buffet one night and nice cakes the last night but the other nights were awful. The Oasis has the Harmony beat in the Windjammer for sure. Service was okay. Oasis also had better service. We did have an excellent stateroom attendant. The Halloween parade was good but lacked in decorations. No balloons falling from the ceiling like on Oasis last year. Coco Cay was wonderful. The food on the island was excellent. You need to see all the great work they have done. St Thomas is horrible. If you go downtown there is nothing worth going down there for. You can take a taxi from the port to the beaches or a tour. That would be your best bet. Love San Juan. You need to walk up to El Morro it is such a beautiful site to see. We walked back down thru the streets of old San Juan and stopped In some of the shops there. Overall I would prefer the Oasis. The Harmony needs to hire more help and make it a bit more friendlier.
