I treated my art teaching daughter to this cruise during her Christmas vacation. She had never been on a cruise previously and was impressed with the beautiful Viking Star amenities. Our cabin was roomy and comfortable. I don't think my daughter believed that we could have a 4 star meal every night at your excellent restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the New Year's Day brunch which was a fabulous feast. Good weather was unexpected but we always had cold, clear, days without any rain. This made our shore excursions pleasant. I particularly have to thank Viking for catching us up on an excursion that we missed because we misread the departure time on the first day in Florence. Because of Viking's effort, we did get to get "Venus Rising from the Sea" at the Ufizzi Museum which was one of our travel goals. We definitely would travel again on Viking. It was an enjoyable experience. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had been on a Viking River Cruise the previous year and really enjoyed it. Viking had the best ratings. Almost everything about the trip was wonderful. The ship was beautiful, staff was super friendly and helpful. The stateroom was exceptionally comfortable and well designed so that there was plenty of closet and drawer space. The ship was also very clean and well maintained. The food at all the restaurants was also excellent. With the Chef's Table being the best. Even the buffet restaurant was the best we tasted anywhere, compared to other ships on which we have sailed. What was lacking was good entertainment. The cruise director, Brensley, did one excellent show. She had a beautiful voice. There were four other singers who did shows, and they were very amateurish. The resident historian was very knowledgeable, informative and interesting. The tours were interesting also, but we would have liked a little more time on our own in each port. All in all, it was a very enjoyable trip. Read Less

We chose this cruise for a break after the Christmas festivities. Fewer crowds. Took the included tours. While informative, somewhat boring. Will consider “pay “ tours in the future. I strongly DO NOT recommend included tour in Cartegena. On the bus looking at the poverty of the area then to a less than photographic lighthouse. Then back on the bus. No time to explore/ shop in the city prior to boarding. We had the ES1 suite. Nice amenities. However, water leak from toilet 2 days in a row. Crew was prompt to fix it on day 2. Few activities on board so LOTS of downtime and looking for things to do on sea days. This is our first “small ship “ cruise. Good staff/customer ratio. Staff willing to chat and share their stories. Able to see many of the same customers and get to know each other more easily than the larger ships. Overall, good cruise. Excellent staff. Food OK. Evening shows good. Cabin staff 5stars! Read Less
